It will be used to process an eighth batch of records (1989, 1990, and 1991) from the National Archives, Ireland, and these will added to the section <a href="/nai/index.html" target="_blank">NAI Records on CAIN</a>.<br clear="all" /> </p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>2024: Department for Communities</strong><br /> <a href="https://www.communities-ni.gov.uk/" target="_blank"><img src="/images/dfc-logo_750x500.jpg" border="0" width="200" hspace="12" vspace="10" alt="Department for Communities logo" align="right" /></a> CAIN received funding from the Department for Communities on 5 January 2024. This funding is to support work on the Associated Site <a href="/proni/" target="_blank">PRONI Records on CAIN</a>. This funding is to support work on the Associated Site <a href="/proni/" target="_blank">PRONI Records on CAIN</a>. The work will be carried out between November 2021 and the end of March 2022 and will involve a selection of official documents from PRONI, for the years 1997 and 1998, being added to the CAIN Archive.<br /> </p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p> <a href="http://www.ulster.ac.uk/" target="_blank"><img src="/associated/uu-logo-2024_172x94.jpg" width="172" height="94" border="0" hspace="10" align="right" /></a> <strong>2021: Ulster University</strong><br /> On 17 February 2021 CAIN received core funding from <a href="http://www.ulster.ac.uk" target="_blank">Ulster University</a>. <br clear="all" /></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>2020 - 2021: Initiatives of Change Committee in Ireland</strong><br /> <a href="https://www.iofc.org/" target="_blank"><img src="/images/IoC_logo_int_200.jpg" border="0" height="35" width="200" hspace="12" vspace="10" alt="Initiatives of Change logo" align="right" /></a> The Initiatives of Change (IofC) Committee in Ireland (formerly known as Moral Re-Armament; MRA) made a donation to CAIN on 1 September 2020. The funding is towards the cost of maintaining CAIN as a living/staffed endeavour. This donation has helped to keep the CAIN Archive live, and will provide staff with an opportunity to secure other sustainable fuding. The CAIN Archive includes <a href="/roddy_evans/" target="_blank">Dr J.R. Evans</a>' contributions on the work of MRA/IofC during the Troubles.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p> <a href="https://www.dfa.ie/" target="_blank"><img src="/nai/images/dfat_200-50.jpg" border="0" height="50" width="200" hspace="12" vspace="10" alt="DFAT logo" align="right" /></a><strong>2020: Reconciliation Fund, DFAT</strong><br /> A grant awarded in July 2020 from the <strong>Reconciliation Fund, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade</strong> (DFAT), will be used on a project to complete the CAIN Chronology of the Conflict. The work will begin in August 2020.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p> <a href="https://www.dfa.ie/" target="_blank"><img src="/nai/images/dfat_200-50.jpg" border="0" height="50" width="200" hspace="12" vspace="10" alt="DFAT logo" align="right" /></a><strong>2020: Reconciliation Fund, DFAT</strong><br /> A grant awarded in December 2019 from the <strong>Reconciliation Fund, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade</strong> (DFAT), will be used on a project to digitise the speeches, statements, etc. of John Hume and present these in a new section on CAIN. The work will be undertaken during 2020. (See brief details about the <a href="/john_hume/" target="_blank">project</a>.)</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p> <a href="https://www.dfa.ie/" target="_blank"><img src="/nai/images/dfat_200-50.jpg" border="0" height="50" width="200" hspace="12" vspace="10" alt="DFAT logo" align="right" /></a><strong>2019 - 2020: Reconciliation Fund, DFAT</strong><br /> Funding in September 2019 from the <strong>Reconciliation Fund, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade</strong> (DFAT), will be used to process a fifth batch of records (1986-88) from the National Archives, Ireland, and these will added to the section <a href="/nai/index.html" target="_blank">NAI Records on CAIN</a>.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p> <a href="http://www.ark.ac.uk/" target="_blank"><img src="/images/ARKsmfinal2017-2.jpg" border="0" height="83" width="200" hspace="12" vspace="10" alt="ARK logo" align="right" /></a> <strong>2019 - 2020: ARK </strong><br /> In early 2019 <strong>ARK</strong> (Northern Ireland's social policy hub) offered financial support on behalf of CAIN to Ulster University. The funding covers the cost of CAIN for the period 1 August 2019 to 31 July 2020. This is to allow time to try to secure core funding.