So you will eat<MH398> your <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>food<MH3899> to the full<MH7648> and live<MH3427> securely<MH983> in your land<MH776>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>I shall also grant<MH5414> peace<MH7965> in the land<MH776>, so that you may lie<MH7901> down<MH7901>, with no<MH369> one<MH369> to make<MH2729> <i>you</i> afraid<MH2729>. I shall also eliminate<MH7673a> harmful<MH7451a> animals<MH2421b> from the land<MH776>, and no<MH3808> sword<MH2719> will pass<MH5674a> through your land<MH776>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>Instead, you will chase<MH7291> your enemies<MH340>, and they will fall<MH5307> before<MH6440> you by the sword<MH2719>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>five<MH2568> of you will chase<MH7291> a hundred<MH3967>, and a hundred<MH3967> of you will chase<MH7291> ten<MH7233> thousand<MH7233>; and your enemies<MH340> will fall<MH5307> before<MH6440> you by the sword<MH2719>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>So I will turn<MH6437> toward<MH413> you and make<MH6509> you fruitful<MH6509> and multiply<MH7235a> you, and I will confirm<MH6965> My covenant<MH1285> with you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>And you will eat<MH398> the old<MH3465> supply<MH3462>, and clear<MH3318> out<MH3318> the old<MH3465> because<MH4480, 6440> of the new<MH2319>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>Moreover, I will make<MH5414> My <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>dwelling<MH4908> among<MH8432> you, and My soul<MH5315> will not <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>reject<MH1602> you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>I will also walk<MH1980> among<MH8432> you and be your God<MH430>, and you shall be My people<MH5971a>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>I am the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430>, who<MH834> brought<MH3318> you out<MH3318> of the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714> so<MH4480> that<MH4480> <i>you</i> would not<MH4480> be their slaves<MH5650>, and I broke<MH7665> your yoke<MH4133, 5923> and made you walk<MH1980> erect<MH6968>. <p class="hdg">Penalties of Disobedience</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>‘But if<MH518> you do not obey<MH8085> Me and do not carry<MH6213a> out<MH6213a> all<MH3605> these<MH428> commandments<MH4687>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>if<MH518>, instead, you reject<MH3988a> My statutes<MH2708>, and if<MH518> your soul<MH5315> loathes<MH1602> My ordinances<MH4941> so as not to carry<MH6213a> out<MH6213a> all<MH3605> My commandments<MH4687>, <i>but rather</i> to break<MH6565a> My covenant<MH1285>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>I, in<MH637> turn<MH637>, will do<MH6213a> this<MH2088> to you: I will <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>summon<MH6485> a sudden<MH928> terror<MH928> against<MH5921> you, consumption<MH7829> and fever<MH6920> that will make<MH3615> the eyes<MH5869> fail<MH3615> and the soul<MH5315> languish<MH1727>; also, you will sow<MH2232> your seed<MH2233> uselessly<MH7385b>, for your enemies<MH340> will eat<MH398> it. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>And I will set<MH5414> My face<MH6440> against you so that you will be defeated<MH5062> before<MH6440> your enemies<MH340>; and those who hate<MH8130> you will rule<MH7287a> over you, and you will flee<MH5127> when no<MH369> one<MH369> is pursuing<MH7291> you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>If<MH518> also after<MH5704> these<MH428> things<MH428> you do not obey<MH8085> Me, then I will punish<MH3256> you seven<MH7651> times<MH7651> more<MH3254> for your sins<MH2403b>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>I will also break<MH7665> down<MH7665> your pride<MH1347b> of power<MH5797>; and I will make<MH5414> your sky<MH8064> like iron<MH1270> and your earth<MH776> like bronze<MH5154>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>Your strength<MH3581b> will be consumed<MH8552> uselessly<MH7385b>, for your