The PDP works with the primitive distributed application programming interfaces (PDA), the distributed modeling, and the distributed concurrency for scaling-up. They not only hide developers from underlying technical details but also support sufficient adaptability to a variety of distributed computing environments. Programming with them, the simplest distributed system, the lightweight messaging two-node client/server (TNCS) system, is constructed rapidly with straightforward and repeatable behaviors, copy-paste-replace (CPR). As any distributed systems are made up of the simplest ones, those PDAs, as well as the PDP, are generic for distributed programming. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=primitive%20APIs" title="primitive APIs">primitive APIs</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=primitive%20code-level%20design%20patterns" title=" primitive code-level design patterns"> primitive code-level design patterns</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=generic%20distributed%20programming" title=" generic distributed programming"> generic distributed programming</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distributed%20systems" title=" distributed systems"> distributed systems</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=highly%20patterned%20development%20environment" title=" highly patterned development environment"> highly patterned development environment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=messaging" title=" messaging"> messaging</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/135687/the-primitive-code-level-design-patterns-for-distributed-programming" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/135687.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">191</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">11003</span> A Survey on Concurrency Control Methods in Distributed Database</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seyed%20Mohsen%20Jameii">Seyed Mohsen Jameii</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In the last years, remarkable improvements have been made in the ability of distributed database systems performance. A distributed database is composed of some sites which are connected to each other through network connections. In this system, if good harmonization is not made between different transactions, it may result in database incoherence. Nowadays, because of the complexity of many sites and their connection methods, it is difficult to extend different models in distributed database serially. The principle goal of concurrency control in distributed database is to ensure not interfering in accessibility of common database by different sites. Different concurrency control algorithms have been suggested to use in distributed database systems. In this paper, some available methods have been introduced and compared for concurrency control in distributed database. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distributed%20database" title="distributed database">distributed database</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=two%20phase%20locking%20protocol" title=" two phase locking protocol"> two phase locking protocol</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transaction" title=" transaction"> transaction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=concurrency" title=" concurrency"> concurrency</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/69917/a-survey-on-concurrency-control-methods-in-distributed-database" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/69917.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">352</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">11002</span> An Experimental Testbed Using Virtual Containers for Distributed Systems</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Parth%20Patel">Parth Patel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ying%20Zhu"> Ying Zhu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Distributed systems have become ubiquitous, and they continue their growth through a range of services. With advances in resource virtualization technology such as Virtual Machines (VM) and software containers, developers no longer require high-end servers to test and develop distributed software. Even in commercial production, virtualization has streamlined the process of rapid deployment and service management. This paper introduces a distributed systems testbed that utilizes virtualization to enable distributed systems development on commodity computers. The testbed can be used to develop new services, implement theoretical distributed systems concepts for understanding, and experiment with virtual network topologies. We show its versatility through two case studies that utilize the testbed for implementing a theoretical algorithm and developing our own methodology to find high-risk edges. The results of using the testbed for these use cases have proven the effectiveness and versatility of this testbed across a range of scenarios. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distributed%20systems" title="distributed systems">distributed systems</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=experimental%20testbed" title=" experimental testbed"> experimental testbed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=peer-to-peer%20networks" title=" peer-to-peer networks"> peer-to-peer networks</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=virtual%20container%20technology" title=" virtual container technology"> virtual container technology</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/133579/an-experimental-testbed-using-virtual-containers-for-distributed-systems" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/133579.