Structural integrity of the Road blocker is studied by nonlinear dynamic methods under the loading conditions which are defined in the standards. NASTRAN® and LS-DYNA® which are commercial software are used to solve the problem. Outer geometry determination, alignment of the inner part and material properties of the road blocker are studied linearly to yield design parameters. Best design parameters are determined to achieve the most structurally optimized road blocker. It is well-known that the steel drive shaft is usually manufactured in two pieces to increase the fundamental bending natural frequency to ensure safe operation conditions. In this work, hybrid one-piece propeller shafts composed of carbon/epoxy and glass/epoxy composites have been designed for a rear wheel drive automobile satisfying three design specifications, such as static torque transmission capability, torsional buckling and the fundamental natural bending frequency. Hybridization of carbon and glass fibers is being studied to optimize the cost/performance requirements. Composites shaft materials with various fiber orientation angles and stacking sequences are being fabricated and analyzed using finite element analysis (FEA). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=composite%20propeller%20shaft" title="composite propeller shaft">composite propeller shaft</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hybridization" title=" hybridization"> hybridization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=epoxy%20matrix" title=" epoxy matrix"> epoxy matrix</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=static%20torque%20transmission%20capability" title=" static torque transmission capability"> static torque transmission capability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=torsional%20buckling%20strength" title=" torsional buckling strength"> torsional buckling strength</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fundamental%20natural%20bending%20frequency." title=" fundamental natural bending frequency."> fundamental natural bending frequency.</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/90888/an-investigation-on-hybrid-composite-drive-shaft-for-automotive-industry" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/90888.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">270</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">124</span> Levels and Trends of Under-Five Mortality in South Africa from 1998 to 2012</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=T.%20Motsima">T. Although the level of under-five mortality has been declining, it is still unacceptably high. The primary aim of this paper is to establish and analyse the levels and trends of under-five mortality for the periods 1998, 2003 and 2012 in South Africa. Methods: The data used for analysis came from the 1998 SADHS, the 2003 SADHS and the 2012 SABSSM which collected information on the survival status of children. The Kaplan-Meier estimate of the survival function method was used to determine the probabilities of failure (death) from birth up to 59 months. Results and Conclusion: The overall U5MR declined by 28.2% from 53.1 in 1998 to 38.1 in 2012. The U5MR of male children declined from 59.2 in 1998 to 46.2 in 2003 and dropped further to 41.4 in 2012. The U5MR of children of mothers aged 40 years and older increased from 64.0 in 1998 to 89.0 in 2003 and rose further to 129.9 in 2012. The U5MR of children of mothers with education level of 12 years or more increased from 32.2 in 1998 to 35.2 in 2003 and declined substantially to 17.5 in 2012. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=demographic%20and%20health%20survey" title="demographic and health survey">demographic and health survey</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kaplan-Meier" title=" Kaplan-Meier"> Kaplan-Meier</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=levels%20and%20trends" title=" levels and trends"> levels and trends</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=under-five%20mortality" title=" under-five mortality"> under-five mortality</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/120546/levels-and-trends-of-under-five-mortality-in-south-africa-from-1998-to-2012" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/120546.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">136</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">123</span> Early Versus Delayed Antiretroviral Therapy in HIV‐positive People with Tuberculosis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohhamed%20El%20Habib%20Labdouni">Mohhamed El Habib Labdouni</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Introduction: Co-infection with VIH and tuberculosis poses one of the major ongoing challenges for global TB and AIDS prevention and control. The objective of this study is to raise the issue of the resurgence of TB, in People living with VIH supported in a referent center in western Algeria. Its epidemiological, clinical, biological and radiological new trends, and to compare the mortality rate between early and delayed ART. Methods: It was a prospective study, during 36 months from the 01st/01/2012 to 31st/12/2014, by identifying and analyzing cases of TB-VIH co-infection. Our population was devised in two groups/ early ART and delayed ART. The primary and secondary endpoints were analyzed with Kaplan-Meier curves and log-rank test the period of follow up, which was fixed at 300 weeks. Results: Sixty cases of co-infection TB -VIH were