The method is based on the competitive reaction of horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-labeled anti-MAM antibody and free drug in spiked urine samples. A hapten-protein conjugate was synthesized by using acidic derivative of monoacetyl morphine (MAM) coupled to carrier protein BSA and was used as an immunogen for the generation of anti-MAM (monoacetyl morphine) antibody. A high titer of antibody (1:64,0000) was obtained and the relative affinity constant (Kaff) of antibody was 3.1脳107 l/mol. Under the optimal conditions, linear range and reactivity for heroin, mono acetyl morphine (MAM), morphine and codeine were 0.08, 0.09, 0.095 and 0.092 ng/mL respectively. The developed chemiluminescence inhibition assay could detect heroin and its metabolites in standard and urine samples up to 0.01 ng/ml. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heroin" title="heroin">heroin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=metabolites" title=" metabolites"> metabolites</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=chemiluminescence%20immunoassay" title=" chemiluminescence immunoassay"> chemiluminescence immunoassay</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=horse%20radish%20peroxidase" title=" horse radish peroxidase "> horse radish peroxidase </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/44063/detection-of-heroin-and-its-metabolites-in-urine-samples-a-chemiluminescence-approach" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/44063.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">270</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">11</span> Wavelength Conversion of Dispersion Managed Solitons at 100 Gbps through Semiconductor Optical Amplifier</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kadam%20Bhambri">Kadam Bhambri</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Neena%20Gupta"> Neena Gupta</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> All optical wavelength conversion is essential in present day optical networks for transparent interoperability, contention resolution, and wavelength routing. The incorporation of all optical wavelength convertors leads to better utilization of the network resources and hence improves the efficiency of optical networks. Wavelength convertors that can work with Dispersion Managed (DM) solitons are attractive due to their superior transmission capabilities. In this paper, wavelength conversion for dispersion managed soliton signals was demonstrated at 100 Gbps through semiconductor optical amplifier and an optical filter. The wavelength conversion was achieved for a 1550 nm input signal to1555nm output signal. The output signal was measured in terms of BER, Q factor and system margin. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=all%20optical%20wavelength%20conversion" title="all optical wavelength conversion">all optical wavelength conversion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dispersion%20managed%20solitons" title=" dispersion managed solitons"> dispersion managed solitons</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=semiconductor%20optical%20amplifier" title=" semiconductor optical amplifier"> semiconductor optical amplifier</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cross%20gain%20modultation" title=" cross gain modultation"> cross gain modultation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/46267/wavelength-conversion-of-dispersion-managed-solitons-at-100-gbps-through-semiconductor-optical-amplifier" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/46267.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">453</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10</span> Performance Evaluation of One and Two Dimensional Prime Codes for Optical Code Division Multiple Access Systems</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gurjit%20Kaur">Gurjit Kaur</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Neena%20Gupta"> Neena Gupta</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, we have analyzed and compared the performance of various coding schemes. The basic ID prime sequence codes are unique in only dimension, i.e. time slots, whereas 2D coding techniques are not unique by their time slots but with their wavelengths also. In this research, we have evaluated and compared the performance of 1D and 2D coding techniques constructed using prime sequence coding pattern for Optical Code Division Multiple Access (OCDMA) system on a single platform. Analysis shows that 2D prime code supports lesser number of active users than 1D codes, but they are having large code family and are the most secure codes compared to other codes. The performance of all these codes is analyzed on basis of number of active users supported at a Bit Error Rate (BER) of 10-9. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CDMA" title="CDMA">CDMA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=OCDMA" title=" OCDMA"> OCDMA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=BER" title=" BER"> BER</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=OOC" title=" OOC"> OOC</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PC" title=" PC"> PC</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=EPC" title=" EPC"> EPC</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MPC" title=" MPC"> MPC</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=2-D%20PC%2FPC" title=" 2-D PC/PC"> 2-D PC/PC</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=%CE%BBc" title=" 位c"> 位c</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=%CE%BBa" title=" 位a"> 位a</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/45035/performance-evaluation-of-one-and-two-dimensional-prime-codes-for-optical-code-division-multiple-access-systems" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/45035.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">337</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9</span> In Silico Studies on Selected Drug Targets for Combating Drug Resistance in Plasmodium Falcifarum </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Deepika%20Bhaskar">Deepika Bhaskar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Neena%20Wadehra"> Neena Wadehra</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Megha%20Gulati"> Megha Gulati</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aruna%20Narula"> Aruna Narula</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=R.