In <a href="https://www.noaa.gov/news-release/new-noaa-animated-series-takes-kids-on-educational-climate-weather-adventures">NOAA’s</a> new five-part animated science series: “<a href="https://oceantoday.noaa.gov/teekandtom/">Teek and Tom Explore Planet Earth,</a>” an intrepid student explorer Teek from planet Queloz teams up with NOAA climate scientist Tom Di Liberto to explore the weather and climate of planet Earth. </p> <p>The series covers a range of Earth science topics, including how the ocean influences weather and climate, and the technologies scientists use to gather information about our planet and its changing climate.</p> <p>Educators can take these topics beyond the screen and into their classroom with national standards-aligned lesson plans developed to supplement each video. Designed for students in the fourth through sixth grades, the lessons are compiled into an <a href="https://oceantoday.noaa.gov/teekandtom/educators-guide.html">Educator’s Guide</a> with comprehensive supplementary materials. Through the exploration and investigation of NOAA data, visualizations, and other content, the lessons allow students to build knowledge of and skills associated with Earth science concepts.</p> <p>In addition to being an engaging classroom resource, the series is ideal to show in museums, aquariums, and other informal learning venues where students and parents of all ages are curious about science.</p> <p>An understanding of how the Earth works as a system and how humans interact with the Earth is important for all inhabitants of our planet.