enrolled in our study: 78.3% had pulmonary tuberculosis associated with extra-pulmonary, 13.3% had only pulmonary tuberculosis and 08.3% presented strictly extra-pulmonary TB. The clinical particularity of this co-infection is the frequency of serious localization such us: pleural 23.3%, peritoneal 31.7%, and meningeal suffusion 13.3%.y-.biologicaly we notice the predominance both of pancytopenia and leucoanemia, hyponatremia in 38,6% and hypokalemia in 19,3%. By analyzing Kaplan-Meier survival curves, we notice that early ART initiation is associated with a significant reduction of all-cause mortality (p = 0,000), and we have identified several prognostic factors such as hypokalemia hyponatremia, leukocytosis thrombopenemia leucothrombopenia (p = 0,005). Conclusion: Our study confirms most of the results reported in the literature. Early ART initiation reduces the rate of all-cause mortality, despite the probability of the occurrence of TB-IRIS. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=TB-HIV%20co-infection" title="TB-HIV co-infection">TB-HIV co-infection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=early%20ART" title=" early ART"> early ART</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hyponatremia" title=" hyponatremia"> hyponatremia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=extrapulmonary%20tuberculosis" title=" extrapulmonary tuberculosis"> extrapulmonary tuberculosis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/142918/early-versus-delayed-antiretroviral-therapy-in-hivpositive-people-with-tuberculosis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/142918.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">182</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">122</span> Predictor Factors for Treatment Failure among Patients on Second Line Antiretroviral Therapy</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohd.%20A.%20M.%20Rahim">Mohd. There are many factors such as non-adherence, drug resistance as well as virological and immunological failure that lead to second line highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) regimen treatment failure. This study was aimed at determining predictor factors to treatment failure with second line HAART and analyzing median survival time. An observational, retrospective study was conducted in Sungai Buloh Hospital (HSB) to assess current status of HIV patients treated with second line HAART regimen. Convenience sampling was used and 104 patients were included based on the study’s inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data was collected for six months i.e. from July until December 2013. Data was then analysed using SPSS version 18. Kaplan-Meier and Cox regression analyses were used to measure median survival times and predictor factors for treatment failure. The study population consisted mainly of male subjects, aged 30-45 years, who were heterosexual, and had HIV infection for less than 6 years. The most common second line HAART regimen given was lopinavir/ritonavir (LPV/r)-based combination. Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that patients on LPV/r demonstrated longer median survival times than patients on indinavir/ritonavir (IDV/r) based combination (p<0.001). The commonest reason for a treatment to fail with second line HAART was non-adherence. Based on Cox regression analysis, other predictor factors for treatment failure with second line HAART regimen were age and mode of HIV transmission. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adherence" title="adherence">adherence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=antiretroviral%20therapy" title=" antiretroviral therapy"> antiretroviral therapy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=second%20line" title=" second line"> second line</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=treatment%20failure" title=" treatment failure"> treatment failure</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/13817/predictor-factors-for-treatment-failure-among-patients-on-second-line-antiretroviral-therapy" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/13817.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">264</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">121</span> Iterative White Balance Adjustment Process in Production Line</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Onur%20Onder">Onur Onder</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Celal%20Tanuca"> Celal Tanuca</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mahir%20Ozil"> Mahir Ozil</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Halil%20Sen"> Halil Sen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alk%C4%B1m%20Ozkan"> Alkım Ozkan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Engin%20Ceylan"> Engin Ceylan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ali%20Istek"> Ali Istek</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ozgur%20Saglam"> Ozgur Saglam</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> White balance adjustment of LCD TVs is an important procedure which has a direct influence on quality perception. New drugs have been introduced, including the group of drugs called Angiotensin receptor Neprilysin Inhibitor (ARNI), but due to their high cost, angiotensin-converting enzymes inhibitors (ACEIs) and Angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) have been mostly used in Tanzania. However, according to our knowledge, the efficacy comparison of the two groups is yet