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p> <a href="https://www.dfa.ie/" target="_blank"><img src="/nai/images/dfat_200-50.jpg" border="0" height="50" width="200" hspace="12" vspace="10" alt="DFAT logo" align="right" /></a><strong>2018: Reconciliation Fund, DFAT</strong><br /> A grant awarded on 6 December 2017 from the <strong>Reconciliation Fund, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade</strong> (DFAT), was used to fund a project entitled 'Documenting the Impact of the Troubles on the Republic of Ireland'. The work was undertaken during 2018/19.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p> <a href="http://www.ulster.ac.uk/" target="_blank"><img src="/associated/UU_Corp_logo_200-133_c.jpg" width="162" height="93" border="0" hspace="10" align="right" /></a> <strong>2016 - 2019: Ulster University</strong><br /> In March 2016 CAIN received funding from <a href="http://www.ulster.ac.uk" target="_blank">Ulster University</a>. <br clear="all" /></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p> <a href="https://www.dfa.ie/" target="_blank"><img src="/nai/images/dfat_200-50.jpg" border="0" height="50" width="200" hspace="12" vspace="10" alt="DFAT logo" align="right" /></a><strong>2016: Reconciliation Fund, DFAT</strong><br /> Funding on 7 December 2015 from the <strong>Reconciliation Fund, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade</strong> (DFAT), was used to process a fourth batch of 920 records (1981-85) from the National Archives, Ireland, and these were added to the section <a href="/nai/index.html" target="_blank">NAI Records on CAIN</a>.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p> <img src="/accounts/images/eu-colour-r.jpg" alt="eu logo" width="225" height="74" hspace="15" vspace="10" border="1" align="right" /> <strong>2013 - 2014: European Union's PEACE III programme</strong><br /> In 2013 the Accounts of the Conflict project received funding from the <strong>European Union's PEACE III programme</strong>, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body. The Accounts of the Conflict project was managed by INCORE, and CAIN staff worked directly on the project and received a proportion of the total award. The funded part of the project was completed in December 2014.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p> <a href="https://www.dfa.ie/" target="_blank"><img src="/nai/images/dfat_200-50.jpg" border="0" height="50" width="200" hspace="12" vspace="10" alt="DFAT logo" align="right" /></a><strong>2014: Reconciliation Fund, DFAT</strong><br /> Funding on 1 July 2014 from the <strong>Reconciliation Fund, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade</strong> (DFAT), allowed for a third batch of 926 records (1974-80) from the National Archives, Ireland, to be added to the section <a href="/nai/index.html" target="_blank">NAI Records on CAIN</a>.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p> <a href="https://www.dfa.ie/" target="_blank"><img src="/nai/images/dfat_200-50.jpg" border="0" height="50" width="200" hspace="12" vspace="10" alt="DFAT logo" align="right" /></a><strong>2013: Reconciliation &amp; Anti-Sectarianism Funds, DFAT</strong><br /> Funding on 1 December 2012 from the <strong>Reconciliation &amp; Anti-Sectarianism Funds, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade</strong> (DFAT), allowed for a selection of 750 records (1970-74) from the National Archives, Ireland, to be added to the section <a href="/nai/index.html" target="_blank">NAI Records on CAIN</a>.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p> <img src="/images/ofmdfm-logo_c.jpg" border="0" height="50" width="200" hspace="12" vspace="10" alt="OFMdFM logo" align="right" /> <strong>2012: Office of the First Minister and deputy First Minister, OFMdFM</strong><br /> Funding in 2012 from the <strong>Office of the First Minister and deputy First Minister</strong> (OFMdFM), allowed a range of work to be undertaken to enhance datasets and facilitate access to CAIN.