<a href ="../luke/18.htm#18">Luke 18:18&#8211;30</a>)</span><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/10-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>And as he went out into the way, <i>there came</i> one running and kneeling to Him, <i>and</i> asked Him, Good master, what shall I do, that I may inherit eternal life? <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/10-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>And Jesus said unto him, <FR>Why dost thou call me good? <Fr><i>there is</i><FR> none good, but one, <Fr><i>that is</i><FR> God.<Fr> <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/10-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span><FR>Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honour thy father and <Fr><i>thy</i><FR> mother.<Fr> <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/10-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>And he answered and said unto Him, Master, all these have I kept from my youth. <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/10-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>Then Jesus looked upon him with affection, and said to him, <FR>One <Fr><i>thing</i><FR> thou wantest; go, sell all that thou hast, and give <Fr><i>it</i><FR> to the poor; and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross and follow me.<Fr> <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/10-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>But he was sad at <i>that</i> saying, and went away sorrowful; for he had great possessions.<p> <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/10-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>And Jesus looking <i>round</i> about saith to his disciples, <FR>How difficultly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!<Fr> <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/10-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus repeating <i>it,</i> saith unto them, <FR>Children, how hard is it for them, that trust in riches, to enter into the kingdom of God!<Fr> <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/10-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span><FR>It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.<Fr> <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/10-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>And they were exceedingly amazed, saying one to another, Who then can be saved? <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/10-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>But Jesus looking upon them saith, <FR>With men <Fr><i>it is</i><FR> impossible, but not with God; for with God all <Fr><i>things</i><FR> are possible.<Fr><p> <A name="29"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/10-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>Then Peter said to Him, Behold we have left all, and followed thee. <A name="30"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/10-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>And Jesus answered and said, <FR>Verily I tell you, there is no one that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children,<Fr> <A name="31"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/10-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span><FR>or lands for my sake and the gospel's, but he shall receive an hundred-fold: now in this time <Fr><i>indeed,</i><FR> houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands with persecutions; but in the world to come life everlasting.<Fr> <A name="32"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/10-31.htm"><b>31</b></a></span><FR>But many <Fr><i>that are</i><FR> first shall be last, and the last first.<Fr><p> <A name="33"></a><p class="hdg">The Third Prediction of the Passion<br /><span class="cross">(<a href ="../matthew/20.htm#17">Matthew 20:17&#8211;19</a>; <a href ="../luke/18.htm#31">Luke 18:31&#8211;34</a>)</span><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/10-32.htm"><b>32</b></a></span>And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed <i>at it,</i> and afraid to follow <i>Him.</i> And again taking the twelve <i>aside,</i> He began to tell them what <i>things</i> should befal Him, <A name="34"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/10-33.htm"><b>33</b></a></span><i>saying,</i> <FR>Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be delivered to the chief priests, and the scribes, and they will condemn Him to death, and deliver Him to the Gentiles;<Fr> <A name="35"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/10-34.htm"><b>34</b></a></span><FR>and they will insult Him, and scourge Him, and spit upon Him, and put Him to death: but <Fr><i>on</i><FR> the third day He shall rise again.<Fr><p> <A name="36"></a><p class="hdg">The Request of James and John<br /><span class="cross">(<a href ="../matthew/20.htm#20">Matthew 20:20&#8211;28</a>)</span><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/10-35.htm"><b>35</b></a></span>Then come to Him James and John, the sons of Zebedee, saying, Master, we desire that thou wouldest do for us what we shall request: <A name="37"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/10-36.htm"><b>36</b></a></span>and He said to them, <FR>What do ye desire me to do for you?<Fr> <A name="38"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/10-37.htm"><b>37</b></a></span>they said unto Him, Grant that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left, in thy glory. <A name="39"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/10-38.htm"><b>38</b></a></span>But Jesus said unto them, <FR>Ye know not what ye ask. Can ye drink <Fr><i>of</i><FR> the cup, that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?<Fr> <A name="40"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/mark/10-39.htm"><b>39</b></a></span>And they said, We can.
