class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In high-performance automotive engineering, the realistic simulation of suspension systems is crucial for enhancing vehicle dynamics and handling. This study focuses on the double wishbone suspension system, prevalent in racing vehicles due to its superior control and stability characteristics. Utilizing MATLAB and Adams Car simulation software, we conduct a comprehensive analysis of displacement behaviors and damper sizing under various dynamic conditions. The initial phase involves using MATLAB to simulate the entire suspension system, allowing for the preliminary determination of damper size based on the system's response under simulated conditions. Following this, manual calculations of wheel loads are performed to assess the forces acting on the front and rear suspensions during scenarios such as braking, cornering, maximum vertical loads, and acceleration. Further dynamic force analysis is carried out using MATLAB Simulink, focusing on the interactions between suspension components during key movements such as bumps and rebounds. This simulation helps in formulating precise force equations and in calculating the stiffness of the suspension springs. To enhance the accuracy of our findings, we focus on a detailed kinematic and dynamic analysis. This includes the creation of kinematic loops, derivation of relevant equations, and computation of Jacobian matrices to accurately determine damper travel and compression metrics. The calculated spring stiffness is crucial in selecting appropriate springs to ensure optimal suspension performance. To validate and refine our results, we replicate the analyses using the Adams Car software, renowned for its detailed handling of vehicular dynamics. The goal is to achieve a robust, reliable suspension setup that maximizes performance under the extreme conditions encountered in racing scenarios. This study exemplifies the integration of theoretical mechanics with advanced simulation tools to achieve a high-performance suspension setup that can significantly improve race car performance, providing a methodology that can be adapted for different types of racing vehicles. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=FSAE" title="FSAE">FSAE</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=suspension%20system" title=" suspension system"> suspension system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Adams%20Car" title=" Adams Car"> Adams Car</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=kinematic" title=" kinematic"> kinematic</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/185252/double-wishbone-pushrod-suspension-systems-co-simulation-for-racing-applications" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/185252.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">51</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">21</span> HRV Analysis Based Arrhythmic Beat Detection Using kNN Classifier</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Onder%20Yakut">Onder Yakut</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Oguzhan%20Timus"> Oguzhan Timus</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Emine%20Dogru%20Bolat"> Emine Dogru Bolat</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Health diseases have a vital significance affecting human being's life and life quality. Sudden death events can be prevented owing to early diagnosis and treatment methods. Electrical signals, taken from the human being's body using non-invasive methods and showing the heart activity is called Electrocardiogram (ECG). The ECG signal is used for following daily activity of the heart by clinicians. Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is a physiological parameter giving the variation between the heart beats. ECG data taken from MITBIH Arrhythmia Database is used in the model employed in this study. The detection of arrhythmic heart beats is aimed utilizing the features extracted from the HRV time domain parameters. The developed model provides a satisfactory performance with ~89% accuracy, 91.7 % sensitivity and 85% specificity rates for the detection of arrhythmic beats. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=arrhythmic%20beat%20detection" title="arrhythmic beat detection">arrhythmic beat detection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ECG" title=" ECG"> ECG</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=HRV" title=" HRV"> HRV</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=kNN%20classifier" title=" kNN classifier"> kNN classifier</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/41219/hrv-analysis-based-arrhythmic-beat-detection-using-knn-classifier" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/41219.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">352</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">20</span> Extended Constraint Mask Based One-Bit Transform for Low-Complexity Fast Motion Estimation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=O%C4%9Fuzhan%20Urhan">Oğuzhan Urhan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, an improved motion estimation (ME) approach based on weighted constrained one-bit transform is proposed for block-based ME employed in video encoders. Binary ME approaches utilize low bit-depth representation of the original image frames with a Boolean exclusive-OR based hardware efficient matching criterion to decrease computational burden of the ME stage. Weighted constrained one-bit transform (WC‑1BT) based approach improves the performance of conventional C-1BT based ME employing 2-bit depth constraint mask instead of a 1-bit depth mask. In this work, the range of constraint mask is further extended to increase ME performance of WC-1BT approach. Experiments reveal that the proposed method provides better ME accuracy compared existing similar ME methods in the literature. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fast%20motion%20estimation%3B%20low-complexity%20motion%20estimation" title="fast motion estimation; low-complexity motion estimation">fast motion estimation; low-complexity motion estimation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=video%20coding" title=" video coding"> video coding</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/76760/extended-constraint-mask-based-one-bit-transform-for-low-complexity-fast-motion-estimation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/76760.