På baggrund af empiri genereret via forskellige forskningsmetoder diskuteres resultaterne i lyset af en fællesteoretisk forståelse af sekulære, religiøse og spirituelle aspekter i menneskelivet. I artiklen fokuserer vi i særlig grad på, hvordan det at blive mor kan aktualisere eksistentielle overvejelser og hvordan resonansen til samme aktualisering i forbindelse med døden, kan informere sundhedsvæsenets svangreomsorg. Med begrundelse i to sammenfattende argumenter, det eksistentielle/åndelige og det sundhedsfaglige, argumenterer vi for, at eksistentiel og åndelig omsorg potentielt kan være relevant ved livets Her skrev jeg: »Han og hans ligesindede tør ikke binde an med en faglig debat om identitetsteori og dansk identitetshistorie.« Jeg må i lyset af hans replik konstatere, at han stadigvaek ikke tør involvere sig i en sådan debat. Jeg kan ligeledes fastslå, at han ikke har vaeret i stand til at fremlaegge et eneste argument, der kan imødegå min påvisning af, at hele hans historiedidaktiske opgør er baseret på grove brud på god citatskik og debatredelighed. Hertil kommer, at han heller ikke har set sig i stand til at tilbagevise min påpegning af, at hans fremstilling af-hvad han selv benaevner-»historiebevidsthedsdidaktikkens karakteristika« er aldeles forvansket og misvisende. Men hvor Holm Thomsen ikke er videre effen, hvad angår kildelaesning og kildebrug, er han saerdeles effen, hvad angår at opdigte historier om forholdene i den danske universitetsverden. Bogens undertitel, The Art of Living Dangerously, referer til Michel Foucault, der i sin bog Biopolitikkens fødsel betegner liberalismens slagord som &quot;lev livet farligt&quot; (s. 65). Foucault karakteriserer dét, at mennesket opdrages i farens vaesen, som en af liberalismens vigtigste følger. Evans og Reid, henholdsvis er lektor ved Bristol Universitet og professor ved Lapland Universitet, begge i internationale relationer, viderefører dette tankegods og undersøger, hvilket menneske der opdrages, når farens vaesen er total, og når subjektiveringen betinges af den resiliente ideologi? Evans og Reids ambition er tofoldig: De vil for det første levere den første substantielle politiske kritik af konceptet resiliens (s. xi). For det andet vil de revitalisere den kollektive forestillingsevne (s. 201) og anlaegge byggestenene til en poetisk subjektivitet (s. 193). Den poetiske subjektivitet forholder sig modsat den resiliente subjektivitet, hverken apolitisk eller nihilistisk til sin eksistens (s. 37). Evans og Reid indleder med at analysere udviklingen fra sikkerhed til resiliens. Resiliens er ifølge dem en ny dominerende mentalitet i den nuvaerende neoliberale regeringskunst. Resiliens må ifølge Evans og Reid analyseres, hvis vi ønsker at forstå den neoliberale magtudøvelse. Resiliens defineres fra officielle kilder, her FN&#39;s klimapanel (IPCC), som et systems &quot;evne til at anticipere, absorbere, rumme, eller komme sig over effekterne af en potentiel skadelig begivenhed på en rettidig og effektiv facon, og samtidig sikre bevarelsen, retableringen, eller forbedringen af dets essentielle basale strukturer og funktioner&quot; (s. 6). The first register concerns the abbot&#39;s biography, the argument being that the familial, societal and ecclesiastical circles inhabited by Rancé before and after his conversion are more closely connected than has been traditionally seen. The second is dedicated to the position of La Trappe in contemporary society and a discussion of the continuous traffic across the monastic wall of texts, guests, rumours and myths. The third involves an examination of the role of withdrawal and engagement in Rancé&#39;s reform and its ascetic programme, showing how the abbot expounds the central notion of solitude as a place, a condition and a strategy. Den hjemkomst er uventet og ubelejlig for hans hustrus mange bøvede bejlere. I kender historien og ved at den er rigtig god. Men også for den person der kommer hjem, kan hjemkomsten vaere uventet. Det forekommer når nogen har rejst en lang og snørklet tur fra det ene fremmede sted til det andet-og så opdager at det sidste fremmede sted de er kommet til, dét er faktisk deres hjem. Det kan også vaere en god historie. Sådan én handler denne forelaesning om. Historien begynder med en studerende fra rigets udkant der rejser af sted til den størst mulige by for at laese litteraturvidenskab. I dette fag, viser det sig, er der kun én underviser, en aeldre professor, der ca. hvert andet semester laeser op af gulnede notater fra før Anden Verdenskrig, og ca. hvert andet semester holder han så frisemester. Han giver os dog ét godt råd, nemlig at vi skal shoppe rundt og følge undervisning i andre fag. Det gør vi, og det laerer vi meget af. Et studenteroprør er imens ved at traekke op i horisonten-det bryder løs et par år senere. Vor student, som så småt er mig selv, oplever dette studenteroprør på naermeste hold. En af lederne af oprørets første bølge bor på samme kollegium og har sammen med studiekammerater besat sit institut-døgnet rundt.
