The Washington Post compiled the <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/history/interactive/2022/congress-slaveowners-names-list/?itid=sf_local_dont-miss-brights_p004_f001">first database of slaveholding members of Congress</a> by examining thousands of pages of census records and historical documents.
