class='textblock'><h3>США и Арктический регион</h3> <p>Соединенные Штаты стали арктической страной после покупки Аляски в 1867 году. К регионам за Полярным кругом относятся округ Норт-Слоуп, Северо-Западный арктический округ и район переписи населения Нома. Аляска - самый крупный и наименее густонаселенный штат США. В штате около 737 400 жителей, более половины из которых проживают в двух крупных городах Анкоридж и Фэрбенкс.</p> <p>Добыча нефти и горнодобывающая промышленность были основными отраслями промышленности на Аляске. Другие известные отрасли включают рыболовство и туризм, важность и спрос на которые растет. Почти два миллиона человек ежегодно приезжают на Аляску, с целью посетить ее огромные ледники, горы и дикую природу.</p> <p>Соединенные Штаты имеют различные интересы в Арктике, включая национальную безопасность и безопасность страны, защиту окружающей среды, устойчивое развитие, содействие сотрудничеству и сотрудничеству с другими арктическими странами, вовлечение коренных народов в принятие решений, которые их затрагивают, а также поддержку и продвижение научных исследований во всем регионе. Из этих народов юпики, атабаски и инупиаки живут за Полярным кругом и в значительной степени зависят от охоты и рыболовства. Приблизительно 18 процентов населения Аляски составляют коренные жители.</p> <h3>США в Арктическом совете</h3> <p>Соединенные Штаты Америки впервые председательствовали в Арктическом Совете с 1998-2000 гг., а затем с 2015 по 2017 гг. На протяжении своего первого председательства приоритеты Соединенных Штатов включали:</p> <ul> <li>Здоровье человека, включая телемедицину и эпиднадзор за заболеваниями</li> <li>Последствия изменения климата в Арктике</li> <li>Устойчивое развитие арктического туризма</li> </ul> <div> <p style="margin-left:0px;margin-right:0px;text-align:left;">На протяжении всего своего последнего председательства <li>Соединенные Штаты совместно с другими семью арктическими государствами запустили Международное циркумполярное наблюдение (ICS) общерегиональную систему наблюдения за заболеваниями, возглавляемую центрами США по контролю и профилактике заболеваний.</li> <li>Соединенные Штаты запустили Оценку воздействия на климат Арктики (ACIA), первую в истории всестороннюю научную оценку последствий изменения климата в Арктике, которая была завершена под председательством Исландии в 2004 г.</li> <li>Соединенные Штаты и Россия выступили сопредседателями специальной целевой группы по научному сотрудничеству под эгидой Арктического Совета, что привело к заключению юридически обязывающего “Соглашения об укреплении международного арктического научного сотрудничества”, которое было подписано министрами иностранных дел в ходе министерской сессии Арктического Совета 11 мая 2017 г. в Фэрбенксе, Аляска.</li> <li>США выступали в качестве председателя обеих экспертных групп по реагированию на морскую окружающую среду и поиску и спасанию при выполнении “Соглашения о сотрудничестве в области обеспечения готовности к загрязнению морской среды нефтью и реагирования на него в Арктике”
