the portal consists of several services that provide an overview of the content to the user and a personalized presentation of the material. More specifically: </p> <ol style="list-style-type: decimal;"> <li> Item list </li> <li> Item gallery </li> <li> Item view page </li> <li> View of spatial information on a map </li> <li> View of temporal information </li> <li> Thematic view </li> <li> Simple search </li> <li> Advanced search </li> <li> Personalized Presentation </li> </ol> <h5 style="padding-top: 15px;">Item list </h5> </br> <p> The main portal consists of the items of the repository in total while the portal of each center is limited to its collections. By clicking the service “Item list”, the whole list of center’s items is displayed. Each item is outlined by its title and a brief description. The screen is divided into two parts. On the left part, the items of the repository are displayed in pages, while on the right screen user can access the more interesting of them. In addition, the user can limit the item’s view according to the functional unit of each center. </p> <p> <img alt="" src="http://repository.academyofathens.gr/kea/images/guide/1.png" style="height:350px;" ><p> <h5>Item gallery</h5> </br> <p> The item gallery differs from the “Item list” in the point that the items appear along their images. Therefore, the option “Item gallery” displays a list of all items together with an associated image. The items are presented in pages accompanied by their title and their description. The user can browse the items per page and accordingly on the right part of the screen the most interesting items can be accessed for having a quick access to them. </p> <p><img alt="" src="http://repository.academyofathens.gr/kea/images/guide/2.png" style="height:350px;" ><p> <h5>Item view page</h5> </br> <p> The user can access the item by clicking the title which is displayed in the list of items. A new page appears and in that way navigation in the metadata of the specific item is being enabled seeing descriptive, thematic, temporal and spatial information. Additionally, each item is accompanied by relevant images. </p> <p><img alt="" src="http://repository.academyofathens.gr/kea/images/guide/8.png" style="height:350px;" ><p> <h5>View of spatial information on a map</h5> </br> <p> The items having spatial information are displayed on the map. In this way the user can navigate into documents based on the spatial area of interest. The number on the map clusters the different geographical points that are connected with objects. </p> <p><img alt="" src="http://repository.academyofathens.gr/kea/images/guide/3.png" style="height:350px;" ><p> <p> By using the zoom tools,the user can navigate in different areas of the map and get to the specific points where the connected items are displayed. </p> <p><img alt="" src="http://repository.academyofathens.gr/kea/images/guide/4.png" style="height:350px;" ><p> <h5>View of temporal information</h5> </br> <p> Apart from spatial information, items can also have temporal information. Each user who intends to use the timeline service has to select “Timeline” from the tab “Services” of the main menu. The “Timeline” service exhibits all periods recorded in MOPSEUS and by selecting a specific date each user can access items that are associated with it. The choice of the single arrow enables user to browse each date at time while choosing the double is transferred to 100 next dates. </p> <p><img alt="" src="http://repository.academyofathens.gr/kea/images/guide/5.png" style="height:250px;" ><p> <h5>Thematic view </h5> </br> <p> All thematic information registered in the repository can be displayed via the “Thema”. The user can navigate into the subjects and their hierarchy. Also, by selecting one of the subjects, all items associated with the specific subject are appeared. The thematic search is also possible from multiple points within the portal. </p> <img alt="" src="http://repository.academyofathens.gr/kea/images/guide/6.png" style="height:450px;" > <p><img alt="" src="http://repository.academyofathens.gr/kea/images/guide/7.png" style="height:100px;" ></p> <h5>Simple search</h5> </br> <p> Searching an item is possible from multiple points within the portal. This means that the user can search for an item being at homepage or being in one of other specific services. The fields for the simple search is a keyword that refers to either the title or the description of the item. </p> <p><img alt="" src="http://repository.academyofathens.gr/kea/images/guide/9.png" style="height:70px;" ><p> <h5>Advanced search</h5> </br> <p> Advanced search is also possible from multiple points within the portal. This means that the user can search for an item being at homepage or being in one of other specific services. Each user can select the option “Advance search” from the right part of the screen. </p> <p><img alt="" src="http://repository.academyofathens.gr/kea/images/guide/10.png" style="height:70px;" ><p> <p> By clicking on the specific option, a search form with various fields appears which varies per center. Performing advanced search, the total number of relevant documents is displayed. </p> <p><img alt="" src="http://repository.academyofathens.gr/kea/images/guide/11.png" style="height:350px;" ><p> <h5>Personalized Presentation </h5> </br> <p> The personalized services refer only to registered users. These are e-reading functionalities which are integrated with the interface of MOPSEUS offering a high unification of all services. The submission of user’s ID and password will lead to the following two options: </p> <p> A digital item can be added in a personal space (favorites) which will be set by the user. This means the user can create personal spaces (like “files” in every pc) which will act as destination for storing objects. In this way, a user studying different topics can organize his space accordingly to different folders in which he would be able to store relevant objects creating in that way personal collections. </p> <p><img alt="" src="http://repository.academyofathens.gr/kea/images/guide/12.png" style="height:350px;" ><p> <p> Every digital object can be commented. Each user can write comments for each selected digital object while these comments are personal and sharable giving the opportunity to every user to start a conversation. Moreover, the user can note a comment, and then disable it so that it is not visible to other users as well as to delete it. Besides comments, the user can add notes that are personal and do not appear in any other user apart from him.
