The general aim of this program is to educate students from various undergraduate and postgraduate programs as advanced researchers who can utilize current knowledge on the Earth's internal processes and history in an interdisciplinary environment and generate new knowledge. Established in 1997, the ITU Eurasian Institute of Earth Sciences conducts high-quality research and postgraduate education in earth sciences. The institute consists of three main departments: Solid Earth Sciences, Climate and Marine Sciences, and Ecology and Evolution. When the ITU Eurasian Institute of Earth Sciences was first established, it began postgraduate education with two programs: Geodynamics and Climate and Marine Sciences. After the Spring Semester of the 2002-2003 academic year, these two programs were merged under the name Earth System Science program. In 2015, in addition to the Earth System Science program, the Geodynamics program was reopened. The Earth System Science program is primarily aimed at students who have completed their undergraduate and postgraduate education in this field; however, it is also open to students who have received education in natural sciences and engineering fields at other institutions. In addition, these students receive complementary education in the fundamental knowledge and skills areas of the Earth System Science Master's Program.</p> <br /> <hr /> <br /> <h3>Objectives</h3> <p>The necessary scientific support for sustainable life on our planet cannot be achieved without education in earth sciences. Education in earth sciences requires a new perspective and the necessary culture for this perspective, as well as research infrastructure. In this changing new order of our world, interdisciplinary boundaries should be eliminated or at least improved, and the evolving technologies in research, education, and communication should be maximally utilized.  <br /> <br /> The objective of the Geodynamics program is to train competent postgraduate students who can look at the Earth as a whole, learn about the dynamics of its operation, and understand the characteristics of all layers of the Earth, as well as the mechanisms of their formation and operation through high-level and multidisciplinary research. The educational objectives of the Earth System Science program are to conduct top-level and multidisciplinary research aimed at understanding the characteristics of all layers of the Earth and the mechanisms of their formation and operation, to train young researchers who can look at the Earth as a whole, have received the highest level of education in their field of expertise, but also understand the language of other disciplines, and comfortably use quantitative methods and appropriate technologies in their research within the framework of contemporary research standards.</p> <br /> <hr /> <br /> <h3>Employment Opportunities for the Program </h3> <p>Graduates of this program can work as specialists in public and private sector organizations, focusing on the development of natural resources, understanding Earth processes, and working in fields aimed at minimizing the risks arising from these processes.