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p> <img src="/victims/ahrc_logo.gif" align="right" vspace="10" hspace="10" alt="AHRC logo" border="1" /> <strong>2010: AHRC</strong><br /> Following the completion of the Victims, Survivors and Commemoration project (below) the <b>Arts and Humanities Research Council</b> (<a href="http://www.ahrc.ac.uk/" target="_blank">AHRC</a>) announced additional capital funding and called for proposals to the Digital Equipment and Database Enhancement for Impact (DEDEFI) Scheme. CAIN submitted a proposal in November 2009 to carry out a one-year project and was made an award in January 2010. The new project was entitled: <a href="/victims/gis/index.html" target="_blank">Visualising the Conflict: Immersion in the Landscape of Victims and Commemoration in Northern Ireland</a>. The project officially began on 1 March 2010 and it ended on 31 June 2011.</p> <p>&nbsp; </p> <p> <a href="http://www.esrc.ac.uk" target="_blank"><img src="/images/ESRC_75_Border.gif" align="right" vspace="5" hspace="20" alt="image of the ESRC logo" border="0" /></a> <strong>2006 - 2012: ESRC</strong><br /> ARK (Northern Ireland Social and Political Archive), secured core funding from the <b>ESRC (Economic and Social Research Council)</b> through its Large Grant Scheme (award number RES-060-23-0015). This funding began on 1 October 2006 and ended in March 2012. CAIN staff were covered by a proportion of this award.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p> <img src="/victims/ahrc_logo.gif" align="right" vspace="10" hspace="10" alt="AHRC logo" border="1" /> <strong>2006 - 2008: AHRC</strong><br /> In June 2006 the CAIN was notified that a bid to the <b>Arts and Humanities Research Council</b> (<a href="http://www.ahrc.ac.uk/" target="_blank">AHRC</a>) for research funding to support work on the CAIN site had been successful. The period of the funding was 1 October 2006 to 30 September 2008. The two-year project was on: <a href="/victims/index.html" target="_blank">'Remembering': Victims, Survivors and Commemoration in Post-Conflict Northern Ireland</a>.</p> <p>&nbsp; </p> <p> <img src="/images/tap-logo.jpg" border="0" hspace="10" vspace="0" align="right" /> <strong>2002 - 2005: The Atlantic Philanthropies</strong><br /> In 2002 ARK received core funding from <a href="http://www.atlanticphilanthropies.org/" target="_blank">The Atlantic Philanthropies</a>. As CAIN is a component part of ARK, the costs of running CAIN were covered by this award.</p> <p>&nbsp; </p> <p> <a href="http://www.ulster.ac.uk/" target="_blank"><img src="/associated/newUU.jpg" border="0" hspace="10" align="right" /></a> <strong>2002: University of Ulster</strong><br /> In 2002 the CAIN project received funding from the <a href="http://www.ulster.ac.uk" target="_blank">University of Ulster</a>.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p> <!a href="http://www.ulster.ac.uk/" target="_blank"><!img src="/associated/newUU.jpg" border="0" hspace="10" align="right" /></a> <strong>1999: Central Community Relations Unit</strong> (CCRU)<br /> In April 1999 CAIN received funding from the Central Community Relations Unit to continue work on the <a href="https://cain.ulster.ac.uk/ccru/" target="_blank">CCRU</a> Associated Site.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p> <a href="http://www.ulster.ac.uk/" target="_blank"><img src="/associated/newUU.jpg" border="0" hspace="10" align="right" /></a> <strong>1999: University of Ulster</strong><br /> In 1999 the CAIN project received funding from the <a href="http://www.ulster.ac.uk" target="_blank">University of Ulster</a> to cover a gap between two funding awards.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p> <strong>1998-1999: Department for Education Northern Ireland</strong> (DENI)<br /> During 1998 the CAIN project received funding from the <a href="http://www.deni.gov.uk/" target="_blank">Department of Education for Northern Ireland</a> (DENI) to continue the development of the CAIN archive.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p> <strong>1998-1999: Central Community Relations Unit</strong> (CCRU)<br /> During 1998 the CAIN project received funding from the <a href="/ccru/index.html" target="_blank">Central Community Relations Unit</a> (CCRU) to digitise materials related to community relations and to develop an Associated Site within CAIN.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p> <img src="/images/elib-229-152.gif" border="0" hspace="10" align="right" /> <strong>1996 - 1997: eLib</strong><br /> The CAIN project was initially funded, during 1996 and 1997, by:<br /> the <a href ="http://ukoln.bath.ac.uk/elib/" target="_blank">Electronic
