It provides great tools so we can effectively account our business transactions. I am able to access multiple companies by using one login, which is great option for multi-preneurs. It offers set of books so you can account all your personal transactions as well. It has double-enter general ledger that is important for accurate accounting. It is free to use only if you choose to use the payroll or payment services from them.</p> <p><strong>CONS:</strong> Wave doesn’t provide GAAp financials without adjusting some entries. Also, the reporting feature is limited you have the basic reports only. You cannot find lot of apps or services that work together with Wave. They have no way of storing receipts with transactions, and when you try to use their receipt scanner it literally doubles the transaction, making your books unbalanced until you manually find the same transaction and delete it. This has been documented and requested in their forums for YEARS, and a user even developed a Chrome plugin to work around it since they didn't move on it for YEARS. They automate tax payments from your bank account, but don't provide any breakdown as to which taxes the sum represents. Your bank statement will stay something like, "IRS payment" when in fact its a split transaction between Social Security, Medicare and Federal Income tax withholding. Its up to you to go back to each payroll for the quarter and figure out how they arrived at this total and to which tax branches you have paid and how much. It is extremely tedious and makes no sense that they are calculating this in the background without reporting it or including it in the books for the user to see. End of the year taxes with them are a nightmare of trying to back-calculate all the sums they report on W-2s, 940s and 941s. I have spent countless hours fixing their mistakes, paying for underpaid taxes, amending returns, seeking returns for doubled payments, pulling my hair out as I get no response from their help center and tax forms and payments are due in a couple of days even though they've had the data to automate the form a month ago. Its like doing double the work to double check all the things they send you last minute and on top of that you get to pay them money for it! On top of it all, last year in June they essentially told me they would no longer being able to help me file my tax forms as I had a foreign address (As I had for the past 2 years of being with them). So I had to rush to learn all my tax compliance regulations before my next quarterly return due in a few weeks. It was extremely unprofessional. I can understand if they choose to stop serving foreign addresses, but you can't just drop a customer you've been serving for years in the middle of the tax year without notice. On top of all this, their exporting tools are absolutely terrible, so I am stuck paying for their services until the end of the year else I'd lose access to the info I need to do my end of they year taxes. An unbelievably terrible experience. I was not notified that my credit card payments were being held under review for days sometimes weeks at a time. When I reached out to Wave to understand why, they claimed that my business was no longer able to use credit cards even though it is my main form of payment. My invoices look more presentable than before, plus I can send them right on time. Wave comes with a list of features that I have yet to explore.</p> <p><strong>CONS:</strong> My accountant has a way of doing things which I respect. Unfortunately, it doesn't match the default format that is showing on the software. I spent some time trying to figure out how to fix things, and it wasn't that difficult at all. When they increased their rates, I expected to have better service but did not. So I decided to search for a replacement and ended up with Wave. I like this software so much because of its 3rd party integration capabilities, which include banks and other accounting services. Also, I can monitor what's happening even if I am out of the office.</p> <p><strong>CONS:</strong> It lacks some smart features as compared to other leading accounting software. I believe that they are working non stop to address their shortcomings, and that is good enough for me. It takes good care of invoices and other accounting tasks for a minimal price. No need to install different software to manage our finance because Wave can handle it, making our workflow a lot more organized.</p> <p><strong>CONS:</strong> I wish that Wave would allow us to book a customer appointment or a tech visit using their very own application. Their CS can answer questions regarding accounting, but when there's a bug, you are left on your own.</p> <p><strong>CONS:</strong> I reconcile my account to the decimal, and then the balances are not balancing when I ask for the General Ledger at the same date. How can that be even possible??!! This is ridiculous. I opened a ticket with them, they give me the runaround, nobody is taking charge. There are lot of features that are free, and I love the invoicing feature and the new payment section as well. It has great way of pulling in transactions and ability to reconcile them. I am able to customize the invoicing and I love all new updates for the invoice feature. The reporting feature is great and helps me to keep my business and categories in order.