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">146</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">11001</span> Artificial Intelligence and Distributed System Computing: Application and Practice in Real Life</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lai%20Junzhe">Lai Junzhe</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wang%20Lihao"> Wang Lihao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Burra%20Venkata%20Durga%20Kumar"> Burra Venkata Durga Kumar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In recent years, due to today's global technological advances, big data and artificial intelligence technologies have been widely used in various industries and fields, playing an important role in reducing costs and increasing efficiency. Among them, artificial intelligence has derived another branch in its own continuous progress and the continuous development of computer personnel, namely distributed artificial intelligence computing systems. Distributed AI is a method for solving complex learning, decision-making, and planning problems, characterized by the ability to take advantage of large-scale computation and the spatial distribution of resources, and accordingly, it can handle problems with large data sets. Nowadays, distributed AI is widely used in military, medical, and human daily life and brings great convenience and efficient operation to life. In this paper, we will discuss three areas of distributed AI computing systems in vision processing, blockchain, and smart home to introduce the performance of distributed systems and the role of AI in distributed systems. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distributed%20system" title="distributed system">distributed system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=artificial%20intelligence" title=" artificial intelligence"> artificial intelligence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=blockchain" title=" blockchain"> blockchain</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=IoT" title=" IoT"> IoT</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=visual%20information%20processing" title=" visual information processing"> visual information processing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=smart%20home" title=" smart home"> smart home</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/153089/artificial-intelligence-and-distributed-system-computing-application-and-practice-in-real-life" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/153089.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">113</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">11000</span> The Fusion of Blockchain and AI in Supply Chain Finance: Scalability in Distributed Systems</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wu%20You">Wu You</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Burra%20Venkata%20Durga%20Kumar"> Burra Venkata Durga Kumar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study examines the promising potential of integrating Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to scalability in Distributed Systems within the field of supply chain finance. One of the main challenges in designing a distributed controller is identifying the governing dynamics of the dynamical systems. Data-driven system identification is currently undergoing a revolution. With the availability of high-fidelity measurements and historical data, model-free identification of dynamical systems can facilitate the control design without tedious modeling of high-dimensional and/or nonlinear systems. This paper develops a distributed control design using consensus theory for linear and nonlinear dynamical systems using sparse identification of system dynamics. Compared with existing consensus designs that heavily rely on knowing the detailed system dynamics, the proposed model-free design can accurately capture the dynamics of the system with available measurements and input data and provide guaranteed performance in consensus and tracking problems. Heterogeneous damped oscillators are chosen as examples of dynamical system for validation purposes. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=consensus%20tracking" title="consensus tracking">consensus tracking</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distributed%20control" title=" distributed control"> distributed control</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=model-free%20control" title=" model-free control"> model-free control</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sparse%20identification%20of%20dynamical%20systems" title=" sparse identification of dynamical systems"> sparse identification of dynamical systems</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/144452/model-free-distributed-control-of-dynamical-systems" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/144452.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">265</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10998</span> The Quotation-Based Algorithm for Distributed Decision Making</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gennady%20P.%20Ginkul">Gennady P. Most organizations and business owners need to extract data from multiple sources and apply analytical methods for the purposes of developing their business. Therefore, the recently decentralized data management environment is relying on a distributed computing paradigm. While data are stored in highly distributed systems, the implementation of distributed data-mining techniques is a challenge. The aim of this technique is to gather knowledge from every domain and all the datasets stemming from distributed resources. As agent technologies offer significant contributions for managing the complexity of distributed systems, we consider this for next-generation data-mining processes. To demonstrate agent-based business intelligence operations, we use agent-oriented modeling techniques to develop a new artifact for mining massive datasets. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=agent-oriented%20modeling%20%28AOM%29" title="agent-oriented modeling (AOM)">agent-oriented modeling (AOM)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=business%20intelligence%20model%20%28BIM%29" title=" business intelligence model (BIM)"> business intelligence model (BIM)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distributed%20data%20mining%20%28DDM%29" title=" distributed data mining (DDM)"> distributed data mining (DDM)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multi-agent%20system%20%28MAS%29" title=" multi-agent system (MAS)"> multi-agent system (MAS)</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/44164/business-intelligence-mining-of-large-decentralized-multimedia-datasets-with-a-distributed-multi-agent-system" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/44164.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">431</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10996</span> Voltage Profile Enhancement in the Unbalanced Distribution Systems during Fault Conditions</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=K.