Pero mucho antes estaba el rito, la vieja costumbre, la tradici\u00f3n, esa manifestaci\u00f3n ancestral, vern\u00e1cula, con claro signo antropol\u00f3gico. La Junta -que somos todos, aunque no muy juntos- tras los desvelos del com\u00fan, lo apellid\u00f3 mascarada y al menos la catalogaci\u00f3n de mi recordado amigo y profesor Bernardo Calvo nos permite radiografiar lo recuperado despu\u00e9s de dos mil a\u00f1os o m\u00e1s. Se dice pronto. Ahora, habr\u00eda que a\u00f1adir a la lista oficial, m\u00e1s o menos, un centenar m\u00e1s. Y ojito que en las aldeas los informantes mayorines ya est\u00e1n largando de c\u00f3mo era antes\u2026 Son las mascaradas de invierno, cada vez m\u00e1s por toda la regi\u00f3n, y milagrosamente salvadas, recuperadas y reinventadas, que tambi\u00e9n, el 90%. Creo que ya es tanta su importancia cultural, su m\u00fasculo rural y su rasgo extraordinario que conviene unir, juntar, orientar y presumir de liderazgo en esta materia. Volver\u00e9 con los cencerros y con los viejos carnavales. Los de las crines, el saco, los cuernos, la nube de ceniza y el colorido del \u00d3rbigo. Pero ahora perm\u00edtaseme sucumbir a la marabunta. Carnaval, carnaval \/ carnaval te quiero, que populariz\u00f3 Georgie Dann, que con su m\u00fasica ligera acab\u00f3 por convertirnos en p\u00e1rvulos a todos. En esta regi\u00f3n que se nos deshilacha siempre se celebraron, y a\u00fan siguen, exitosos carnavales de fanfarria, copla y disfraz. El del Toro, en Ciudad Rodrigo, con Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda \u201cPesetos\u201d y sus trajes de botones que no llegu\u00e9 a vestir; el de La Ba\u00f1eza con mi amigo Antonio Od\u00f3n entre las corcheas, la parodia y la copla; el de Cebreros, con ese baile de El Rond\u00f3n dando vueltas en la plaza, y el de Toro, que irrumpe de gracia y colorido desde la Torre del Reloj a la Colegiata, que para Fari\u00f1a siempre fue Gran Colegiata. Y para un servidor. Estos cuatro carnavales marcaban la pauta. Hay muchos m\u00e1s, lo intuyo, pero nadie los junta. As\u00ed nos va. Nadie niega ese torbellino alocado disperso por las ciudades, cabeceras y pueblos. Todo un fen\u00f3meno el de la murga del carnaval. Ni\u00f1os, j\u00f3venes, pe\u00f1as y agrupaciones se echan a la calle. Ya suena alegre el carnaval del color\u00edn y los abuelos, emocionados, contemplan a su nieto disfrazado de arlequ\u00edn. Poco frecuente pero aqu\u00ed en esta \u201cmultidiversa\u201d regi\u00f3n en este periodo nos embarga la gracia, la chispa, el ingenio y nuestra capacidad para trasgredir. Que nadie se rasgue las vestiduras, seg\u00fan mis cuentas de viejo, el carnaval va camino de competir con la Pasi\u00f3n de Cristo. Que madre no me lo lea. Y ahora al grano: a luchar por la sardina entre el carnaval y la mascarada. Por la batucada y el tamboril. Servidor brinda por Don Julio Caro Baroja, que est\u00e1 en los cielos. Y en la biblioteca. el carnaval del colorín llego y se quedó. Pero mucho antes estaba el rito, la vieja costumbre, la tradición, esa manifestación ancestral, vernácula, con claro signo antropológico. La Junta -que somos todos, aunque no muy juntos- tras los desvelos del común, lo apellidó mascarada y al menos la catalogación de mi recordado amigo y profesor Bernardo Calvo nos permite radiografiar lo recuperado después de dos mil años o más. Se dice pronto. Ahora, habría que añadir a la lista oficial, más o menos, un centenar más. Y ojito que en las aldeas los informantes mayorines ya están largando de cómo era antes… Son las mascaradas de invierno, cada vez más por toda la región, y milagrosamente salvadas, recuperadas y reinventadas, que también, el 90%. Creo que ya es tanta su importancia cultural, su músculo rural y su rasgo extraordinario que conviene unir, juntar, orientar y presumir de liderazgo en esta materia. Volveré con los cencerros y con los viejos carnavales. Los de las crines, el saco, los cuernos, la nube de ceniza y el colorido del Órbigo. Pero ahora permítaseme sucumbir a la marabunta. Carnaval, carnaval / carnaval te quiero, que popularizó Georgie Dann, que con su música ligera acabó por convertirnos en párvulos a todos. En esta región que se nos deshilacha siempre se celebraron, y aún siguen, exitosos carnavales de fanfarria, copla y disfraz. El del Toro, en Ciudad Rodrigo, con José María “Pesetos” y sus trajes de botones que no llegué a vestir; el de La Bañeza con mi amigo Antonio Odón entre las corcheas, la parodia y la copla; el de Cebreros, con ese baile de El Rondón dando vueltas en la plaza, y el de Toro, que irrumpe de gracia y colorido desde la Torre del Reloj a la Colegiata, que para Fariña siempre fue Gran Colegiata. Y para un servidor. Estos cuatro carnavales marcaban la pauta. Hay muchos más, lo intuyo, pero nadie los junta. Así nos va. Nadie niega ese torbellino alocado disperso por las ciudades, cabeceras y pueblos. Todo un fenómeno el de la murga del carnaval. Niños, jóvenes, peñas y agrupaciones se echan a la calle. Ya suena alegre el carnaval del colorín y los abuelos, emocionados, contemplan a su nieto disfrazado de arlequín. Poco frecuente pero aquí en esta “multidiversa” región en este periodo nos embarga la gracia, la chispa, el ingenio y nuestra capacidad para trasgredir. Que nadie se rasgue las vestiduras, según mis cuentas de viejo, el carnaval va camino de competir con la Pasión de Cristo. Que madre no me lo lea. Y ahora al grano: a luchar por la sardina entre el carnaval y la mascarada. Por la batucada y el tamboril. Servidor brinda por Don Julio Caro Baroja, que está en los cielos. Y en la biblioteca.