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">316</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">19</span> Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) Polymorphism and Disease Resistance</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Oya%20Bulut">Oya Bulut</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Oguzhan%20Avci"> Oguzhan Avci</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zafer%20Bulut"> Zafer Bulut</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Atilla%20Simsek"> Atilla Simsek</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Livestock breeders have focused on the improvement of production traits with little or no attention for improvement of disease resistance traits. In order to determine the association between the genetic structure of the individual gene loci with possibility of the occurrence and the development of diseases, MHC (major histocompatibility complex) are frequently used. Because of their importance in the immune system, MHC locus is considered as candidate genes for resistance/susceptibility against to different diseases. Major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules play a critical role in both innate and adaptive immunity and have been considered candidate molecular markers of an association between polymorphisms and resistance/susceptibility to diseases. Lane detection is a vital step for ADAS. The performance of the lane detection process is critical to obtain a high accuracy lane departure warning system (LDWS). Challenging factors such as road cracks, erosion of lane markings, weather conditions might affect the performance of a lane detection system. In this paper, 1-D weighted filter based on row filtering to detect lane marking is proposed. 2-D input image is filtered by 1-D weighted filter considering four-pixel values located symmetrically around the center of candidate pixel. Performance evaluation is carried out by two metrics which are true positive rate (TPR) and false positive rate (FPR). Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach provides better lane marking detection accuracy compared to the previous methods while providing real-time processing performance. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lane%20marking%20filter" title="lane marking filter">lane marking filter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lane%20detection" title=" lane detection"> lane detection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ADAS" title=" ADAS"> ADAS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=LDWS" title=" LDWS"> LDWS</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/90804/real-time-lane-marking-detection-using-weighted-filter" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/90804.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">193</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">16</span> Determination of Some Etiologic Agents in Calves with Diarrhea</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nermin%20Isik">Nermin Isik</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ozlem%20Derinbay%20Ekici"> Ozlem Derinbay Ekici</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Oguzhan%20Avci"> Oguzhan Avci</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The aim of this study was to determination of role infection in neonatal calves in Central Anatolian, Turkey. A total 300 fecal samples were collected from diarrheic neonatal calves, aged between 0–90 days from Konya, Karaman, and Aksaray from January to April 2014. Fecal specimens from calves with clinically diarrheic symptoms were examined for the presence of Bovine Coronavirus, Bovine Rotavirus, Cryptosporidium sp., and E. coli by commercially available capture direct enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit and Modified Ziehl Neelsen method (MZN). Calves were grouped according to their age as follows: 1-14, 15-29, and 30-90 days. Cryptosporidium sp. infection was detected in 52.8%, 58.8%, and 39.2% by ELISA and 33.9%, 47%, 26.7% by MZN in the respective age groups. The seroprevalance of Rotavirus (12.5 %, 40 %, 12.5 %), Coronavirus (2.5%, 0%, 3.5%) and E. coli (5%, 4.7%, 8.9%) infections were determined according to the age groups respectively. Cryptosporidium sp. was the most detected enteropathogen (52 %) of calves and coronavirus was the least detected (2 %). The detection rate of the mixed enfection was 12.3%. Controlled release profile of PEO/CHI/ICG nanofiber was also evaluated up to 40 hours. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=chitosan" title="chitosan">chitosan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=coaxial%20electrospinning" title=" coaxial electrospinning"> coaxial electrospinning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=controlled%20releasing" title=" controlled releasing"> controlled releasing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=drug%20delivery" title=" drug delivery"> drug delivery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=indocyanine%20green" title=" indocyanine green"> indocyanine green</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=polyethylene%20oxide" title=" polyethylene oxide"> polyethylene oxide</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/96401/fabrication-of-polyethylene-oxidechitosanindocyanine-green-nanoprobe-by-co-axial-electrospinning-method-for-early-detection" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/96401.