The selective application of the rule of law in the Tymoshenko-case leaves little doubt about its politically motivated nature. The targeting of non-military civilian targets further underline the despicable nature of this heinous crime, aimed solely at terrorizing ordinary Iraqis. Now is the time for the Iraqi political elites to unite. The EU must have the ability to pool its supply capacities and to engage in coordinated energy purchasing, should the need arise. In the long term, if we are faced with a major energy crisis, common strategic reserves must be available, and managed throughout the continent in a spirit of solidarity. For me, the most important was Parliament's place in EU decision making. We are now the Parliament we always wanted to be - a full co-legislator in a two chamber structure.