to be studied in Tanzania. The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of ACEIs and ARBs among patients with heart failure. Methodology: This was a hospital-based prospective cohort study done at Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institution (JKCI), Tanzania, from June to December 2020. Consecutive enrollment was done until fulfilling the inclusion criteria. Clinical details were measured at baseline. We assessed the relationship between ARBs and ACEIs users with N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT pro-BNP) levels at admission and at 1-month follow-up using a chi-square test. A Kaplan-Meier curve was used to estimate the survival time of the two groups. Results: 155 HF patients were enrolled, with a mean age of 48 years, whereby 52.3% were male, and their mean left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) was 37.3%. 52 (33.5%) heart failure patients were on ACEIs, 57 (36.8%) on ARBs, and 46 (29.7%) were neither using ACEIs nor ARBs. At least half of the patients did not receive a guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT), with only 82 (52.9%) receiving a GDMT. A drop in NT pro-BNP levels was observed during admission and at 1-month follow-up on both groups, from 6389.2 pg/ml to 4000.1 pg/ml for ARB users and 5877.7 pg/ml to 1328.2 pg/ml for the ACEIs users. There was no statistical difference between the two groups when estimated by the Kaplan-Meier curve, though more deaths were observed in those who were neither on ACEIs nor ARBs, with a calculated P value of 0.01. Conclusion: This study demonstrates that ACEIs have more efficacy and overall better clinical outcome than ARBs, but this should be taken under the patient-based case, considering the side effects of ACEIs and patients’ adherence. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=angiotensin%20converting%20enzymes%20inhibitors" title="angiotensin converting enzymes inhibitors">angiotensin converting enzymes inhibitors</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=angiotensin%20receptor%20blockers" title=" angiotensin receptor blockers"> angiotensin receptor blockers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=guideline%20direct%20medical%20therapy" title=" guideline direct medical therapy"> guideline direct medical therapy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=N-terminal%20pro-brain%20natriuretic%20peptide" title=" N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide"> N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/157181/comparative-efficacy-of-angiotensin-converting-enzymes-inhibitors-and-angiotensin-receptor-blockers-in-patients-with-heart-failure-in-tanzania-a-prospective-cohort-study" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/157181.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">85</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">116</span> Uplink Throughput Prediction in Cellular Mobile Networks</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Engin%20Eyceyurt">Engin Eyceyurt</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Josko%20Zec"> Josko Zec</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The current and future cellular mobile communication networks generate enormous amounts of data. Networks have become extremely complex with extensive space of parameters, features and counters. These networks are unmanageable with legacy methods and an enhanced design and optimization approach is necessary that is increasingly reliant on machine learning. This paper proposes that machine learning as a viable approach for uplink throughput prediction. LTE radio metric, such as Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP), Reference Signal Received Quality (RSRQ), and Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) are used to train models to estimate expected uplink throughput. The prediction accuracy with high determination coefficient of 91.2% is obtained from measurements collected with a simple smartphone application. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=drive%20test" title="drive test">drive test</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=LTE" title=" LTE"> LTE</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=machine%20learning" title=" machine learning"> machine learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=uplink%20throughput%20prediction" title=" uplink throughput prediction"> uplink throughput prediction</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/127005/uplink-throughput-prediction-in-cellular-mobile-networks" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/127005.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">157</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">115</span> Evaluating the Probability of Foreign Tourists' Return to the City of Mashhad, Iran</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Rahim%20Rahnama">Mohammad Rahim Rahnama</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amir%20Ali%20Kharazmi"> Amir Ali Kharazmi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Safiye%20Rokni"> Safiye Rokni</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The tourism industry will be the most important unlimited, sustainable source of income after the oil and automotive industries by 2020 and not only countries, but cities are striving to apprehend its various facets. In line with this objective, the present descriptive-analytical study, through survey and using a questionnaire, seeks to evaluate the probability