%20Jithendra%20Gowd">K. Fault resistance is a critical parameter of electric power systems operation due to its stochastic nature. Query processing uses a communication network for transmitting data between sites. It refers to one of the challenges in the database world. The development of sophisticated query optimization technology is the reason for the commercial success of database systems, which complexity and cost increase with increasing number of relations in the query. Mariposa, query trading and query trading with processing task-trading strategies developed for autonomous distributed database systems, but they cause high optimization cost because of involvement of all nodes in generating an optimal plan. In this paper, we proposed a modification on the autonomous strategy K-QTPT that make the seller&rsquo;s nodes with the lowest cost have gradually high priorities to reduce the optimization time. From big data analysis to business intelligence, the increased computational power and efficiency from distributed systems serve as an invaluable resource in the healthcare sector to utilize. However, as the usage of these distributed systems increases, many issues arise. The main focus of this paper will be on security issues. Many security issues stem from distributed systems in the healthcare industry, particularly information security. The data of people is especially sensitive in the healthcare industry. If important information gets leaked (Eg. IC, credit card number, address, etc.), a person’s identity, financial status, and safety might get compromised. This results in the responsible organization losing a lot of money in compensating these people and even more resources expended trying to fix the fault. Therefore, a framework for a blockchain-based healthcare data management system for healthcare was proposed. In this framework, the usage of a blockchain network is explored to store the encryption key of the patient’s data. As for the actual data, it is encrypted and its encrypted data, called ciphertext, is stored in a cloud storage platform. Furthermore, there are some issues that have to be emphasized and tackled for future improvements, such as a multi-user scheme that could be proposed, authentication issues that have to be tackled or migrating the backend processes into the blockchain network. Due to the nature of blockchain technology, the data will be tamper-proof, and its read-only function can only be accessed by authorized users such as doctors and nurses. This guarantees the confidentiality and immutability of the patient’s data. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distributed" title="distributed">distributed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=healthcare" title=" healthcare"> healthcare</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=efficiency" title=" efficiency"> efficiency</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=security" title=" security"> security</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=blockchain" title=" blockchain"> blockchain</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=confidentiality%20and%20immutability" title=" confidentiality and immutability"> confidentiality and immutability</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/145663/a-proposal-to-tackle-security-challenges-of-distributed-systems-in-the-healthcare-sector" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/145663.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">184</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10989</span> Performance Evaluation of Distributed and Co-Located MIMO LTE Physical Layer Using Wireless Open-Access Research Platform</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ishak%20Suleiman">Ishak Suleiman</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmad%20Kamsani%20Samingan"> Ahmad Kamsani Samingan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yeoh%20Chun%20Yeow"> Yeoh Chun Yeow</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdul%20Aziz%20Bin%20Abdul%20Rahman"> Abdul Aziz Bin Abdul Rahman</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, we evaluate the benefits of distributed 4x4 MIMO LTE downlink systems compared to that of the co-located 4x4 MIMO LTE downlink system. They provide such necessary properties as Scalability, Fault Tolerance, Durability, and others. At the same time, not only reliable but also fast data storage remains one of the most pressing issues in this area. That brings us to the consensus algorithm as one of the most important components that has a great impact on the functionality of a distributed system. This paper is the result of an analysis of several well-known consensus algorithms, such as Paxos and Raft. The algorithm it offers, called Sync, promotes, but does not insist on simultaneous writing to the nodes (which positively affects the overall writing speed) and tries to minimize the system's inactive time. This allows nodes to reach agreement on the system state in a shorter period, which is a critical factor for distributed systems. Also when developing Sync, a lot of attention was paid to such criteria as simplicity and intuitiveness, the importance of which is difficult to overestimate. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sync" title="sync">sync</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=consensus%20algorithm" title=" consensus algorithm"> consensus algorithm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distributed%20system" title=" distributed system"> distributed system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=leader-based" title=" leader-based"> leader-based</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=synchronization." title=" synchronization."> synchronization.</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/179045/sync-consensus-algorithm-trying-to-reach-an-agreement-at-full-speed" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/179045.