CARE provides direct assistance to victims and survivors of sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking, sexual harassment, and other forms of violence.</p><p dir="ltr">The Victim Assistance Fund is used to reduce costs survivors incurred because of the incident(s). By 1975 Dr. Bridwell became the Health Center Director - a position she held for 28 years until her retirement in 2003. Improving quality and access to sexual and reproductive health were Dr. Bridwell鈥檚 passion, leading her to establish the first Women鈥檚 Health Clinic at the University Health Center. This clinic, now known as the Gynecologic, Reproductive, and Sexual Health Unit remains in existence today. The fund established in her name helps to support operations and medical care in this unit. Dr. Bridwell was instrumental in achieving the Health Center鈥檚 accreditation through the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care - accreditation that became the standard for university health centers across the nation. One of the first universities to do so, the University Health Center has achieved accreditation continuously since that time.</p><p dir="ltr">The Gynecologic, Reproductive and Sexual Health Clinic carries on Dr. Bridwell鈥檚 passion for quality and accessible health care. Medical services supported by this Fund cover a broad spectrum of gynecologic care to students including contraceptive counseling and care, pregnancy testing, and medical care to evaluate and treat all aspects of breast, pelvic and sexual health. Bodison Award Fund supports awards for outstanding student volunteers or student employees at the University Health Center. Dr. Bodison joined the University Health Center in 1979. She served the University community for nearly 35 years including ten as Director. She came back from retirement in the fall of 2019 as Interim Director and her steadfast leadership guided the University in its response to COVID-19. College campuses can be a difficult environment for students to maintain their sobriety. This is due to many factors, including living away from home, insufficient on-campus support services, and, most notably, the pervasive heavy drinking culture that often dictates the social environment. However, social support has been shown to be a significant protective factor against relapse. Therefore, providing opportunities for students in recovery or considering recovery to connect with others is therefore an important aspect of fostering an environment that promotes success among students in recovery.</p><p dir="ltr">Your gift would help fund substance-free events and meetings for students in recovery or considering recovery. This fund will further enhance our mission of diversity & inclusion, and will work to assure continued quality Medical and Behavioral Health Services for this dynamic and growing community. Services to be supported include</p><ul><li><strong>Medical care</strong> including financial assistance for prescriptions and diagnostic testing not covered by insurance</li><li><strong>Behavioral Health care</strong> and limited, ongoing therapy </li><li><strong>Gender Affirming Care</strong> intake appointments for hormone care</li></ul><p dir="ltr">Although all students are required to have health insurance, many LGBTQ+ students risk losing that insurance, family connections, housing, and at times even tuition when they access services related to their sexual orientation and gender identity.
