<t><p class="indent1">Like an eagle<MH5404> <i>the enemy comes</i> against<MH5921> the house<MH1004> of the LORD<MH3068>, <t><p class="indent1">Because<MH3282> they have violated<MH5674a> My covenant<MH1285> <t><p class="indent1">And rebelled<MH6586> against<MH5921> My Law<MH8451>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/hosea/8-2.htm"><b>2</b></a></span>They cry<MH2199> out<MH2199> to Me, <p class="indent1stline">“My God<MH430>, we of Israel<MH3478> know<MH3045> You!” <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/hosea/8-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>Israel<MH3478> has rejected<MH2186a> the good<MH2896b>; <t><p class="indent1">The enemy<MH340> will pursue<MH7291> him. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/hosea/8-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>They have set<MH4427a> up<MH4427a> kings<MH4427a>, but not by Me; <t><p class="indent1">They have appointed<MH8323> officials<MH8323>, but I did not know<MH3045> <i>it.</i> <t><p class="indent1">With their silver<MH3701> and gold<MH2091> they have made<MH6213a> idols<MH6091> for themselves, <t><p class="indent1">So<MH4616> that<MH4616> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>they will be eliminated<MH3772>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/hosea/8-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span><span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>He has rejected<MH2186a> your calf<MH5695>, Samaria<MH8111>, <i>saying,</i> <t><p class="indent1">“My anger<MH639> burns<MH2734> against them!” <t><p class="indent1">How<MH4970> long<MH5704> will they be<MH3201> incapable<MH3808, 3201> of innocence<MH5356>? <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/hosea/8-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>For from Israel<MH3478> <i>comes</i> even this<MH1931>!