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">62</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10987</span> Distributed System Computing Resource Scheduling Algorithm Based on Deep Reinforcement Learning</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yitao%20Lei">Yitao Lei</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xingxiang%20Zhai"> Xingxiang Zhai</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Burra%20Venkata%20Durga%20Kumar"> Burra Venkata Durga Kumar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> As the quantity and complexity of computing in large-scale software systems increase, distributed system computing becomes increasingly important. The distributed system realizes high-performance computing by collaboration between different computing resources. If there are no efficient resource scheduling resources, the abuse of distributed computing may cause resource waste and high costs. However, resource scheduling is usually an NP-hard problem, so we cannot find a general solution. However, some optimization algorithms exist like genetic algorithm, ant colony optimization, etc. The large scale of distributed systems makes this traditional optimization algorithm challenging to work with. Heuristic and machine learning algorithms are usually applied in this situation to ease the computing load. As a result, we do a review of traditional resource scheduling optimization algorithms and try to introduce a deep reinforcement learning method that utilizes the perceptual ability of neural networks and the decision-making ability of reinforcement learning. Using the machine learning method, we try to find important factors that influence the performance of distributed system computing and help the distributed system do an efficient computing resource scheduling. This paper surveys the application of deep reinforcement learning on distributed system computing resource scheduling proposes a deep reinforcement learning method that uses a recurrent neural network to optimize the resource scheduling, and proposes the challenges and improvement directions for DRL-based resource scheduling algorithms. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=resource%20scheduling" title="resource scheduling">resource scheduling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=deep%20reinforcement%20learning" title=" deep reinforcement learning"> deep reinforcement learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distributed%20system" title=" distributed system"> distributed system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=artificial%20intelligence" title=" artificial intelligence"> artificial intelligence</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/152538/distributed-system-computing-resource-scheduling-algorithm-based-on-deep-reinforcement-learning" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/152538.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">111</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10986</span> Sensitivity Analysis for 14 Bus Systems in a Distribution Network with Distribution Generators</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lakshya%20Bhat">Lakshya Bhat</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Anubhav%20Shrivastava"> Anubhav Shrivastava</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shivarudraswamy"> Shivarudraswamy</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> There has been a formidable interest in the area of Distributed Generation in recent times. Experimental results show that the distributed architecture is significantly upgradeable in respect to centralized approach. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=network" title="network">network</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=intrusion%20detection%20system" title=" intrusion detection system"> intrusion detection system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=peer%20to%20peer" title=" peer to peer"> peer to peer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=internal%20and%20external%20network" title=" internal and external network "> internal and external network </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/25216/intrusion-detection-system-based-on-peer-to-peer" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/25216.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">547</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10983</span> A Preliminary Conceptual Scale to Discretize the Distributed Manufacturing Continuum</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ijaz%20Ul%20Haq">Ijaz Ul Haq</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fiorenzo%20Franceschini"> Fiorenzo Franceschini</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The distributed manufacturing methodology brings a new concept of decentralized manufacturing operations close to the proximity of end users. A preliminary scale, to measure distributed capacity and evaluate positioning of firms, is developed in this research. In the first part of the paper, a literature review has been performed which highlights the explorative nature of the studies conducted to present definitions and classifications due to novelty of this topic. From literature, five dimensions of distributed manufacturing development stages have been identified: localization, manufacturing technologies, customization and personalization, digitalization and democratization of design. Based on these determinants a conceptual scale is proposed to measure the status of distributed manufacturing of a generic firm. A multiple case study is then conducted in two steps to test the conceptual scale and to identify the corresponding level of distributed potential in each case study firm. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distributed%20manufacturing" title="distributed manufacturing">distributed manufacturing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distributed%20capacity" title=" distributed capacity"> distributed capacity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=localized%20production" title=" localized production"> localized production</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ordinal%20scale" title=" ordinal scale"> ordinal scale</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89405/a-preliminary-conceptual-scale-to-discretize-the-distributed-manufacturing-continuum" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89405.