results of the project which aims at evaluating possibilities of effective development and exploitation of natural gas from argillaceous series of the Autochthonous Miocene in the Carpathian Foredeep. To achieve the objective, the research team develop a world-trend based but unique methodology of processing and interpretation, adjusted to data, local variations and petroleum characteristics of the area. In order to determine the zones in which maximum volumes of hydrocarbons might have been generated and preserved as shale gas reservoirs, as well as to identify the most preferable well sites where largest gas accumulations are anticipated a number of task were accomplished. Evaluation of petrophysical properties and hydrocarbon saturation of the Miocene complex is based on laboratory measurements as well as interpretation of well-logs and archival data. The studies apply mercury porosimetry (MICP), micro CT and nuclear magnetic resonance imaging (using the Rock Core Analyzer). For prospective location (e.g. central part of Carpathian Foredeep – Brzesko-Wojnicz area) reprocessing and reinterpretation of detailed seismic survey data with the use of integrated geophysical investigations has been made. Construction of quantitative, structural and parametric models for selected areas of the Carpathian Foredeep is performed on the basis of integrated, detailed 3D computer models. Modeling are carried on with the Schlumberger’s Petrel software. Finally, prospective zones are spatially contoured in a form of regional 3D grid, which will be framework for generation modelling and comprehensive parametric mapping, allowing for spatial identification of the most prospective zones of unconventional gas accumulation in the Carpathian Foredeep. Preliminary results of research works indicate a potentially prospective area for occurrence of unconventional gas accumulations in the Polish part of Carpathian Foredeep. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=autochthonous%20Miocene" title="autochthonous Miocene">autochthonous Miocene</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Carpathian%20foredeep" title=" Carpathian foredeep"> Carpathian foredeep</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Poland" title=" Poland"> Poland</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=shale%20gas" title=" shale gas"> shale gas</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/62319/exploration-of-hydrocarbon-unconventional-accumulations-in-the-argillaceous-formation-of-the-autochthonous-miocene-succession-in-the-carpathian-foredeep" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/62319.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">228</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">54</span> The Electric Car Wheel Hub Motor Work Analysis with the Use of 2D FEM Electromagnetic Method and 3D CFD Thermal Simulations</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Piotr%20Dukalski">Piotr Dukalski</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bartlomiej%20Bedkowski"> Bartlomiej Bedkowski</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tomasz%20Jarek"> Tomasz Jarek</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tomasz%20Wolnik"> Tomasz Wolnik</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The article is concerned with the design of an electric in wheel hub motor installed in an electric car with two-wheel drive. It presents the construction of the motor on the 3D cross-section model. Work simulation of the motor (applicated to Fiat Panda car) and selected driving parameters such as driving on the road with a slope of 20%, driving at maximum speed, maximum acceleration of the car from 0 to 100 km/h are considered by the authors in the article. The demand for the drive power taking into account the resistance to movement was determined for selected driving conditions. The parameters of the motor operation and the power losses in its individual elements, calculated using the FEM 2D method, are presented for the selected car driving parameters. The calculated power losses are used in 3D models for thermal calculations using the CFD method. Detailed construction of thermal models with materials data, boundary conditions and losses calculated using the FEM 2D method are presented in the article. The article presents and describes calculated temperature distributions in individual motor components such as winding, permanent magnets, magnetic core, body, cooling system components. Generated losses in individual motor components and their impact on the limitation of its operating parameters are described by authors. Attention is paid to the losses generated in permanent magnets, which are a source of heat as the removal of which from inside the motor is difficult. Presented results of calculations show how individual motor power losses, generated in different load conditions while driving, affect its thermal state. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electric%20car" title="electric car">electric car</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electric%20drive" title=" electric drive"> electric drive</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electric%20motor" title=" electric motor"> electric motor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20calculations" title=" thermal calculations"> thermal calculations</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wheel%20hub%20motor" title=" wheel hub motor"> wheel hub motor</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/93181/the-electric-car-wheel-hub-motor-work-analysis-with-the-use-of-2d-fem-electromagnetic-method-and-3d-cfd-thermal-simulations" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/93181.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">174</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">53</span> Vehicle to Grid Potential for Solar Powered Electric Vehicle</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marcin%20Kowalski">Marcin Kowalski</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tomasz%20Wiktor"> Tomasz Wiktor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Piotr%20Ladonski"> Piotr Ladonski</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Krzysztof%20Bortnowski"> Krzysztof Bortnowski</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Szymon%20Przybyl"> Szymon Przybyl</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mateusz%20Grzesiak"> Mateusz Grzesiak</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper provides a detailed overview of the so-called smart grid or vehicle-to-grid idea, including a description of our way of implementation. Many years of experience and classic analyses have led to a partially optimized model. Limitations on the energy resources of this class of autonomous systems make it necessary to search for more effective methods of optimisation. The use of the Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA) in these studies shows the most promising results. With the help of multiple evaluations of several qubit quantum circuits, proper results of variable parameter optimization were obtained. In addition, it was observed that the increase in the number of assessments does not result in further efficient growth due to the increasing complexity of optimising variables. The tests confirmed the effectiveness of the QAOA optimization method. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=algorithm%20analysis" title="algorithm analysis">algorithm analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=autonomous%20system" title=" autonomous system"> autonomous system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quantum%20optimization" title=" quantum optimization"> quantum optimization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tandem%20detonator" title=" tandem detonator"> tandem detonator</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/161188/analysis-of-tandem-detonator-algorithm-optimized-by-quantum-algorithm" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/161188.