%20Vishnu"> R. Three drug targets were selected to screen promising drug molecules from the GSK library of around 14000 molecules. Using an in silico structure-based drug designing approach, the differences in binding energies of the substrate and inhibitor were exploited between target sites of parasite and human to design a drug molecule against Plasmodium. The docking studies have shown several promising molecules from GSK library with more effective binding as compared to the already known inhibitors for the drug targets. Though stronger interaction has been shown by several molecules as compare to reference, few molecules have shown the potential as drug candidates though in vitro studies are required to validate the results. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=plasmodium" title="plasmodium">plasmodium</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=malaria" title=" malaria"> malaria</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=drug%20targets" title=" drug targets"> drug targets</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=in%20silico%20studies" title=" in silico studies"> in silico studies</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/24319/in-silico-studies-on-selected-drug-targets-for-combating-drug-resistance-in-plasmodium-falcifarum" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/24319.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">446</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8</span> Construction Contractor Pre-Qualification Using Multi-Attribute Utility Theory: A Multiplicative Approach</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=B.%20Vikram">B. To enhance the chances for construction projects to be successful, selecting an able contractor is one of the fundamental decisions to be made by clients. The selection of the most appropriate contractor is a multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) process. In this paper, multi-attribute utility theory (MAUT) is employed utilizing the multiplicative form of utility function for ranking the prequalified contractors. Performance assessment criteria covering contracting company attributes, experience record, past performance, performance potential, financial stability and project specific criteria are considered for contractor evaluation. A case study of multistoried building for which four contractors submitted bids is considered to illustrate the applicability of multiplicative approach of MAUT to rank the prequalified contractors. The proposed MAUT decision making methodology can also be employed to other decision making situations. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multi-attribute%20utility%20theory" title="multi-attribute utility theory">multi-attribute utility theory</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=construction%20industry" title=" construction industry"> construction industry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=prequalification" title=" prequalification"> prequalification</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=contractor" title=" contractor"> contractor</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/14928/construction-contractor-pre-qualification-using-multi-attribute-utility-theory-a-multiplicative-approach" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/14928.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">435</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7</span> Improved Multi鈥揙bjective Firefly Algorithms to Find Optimal Golomb Ruler Sequences for Optimal Golomb Ruler Channel Allocation </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shonak%20Bansal">Shonak Bansal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Prince%20Jain"> Prince Jain</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arun%20Kumar%20Singh"> Arun Kumar Singh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Neena%20Gupta"> Neena Gupta</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Recently nature鈥搃nspired algorithms have widespread use throughout the tough and time consuming multi鈥搊bjective scientific and engineering design optimization problems. Moreover, these waste products can be used for the production of high-value products which are still untapped due to inappropriate management. Paenibacillus sp. AD is known to act on chitinolytic and proteinaceous waste and was explored for its potential to degrade various types of seafood waste in solid-state fermentation. Effective degradation of seafood waste generated from a variety of sources such as fish scales, crab shells, prawn shells, and a mixture of such wastes was observed. 30 to 40 percent degradation in terms of decrease in the mass was achieved. Along with the degradation, chitinolytic and proteolytic enzymes were produced, which can have various biotechnological applications. Apart from this, value-added products such as chitin oligosaccharides and peptides of various degrees of polymerization were also produced, which can be used for various therapeutic purposes. Results indicated that Paenibacillus sp. Hypertriglyceridemia showed independent association with both cartilage anabolism (p 0.03 and catabolism (p 0.03. Conclusion: Metabolic syndrome, though has no effect on cartilage regeneration tends to shift cartilage homeostasis towards degeneration with hypertriglyceridemia showing significant independent effect on cartilage metabolism. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=metabolic" title="metabolic">metabolic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=syndrome" title=" syndrome"> syndrome</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cartilage" title=" cartilage"> cartilage</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=degernation" title=" degernation"> degernation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/172402/metabolic-syndrome-and-its-effects-on-cartilage-degeneration-vs-regeneration-a-pilot-study-using-osteoarthritis-biomarkers" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/172402.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">65</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4</span> Seminal Attributes, Cooling Procedure and Post Thaw Quality of Semen of Indigenous Khari Bucks (Capra hircus) of Nepal</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pankaj%20Kumar%20Jha">Pankaj Kumar Jha</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Saroj%20Sapkota"> Saroj Sapkota</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dil%20Bahadur%20%20Gurung"> Dil Bahadur Gurung</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Raju%20Kadel"> Raju Kadel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Neena%20Amatya%20Gorkhali"> Neena Amatya Gorkhali</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bhola%20Shankar%20Shrestha"> Bhola Shankar Shrestha</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The study was conducted to evaluate the seminal attributes, effectiveness of cooling process and post-thawed semen quality of a Nepalese indigenous Khari buck. Thirty-two ejaculates, 16 from each