The prevalence of HF has increased as the patient’s ages and it is the major cause of the high mortality rate in adults. A successful identification and progression of HF can be helpful to reduce the individual and social burden from this syndrome. In this study, we use a real data set of cardiac patients to propose a classification model for the identification and progression of HF. The data set has divided into three age groups, namely young, adult, and old and then each age group have further classified into four classes according to patient’s current physical condition. Contemporary Data Mining classification algorithms have been applied to each individual class of every age group to identify the HF. Decision Tree (DT) gives the highest accuracy of 90% and outperform all other algorithms. Our model accurately diagnoses different stages of HF for each age group and it can be very useful for the early prediction of HF. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=decision%20tree" title="decision tree">decision tree</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heart%20failure" title=" heart failure"> heart failure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=data%20mining" title=" data mining"> data mining</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=classification%20model" title=" classification model"> classification model</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/62215/heart-failure-identification-and-progression-by-classifying-cardiac-patients" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/62215.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">402</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8</span> MHD Stagnation Point Flow towards a Shrinking Sheet with Suction in an Upper-Convected Maxwell (UCM) Fluid</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=K.%20Jafar">K. Using a similarity transformation, the governing system of partial differential equations is first transformed into a system of ordinary differential equations, which is then solved numerically using a finite-difference scheme known as the Keller-box method. Numerical results are obtained for the flow and thermal fields for various values of the shrinking/stretching parameter lambda, the magnetic parameter M, the elastic parameter K, the Prandtl number Pr, the suction parameter s, the heat generation parameter Q, and the exponent p. The results indicate the existence of dual solutions for the shrinking sheet up to a critical value lambda_c whose value depends on the value of M, K, and s. In the presence of internal heat absorbtion (Q<0), the surface heat transfer rate decreases with increasing p but increases with parameter Q and s, when the sheet is either stretched or shrunk. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=magnetohydrodynamic%20%28MHD%29" title="magnetohydrodynamic (MHD)">magnetohydrodynamic (MHD)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=boundary%20layer%20flow" title=" boundary layer flow"> boundary layer flow</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=UCM%20fluid" title=" UCM fluid"> UCM fluid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stagnation%20point" title=" stagnation point"> stagnation point</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=shrinking%20sheet" title=" shrinking sheet"> shrinking sheet</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/8588/mhd-stagnation-point-flow-towards-a-shrinking-sheet-with-suction-in-an-upper-convected-maxwell-ucm-fluid" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/8588.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">354</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7</span> Transformation of Glycals to Chiral Fused Aromatic Cores via Annulative π-Extension Reaction with Arynes</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nazar%20Hussain">Nazar Hussain</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Debaraj%20Mukherjee"> Debaraj Mukherjee</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Carbohydrate-derived chiral intermediates which contain arrays of defined stereocenters have found enormous applications in organic synthesis due to their inherent functional group, stereochemical and structural diversities as well as their ready availability. Here, we show that The Diels Alder addition of arynes to appropriately substituted vinyl/aryl glycals followed by π-extension via pyran ring opening smoothly furnished meta-disubstituted fused aromatic cores containing a stereo-defined orthogonally protected chiral side chain. The method is broad in terms of aryl homologation affording benzene, naphthalene, and phenanthrene derivatives. Base-induced deprotonation followed by cleavage of the allylic C-O bond appears to be the crucial steps leading to the development of aromaticity, which is the driving force behind the annulative π-extension process. The present protocol can be used for the synthesis of meta-disubstituted naphthalene aldehydes and substrates for aldolases. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=vinyl%2FC-2%20aryl%20glycal" title="vinyl/C-2 aryl glycal">vinyl/C-2 aryl glycal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=arynes" title=" arynes"> arynes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cyclization" title=" cyclization"> cyclization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ring%20opening" title=" ring opening"> ring opening</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/91831/transformation-of-glycals-to-chiral-fused-aromatic-cores-via-annulative-p-extension-reaction-with-arynes" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/91831.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">255</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6</span> Oral Contraceptic Pill Associated Hypertension on the Sex Productive Women in the Andalas Public Health Center, Padang, Indonesia</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Armenia%20Nazar">Armenia Nazar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sally%20M.%20J.