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">92</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">50</span> The Economic Limitations of Defining Data Ownership Rights</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kacper%20Tomasz%20Kr%C3%B6ber-Mulawa">Kacper Tomasz Kröber-Mulawa</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper will address the topic of data ownership from an economic perspective, and examples of economic limitations of data property rights will be provided, which have been identified using methods and approaches of economic analysis of law. The spatial resolution of the µCT images obtained was 27 µm, which enabled the author to create accurate 3-D visualizations of structure geometry and to calculate the ratio of pores volume to the total sample volume. A copper X-ray source filter was used to reduce image artifacts. Furthermore, samples Young’s modulus and Poisson ratio were obtained with use of ultrasonic pulse technique. µCT and ultrasonic pulse technique provide complex information which can be used for explorations and characterization of reservoir rocks. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=elastic%20parameters" title="elastic parameters">elastic parameters</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=linear%20absorption%20coefficient" title=" linear absorption coefficient"> linear absorption coefficient</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=northern%20Poland" title=" northern Poland"> northern Poland</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tight%20gas" title=" tight gas"> tight gas</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/65737/non-destructing-testing-of-sandstones-from-unconventional-reservoir-in-poland-with-use-of-ultrasonic-pulse-velocity-technique-and-x-ray-computed-microtomography" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/65737.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">251</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">48</span> Effect of UV Radiation to Change the Properties of the Composite PA+GF</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lenka%20Markovi%C4%8Dov%C3%A1">Lenka Markovičová</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Viera%20Zatkal%C3%ADkov%C3%A1"> Viera Zatkalíková</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tomasz%20Garbacz"> Tomasz Garbacz</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The development of composite materials and the related design and manufacturing technologies is one of the most important advances in the history of materials. Composites are multifunctional materials having unprecedented mechanical and physical properties that can be tailored to meet the requirements of a particular application. Some composites also exhibit great resistance to high-temperature corrosion, oxidation, and wear. Polymers are widely used indoors and outdoors, therefore they are exposed to a chemical environment which may include atmospheric oxygen, acidic fumes, acidic rain, moisture heat and thermal shock, ultra-violet light, high energy radiation, etc. Different polymers are affected differently by these factors even though the amorphous polymers are more sensitive. Ageing is also important and it is defined as the process of deterioration of engineering materials resulting from the combined effects of atmospheric radiation, heat, oxygen, water, micro-organisms and other atmospheric factors. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=composites%20with%20glass%20fibers" title="composites with glass fibers">composites with glass fibers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mechanical%20properties" title=" mechanical properties"> mechanical properties</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=polyamides" title=" polyamides"> polyamides</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=UV%20degradation" title=" UV degradation"> UV degradation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/31313/effect-of-uv-radiation-to-change-the-properties-of-the-composite-pagf" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/31313.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">288</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">47</span> Biological Evaluation and Molecular Modeling Study of Thiosemicarbazide Derivatives as Bacterial Type IIA Topoisomerases Inhibitors</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pawe%C5%82%20St%C4%85czek">Paweł Stączek</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tomasz%20Plech"> Tomasz Plech</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aleksandra%20Strzelczyk"> Aleksandra Strzelczyk</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Katarzyna%20Dzitko"> Katarzyna Dzitko</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Monika%20Wujec"> Monika Wujec</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Edyta%20Ku%C5%9Bmierz"> Edyta Kuśmierz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Piotr%20Paneth"> Piotr Paneth</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Agata%20Paneth"> Agata Paneth</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this contribution, we will describe the inhibitory potency of nine thiosemicarbazide derivatives against bacterial type IIA topoisomerases, their antibacterial profile, and molecular modeling evaluation. We have found that one of the tested compounds, 4-benzoyl-1-(2-methyl-furan-3-ylcarbonyl) thiosemicarbazide, remarkably inhibits the activity of S. aureus DNA gyrase with the IC50 below 5 μM. Besides, this compound displays antibacterial activity on Staphylococcus spp. and E. faecalis at non-cytotoxic concentrations in mammalian cells, with minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) values at 25 μg/mL. Based on the enzymatic and molecular modeling studies we propose two factors, i.e. geometry of molecule and hydrophobic/hydrophilic balance as important molecular properties for developing thiosemicarbazide derivatives as potent Staphylococcus aureus DNA gyrase inhibitors. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bioactivity" title="bioactivity">bioactivity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=drug%20design" title=" drug design"> drug design</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=topoisomerase" title=" topoisomerase"> topoisomerase</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=molecular%20modeling" title=" molecular modeling"> molecular modeling</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/20179/biological-evaluation-and-molecular-modeling-study-of-thiosemicarbazide-derivatives-as-bacterial-type-iia-topoisomerases-inhibitors" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/20179.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">569</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">46</span> Searching for Novel Scaffolds of Triazole Non-Nucleoside Inhibitors of HIV-1 Reverse Transcriptase</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tomasz%20Fr%C4%85czek">Tomasz Frączek</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Agata%20Paneth"> Agata Paneth</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rafa%C5%82%20Kami%C5%84ski"> Rafał Kamiński</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Agnieszka%20Krakowiak"> Agnieszka Krakowiak</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Piotr%20Paneth"> Piotr Paneth</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Azoles are a promising class of the new generation of HIV-1 nonnucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTIs). From thousands of reported compounds, many possess the same basic structure of an aryl substituted azole ring linked by a thioglycolamide chain with another aromatic ring. To find novel extensions for this primary scaffold, we explored the 5-position substitution of triazole NNRTIs using molecular docking followed by synthesis of selected compounds. We discovered that heterocyclic substituents in 5-position of the triazole ring are detrimental to the inhibitory activity of compounds with 4-membered thioglycolamide linker. This substitution seems to be viable only for compounds with a shorter 2-membered linker such as in derivatives of 4‐benzyl‐3‐(benzyl-sulfanyl)‐5‐(thiophen‐2‐yl)‐4H‐1,2,4‐triazole reported earlier. A new scaffold of 2‐[(4‐benzyl‐5‐methyl‐4H‐1,2,4‐triazol‐3‐yl)sulfanyl]‐N‐phenylacetamide has been identified in this study. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=docking" title="docking">docking</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=molecular%20modeling" title=" molecular modeling"> molecular modeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=drug%20design" title=" drug design"> drug design</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=novel%20scaffolds" title=" novel scaffolds"> novel scaffolds</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/20177/searching-for-novel-scaffolds-of-triazole-non-nucleoside-inhibitors-of-hiv-1-reverse-transcriptase" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/20177.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">541</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">45</span> Multimodal Database of Emotional Speech, Video and Gestures</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tomasz%20Sapi%C5%84ski">Tomasz Sapiński</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dorota%20Kami%C5%84ska"> Dorota Kamińska</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Adam%20Pelikant"> Adam Pelikant</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Egils%20Avots"> Egils Avots</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cagri%20Ozcinar"> Cagri Ozcinar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gholamreza%20Anbarjafari"> Gholamreza Anbarjafari</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> People express emotions through different modalities. In this study, the influence of various magnetic fields (MF) on the mass transfer process was examined. To carry out the prototype set-up equipped with an MF generator that is able to generate a pulsed magnetic field (PMF), oscillating magnetic field (OMF), rotating magnetic field (RMF) and static magnetic field (SMF) was used. To demonstrate the effect of MF’s on mass transfer, the calcium carbonate precipitation process was selected. To the vessel with attached conductometric probes and placed inside the generator, specific doses of calcium chloride and sodium carbonate were added. Electrical conductivity changes of the mixture inside the vessel were measured over time until equilibrium was established. Measurements were conducted for various MF strengths and concentrations of added chemical compounds. Obtained results were analyzed, which allowed to creation of mathematical correlation models showing the influence of MF’s on the studied process. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mass%20transfer" title="mass transfer">mass transfer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=oscillating%20magnetic%20field" title=" oscillating magnetic field"> oscillating magnetic field</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rotating%20magnetic%20field" title=" rotating magnetic field"> rotating magnetic field</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=static%20magnetic%20field" title=" static magnetic field"> static magnetic field</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/140936/mass-transfer-in-reactor-with-magnetic-field-generator" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/140936.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">206</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">43</span> The Use of X-Ray Computed Microtomography in Petroleum Geology: A Case Study of Unconventional Reservoir Rocks in Poland</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tomasz%20Wejrzanowski">Tomasz Wejrzanowski</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=%C5%81ukasz%20Kaczmarek"> Łukasz Kaczmarek</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Micha%C5%82%20Maksimczuk"> Michał Maksimczuk</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> High-resolution X-ray computed microtomography (µCT) is a non-destructive technique commonly used to determine the internal structure of reservoir rock sample. This study concerns µCT analysis of Silurian and Ordovician shales and mudstones from a borehole in the Baltic Basin, north of Poland. The spatial resolution of the µCT images obtained was 27 µm, which enabled the authors to create accurate 3-D visualizations and to calculate the ratio of pores and fractures volume to the total sample volume. A total of 1024 µCT slices were used to create a 3-D volume of sample structure geometry. These µCT slices were processed to obtain a clearly visible image and the volume ratio. A copper X-ray source filter was used to reduce image artifacts. Due to accurate technical settings of µCT it was possible to obtain high-resolution 3-D µCT images of low X-ray transparency samples. The presented results confirm the utility of µCT implementations in geoscience and show that µCT has still promising applications for reservoir exploration and characterization. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fractures" title="fractures">fractures</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=material%20density" title=" material density"> material density</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pores" title=" pores"> pores</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=structure" title=" structure"> structure</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/65758/the-use-of-x-ray-computed-microtomography-in-petroleum-geology-a-case-study-of-unconventional-reservoir-rocks-in-poland" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/65758.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">257</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">42</span> Microfungi on Sandy Beaches: Potential Threats for People Enjoying Lakeside Recreation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tomasz%20Balabanski">Tomasz Balabanski</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Anna%20Biedunkiewicz"> Anna Biedunkiewicz</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Research on basic bacteriological and physicochemical parameters conducted by state institutions (Provincial Sanitary and Epidemiological Station and District Sanitary and Epidemiological Station) are limited to bathing waters under constant sanitary and epidemiological supervision. Unfortunately, no routine or monitoring tests are carried out for the presence of microfungi. This also applies to beach sand used for recreational purposes. The purpose of the planned own research was to determine the diversity of the mycobiota present on supervised and unsupervised sandy beaches, on the shores of lakes, of municipal baths used for recreation. The research material consisted of microfungi isolated from April to October 2019 from sandy beaches of supervised and unsupervised lakes located within the administrative boundaries of the city of Olsztyn (North-Eastern Poland, Europe). Four lakes, out of the fifteen available (Tyrsko, Kortowskie, Skanda, and Ukiel), whose bathing waters are subjected to routine bacteriological tests, were selected for testing. To compare the diversity of the mycobiota composition on the surface and below the sand mixing layer, samples were taken from two depths (10 cm and 50 cm), using a soil auger. Micro-fungi from sand samples were obtained by surface inoculation on an RBC