And, if any one sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, <i>the</i> Righteous. <A name="3"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_john/2-2.htm"><b>2</b></a></span>And He is <i>the</i> propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the whole world.<p> <A name="4"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_john/2-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>And in this we know that we have known Him, if we keep His commandments. <A name="5"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_john/2-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>He who says, "I have known Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; <A name="6"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_john/2-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>but whosoever keeps His word, truly in him the love of God has been perfected: in this we know that we are in Him. <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_john/2-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>He who says that he is abiding in Him ought himself also to walk even as He walked.<p> <A name="8"></a><p class="hdg">A New Commandment<p><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_john/2-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>Beloved, I write no new commandment to you, but and old commandment which ye had from <i>the</i> beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye heard. <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_john/2-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in Him and in you; because the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining. <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_john/2-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>He who says that he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in the darkness even until now. <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_john/2-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>He that loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no occasion of stumbling in him. <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_john/2-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>But he that hates his brother is in the darkness, and walks in the darkness, and knows not where he is going, because the darkness blinded his eyes.<p> <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_john/2-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>I write to you, little children, because your sins have been forgiven you for His name's sake. <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_john/2-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>I write to you, fathers, because ye have known Him <i>Who is</i> from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because ye have conquered the evil one. I wrote to you, little children, because ye have known the Father. <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_john/2-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>I wrote to you, fathers, because ye have known Him <i>Who is</i> from the beginning. I wrote to you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and ye have conquered the evil one.<p> <A name="16"></a><p class="hdg">Do Not Love the World<p><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_john/2-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>Love not the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him; <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_john/2-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>because all that is in the world?the desire of the flesh, the desire of the eyes, and the vain-glory of life?is not of the Father, but is of the world. <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_john/2-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>And the world is passing away, and the desire thereof; but be that does the will of God abides forever.<p> <A name="19"></a><p class="hdg">Beware of Antichrists<p><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_john/2-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>Little children, it is the last hour; and, as ye heard that Anti-Christ is coming, even now many anti-christs have arisen; whence we know that it is the last hour. <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_john/2-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>They went out from among us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but <i>they went out</i>, that they might be made manifest, that they are not all of us. <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_john/2-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>And ye have an anointing from the Holy One, and ye all know <i>Him</i>. <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_john/2-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>I did not write to you because ye know not the truth; but because ye know it, and because no falsehood is of the truth. <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_john/2-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>Who is the liar, but he that denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the Anti-Christ, he that denies the Father and the Son. <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_john/2-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>Every one who denies the Son has not the Father either; he who confesses the Son has the Father also. <A name="25"></a><p class="hdg">Remain in Christ<p><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_john/2-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>As for you, let that which ye heard from the beginning abide in you.