%20Anggelya"> Sally M. This cross-sectional analysis study was made to observe the incidence of hypertension on the reproductive women (20-49 years old) with several risk factors who use contraceptive pills. Data was collected from June - October 2016 in the Andalas Public Health Center, East Padang District, Indonesia. An amount of 167 respondents who were taken using consecutive sampling technique were participate in this study. Data of social demography, contraceptive used, duration of use, hypertension risk factors (age, family history, central obesity, body mass index, physical activity, and stress) were collected and analyzed statistically using Chi-Square analysis. Significant was taken at p < 0.05. Results showed that the woman with contraceptive pill was tent to get hypertension (OR = 3,90 and p < 0,001). In addition, woman with a family history OR of 6,77 (p = 0,09), mild physical activity OR of 3,67 (p = 0,33), moderate physical activity OR of 3,33 (p = 0,16), and stressed OR of 5.11 (p = 0.18). These indicated that the contraceptive pill user is 3.9 times more risk to develop hypertension than non-users, especially one with a family history of hypertension. Other risk factors were not associated with hypertension risk in these sex productive women. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hypertension" title="hypertension">hypertension</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=oral%20contraceptive" title=" oral contraceptive"> oral contraceptive</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sex%20productive%20woman" title=" sex productive woman"> sex productive woman</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=risk%20factors" title=" risk factors"> risk factors</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/72577/oral-contraceptic-pill-associated-hypertension-on-the-sex-productive-women-in-the-andalas-public-health-center-padang-indonesia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/72577.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">298</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5</span> The Value of Serum Procalcitonin in Patients with Acute Musculoskeletal Infections</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mustafa%20Al-Yaseen">Mustafa Al-Yaseen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Haider%20Mohammed%20Mahdi"> Haider Mohammed Mahdi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Haider%20Ali%20Al%E2%80%93Zahid"> Haider Ali Al–Zahid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nazar%20S.%20Haddad"> Nazar S. There is no single laboratory marker which is sensitive and specific in diagnosing these infections accurately. White blood cell count, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, and C-reactive protein are not specific as they can also be elevated in conditions other than bacterial infections. Materials Culture and sensitivity is not a true gold standard due to its varied positivity rates. Serum Procalcitonin is one of the new laboratory markers for pyogenic infections. The objective of this study is to assess the value of PCT in the diagnosis of soft tissue, bone, and joint infections. Patients and Methods: Patients of all age groups (seventy-four patients) with a diagnosis of musculoskeletal infection are prospectively included in this study. All patients were subjected to White blood cell count, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, C-reactive protein, and serum Procalcitonin measurements. A healthy non infected outpatient group (twenty-two patients) taken as a control group and underwent the same evaluation steps as the study group. Results: The study group showed mean Procalcitonin levels of 1.3 ng/ml. Procalcitonin, at 0.5 ng/ml, was (42.6%) sensitive and (95.5%) specific in diagnosing of musculoskeletal infections with (positive predictive value of 87.5% and negative predictive value of 48.3%) and (positive likelihood ratio of 9.3 and negative likelihood ratio of 0.6). Conclusion: Serum Procalcitonin, at a cut – off of 0.5 ng/ml, is a specific but not sensitive marker in the diagnosis of musculoskeletal infections, and it can be used effectively to rule in the diagnosis of infection but not to rule out it. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=procalcitonin" title="procalcitonin">procalcitonin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=infection" title=" infection"> infection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=labratory%20markers" title=" labratory markers"> labratory markers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=musculoskeletal" title=" musculoskeletal"> musculoskeletal</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/144257/the-value-of-serum-procalcitonin-in-patients-with-acute-musculoskeletal-infections" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/144257.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">163</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4</span> Analysis of Force Convection in Bandung Triga Reactor Core Plate Types Fueled Using Coolod-N2</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=K.%20A.%20Sudjatmi">K. There is an inverse relationship between the risk of chronic human diseases and the consumption of polyphenolic rich diet. Dioscorea alata is a plant species with several undocumented landraces. In this study, several landraces of water yam with distinct morphological features were collected from all over kerala. Distinct variation in morphological feature among landraces was tuber colour and only those landraces which expressed consistent morphological characters for constitutively two growing seasons were included in the study. Plants were categorized according to the L*a*b* colour attributes of tuber extracts. There were five categories, red, pink, orange, yellow and white. Total phenol, flavanoid and anthocyanin content of the tuber extracts were measured spectroscopically and correlated with antioxidant properties determined by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazyl-hydrate free radical method and ferric reducing antioxidant power assay. Landraces showed statistically significant difference in all the parameters studied and strong correlation were observed between total phenol and antioxidant activity. Out of the five categories orange coloured tubers showed relatively high phenol and flavanoid content.Colour variations of tuber extracts correlated with anthocyanin quantity and polymeric nature of anthocyanins. This study helps to identify and categorize landraces of D.alata with potential health benefits and commercial applications. Distinct colour characteristics of tuber could be useful in the field of natural colorants. This study also aimed to document and preserve landraces of water yams for further study and research in this area. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=the%20antioxidant%20property" title="the antioxidant property">the antioxidant property</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=anthocyanins" title=" anthocyanins"> anthocyanins</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=polyphenols" title=" polyphenols"> polyphenols</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=water%20yam" title=" water yam"> water yam</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/97322/a-comparative-study-on-the-phenolics-composition-and-antioxidant-properties-of-water-yam-landraces-in-kerala-india" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/97322.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">131</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2</span> Investigating the Significance of Ground Covers and Partial Root Zone Drying Irrigation for Water Conservation Weed Suppression and Quality Traits of Wheat</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Aown%20Sammar%20Raza">Muhammad Aown Sammar Raza</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Salman%20Ahmad"> Salman Ahmad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Farrukh%20Saleem"> Muhammad Farrukh Saleem</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Saqlain%20Zaheer"> Muhammad Saqlain Zaheer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rashid%20Iqbal"> Rashid Iqbal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Imran%20Haider"> Imran Haider</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Usman%20Aslam"> Muhammad Usman Aslam</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Adnan%20Nazar"> Muhammad Adnan Nazar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> One of the main negative effects of climate change is the increasing scarcity of water worldwide, especially for irrigation purpose. In order to ensure food security with less available water, there is a need to adopt easy and economic techniques. Two of the effective techniques are; use of ground covers and partial root zone drying (PRD). A field experiment was arranged to find out the most suitable mulch for PRD irrigation system in wheat. The experiment was comprised of two irrigation methods (I0 = irrigation on both sides of roots and I1= irrigation to only one side of the root as alternate irrigation) and four ground covers (M0= open ground without any cover, M1= black plastic cover, M2= wheat straw cover and M4= cotton sticks cover). More plant height, spike length, number of spikelets and number of grains were found in full irrigation treatment. While water use efficiency and grain nutrient (NPK) contents were more in PRD irrigation. All soil covers suppress the weeds and significantly influenced the yield attributes, final yield as well as the grain nutrient contents. However black plastic cover performed the best. It was concluded that joint use of both techniques was more effective for water conservation and increasing grain yield than their sole application and combination of PRD with black plastic mulch performed the best than other ground covers combination used in the experiment. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ground%20covers" title="ground covers">ground covers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=partial%20root%20zone%20drying" title=" partial root zone drying"> partial root zone drying</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=grain%20yield" title=" grain yield"> grain yield</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quality%20traits" title=" quality traits"> quality traits</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=WUE" title=" WUE"> WUE</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=weed%20control%20efficiency" title=" weed control efficiency"> weed control efficiency</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/97609/investigating-the-significance-of-ground-covers-and-partial-root-zone-drying-irrigation-for-water-conservation-weed-suppression-and-quality-traits-of-wheat" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/97609.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">248</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1</span> Physiological and Biochemical Based Analysis to Assess the Efficacy of Mulch under Partial Root Zone Drying in Wheat</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Salman%20Ahmad">Salman Ahmad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Aown%20Sammar%20Raza"> Muhammad Aown Sammar Raza</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Farrukh%20Saleem"> Muhammad Farrukh Saleem</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rashid%20Iqbal"> Rashid Iqbal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Saqlain%20Zaheer"> Muhammad Saqlain Zaheer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Usman%20Aslam"> Muhammad Usman Aslam</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Imran%20Haider"> Imran Haider</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Adnan%20Nazar"> Muhammad Adnan Nazar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Ali"> Muhammad Ali</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Among the various abiotic stresses, drought stress is one of the most challenging for field crops. Wheat is one of the major staple food of the world, which is highly affected by water deficit stress in the current scenario of climate change. In order to ensure food security by depleting water resources, there is an urgent need to adopt technologies which result in sufficient crop yield with less water consumption. Mulching and partial rootzone drying (PRD) are two important management techniques used for water conservation and to mitigate the negative impacts of drought. The experiment was conducted to screen out the best-suited mulch for wheat under PRD system. Two water application techniques (I1= full irrigation I2= PRD irrigation) and four mulch treatments (M0= un-mulched, M1= black plastic mulch, M2= wheat straw mulch and M4= cotton sticks mulch) were conducted in completely randomized design with four replications. The treatment, black plastic mulch was performed the best than other mulch treatments. For irrigation levels, higher values of growth, physiological and water-related parameters were recorded in control treatment while, quality traits and enzymatic activities were higher under partial root zone drying. The current study concluded that adverse effects of drought on wheat can be significantly mitigated by using mulches but black plastic mulch was best suited for partial rootzone drying irrigation system in wheat. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=antioxidants" title="antioxidants">antioxidants</a>, <a