medium from the 1st dilution (1:10). After incubation at 25°C for 96-144 h, the average number of CFU/dm³ was counted. Morphologically differing yeast colonies were passaged into Sabouraud agar slants with gentamicin and incubated again. For detailed laboratory analyses, culture methods (macro- and micro-cultures) and identification methods recommended in diagnostic mycological laboratories were used. The conducted research allowed obtaining 140 yeast isolates. The total average population ranged from 1.37 × 10⁻² CFU/dm³ before the bathing season (April 2019), 1.64 × 10⁻³ CFU/dm³ in the season (May-September 2019), and 1.60 × 10⁻² CFU/dm³ after the end of the season (October 2019). More microfungi were obtained from the surface layer of sand (100 isolates) than from the deeper layer (40 isolates). Reported microfungi may circulate seasonally between individual elements of the lake ecosystem. From the sand/soil from the catchment area beaches, they can get into bathing waters, stopping periodically on the coastal phyllosphere. The sand of the beaches and the phyllosphere are a kind of filter for the water reservoir. The presence of microfungi with various pathogenicity potential in these places is of major epidemiological importance. Therefore, full monitoring of not only recreational waters but also sandy beaches should be treated as an element of constant control by appropriate supervisory institutions, allowing recreational areas for public use so that the use of these places does not involve the risk of infection. The specific objectives are to determine changes in the automotive industry during the pandemic, to show the types of disruptions in supply chains, and how to counteract these unfavorable situations. Enterprises from the automotive industry operating in Poland were deliberately selected for research. Using the purposive sampling method, ten companies from the automotive industry were selected for qualitative research. In-depth research was carried out in selected enterprises using a personal interview. At the beginning of the pandemic, lockdowns and unpredictability were a problem. The key was to protect employees and introduce appropriate procedures. In the later stages of the pandemic, there were restrictions on the timeliness of deliveries and extension of delivery times. There were problems with the shortage of materials, and the costs of products and transport increased. In automotive companies, counteracting the effects of the pandemic consisted of ensuring the safety of employees, maintaining constant contact and communication with branches and headquarters, as well as with suppliers and contractors. Magnetic field (MF) may be used to affect the process in many ways; for example, it can be used as a factor to stabilize the system. We can use MF to steer the operation, to activate or inhibit the process, or even to affect the vital activity of microorganisms. Using various types of magnetic field generators is always connected with the delivery of some heat to the system. Heat transfer is a very important phenomenon; it can influence the process positively and negatively, so it’s necessary to measure heat stream transferred from the place of generation and prevent negative influence on the operation. The aim of the presented work was to apply various types of magnetic fields and to measure heat transfer phenomena. The results were obtained by continuous measurement at several measuring points with temperature probes. Results were compilated in the form of temperature profiles. The study investigated the undetermined heat transfer in a custom system equipped with a magnetic field generator. The hypothesized relationships were tested on the basis of data from 355 Polish medium and large-sized enterprises. Data were analyzed using correlation analysis, EFA and robustness tests. The main result of the conducted analyses proved the coexistence, previously examined in the literature, of corporate entrepreneurship and firm performance. The obtained research findings made it possible to add organizational politics to a wide range of elements determining corporate entrepreneurship, followed by competitive advantage, in addition to antecedents such as strategic leadership, corporate culture, opportunity-oriented resource-based management, etc. Also, the empirical results suggest that four dimensions of organizational politics (dominant coalition, influence exertion, making organizational changes, and information openness) are positively related to firm competitiveness. In addition, these findings seem to underline a supposition that corporate entrepreneurship is an important mediator which strengthens the competitive effects of organizational politics. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=corporate%20entrepreneurship" title="corporate entrepreneurship">corporate entrepreneurship</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=firm%20competitiveness" title=" firm competitiveness"> firm competitiveness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=organizational%20politics" title=" organizational politics"> organizational politics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sensemaking" title=" sensemaking"> sensemaking</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/74956/the-bright-side-of-organizational-politics-as-a-driver-of-firm-competitiveness-the-mediating-role-of-corporate-entrepreneurship" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/74956.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">357</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">38</span> Use of Fuzzy Logic in the Corporate Reputation Assessment: Stock Market Investors’ Perspective</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tomasz%20L.%20Nawrocki">Tomasz L. The paper presents practical application of self-developed corporate reputation assessment model from the viewpoint of stock market investors. The model has a pioneer character and example analysis performed for selected industry is a form of specific test for this tool. In the proposed solution, three aspects - informational, financial and development, as well as social ones - were considered. It was also assumed that the individual sub-criteria will be based on public sources of information, and as the calculation apparatus, capable of obtaining synthetic final assessment, fuzzy logic will be used. The main reason for developing this model was to fulfill the gap in the scope of synthetic measure of corporate reputation that would provide higher degree of objectivity by relying on "hard" (not from surveys) and publicly available data. It should be also noted that results obtained on the basis of proposed corporate reputation assessment method give possibilities of various internal as well as inter-branch comparisons and analysis of corporate reputation impact. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=corporate%20reputation" title="corporate reputation">corporate reputation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fuzzy%20logic" title=" fuzzy logic"> fuzzy logic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fuzzy%20model" title=" fuzzy model"> fuzzy model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stock%20market%20investors" title=" stock market investors"> stock market investors</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/46482/use-of-fuzzy-logic-in-the-corporate-reputation-assessment-stock-market-investors-perspective" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/46482.