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">169</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">14</span> Effects of Li2O Doping on Mechanical and Electrical Properties of Bovine Hydroxyapatite Composites (BHA)</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sibel%20Daglilar">Sibel Daglilar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Isil%20Kerti"> Isil Kerti</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Murat%20Karagoz"> Murat Karagoz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fatih%20Dumludag"> Fatih Dumludag</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Oguzhan%20Gunduz"> Oguzhan Gunduz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Faik%20Nuzhet%20Oktar"> Faik Nuzhet Oktar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Hydroxyapatite (HA) materials have common use in bone repairing due to its ability to accelerate the bone growth around the implant. In spite of being a biocompatible and bioactive material, HA has a limited usage as an implant material because of its weak mechanical properties. HA based composites are required to improve the strength and toughness properties of the implant materials without compromising of biocompatibility. The excellent mechanical properties and higher biocompatibilities are expected from each of biomedical composites. In this study, HA composites were synthesized by using bovine bone reinforced doped with different amount of (wt.%) Li2O. The pressed pellets were sintered at various sintering temperatures between 1000ºC and 1300°C, and mechanical, electrical properties of the obtained products were characterized. PCL is biocompatible and durable material which can be used in bio-implants. Therefore, electrospinning process was chosen as a fabrication method to get PCL fibers in an effective way because of its significant adjustments. In this research study, electrospinning parameters was evaluated during the producing of polymer tissue scaffolds. Polycaprolactone’s molecular weight was 80.000 Da and was employed as a tissue material in the electrospinning process. PCL was decomposed in dimethylformamid(DMF) and chloroform(CF) with the weight ratio of 1:1. Different compositions (1%, 3%, 5%, 10% and 20 %) of PCL was prepared in the laboratory conditions. All solvents with different percentages of PCL have been taken into the syringe and loaded into the electrospinning system. In electrospinning dozens of trial were applied to get homogeneously uniform scaffold samples. Taylor cone which is crucial point for electrospinning characteristic was occurred and changed in different voltages up to the material compositions’ conductivity. While the PCL percentages were increasing in the electrospinning, structure started to arise with droplets, which was an expressive problem for tissue scaffold. The vertical and horizontal layouts were applied to produce non-woven structures at all. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tissue%20engineering" title="tissue engineering">tissue engineering</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=artificial%20scaffold" title=" artificial scaffold"> artificial scaffold</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electrospinning" title=" electrospinning"> electrospinning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biocomposites" title=" biocomposites"> biocomposites</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/68217/determining-the-electrospinning-parameters-of-polye-caprolactone" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/68217.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">348</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">11</span> Deep Learning Based Road Crack Detection on an Embedded Platform</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nurhak%20Alt%C4%B1n">Nurhak Altın</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ayhan%20Kucukmanisa"> Ayhan Kucukmanisa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Oguzhan%20Urhan"> Oguzhan Urhan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> It is important that highways are in good condition for traffic safety. Road crashes (road cracks, erosion of lane markings, etc.) can cause accidents by affecting driving. Image processing based methods for detecting road cracks are available in the literature. In this paper, a deep learning based road crack detection approach is proposed. YOLO (You Look Only Once) is adopted as core component of the road crack detection approach presented. The YOLO network structure, which is developed for object detection, is trained with road crack images as a new class that is not previously used in YOLO. The performance of the proposed method is compared using different training methods: using randomly generated weights and training their own pre-trained weights (transfer learning). A similar training approach is applied to the simplified version of the YOLO network model (tiny yolo) and the results of the performance are examined. The developed system is able to process 8 fps on NVIDIA Jetson TX1 development kit. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=deep%20learning" title="deep learning">deep learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=embedded%20platform" title=" embedded platform"> embedded platform</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=real-time%20processing" title=" real-time processing"> real-time processing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=road%20crack%20detection" title=" road crack detection"> road crack detection</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/87638/deep-learning-based-road-crack-detection-on-an-embedded-platform" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/87638.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">338</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10</span> Effect in Animal Nutrition of Genetical Modified Plant(GM)</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdullah%20%C3%96zbilgin">Abdullah Özbilgin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Oguzhan%20Kahraman"> Oguzhan Kahraman</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mustafa%20Sel%C3%A7uk%20Alata%C5%9F"> Mustafa Selçuk Alataş</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Plant breeders have made and will continue to make important contributions toward meeting the need for more and better feed and food. The use of new techniques to modify the genetic makeup of plants to improve their properties has led to a new generation of crops, grains and their by-products for feed. The land area devoted to the cultivation of genetically modified (GM) plants has increased in recent years: in 2012 such plants were grown on over 170 million hectares globally, in 28 different countries, and are at resent used by 17.3 million farmers worldwide. The majority of GM plants are used as feed material for food-producing farm animals. So, high resolution videos have