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">163</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10982</span> Composite Distributed Generation and Transmission Expansion Planning Considering Security </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amir%20Lotfi">Amir Lotfi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seyed%20Hamid%20Hosseini"> Seyed Hamid Hosseini </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> During the recent past, due to the increase of electrical energy demand and governmental resources constraints in creating additional capacity in the generation, transmission, and distribution, privatization, and restructuring in electrical industry have been considered. So, in most of the countries, different parts of electrical industry like generation, transmission, and distribution have been separated in order to create competition. Considering these changes, environmental issues, energy growth, investment of private equity in energy generation units and difficulties of transmission lines expansion, distributed generation (DG) units have been used in power systems. Moreover, reduction in the need for transmission and distribution, the increase of reliability, improvement of power quality, and reduction of power loss have caused DG to be placed in power systems. On the other hand, considering low liquidity need, private investors tend to spend their money for DGs. In this project, the main goal is to offer an algorithm for planning and placing DGs in order to reduce the need for transmission and distribution network. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=planning" title="planning">planning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transmission" title=" transmission"> transmission</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distributed%20generation" title=" distributed generation"> distributed generation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=power%20security" title=" power security"> power security</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=power%20systems" title=" power systems"> power systems</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/68494/composite-distributed-generation-and-transmission-expansion-planning-considering-security" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/68494.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">480</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10981</span> Parallel Querying of Distributed Ontologies with Shared Vocabulary</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sharjeel%20Aslam">Sharjeel Aslam</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Vassil%20Vassilev"> Vassil Vassilev</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Karim%20Ouazzane"> Karim Ouazzane</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Ontologies and various semantic repositories became a convenient approach for implementing model-driven architectures of distributed systems on the Web. These networks generally have a simple protection system usually implemented using fuses, re-closers, and over-current relays. Recently, great attention has been paid to applying Distributed energy resources (DERs) throughout electric distribution systems. Presence of such generation in a network leads to losing coordination of protection devices. Therefore, it is desired to develop an algorithm which is capable of protecting distribution systems that include DER. On the other hand smart grid brings opportunities to the power system. Fast advancement in communication and measurement techniques accelerates the development of multi agent system (MAS). So in this paper, a new approach for the protection of distribution networks in the presence of DERs is presented base on MAS. The proposed scheme has been implemented on a sample 27-bus distribution network. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distributed%20energy%20resource" title="distributed energy resource">distributed energy resource</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distribution%20network" title=" distribution network"> distribution network</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=protection" title=" protection"> protection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=smart%20grid" title=" smart grid"> smart grid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multi%20agent%20system" title=" multi agent system"> multi agent system</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/33470/a-multi-agent-based-protection-scheme-for-smart-distribution-network-in-presence-of-distributed-energy-resources" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/33470.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">608</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10979</span> Unbalanced Distribution Optimal Power Flow to Minimize Losses with Distributed Photovoltaic Plants </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Malinwo%20Estone%20Ayikpa">Malinwo Estone Ayikpa</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Electric power systems are likely to operate with minimum losses and voltage meeting international standards. This is made possible generally by control actions provide by automatic voltage regulators, capacitors and transformers with on-load tap changer (OLTC). With the development of photovoltaic (PV) systems technology, their integration on distribution networks has increased over the last years to the extent of replacing the above mentioned techniques. The conventional analysis and simulation tools used for electrical networks are no longer able to take into account control actions necessary for studying distributed PV generation impact. This paper presents an unbalanced optimal power flow (OPF) model that minimizes losses with association of active power generation and reactive power control of single-phase and three-phase PV systems. Reactive power can be generated or absorbed using the available capacity and the adjustable power factor of the inverter. The unbalance OPF is formulated by current balance equations and solved by primal-dual interior point method. Several simulation cases have been carried out varying the size and location of PV systems and the results show a detailed view of the impact of PV distributed generation on distribution systems. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distribution%20system" title="distribution system">distribution system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=loss" title=" loss"> loss</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=photovoltaic%20generation" title=" photovoltaic generation"> photovoltaic generation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=primal-dual%20interior%20point%20method" title=" primal-dual interior point method"> primal-dual interior point method</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/65488/unbalanced-distribution-optimal-power-flow-to-minimize-losses-with-distributed-photovoltaic-plants" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/65488.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">332</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10978</span> Optimal Protection Coordination in Distribution Systems with Distributed Generations</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdorreza%20Rabiee">Abdorreza Rabiee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shahla%20Mohammad%20Hoseini%20Mirzaei"> Shahla Mohammad Hoseini Mirzaei</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The advantages of distributed generations (DGs) based on renewable energy sources (RESs) leads to high penetration level of DGs in distribution network. With incorporation of DGs in distribution systems, the system reliability and security, as well as voltage profile, is improved. However, the protection of such systems is still challenging. In this paper, at first, the related papers are reviewed and then a practical scheme is proposed for coordination of OCRs in distribution system with DGs. The coordination problem is formulated as a nonlinear programming (NLP) optimization problem with the object function of minimizing total operating time of OCRs. The proposed method is studied based on a simple test system. The optimization problem is solved by General Algebraic Modeling System (GAMS) to calculate the optimal time dial setting (TDS) and also pickup current setting of OCRs. The results show the effectiveness of the proposed method and its applicability. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distributed%20generation" title="distributed generation">distributed generation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DG" title=" DG"> DG</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distribution%20network" title=" distribution network"> distribution network</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=over%20current%20relay" title=" over current relay"> over current relay</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=OCR" title=" OCR"> OCR</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=protection%20coordination" title=" protection coordination"> protection coordination</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pickup%20current" title=" pickup current"> pickup current</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=time%20dial%20setting" title=" time dial setting"> time dial setting</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=TDS" title=" TDS"> TDS</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95260/optimal-protection-coordination-in-distribution-systems-with-distributed-generations" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95260.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">138</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10977</span> Optimizing Communications Overhead in Heterogeneous Distributed Data Streams</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rashi%20Bhalla">Rashi Bhalla</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Russel%20Pears"> Russel Pears</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20Asif%20Naeem"> M. One of such challenges that have not received the attention of many researchers is the inability of existing systems to adapt to constantly changing databases and mining environments. In this work, an Adaptive Incremental Mining Algorithm (AIMA) is therefore proposed to address these problems. AIMA employed multiple mobile agents for the entire mining process. AIMA was designed to adapt to changes in the distributed databases by mining only the incremental database updates and using this to update the existing rules in order to improve the overall response time of the DARM system. In AIMA, global association rules were integrated incrementally from one data site to another through Results Integration Coordinating Agents. The mining agents in AIMA were made adaptive by defining mining goals with reasoning and behavioral capabilities and protocols that enabled them to either maintain or change their goals. AIMA employed Java Agent Development Environment Extension for designing the internal agents’ architecture. Results from experiments conducted on real datasets showed that the adaptive system, AIMA performed better than the non-adaptive systems with lower communication costs and higher task completion rates. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adaptivity" title="adaptivity">adaptivity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=data%20mining" title=" data mining"> data mining</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distributed%20association%20rule%20mining" title=" distributed association rule mining"> distributed association rule mining</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=incremental%20mining" title=" incremental mining"> incremental mining</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mobile%20agents" title=" mobile agents"> mobile agents</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/10014/an-adaptive-distributed-incremental-association-rule-mining-system" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/10014.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">393</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10975</span> Hierarchical Control Structure to Control the Power Distribution System Components in Building Systems</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hamed%20Sarbazy">Hamed Sarbazy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zohre%20Gholipour%20Haftkhani"> Zohre Gholipour Haftkhani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ali%20Safari"> Ali Safari</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pejman%20Hosseiniun"> Pejman Hosseiniun</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Scientific and industrial progress in the past two decades has resulted in energy distribution systems based on power electronics, as an enabling technology in various industries and building management systems can be considered.