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">247</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">37</span> Support for Planning of Mobile Personnel Tasks by Solving Time-Dependent Routing Problems</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wlodzimierz%20Ogryczak">Wlodzimierz Ogryczak</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tomasz%20Sliwinski"> Tomasz Sliwinski</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jaroslaw%20Hurkala"> Jaroslaw Hurkala</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mariusz%20Kaleta"> Mariusz Kaleta</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bartosz%20Kozlowski"> Bartosz Kozlowski</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Piotr%20Palka"> Piotr Palka</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Implementation concepts of a decision support system for planning and management of mobile personnel tasks (sales representatives and others) are discussed. From the practical point of view, bioprocess control is often limited to the regulation of temperature at constant values favourable to microbial growth. The main aim of this study is to determine the effect of various types of electromagnetic fields (i.e., static or alternating) on the heat transfer in a self-designed magnetically assisted reactor. The experimental set-up is equipped with a measuring instrument which controlled the temperature of the liquid inside the container and supervised the real-time acquisition of all the experimental data coming from the sensors. Temperature signals are also sampled from generator of magnetic field. The obtained temperature profiles were mathematically described and analyzed. The parameters characterizing the response to a step input of a first-order dynamic system were obtained and discussed. For example, the higher values of the time constant means slow signal (in this case, temperature) increase. After the period equal to about five-time constants, the sample temperature nearly reached the asymptotic value. This dynamical analysis allowed us to understand the heating effect under the action of various types of electromagnetic fields. Moreover, the proposed mathematical description can be used to compare the influence of different types of magnetic fields on heat transfer operations. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heat%20transfer" title="heat transfer">heat transfer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=magnetically%20assisted%20reactor" title=" magnetically assisted reactor"> magnetically assisted reactor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamical%20analysis" title=" dynamical analysis"> dynamical analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transient%20function" title=" transient function"> transient function</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/140933/dynamic-analysis-of-the-heat-transfer-in-the-magnetically-assisted-reactor" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/140933.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">171</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">35</span> Transmission of Values among Polish Young Adults and Their Parents: Pseudo Dyad Analysis and Gender Differences</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Karolina%20Pietras">Karolina Pietras</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Joanna%20Fryt"> Joanna Fryt</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aleksandra%20Gronostaj"> Aleksandra Gronostaj</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tomasz%20Smolen"> Tomasz Smolen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Young women and men differ from their parents in preferred values. Those differences enable their adaptability to a new socio-cultural context and help with fulfilling developmental tasks specific to young adulthood. At the same time core values, with special importance to family members, are transmitted within families. Intergenerational similarities in values may thus be both an effect of value transmission within a family and a consequence of sharing the same socio-cultural context. These processes are difficult to separate. In our study we assessed similarities and differences in values within four intergenerational family dyads (mothers-daughters, fathers-daughters, mothers-sons, fathers-sons). Sixty Polish young adults (30 women and 30 men aged 19-25) along with their parents (a total of 180 participants) completed the Schwartz’ Portrait Value Questionnaire (PVQ-21). To determine which values may be transmitted within families, we used a correlation analysis and pseudo dyad analysis that allows for the estimation of a baseline likeness between all tested subjects and consequently makes it possible to determine if similarities between actual family members are greater than chance. We also assessed whether different strategies of measuring similarity between family members render different results, and checked whether resemblances in family dyads are influenced by child’s and parent’s gender. Reported similarities were interpreted in light of the evolutionary and the value salience perspective. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=intergenerational%20differences%20in%20values" title="intergenerational differences in values">intergenerational differences in values</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gender%20differences" title=" gender differences"> gender differences</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pseudo%20dyad%20analysis" title=" pseudo dyad analysis"> pseudo dyad analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transmission%20of%20values" title=" transmission of values"> transmission of values</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/29592/transmission-of-values-among-polish-young-adults-and-their-parents-pseudo-dyad-analysis-and-gender-differences" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/29592.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">502</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">34</span> Histone Deacetylases Inhibitor - Valproic Acid Sensitizes Human Melanoma Cells for alkylating agent and PARP inhibitor</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ma%C5%82gorzata%20Drzewiecka">Małgorzata Drzewiecka</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tomasz%20%C5%9Aliwi%C5%84ski"> Tomasz Śliwiński</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maciej%20Radek"> Maciej Radek</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The inhibition of histone deacetyles (HDACs) holds promise as a potential anti-cancer therapy because histone and non-histone protein acetylation is frequently disrupted in cancer, leading to cancer initiation and progression. Additionally, histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDACi) such as class I HDAC inhibitor - valproic acid (VPA) have been shown to enhance the effectiveness of DNA-damaging factors, such as cisplatin or radiation. In this study, we found that, using of VPA in combination with talazoparib (BMN-637 – PARP1 inhibitor – PARPi) and/or Dacarabazine (DTIC - alkylating agent) resulted in increased DNA double strand break (DSB) and reduced survival (while not affecting primary melanocytes )and proliferation of melanoma cells. Furthermore, pharmacologic inhibition of class I HDACs sensitizes melanoma cells to apoptosis following exposure to DTIC and BMN-637. In addition, inhibition of HDAC caused sensitization of melanoma cells to dacarbazine and BMN-637 in melanoma xenografts in vivo. At the mRNA and protein level histone deacetylase inhibitor downregulated RAD51 and FANCD2. This study provides that combining HDACi, alkylating agent and PARPi could potentially enhance the treatment of melanoma, which is known for being one of the most aggressive malignant tumors. The findings presented here point to a scenario in which HDAC via enhancing the HR-dependent repair of DSBs created during the processing of DNA lesions, are essential nodes in the resistance of malignant melanoma cells to methylating agent-based therapies. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=melanoma" title="melanoma">melanoma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hdac" title=" hdac"> hdac</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=parp%20inhibitor" title=" parp inhibitor"> parp inhibitor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=valproic%20acid" title=" valproic acid"> valproic acid</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/167232/histone-deacetylases-inhibitor-valproic-acid-sensitizes-human-melanoma-cells-for-alkylating-agent-and-parp-inhibitor" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/167232.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">82</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">33</span> Transformation of Positron Emission Tomography Raw Data into Images for Classification Using Convolutional Neural Network</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pawe%C5%82%20Konieczka">Paweł Konieczka</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lech%20Raczy%C5%84ski"> Lech Raczyński</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wojciech%20Wi%C5%9Blicki"> Wojciech Wiślicki</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Oleksandr%20Fedoruk"> Oleksandr Fedoruk</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Konrad%20Klimaszewski"> Konrad Klimaszewski</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Przemys%C5%82aw%20Kopka"> Przemysław Kopka</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wojciech%20Krzemie%C5%84"> Wojciech Krzemień</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Roman%20Shopa"> Roman Shopa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jakub%20Baran"> Jakub Baran</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aur%C3%A9lien%20Coussat"> Aurélien Coussat</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Neha%20Chug"> Neha Chug</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Catalina%20Curceanu"> Catalina Curceanu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Eryk%20Czerwi%C5%84ski"> Eryk Czerwiński</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Meysam%20Dadgar"> Meysam Dadgar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kamil%20Dulski"> Kamil Dulski</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aleksander%20Gajos"> Aleksander Gajos</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Beatrix%20C.%20Hiesmayr"> Beatrix C. In positron emission tomography (PET) studies, CNN may be applied directly to the reconstructed distribution of radioactive tracers injected into the patient's body, as a pattern recognition tool. Nonetheless, much PET data still exists in non-image format and this fact opens a question on whether they can be used for training CNN. In this contribution, the main focus of this paper is the problem of processing vectors with a small number of features in comparison to the number of pixels in the output images. In the classical model, following Markowitz, the risk is measured by the variance thus representing the Sharpe ratio optimization and leading to the quadratic optimization problems. Several Linear Programming (LP) computable risk measures have been introduced and applied in portfolio optimization. In particular, the Mean Absolute Deviation (MAD) measure has been widely recognized. The reward-risk ratio optimization with the MAD measure can be transformed into the LP formulation with the number of constraints proportional to the number of scenarios and the number of variables proportional to the total of the number of scenarios and the number of instruments. This may lead to the LP models with huge number of variables and constraints in the case of real-life financial decisions based on several thousands scenarios, thus decreasing their computational efficiency and making them hardly solvable by general LP tools. We show that the computational efficiency can be then dramatically improved by an alternative model based on the inverse risk-reward ratio minimization and by taking advantages of the LP duality. In the introduced LP model the number of structural constraints is proportional to the number of instruments thus not affecting seriously the simplex method efficiency by the number of scenarios and therefore guaranteeing easy solvability. Moreover, we show that under natural restriction on the target value the MAD risk-reward ratio optimization is consistent with the second order stochastic dominance rules. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=portfolio%20optimization" title="portfolio optimization">portfolio optimization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reward-risk%20ratio" title=" reward-risk ratio"> reward-risk ratio</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mean%20absolute%20deviation" title=" mean absolute deviation"> mean absolute deviation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=linear%20programming" title=" linear programming"> linear programming</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/61665/portfolio-optimization-with-reward-risk-ratio-measure-based-on-the-mean-absolute-deviation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/61665.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">406</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">31</span> Wear Resistance and Thermal Stability of Tungsten Boride Layers Deposited by Magnetron Sputtering</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Justyna%20Chrzanowska">Justyna Chrzanowska</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jacek%20Hoffman"> Jacek Hoffman</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dariusz%20Garbiec"> Dariusz Garbiec</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=%C5%81ukasz%20Kurpaska"> Łukasz Kurpaska</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Piotr%20Denis"> Piotr Denis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tomasz%20Moscicki"> Tomasz Moscicki</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zygmunt%20Szymanski"> Zygmunt Szymanski</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Tungsten and boron compounds belong to the group of superhard materials and its hardness could exceed 40 GPa. In this study, the properties of the tungsten boride (WB) layers deposited in magnetron sputtering process are investigated. The sputtering process occurred from specially prepared targets that were composed of boron and tungsten mixed in molar ratio of 2.5 or 4.5 and sintered in spark plasma sintering process. WB layers were deposited on silicon (100) and stainless steel 304 substrates at room temperature (RT) or in 570 °C. Layers deposited in RT and in elevated temperature varied considerably. Layers deposited in RT are amorphous and have low adhesion. In contrast, the layers deposited in 570 °C are crystalline and have good adhesion. All deposited layers have a hardness about 40 GPa. Moreover, the friction coefficient of crystalline layers is 0.22 and wear rate is about 0.67•10-6 mm3N-1m-1. After material characterization the WB layers were annealed in argon atmosphere in 1000 °C for 1 hour. On the basis of X-Ray Diffraction analysis, it has been noted that the crystalline layers are thermally stable and do not change their phase composition, whereas the amorphous layers change their phase composition. Moreover, after annealing, on the surface of WB layers some cracks were observed. It is probably connected with the differences of the thermal expansion between the layer and the substrate. Despite of the presence of cracks, the wear resistance of annealed layers is still higher than the wear resistance of uncoated substrate. The analysis of the structure and properties of tungsten boride layers lead to the discussion about the application area of this material. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hard%20coatings" title="hard coatings">hard coatings</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hard%20materials" title=" hard materials"> hard materials</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=magnetron%20sputtering" title=" magnetron sputtering"> magnetron sputtering</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mechanical%20properties" title=" mechanical properties"> mechanical properties</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tungsten%20boride" title=" tungsten boride"> tungsten boride</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63347/wear-resistance-and-thermal-stability-of-tungsten-boride-layers-deposited-by-magnetron-sputtering" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63347.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">288</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">30</span> Long-Term Modal Changes in International Traffic - Example of the Polish Eastern Border</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tomasz%20Komornicki">Tomasz Komornicki</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The possibilities of cross-border traffic depend on the degree of permeability of a given border as well as the state of the existing transport infrastructure. The aim of this paper is to identify the impact of economic transformation, EU accession, and infrastructure development on modal shifts in border traffic through the Polish eastern boundary. In the 1980s railway was still the main mode of cross-border transport in Poland. At the beginning of the 1990s, the role of the road and rail transborder passenger traffic was similar, but since 1993, the role of rail was decreasing. The general decline in rail infrastructure in Poland continued uninterruptedly until accession to the European Union. The slow opposite trend can be observed later as a result of the inflow of European funds. In the countries neighbouring Poland from the east, these processes took place with some delay, and the loss of railway position was not so drastic. Therefore, cross-border railway connections have been maintained for quite a long time since the break-up of the USSR. However, finally, cross-border rail transport proved to be completely inflexible in relation to both economic, geopolitical, and transport transformations. It has been shown that the current modal split of the passenger border traffic was shaped by the following factors: a) closure of many transborder railway lines, especially local ones; b) the signing of an agreement on minor border traffic with Ukraine; c) rapidly growing number of citizens of Ukraine working in Poland (unofficial transportation of workers by car directly to their workplaces in Poland); d) the emergence of low-cost air connections between Ukraine and Poland and the growing role of air transport in the Russia-Poland relationship. The summary points to the possibility of a renewed increase in the importance of rail transport on the eastern border of the European Union. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modal%20change" title="modal change">modal change</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=border" title=" border"> border</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rail%20transport" title=" rail transport"> rail transport</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Poland" title=" Poland"> Poland</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/138771/long-term-modal-changes-in-international-traffic-example-of-the-polish-eastern-border" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/138771.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">200</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">29</span> Recovery of Au and Other Metals from Old Electronic Components by Leaching and Liquid Extraction Process</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tomasz%20Smolinski">Tomasz Smolinski</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Irena%20Herdzik-Koniecko"> Irena Herdzik-Koniecko</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marta%20Pyszynska"> Marta Pyszynska</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20Rogowski"> M. Significant quantities of valuable metals such as gold, silver or copper are used for the production of advanced electronic devices. Old useless electronic device slowly became a new source of precious metals, very often more efficient than natural. For example, it is possible to recover more gold from 1-ton personal computers than seventeen tons of gold ore. It makes urban mining industry very profitable and necessary for sustainable development. For the recovery of metals from waste of electronic equipment, various treatment options based on conventional physical, hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical processes are available. In this group hydrometallurgy processes with their relatively low capital cost, low environmental impact, potential for high metal recoveries and suitability for small scale applications, are very promising options. Institute of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology has great experience in hydrometallurgy processes especially focused on recovery metals from industrial and agricultural wastes. At the moment, urban mining project is carried out. The method of effective recovery of valuable metals from central processing units (CPU) components has been developed. The principal processes such as acidic leaching and solvent extraction were used for precious metals recovery from old processors and graphic cards. Electronic components were treated by acidic solution at various conditions. Optimal acid concentration, time of the process and temperature were selected. Precious metals have been extracted to the aqueous phase. At the next step, metals were selectively extracted by organic solvents such as oximes or tributyl phosphate (TBP) etc. Multistage mixer-settler equipment was used. The process was optimized. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electronic%20waste" title="electronic waste">electronic waste</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=leaching" title=" leaching"> leaching</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hydrometallurgy" title=" hydrometallurgy"> hydrometallurgy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=metal%20recovery" title=" metal recovery"> metal recovery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=solvent%20extraction" title=" solvent extraction"> solvent extraction</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/98691/recovery-of-au-and-other-metals-from-old-electronic-components-by-leaching-and-liquid-extraction-process" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/98691.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">137</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28</span> Analysis of the Effect of Increased Self-Awareness on the Amount of Food Thrown Away</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Agnieszka%20Dubiel">Agnieszka Dubiel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Artur%20Grabowski"> Artur Grabowski</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tomasz%20Przerywacz"> Tomasz Przerywacz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mateusz%20Roganowicz"> Mateusz Roganowicz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Patrycja%20Zioty"> Patrycja Zioty</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Food waste is one of the most significant challenges humanity is facing nowadays. Every year, reports from global organizations show the scale of the phenomenon, although society's awareness is still insufficient. One-third of the food produced in the world is wasted at various points in the food supply chain. Wastes are present from the delivery through the food preparation and distribution to the end of the sale and consumption. The first step in understanding and resisting the phenomenon is a thorough analysis of the everyday behaviors of humanity. This concept is understood as finding the correlation between the type of food and the reason for throwing it out and wasting it. Those actions were identified as a critical step in the start of work to develop technology to prevent food waste. In this paper, the problem mentioned above was analyzed by focusing on the inhabitants of Central Europe, especially Poland, aged 20-30. This paper provides an insight into collecting data through dedicated software and an organized database. The proposed database contains information on the amount, type, and reasons for wasting food in households. A literature review supported the work to answer research questions, compare the situation in Poland with the problem analyzed in other countries, and find research gaps. The proposed article examines the cause of food waste and its quantity in detail. This review complements previous reviews by emphasizing social and economic innovation in Poland's food waste management. The paper recommends a course of action for future research on food waste management and prevention related to the handling and disposal of food, emphasizing households, i.e., the last link in the supply chain. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=food%20waste" title="food waste">food waste</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=food%20waste%20reduction" title=" food waste reduction"> food waste reduction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=consumer%20food%20waste" title=" consumer food waste"> consumer food waste</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=human-food%20interaction" title=" human-food interaction"> human-food interaction</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/151378/analysis-of-the-effect-of-increased-self-awareness-on-the-amount-of-food-thrown-away" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/151378.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">119</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">27</span> Small Scale Waste to Energy Systems: Optimization of Feedstock Composition for Improved Control of Ash Sintering and Quality of Generated Syngas</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mateusz%20Szul">Mateusz Szul</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tomasz%20Iluk"> Tomasz Iluk</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aleksander%20Sobolewski"> Aleksander Sobolewski</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Small-scale, distributed energy systems enabling cogeneration of heat and power based on gasification of sewage sludge, are considered as the most efficient and environmentally friendly ways of their treatment. However, economic aspects of such an investment are very demanding; therefore, for such a small scale sewage sludge gasification installation to be profitable, it needs to be efficient and simple at the same time. The article presents results of research on air gasification of sewage sludge in fixed bed GazEla reactor. Two of the most important aspects of the research considered the influence of the composition of sewage sludge blends with other feedstocks on properties of generated syngas and ash sintering problems occurring at the fixed bed. Different means of the fuel pretreatment and blending were proposed as a way of dealing with the above mentioned undesired characteristics. Influence of RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel) and biomasses in the fuel blends were evaluated. Ash properties were assessed based on proximate, ultimate, and ash composition analysis of the feedstock. The blends were specified based on complementary characteristics of such criteria as C content, moisture, volatile matter, Si, Al, Mg, and content of basic metals in the ash were analyzed, Obtained results were assessed with use of experimental gasification tests and laboratory ISO-procedure for analysis of ash characteristic melting temperatures. Optimal gasification process conditions were determined by energetic parameters of the generated syngas, its content of tars and lack of ash sinters within the reactor bed. Optimal results were obtained for co-gasification of herbaceous biomasses with sewage sludge where LHV (Lower Heating Value) of the obtained syngas reached a stable value of 4.0 MJ/Nm3 for air/steam gasification. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ash%20fusibility" title="ash fusibility">ash fusibility</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gasification" title=" gasification"> gasification</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=piston%20engine" title=" piston engine"> piston engine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sewage%20sludge" title=" sewage sludge"> sewage sludge</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/91124/small-scale-waste-to-energy-systems-optimization-of-feedstock-composition-for-improved-control-of-ash-sintering-and-quality-of-generated-syngas" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/91124.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">196</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">26</span> Influence of Magnetic Field on the Antibacterial Properties of Pine Oil</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dawid%20So%C5%82oducha">Dawid Sołoducha</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tomasz%20Borowski"> Tomasz Borowski</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Agata%20Markowska-Szczupak"> Agata Markowska-Szczupak</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aneta%20Weso%C5%82owska"> Aneta Wesołowska</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marian%20Kordas"> Marian Kordas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rafa%C5%82%20Rakoczy"> Rafał Rakoczy</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Many studies report varied effects of the magnetic field in medicine, but applications are still missing. Also, essential oils (EOs) were historically used in healing therapies, food preservation and the cosmetic industry due to their wound healing and antioxidant properties and antimicrobial activity. Unfortunately, the chemical characterization of EOs activates its antibacterial action only at a fairly high concentration. They can cause skin reactions, e.g., irritation (irritant contact dermatitis) or allergic contact dermatitis; therefore, they should always be used with caution. However, the administration of EOs to achieve the desired antimicrobial activity and stability with long-term medical usage in low concentration is challenging. The aim of this work was to investigate the antimicrobial activity of commercial Pinus sylvestris L. essential oil from Polish company Avicenna-Oil® under Rotating Magnetic Field (RMF) at f = 1 – 50 Hz. The novel construction of the magnetically assisted self-constructed reactor (MAP) was applied for this study. The chemical composition of essential pine oil was determined by gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Model bacteria Escherichia coli K12 (ATCC 25922) was used. Different concentrations of pine oil was prepared: 100% 50%, 25%, 12.5% and 6.25%. The disc diffusion and MIC test were done. To examine the effect of essential pine oil and rotating magnetic field RMF on antibacterial performance agar plate method was used. Pine oil consist of α-pinene (28.58%), β-pinene (17.79%), δ-3-carene (14.17%) and limonene (11.58%). The present study indicates the exposition to the RMF, as compared to the unexposed controls causing an increase in the efficacy of antibacterial properties of pine oil. We have shown that the rotating magnetic fields (RMF) at a frequency, f, between 25 Hz to 50 Hz, increase the antimicrobial efficiency of oil at lower than 50% concentration. The new method can be applied in many fields e.g. aromatherapy, medicine as a component of dressing, or as food preservatives. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