made efficient video compression techniques an essential component for capturing and transmitting video data. Motion estimation has a critical role in encoding raw video. Hence, various motion estimation methods are introduced to efficiently compress the video. Low bit‑depth representation based motion estimation methods facilitate computation of matching criteria and thus, provide small hardware footprint. In this paper, a hardware implementation of a two-bit transformation based low-complexity motion estimation method using local binary pattern approach is proposed. Image frames are represented in two-bit depth instead of full-depth by making use of the local binary pattern as a binarization approach and the binarization part of the hardware architecture is explained in detail. Experimental results demonstrate the difference between the proposed hardware architecture and the architectures of well-known low-complexity motion estimation methods in terms of important aspects such as resource utilization, energy and power consumption. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=binarization" title="binarization">binarization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hardware%20architecture" title=" hardware architecture"> hardware architecture</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=local%20binary%20pattern" title=" local binary pattern"> local binary pattern</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=motion%20estimation" title=" motion estimation"> motion estimation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=two-bit%20transform" title=" two-bit transform"> two-bit transform</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/77730/hardware-implementation-of-local-binary-pattern-based-two-bit-transform-motion-estimation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/77730.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">311</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5</span> Process Optimization of Electrospun Fish Sarcoplasmic Protein Based Nanofibers</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sena%20Su">Sena Su</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Burak%20Ozbek"> Burak Ozbek</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yesim%20M.%20Sahin"> Yesim M. Among these polymers, proteins from different sources have been extensively employed because of their relative abundance, film forming ability, and nutritional qualities. In this study, the biodegradable composite nanofiber films based on fish sarcoplasmic protein (FSP) were prepared via electrospinning technique. Biodegradable polycaprolactone (PCL) was blended with the FSP to obtain hybrid FSP/PCL nanofiber mats with desirable physical properties. Mixture solutions of FSP and PCL were produced at different concentrations and their density, viscosity, electrical conductivity and surface tension were measured. Mechanical properties of electrospun nanofibers were evaluated. Morphology of composite nanofibers was observed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Moreover, Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR) studies were used for analysis chemical composition of composite nanofibers. This study revealed that the FSP based nanofibers have the potential to be used for different applications such as biodegradable packaging, drug delivery, and wound dressing, etc. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=edible%20film" title="edible film">edible film</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electrospinning" title=" electrospinning"> electrospinning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fish%20sarcoplasmic%20protein" title=" fish sarcoplasmic protein"> fish sarcoplasmic protein</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nanofiber" title=" nanofiber"> nanofiber</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/68672/process-optimization-of-electrospun-fish-sarcoplasmic-protein-based-nanofibers" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/68672.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">297</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4</span> Combination of Diuretics and Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors Leading Severe Hyponatremia: A Case Report</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Esra%20Bora">Esra Bora</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alper%20Omeroglu"> Alper Omeroglu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zeynep%20Pelin%20Polat"> Zeynep Pelin Polat</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Oguzhan%20Kara"> Oguzhan Kara</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fatih%20Akdogan"> Fatih Akdogan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sema%20Ucak%20Basat"> Sema Ucak Basat</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Hyponatremia is one of the most encountered electrolyte imbalance among all medical fields. It has a wide range of symptoms as well as complications from fatigue to loss of consciousness. Although a lot of factors can cause low sodium levels in serum, combining specific medications can lead to severe hyponatremia in a rapid onset which can cause high mortality and morbidity. The objective of this case report was to underline that prescribing specific medications disregarding their side effects can cause this common electrolyte imbalance but in a more severe manner. In this case report, we present a 46-year-old male patient with a serum sodium level of 104 mEq/L who consumed hydrochlorothiazide for hypertension and was under treatment with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) for major depression. The patient had tonic-clonic seizures at the second hour of the treatment and intubation was needed due to loss of consciousness and hypoxia. After proper replacement of sodium with hypertonic solutions in intensive care unit for nine days, extubation indicated. Even in healthy young males, hyponatremia due to two separately prescribed medications can lead life-threatening hyponatremia. Physicians should be aware of the side effects of diuretics, especially hydrochlorothiazides and SSRIs and their combinations. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=diuretics" title="diuretics">diuretics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hydrochlorothiazide" title=" hydrochlorothiazide"> hydrochlorothiazide</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hyponatremia" title=" hyponatremia"> hyponatremia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SSRI" title=" SSRI"> SSRI</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/104997/combination-of-diuretics-and-selective-serotonin-reuptake-inhibitors-leading-severe-hyponatremia-a-case-report" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/104997.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">152</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3</span> Automatic Staging and Subtype Determination for Non-Small Cell Lung Carcinoma Using PET Image Texture Analysis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seyhan%20Kara%C3%A7avu%C5%9F">Seyhan Karaçavuş</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=B%C3%BClent%20Y%C4%B1lmaz"> Bülent Yılmaz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=%C3%96mer%20Kayaalt%C4%B1"> Ömer Kayaaltı</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Semra%20%C4%B0%C3%A7er"> Semra İçer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arzu%20Ta%C5%9Fdemir"> Arzu Taşdemir</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=O%C4%9Fuzhan%20Ayy%C4%B1ld%C4%B1z"> Oğuzhan Ayyıldız</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=K%C3%BCbra%20Eset"> Kübra Eset</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Eser%20Kaya"> Eser Kaya</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this study, our goal was to perform tumor staging and subtype determination automatically using different texture analysis approaches for a very common cancer type, i.e., non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC). Especially, we introduced a texture analysis approach, called Law&rsquo;s texture filter, to be used in this context for the first time. The 18F-FDG PET images of 42 patients with NSCLC were evaluated. The number of patients for each tumor stage, i.e., I-II, III or IV, was 14. The patients had ~45% adenocarcinoma (ADC) and ~55% squamous cell carcinoma (SqCCs). MATLAB technical computing language was employed in the extraction of 51 features by using first order statistics (FOS), gray-level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM), gray-level run-length matrix (GLRLM), and Laws&rsquo; texture filters. The feature selection method employed was the sequential forward selection (SFS). Selected textural features were used in the automatic classification by <em>k</em>-nearest neighbors (<em>k</em>-NN) and support vector machines (SVM). In the automatic classification of tumor stage, the accuracy was approximately 59.5% with <em>k</em>-NN classifier (k=3) and 69% with SVM (with one versus one paradigm), using 5 features. In the automatic classification of tumor subtype, the accuracy was around 92.7% with SVM one vs. one. Texture analysis of FDG-PET images might be used, in addition to metabolic parameters as an objective tool to assess tumor histopathological characteristics and in automatic classification of tumor stage and subtype. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cancer%20stage" title="cancer stage">cancer stage</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cancer%20cell%20type" title=" cancer cell type"> cancer cell type</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=non-small%20cell%20lung%20carcinoma" title=" non-small cell lung carcinoma"> non-small cell lung carcinoma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PET" title=" PET"> PET</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=texture%20analysis" title=" texture analysis"> texture analysis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/43698/automatic-staging-and-subtype-determination-for-non-small-cell-lung-carcinoma-using-pet-image-texture-analysis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/43698.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">326</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2</span> Influence of Strengthening with Perforated Steel Plates on the Behavior of Infill Walls and RC Frame</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Eray%20Ozbek">Eray Ozbek</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ilker%20Kalkan"> Ilker Kalkan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=S.%20Oguzhan%20Akbas"> S. Strengthening of the infill walls through different techniques has been and is being studied extensively in the literature to increase this limited contribution and the ductilities and energy absorption capacities of the infill walls to create non-structural components where the earthquake-induced energy can be absorbed without damaging the bearing components of the structural frame. The present paper summarizes an extensive research project dedicated to investigate the effects of strengthening the brick infill walls of a reinforced concrete (RC) frame on its lateral earthquake response. Perforated steel plates were used in strengthening due to several reasons, including the ductility and high deformation capacity of these plates, the fire resistant, recyclable and non-cancerogenic nature of mild steel, and the ease of installation and removal of the plates to the wall with the help of anchor bolts only. Furthermore, epoxy, which increases the cost and amount of labor of the strengthening process, is not needed in this technique. The individual behavior of the strengthened walls under monotonic diagonal and lateral reversed cyclic loading was investigated within the scope of the study. Upon achieving brilliant results, RC frames with strengthened infill walls were tested and are being tested to examine the influence of this strengthening technique on the overall behavior of the RC frames. Tests on the wall and frame specimens indicated that the perforated steel plates contribute to the lateral strength, rigidity, ductility and energy absorption capacity of the wall and the infilled frame to a major extent. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=infill%20wall" title="infill wall">infill wall</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=strengthening" title=" strengthening"> strengthening</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=external%20plate" title=" external plate"> external plate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=earthquake%20behavior" title=" earthquake behavior"> earthquake behavior</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/4948/influence-of-strengthening-with-perforated-steel-plates-on-the-behavior-of-infill-walls-and-rc-frame" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/4948.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">450</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1</span> Investigation of Electrospun Composites Nanofiber of Poly (Lactic Acid)/Hazelnut Shell Powder/Zinc Oxide</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ibrahim%20Sengor">Ibrahim Sengor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sumeyye%20Cesur"> Sumeyye Cesur</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ilyas%20Kartal"> Ilyas Kartal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Faik%20Nuzhet%20Oktar"> Faik Nuzhet Oktar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nazmi%20Ekren"> Nazmi Ekren</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmet%20Talat%20Inan"> Ahmet Talat Inan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Oguzhan%20Gunduz"> Oguzhan Gunduz</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In recent years, many researchers focused on nano-size fiber production. Nanofibers have been studied due to their different and superior physical, chemical and mechanical properties. Poly (lactic acid) (PLA), is a type of biodegradable thermoplastic polyester derived from renewable sources used in biomedical owing to its biocompatibility and biodegradability. In addition, zinc oxide is an antibacterial material and hazelnut shell powder is a filling material. In this study, nanofibers were obtained by adding of different ratio Zinc oxide, (ZnO) and hazelnut shell powder at different concentration into Poly (lactic acid) (PLA) by using electrospinning method which is the most common method to obtain nanofibers. After dissolving the granulated polylactic acids in % 1,% 2,% 3 and% 4 with chloroform solvent, they are homogenized by adding tween and hazelnut shell powder at different ratios and then by electrospinning, nanofibers are obtained. Scanning electron microscope (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and physical analysis such as density, electrical conductivity, surface tension, viscosity measurement and antimicrobial test were carried out after production process. The resulting structures of the nanofiber possess antimicrobial and antiseptic properties, which are attractive for biomedical applications. The resulting structures of the nanofiber possess antimicrobial, non toxic, self-cleaning and rigid properties, which are attractive for biomedical applications. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electrospinning" title="electrospinning">electrospinning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hazelnut%20shell%20powder" title=" hazelnut shell powder"> hazelnut shell powder</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nanofibers" title=" nanofibers"> nanofibers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=poly%20%28lactic%20acid%29" title=" poly (lactic acid)"> poly (lactic acid)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=zinc%20oxide" title=" zinc oxide"> zinc oxide</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/96417/investigation-of-electrospun-composites-nanofiber-of-poly-lactic-acidhazelnut-shell-powderzinc-oxide" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/96417.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">162</span> </span> </div> </div> </div> </main> <footer> <div id="infolinks" class="pt-3 pb-2"> <div class="container"> <div style="background-color:#f5f5f5;" class="p-3"> <div class="row"> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> About <li><a href="https://waset.org/page/support">About Us</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/page/support#legal-information">Legal</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/WASET-16th-foundational-anniversary.pdf">WASET celebrates its 16th foundational anniversary</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Account <li><a href="https://waset.org/profile">My Account</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Explore <li><a href="https://waset.org/disciplines">Disciplines</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/conferences">Conferences</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/conference-programs">Conference Program</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/committees">Committees</a></li> <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org">Publications</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Research <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts">Abstracts</a></li> <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org">Periodicals</a></li> <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org/archive">Archive</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Open Science <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Open-Science-Philosophy.pdf">Open Science Philosophy</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Open-Science-Award.pdf">Open Science Award</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Open-Society-Open-Science-and-Open-Innovation.pdf">Open Innovation</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Postdoctoral-Fellowship-Award.pdf">Postdoctoral Fellowship Award</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Scholarly-Research-Review.pdf">Scholarly Research Review</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Support <li><a href="https://waset.org/page/support">Support</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/profile/messages/create">Contact Us</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/profile/messages/create">Report Abuse</a></li> </ul> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="container text-center"> <hr style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:.3rem;"> <a href="https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/" target="_blank" class="text-muted small">Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License</a> <div id="copy" class="mt-2">&copy;
