style="font-size:75%;">TransLink</span><a name="Desmond" title="Desmond"></a> <p>Kevin is an experienced executive with a career built in the public transportation industry.</p> <p>Prior to joining TransLink, Kevin was General Manager of King County Metro Transit serving the Seattle metropolitan region. At Metro, he oversaw a mix of transit modes, including buses, trains, vanpools, paratransit vans, as well as approximately 5,000 employees. In his 12 years tenure, he helped to grow ridership by 44 per cent and launch the ORCA Card, as well as light rail, streetcar service, and several bus rapid transit lines. Kevin was also part of three successful votes on transit funding. </p> <p>Prior to Metro Transit, Kevin was Vice-President of Operations and Development at Pierce Transit in Tacoma, Washington. Before relocating to the West Coast, Kevin acted as Chief of Operations Planning for New York City Transit which included bus and subway operations. Earlier in his career he served as Deputy Director in Mayor Koch’s Transportation Office and Assistant Commissioner for the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission.</p> <p>Kevin has a master’s degree in public administration from New York University. In this role, Rob was a member of a number of Canadian and international committees including the International Airport Council — World Economics and Finance Committee. Prior to that, Rob spent almost two decades at Vancity, starting as a financial services representative (aka bank teller) and working his way up, taking on leadership roles, and finishing his career at the cooperative as CFO for five years. </p> <p>Rob’s choice to work for organizations that are ambitious and purposeful engages his passion in creating a healthy culture that drives performance.</p> <p>In addition to Rob’s commitment to inspiring organizational change, he is passionate about his community and society as a whole. His volunteer career began while in university at the Immigrant Services Society of BC and continues through his work with United Way. He has held several senior executive and management positions with Canadian Airlines, Air Canada, Harmony Airways, and DTKH, including Vice-President Operations, Vice-President Customer Service and Operations, and Vice-President, Flight Operations. He was the Canadian Airlines senior executive in charge of the operational transition of Canadian Airlines into Air Canada.</p> <p>Haydn has an extensive labour relations background, including grievances, arbitrations, and contract bargaining. He is results-oriented and is always looking for opportunities to improve processes and deliver excellent customer service.</p> <p>Haydn is also an active community member. He recently completed an eight-year term on the board for the Law Society of British Columbia and is a tribunal panel member on the Employment and Assistance Appeal Tribunal. He joined Coast Mountain Bus Company in 2018 as President and General Manager following three years on the CMBC Board of Directors of which he served two years as Chair. In this position, Michael gained insight into the role of the bus company both in the region and within the TransLink enterprise.</p> <p>Prior to CMBC, he was President and CEO of the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) and responsible for its overall operation, as well as community and government relations. During his time at the PNE, Michael led the organization through its transition from provincial ownership to the City of Vancouver. He was also instrumental in developing a long-term future for the PNE and Hastings Park, including a City Council approved 30-year Master Plan and an approved governance structure.</p> <p>Before rising to President and CEO, Michael held the role of Vice President of Human Resources, managing employee and labour relations, performance management, recruitment and retention, payroll, benefits, and occupational health and safety.</p> <p>Prior to joining the PNE, Michael worked in the hospitality, tourism and entertainment industry for companies both locally and in the United States, and also spent time as a contract consultant, providing expertise in corporate and management development.</p> <p>Michael is actively involved in the community, serving on the Board of Directors for both the Vancouver Fireworks Festival Society (Celebration of Light Fireworks) and the Tri City Youth Basketball Association. In 2005, he was recognized as one of Vancouver's "Top 40 under 40" by Business in Vancouver. Interim Chief Kross held a wide variety of positions with the VPD including leadership roles in Patrol Operations, Emergency Response Team, Human Resource Section, and as the 2010 Olympics Police Liaison/Gold Command. During his 25 years of service at VPD, he received numerous Chief Constable Awards as well as a Lieutenant Governor of BC Award for Valour in 1990.</p> <p>Interim Chief Kross was instrumental in developing and rolling out the Metro Vancouver Transit Police Community Policing Model, optimizing the organization and deployment of resources that have served to forge strong partnerships with jurisdictional police and community partners across the region. He was also instrumental in the creation of the Chiefs Community Council, which seeks to enhance safety and security for the transit community by providing a forum to promote dialogue and collaboration with community stakeholders.</p> <p>Interim Chief Kross is an avid supporter of Special Olympics BC (SOBC),and is on the Law Enforcement Torch Run/SOBC Executive Council. On January 15, 2018 , Chief Kross was awarded the Police Exemplary Service Medal (30 years) and on June 5, 2018 was invested as a Member of the Order of Merit of the Police Forces (M.O.M.) by the