</p> <p><strong>CONS:</strong> It would be great if they could include the Cash accounting. The app can be slow sometimes but maybe this is the issue with my internet provider. Wave is known for its efficiency and smooth looking interface. Data entry is easy and well organized. All my receipts, invoices, and other paperwork are kept in one centralized software. Payment requests are sent using the Platform, which saves a lot of time because all I need to do is to fill up templates and send them directly to the clients' email address. Wave is one of the best accounting platforms that I have come across, and I plan to stick to the product as long as I can afford to pay the monthly rates.</p> <p><strong>CONS:</strong> There are limited payment options since I can only do bank transfers as of now. I cannot transfer money through Paypal, which happens to be widely accepted by other platforms. Also, Wave charges their clients transaction fees for cashless payments. They have no way of storing receipts with transactions, and when you try to use their receipt scanner it literally doubles the transaction, making your books unbalanced until you manually find the same transaction and delete it. This has been documented and requested in their forums for YEARS, and a user even developed a Chrome plugin to work around it since they didn't move on it for YEARS. They automate tax payments from your bank account, but don't provide any breakdown as to which taxes the sum represents. Your bank statement will stay something like, "IRS payment" when in fact its a split transaction between Social Security, Medicare and Federal Income tax withholding. Its up to you to go back to each payroll for the quarter and figure out how they arrived at this total and to which tax branches you have paid and how much. It is extremely tedious and makes no sense that they are calculating this in the background without reporting it or including it in the books for the user to see. End of the year taxes with them are a nightmare of trying to back-calculate all the sums they report on W-2s, 940s and 941s. I have spent countless hours fixing their mistakes, paying for underpaid taxes, amending returns, seeking returns for doubled payments, pulling my hair out as I get no response from their help center and tax forms and payments are due in a couple of days even though they've had the data to automate the form a month ago. Its like doing double the work to double check all the things they send you last minute and on top of that you get to pay them money for it! On top of it all, last year in June they essentially told me they would no longer being able to help me file my tax forms as I had a foreign address (As I had for the past 2 years of being with them). So I had to rush to learn all my tax compliance regulations before my next quarterly return due in a few weeks. It was extremely unprofessional. I can understand if they choose to stop serving foreign addresses, but you can't just drop a customer you've been serving for years in the middle of the tax year without notice. On top of all this, their exporting tools are absolutely terrible, so I am stuck paying for their services until the end of the year else I'd lose access to the info I need to do my end of they year taxes. An unbelievably terrible experience. It provides great tools so we can effectively account our business transactions. I am able to access multiple companies by using one login, which is great option for multi-preneurs. It offers set of books so you can account all your personal transactions as well. It has double-enter general ledger that is important for accurate accounting. It is free to use only if you choose to use the payroll or payment services from them.</p> <p><strong>CONS:</strong> Wave doesn’t provide GAAp financials without adjusting some entries. Also, the reporting feature is limited you have the basic reports only. You cannot find lot of apps or services that work together with Wave. Live chat or email is the only way to correspond. They take forever to respond to emails. They also asked for a myriad of personal information including bank statements in order to "review my business" and ensure I had enough money in my bank account to cover customer refunds. Even though I sent all required information and had more than enough funds to cover any chargebacks or disputes, Wave refused to pay me the money I invoiced. My choices were to wait 120 days or refund all of my customers. I love the invoicing feature in Wave. I love the bank account integration because helps me to automatically import my transactions and to organize them into correct categories.</p> <p><strong>CONS:</strong> Wave is not suitable for complex accounting, it doesn’t provide scheduled deprecation list so you can track how much asset is depreciated and it doesn’t provide stockholder loan or even distribution account. I believe these options could be implemented. I would like to save vendors in certain categories in order to avoid transactions into wrong account. It’s no big deal but I have to fix this manually.
