Now the two horns<MH7161> were <a href="#fn">[c]</a>long<MH1364>, but one<MH259> was <a href="#fn">[d]</a>longer<MH1364> than<MH4480> the other<MH8145>, with the <a href="#fn">[e]</a>longer<MH1364> one<MH1364> coming<MH5927> up<MH5927> last<MH314>. <a href="/daniel/8-4.htm">4</a>I saw<MH7200> the ram<MH352a> butting<MH5055> westward<MH3220>, northward<MH6828>, and southward<MH5045>, and no<MH3808> other beasts<MH2421b> could stand<MH5975> against<MH6440> him nor<MH369> was<MH369> there<MH369> anyone<MH369> to rescue<MH5337> from his <a href="#fn">[f]</a>power<MH3027>, but he did<MH6213a> as he pleased<MH7522> and made<MH1431> himself great<MH1431>. <a href="/daniel/8-5.htm">5</a>While I was observing<MH995>, behold<MH2009>, a male<MH6842> goat<MH6842> was coming<MH935> from the west<MH4628> over<MH5921> the surface<MH6440> of the entire<MH3605> earth<MH776> without<MH369> touching<MH5060> the ground<MH776>; and the goat<MH6842> had a prominent<MH2380> horn<MH7161> between<MH996> his eyes<MH5869>. <a href="/daniel/8-6.htm">6</a>He came<MH935> up to the ram<MH352a> that had the two horns<MH7161>, which<MH834> I had seen<MH7200> standing<MH5975> in front<MH6440> of the canal<MH180>, and rushed<MH7323> at him in his mighty<MH3581b> wrath<MH2534>. <a href="/daniel/8-7.htm">7</a>And I saw<MH7200> him come<MH5060> up beside<MH681a> the ram<MH352a>, and he was<MH4843> enraged<MH4843> at him; and he struck<MH5221> the ram<MH352a> and smashed<MH7665> his two<MH8147> horns<MH7161>, and the ram<MH352a> had<MH1961> no<MH3808> strength<MH3581b> to withstand<MH5975> him. So he hurled<MH7993> him to the ground<MH776> and trampled<MH7429> on<MH7429> him, and there was no<MH3808> one to rescue<MH5337> the ram<MH352a> from his <a href="#fn">[g]</a>power<MH3027>. <a href="/daniel/8-8.htm">8</a>Then the male<MH6842> goat<MH5795> made<MH1431> himself exceedingly<MH5704, 3966> great<MH1431>. But once he became<MH6105a> powerful<MH6105a>, the large<MH1419> horn<MH7161> was broken<MH7665>; and in<MH8478> its place<MH8478> four<MH702> prominent<MH2380> horns came<MH5927> up<MH5927> toward the four<MH702> winds<MH7307> of heaven<MH8064>. The Little Horn<a href="/daniel/8-9.htm">9</a>And out<MH3318> of one<MH259> of them came<MH3318> a rather small<MH6810> horn<MH7161> which grew<MH1431> exceedingly<MH3499a> great<MH1431> toward<MH413> the south<MH5045>, toward<MH413> the east<MH4217>, and toward<MH413> the <a href="#fn">[h]</a>Beautiful<MH6643a> Land. <a href="/daniel/8-10.htm">10</a>It grew<MH1431> up<MH1431> to the heavenly<MH8064> <a href="#fn">[i]</a>lights<MH6635>, and some<MH4480> of the <a href="#fn">[j]</a>lights<MH6635>, <a href="#fn">[k]</a>that is, some<MH4480> of the stars<MH3556> it threw<MH5307> down<MH5307> to the earth<MH776>, and it trampled<MH7429> them. <a href="/daniel/8-11.htm">11</a>It even exalted<MH1431> itself <a href="#fn">[l]</a>to be equal<MH5704> with the <a href="#fn">[m]</a>Commander<MH8269> of the army<MH6635>; and it removed<MH7311> the regular<MH8548> sacrifice<MH8548> from Him, and the place<MH4349> of His sanctuary<MH4720> was overthrown<MH7993>. <a href="/daniel/8-12.htm">12</a>And because of <a href="#fn">[n]</a>an offense<MH6588> the army<MH6635> will be given<MH5414> to the horn along<MH5921> with<MH5921> the regular<MH8548> sacrifice<MH8548>; and it will hurl<MH7993> truth<MH571> to the ground<MH776> and do<MH6213a> as it pleases and be<MH6743b> successful<MH6743b>. <a href="/daniel/8-13.htm">13</a>Then I heard<MH8085> a holy<MH6918> one<MH6918> speaking<MH1696>, and another<MH259> holy<MH6918> one<MH6918> said<MH559> to that particular<MH6423> one<MH6423> who was speaking<MH1696>, “How<MH4970> long<MH5704, 4970> will the vision<MH2377> about the regular<MH8548> sacrifice<MH8548> apply, <a href="#fn">[o]</a>while the offense<MH6588> causes<MH8074> horror<MH8074>, so as to allow<MH5414> both the sanctuary<MH6944> and the army<MH6635> <a href="#fn">[p]</a>to be trampled<MH4823>?” <a href="/daniel/8-14.htm">14</a>And he said<MH559> to me, “For 2,300<MH505, 7969, 3967> evenings<MH6153> and mornings<MH1242>; then