buck were studied for seminal attributes of fresh semen: volume, color, mass activity, motility, viability, sperm concentration, and morphology. The pooled mean values for each seminal attributes were: volume 0.7卤0.3 ml; colour 3.1卤0.3 (milky white); mass activity 3.8卤0.4 (rapid wave motion with formation of eddies at the end of waves to very rapid wave motion with distinct eddies formation); sperm motility 80.9卤5.6%; sperm viability 94.6卤2.0%; sperm concentration 2597.0卤406.8x106/ml; abnormal acrosome, mid-piece and tail 10.7卤1.8% and abnormal head 5卤1.7%. For freezing semen, further 6 ejaculates from each buck were studied with Tris based egg yolk citrate extender. The pooled mean values of motility and viability of post diluted semen for 90 and 120 minutes each for cooling and glycerol equilibration were 73.8卤4.8%, 88.1卤2.6% and 69.2卤6.0%, 85.0卤1.7%, respectively. The pooled mean values of post thaw motility and viability with advancement of preservation time were: 0hour 49.0卤4.6%, 81.2卤1.9%; 2nd day 41卤2.2%, 79卤1%; 5th day 41卤2.2%, 78.6卤0.9% and 10th day 41卤2.2%, 78.6卤0.9%. We concluded from the above study that the seminal attributes and results of post-thaw semen quality were satisfactory and in accordance with other work in foreign countries, which indicated the feasibility of cryopreserving buck semen. For more validation, research with large number of bucks, different types of diluents and freezing trials by removing seminal plasma followed by pregnancy rate is recommended. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cryopreservation" title="cryopreservation">cryopreservation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nepalese%20indigenous%20Khari%20%28Hill%20goat%29%20buck" title=" Nepalese indigenous Khari (Hill goat) buck"> Nepalese indigenous Khari (Hill goat) buck</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=post-thaw%20semen%20quality" title=" post-thaw semen quality"> post-thaw semen quality</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=seminal%20attributes" title=" seminal attributes"> seminal attributes</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/62710/seminal-attributes-cooling-procedure-and-post-thaw-quality-of-semen-of-indigenous-khari-bucks-capra-hircus-of-nepal" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/62710.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">402</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3</span> Enhancing Animal Protection: Topical RNAi with Polymer Carriers for Sustainable Animal Health in Australian Sheep Flystrike</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yunjia%20Yang">Yunjia Yang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yakun%20Yan"> Yakun Yan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Peng%20Li"> Peng Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gordon%20Xu"> Gordon Xu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Timothy%20Mahony"> Timothy Mahony</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Neena%20Mitter"> Neena Mitter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Karishma%20Mody"> Karishma Mody</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Sheep flystrike is one of the most economically important diseases affecting the Australian sheep and wool industry (>356M/annually). Currently, control of Lucillia cuprina relies almost exclusively on chemicals controls and the parasite has developed resistance to nearly all control chemicals used in the past. It is therefore critical to develop an alternative solution for the sustainable control and management of flystrike. RNA interference (RNAi) technologies have been successfully explored in multiple animal industries for developing parasites controls. This research project aims to develop a RNAi based biological control for sheep blowfly. Double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) has already proven successful against viruses, fungi and insects. However, the environmental instability of dsRNA is a major bottleneck with a protection window only lasting 5-7 days. Bentonite polymer (BenPol) technology can overcome this problem, as it can be tuned for controlled release of the dsRNA in the gut challenging pH environment of the blowfly larvae, prolonging its exposure time to and uptake by target cells. We have investigated four different BenPol carriers for their dsRNA loading capabilities of which three of them were able to afford dsRNA stability under multiple temperatures (4掳C, 22掳C, 40掳C, 55掳C) in the sheep serum. Based on stability results, we further tested dsRNA from potential targeted genes loaded with BenPol carrier in larvae feeding assay, and get three knockdowns. Our results, establish that the dsRNA when loaded on BenPol particles is stable unlike naked dsRNA which is rapidly degraded in the sheep serum. A stable nanoparticles delivery system that can protect and increase the inherent stability of the dsRNA molecules at higher temperatures in a complex biological fluid like serum, offers a great deal of promise for the future use of this approach for enhancing animal protection. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=RNA%20interference" title="RNA interference">RNA interference</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lucillia%20cuprina" title=" Lucillia cuprina"> Lucillia cuprina</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=polymer%20carriers" title=" polymer carriers"> polymer carriers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=polymer%20stability" title=" polymer stability"> polymer stability</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/163869/enhancing-animal-protection-topical-rnai-with-polymer-carriers-for-sustainable-animal-health-in-australian-sheep-flystrike" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/163869.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">81</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2</span> Development of a Stable RNAi-Based Biological Control for Sheep Blowfly Using Bentonite Polymer Technology</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yunjia%20Yang">Yunjia Yang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Peng%20Li"> Peng Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gordon%20Xu"> Gordon Xu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Timothy%20Mahony"> Timothy Mahony</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bing%20Zhang"> Bing Zhang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Neena%20Mitter"> Neena Mitter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Karishma%20Mody"> Karishma Mody</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Sheep flystrike is one of the most economically important diseases affecting the Australian sheep and wool industry (>356M/annually).