land<MH776> will not yield<MH5414> its produce<MH2981> and the trees<MH6086> of the land<MH776> will not yield<MH5414> their fruit<MH6529>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>‘Yet if<MH518> you <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>show<MH1980> hostility<MH7147> toward<MH5973> Me and are unwilling<MH3808, 14> to obey<MH8085> Me, I will increase<MH3254> the plague<MH4347> on you seven<MH7651> times<MH7651> according to your sins<MH2403b>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>I will also let<MH7971> loose<MH7971> among you the animals<MH2421b> of the field<MH7704>, which will deprive<MH7921> you of<MH7921> your children<MH7921> and eliminate<MH3772> your cattle<MH929>, and reduce<MH4591> your number<MH4591> so that your roads<MH1870> become<MH8074> deserted<MH8074>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>‘And if<MH518> by these<MH428> things<MH428> you do not learn<MH3256> your lesson<MH3256> regarding Me, but you show<MH1980> hostility<MH7147> toward<MH5973> Me, <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>then I in<MH637> turn<MH637> will show<MH1980> hostility<MH7147> toward<MH5973> you; and I, even<MH1571> I, will strike<MH5221> you seven<MH7651> times<MH7651> for your sins<MH2403b>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>I will also bring<MH935> upon you a sword<MH2719> which will execute<MH5358> vengeance<MH5359> for the covenant<MH1285>; and when you gather<MH622> together into your cities<MH5892b>, I will send<MH7971> a plague<MH1698> among<MH8432> you, so that you will be handed<MH3027, 5414> over<MH5414> to the enemy<MH340>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>When I break<MH7665> your staff<MH4294> of bread<MH3899>, ten<MH6235> women<MH802> will bake<MH644> your bread<MH3899> in one<MH259> oven<MH8574>, and they will bring<MH7725> back<MH7725> your bread<MH3899> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>in rationed<MH4948> amounts<MH4948>, so that you will eat<MH398> and not be<MH7646> satisfied<MH7646>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>‘Yet if<MH518> in spite of this<MH2088> you do not obey<MH8085> Me, but act<MH1980> with hostility<MH7147> against<MH5973> Me, <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>then I will act<MH1980> with wrathful<MH2534> hostility<MH7147> against<MH5973> you, and I for My part<MH637> will punish<MH3256> you seven<MH7651> times<MH7651> for your sins<MH2403b>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>Further, you will eat<MH398> the flesh<MH1320> of your sons<MH1121>, and you will eat<MH398> the flesh<MH1320> of your daughters<MH1323>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span>I then will destroy<MH8045> your high<MH1116> places<MH1116>, and cut<MH3772> down<MH3772> your incense<MH2553> altars<MH2553>, and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>pile<MH5414> your <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>remains<MH6297> on the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>remains<MH6297> of your idols<MH1544>, for My soul<MH5315> will loathe<MH1602> you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-31.htm"><b>31</b></a></span>I will turn<MH5414> your cities<MH5892b> into ruins<MH2723> as well and make<MH8074> your sanctuaries<MH4720> desolate<MH8074>, and I will not smell<MH7381a> your soothing<MH5207> aromas<MH7381b>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-32.htm"><b>32</b></a></span>And I will make<MH8074> the land<MH776> desolate<MH8074> so that your enemies<MH340> who settle<MH3427> in it will be<MH8074> appalled<MH8074> at it. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-33.htm"><b>33</b></a></span>You, however, I will scatter<MH2219> among the nations<MH1471>, and I will draw<MH7385a> out<MH7385a> a sword<MH2719> after<MH310> you, as your land<MH776> becomes<MH1961> desolate<MH8077> and your cities<MH5892b> become<MH1961> ruins<MH2723>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-34.htm"><b>34</b></a></span>‘Then<MH227> the land<MH776> will restore<MH7521> its Sabbaths<MH7676> all<MH3605> the days<MH3117> of the desolation<MH8074>, while you are in your enemies’<MH340> land<MH776>; then<MH227> the land<MH776> will rest<MH7673a> and restore<MH7521> its Sabbaths<MH7676>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-35.htm"><b>35</b></a></span>All<MH3605> the days<MH3117> of <i>its</i> desolation<MH8074> it will have<MH7673a> the rest<MH7673a> which<MH834> it did not have<MH7673a> on your Sabbaths<MH7676>, while you were living<MH3427> on it. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-36.htm"><b>36</b></a></span>As for those among you who are left<MH7604>, I will also bring<MH935> despair<MH4816> into their hearts<MH3824> in the lands<MH776> of their enemies<MH340>. And the sound<MH6963> of a scattered<MH5086> leaf<MH5929> will chase<MH7291> them, and even when no<MH369> one is pursuing<MH7291> they will flee<MH5127> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>as<MH4499> though<MH4499> from the sword<MH2719>, and they will fall<MH5307>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-37.htm"><b>37</b></a></span>They will then stumble<MH3782> over each<MH376> other<MH251> as if <i>running</i> from the sword<MH2719>, although no<MH369> one<MH369> is pursuing<MH7291>; and you will have<MH1961> no<MH3808> strength<MH8617> to<MH8617> stand<MH8617> before<MH6440> your enemies<MH340>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-38.htm"><b>38</b></a></span>Instead, you will perish<MH6> among the nations<MH1471>, and your enemies’<MH340> land<MH776> will consume<MH398> you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-39.htm"><b>39</b></a></span>So those of you who may be left<MH7604> will rot<MH4743> away<MH4743> because of their wrongdoing<MH5771> in the lands<MH776> of your enemies<MH340>; and also<MH637> because of the wrongdoing<MH5771> of their forefathers<MH1> they will rot<MH4743> away<MH4743> with them. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-40.htm"><b>40</b></a></span>‘But <i>if</i> they confess<MH3034> their wrongdoing<MH5771> and the wrongdoing<MH5771> of their forefathers<MH1>, in their unfaithfulness<MH4603> which<MH834> they committed<MH4603> against Me, and also<MH637> in their acting<MH1980> with hostility<MH7147> against<MH5973> Me— <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-41.htm"><b>41</b></a></span>I also<MH637> was acting<MH1980> with hostility<MH7147> against<MH5973> them, to bring<MH935> them into the land<MH776> of their enemies<MH340>—or<MH176> if<MH227> their uncircumcised<MH6189> heart<MH3824> is humbled<MH3665> so that they then<MH227> make<MH7521> amends<MH7521> for their wrongdoing<MH5771>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-42.htm"><b>42</b></a></span>then I will remember<MH2142> My covenant<MH1285> with Jacob<MH3290>, and I will remember<MH2142> also<MH637> My covenant<MH1285> with Isaac<MH3327>, and My covenant<MH1285> with Abraham<MH85> as well<MH637>, and I will remember<MH2142> the land<MH776>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-43.htm"><b>43</b></a></span>For the land<MH776> will be abandoned<MH5800a> by them, and will restore<MH7521> its Sabbaths<MH7676> while it is made<MH8074> desolate<MH8074> without<MH4480> them. They, meanwhile, will be making<MH7521> amends<MH7521> for their wrongdoing<MH5771>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>because<MH3282> they rejected<MH3988a> My ordinances<MH4941> and their soul<MH5315> loathed<MH1602> My statutes<MH2708>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-44.htm"><b>44</b></a></span>Yet in spite<MH637, 1571> of this<MH2088>, when they are in the land<MH776> of their enemies<MH340>, I will not reject<MH3988a> them, nor<MH3808> will I so loathe<MH1602> them as to destroy<MH3615> them, breaking<MH6565a> My covenant<MH1285> with them; for I am the LORD<MH3068> their God<MH430>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/26-45.htm"><b>45</b></a></span>But I will remember<MH2142> for them the covenant<MH1285> with their ancestors<MH7223>, whom<MH834> I brought<MH3318> out<MH3318> of the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714> in the sight<MH5869> of the nations<MH1471>, so that I might be their God<MH430>.