the sanctuary<MH6944> will be <a href="#fn">[q]</a>properly<MH6663> restored<MH6663>.” Interpretation of the Vision<a href="/daniel/8-15.htm">15</a>When I, Daniel<MH1840>, had seen<MH7200> the vision<MH2377>, I sought<MH1245> <a href="#fn">[r]</a>to understand<MH998> it; and behold<MH2009>, standing<MH5975> before<MH5048> me was one <a href="#fn">[s]</a>who<MH4758> looked<MH4758> like a man<MH1397>. <a href="/daniel/8-16.htm">16</a>And I heard<MH8085> the voice<MH6963> of a man<MH120> between<MH996> the banks of Ulai<MH195>, and he called<MH7121> out<MH7121> and said<MH559>, “Gabriel<MH1403>, explain<MH995> the vision<MH4758> to this<MH1975> man.” <a href="/daniel/8-17.htm">17</a>So he came<MH935> near<MH681a> to where<MH5977> I was standing<MH5977>, and when he came<MH935> I was frightened<MH1204> and fell<MH5307> on my face<MH6440>; and he said<MH559> to me, “Son<MH1121> of man<MH120>, understand<MH995> that the vision<MH2377> pertains to the time<MH6256> of the end<MH7093>.” <a href="/daniel/8-18.htm">18</a>Now while he was talking<MH1696> with me, I was<MH7290a> dazed<MH7290a> with my face<MH6440> to the ground<MH776>; but he touched<MH5060> me and made me stand<MH5975> at my place<MH5977>. <a href="/daniel/8-19.htm">19</a>And he said<MH559>, “Behold<MH2009>, I am going to inform<MH3045> you of what<MH834> will occur<MH1961> at the final<MH319> period<MH319> of the indignation<MH2195>, because<MH3588> it pertains to the appointed<MH4150> time<MH4150> of the end<MH7093>. The Ram’s Identity<a href="/daniel/8-20.htm">20</a>The ram<MH352a> which<MH834> you saw<MH7200> with the two horns<MH7161> represents the kings<MH4428> of Media<MH4074> and Persia<MH6539>. The Goat<a href="/daniel/8-21.htm">21</a>The shaggy<MH8163a> <a href="#fn">[t]</a>goat<MH5795> represents the <a href="#fn">[u]</a>kingdom<MH4428> of Greece<MH3120>, and the large<MH1419> horn<MH7161> that is between<MH996> his eyes<MH5869> is the first<MH7223> king<MH4428>. <a href="/daniel/8-22.htm">22</a>The broken<MH7665> horn and the four<MH702> horns that came<MH5975> up<MH5975> in<MH8478> its place<MH8478> represent four<MH702> kingdoms<MH4438> which will arise<MH5975> from his nation<MH1471>, although not with his power<MH3581b>. <poetry><a href="/daniel/8-23.htm">23</a>“And in the latter<MH319> period<MH319> of their <a href="#fn">[v]</a>dominion<MH4438>, <t>When the wrongdoers<MH6586> have <a href="#fn">[w]</a>run<MH8552> their course, <t>A king<MH4428> will arise<MH5975>, <t><a href="#fn">[x]</a>Insolent<MH5794, 6440> and skilled<MH995> in <a href="#fn">[y]</a>intrigue<MH2420>. <poetry><a href="/daniel/8-24.htm">24</a>“And his power<MH3581b> will be<MH6105a> mighty<MH6105a>, but not by his own power<MH3581b>, <t>And he will <a href="#fn">[z]</a>destroy<MH7843> to<MH6381> an<MH6381> extraordinary<MH6381> degree<MH6381> <t>And be<MH6743b> successful<MH6743b> and do<MH6213a> as he pleases; <t>He will <a href="#fn">[aa]</a>destroy<MH7843> mighty<MH6099> men<MH6099> and <a href="#fn">[ab]</a>the holy<MH6918> people<MH5971a>. <poetry><a href="/daniel/8-25.htm">25</a>“And through<MH5921> his shrewdness<MH7922> <t>He will make<MH6743b> deceit<MH4820> a<MH6743b> success<MH6743b> by his <a href="#fn">[ac]</a>influence<MH3027>; <t>And he will make<MH1431> himself great<MH1431> in his <a href="#fn">[ad]</a>own mind<MH3824>, <t>And he will <a href="#fn">[ae]</a>destroy<MH7843> many<MH7227a> while they are <a href="#fn">[af]</a>at ease<MH7962>. <t>He will even <a href="#fn">[ag]</a>oppose<MH5975, 5921> the Prince<MH8269> of princes<MH8269>, <t>But he will be broken<MH7665> without<MH657> <a href="#fn">[ah]</a>human<MH3027> agency<MH3027>. <poetry><a href="/daniel/8-26.htm">26</a>“And the vision<MH4758> of the evenings<MH6153> and mornings<MH1242> <t>Which<MH834> has been told<MH559> is true<MH571>; <t>But as for you, keep<MH5640> the vision<MH2377> secret<MH5640>, <t>Because<MH3588> it pertains to many<MH7227a> days<MH3117> in the future.” <a href="/daniel/8-27.htm">27</a>Then I, Daniel<MH1840>, was <a href="#fn">[ai]</a>exhausted<MH1961> and sick<MH2470a> for days<MH3117>.