of tourists’ return and their recommendation to their countrymen to travel to Mashhad, Iran. The population under study is a sample of 384 foreign tourists who, in 2016, arrived at Mashhad, the second metropolis in Iran and its biggest religious city. The Kaplan-Meier estimator was used to analyze the data. Twenty-six percent of the tourists are female and 74% are male. On average, each tourist has had 3.02 trips abroad and 2.1 trips to Mashhad. Tourists from 14 different countries have arrived at Mashhad. Kuwait (15.9%), Armenia (15.6%), and Iraq (10.9%) were the countries where most tourists originated. Seventy-six percent of the tourists traveled with family and 90% of the tourists arrived at Mashhad via airplane. Major purposes of tourists’ trip include pilgrimage (27.9%), treatment (22.1%) followed by pilgrimage and treatment combined (35.4%). Major issues for tourists, in the order of priority, include quality of goods and services (30.2%), shopping (18%), and inhabitants’ treatment of foreigners (15.9%). Main tourist attractions, in addition to the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza, include Torqabeh and Shandiz (Torqabeh 40.9% and Shandiz 29.9%), Neyshabour (18.2%) followed by Kalat, 4.4%. The average willingness to return among tourists is 3.13, which is higher than the mean 3, indicating satisfaction with the stay in Mashhad. Similarly, the average for tourists’ recommending to their countrymen to visit Mashhad is 3.42, which is also an indicator of tourists’ satisfaction with their presence in Mashhad. According to the findings of the Kaplan-Meier estimator, an increase in the number of tourists’ trips to Mashhad, and an increase in the number of tourists’ foreign trips, reduces the probability of recommending a trip to Mashhad by tourists. Similarly, willingness to return is higher among those who stayed at a relatives’ home compared with other patterns of residence (hotels, self-catering accommodation, and pilgrim houses). Therefore, addressing the issues raised by tourists is essential for their return and their recommendation to others to travel to Mashhad. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=international%20tourist" title="international tourist">international tourist</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=probability%20of%20return" title=" probability of return"> probability of return</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=satisfaction" title=" satisfaction"> satisfaction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mashhad" title=" Mashhad"> Mashhad</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/87099/evaluating-the-probability-of-foreign-tourists-return-to-the-city-of-mashhad-iran" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/87099.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">170</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">114</span> Investigation of Bremsstrahlung, Braking Radiation from Beta-Emitting Radioactive Sources</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Metin%20K%C3%B6ms%C3%B6ken">Metin Kömsöken</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ay%C5%9Fe%20G%C3%BCne%C5%9F%20Tan%C4%B1r"> Ayşe Güneş Tanır</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Onur%20Karaman"> Onur Karaman </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Usage of high energy charged particles for diagnosis and treatment has been widespread in medicine. In this study, plasma treatment was applied by using glow discharge plasma system to 100% polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and 95% PET/5% elastane fabrics and then the effects of plasma polymerization on fabric surface was tested and analyzed using water and oil repellent finishes. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=plasma" title="plasma">plasma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=polyester" title=" polyester"> polyester</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=elastane" title=" elastane"> elastane</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=water%20repellency" title=" water repellency"> water repellency</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=oil%20repellency" title=" oil repellency"> oil repellency</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/73125/a-study-on-the-water-and-oil-repellency-characteristics-of-plasma-treated-pet-and-petelastane-fabrics" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/73125.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">323</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">109</span> A Taxonomy Proposal on Criterion Structure for Evaluating Freight Village Concepts in Early-Stage Design Projects</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=R%C4%B1za%20G%C3%BCrhan%20Korkut">Rıza Gürhan Korkut</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Metin%20%C3%87elik"> Metin Çelik</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=S%C3%BCleyman%20%C3%96zkaynak"> Süleyman Özkaynak</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The early-stage design and development projects for the freight village initiatives require a comprehensive analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data. Considering the literature review on structural and operational management requirements, this study proposed an original taxonomy on criterion structure to assess freight village conceptualization. The potential challenges and uncertainties of the developed taxonomy are extended. Besides requirement analysis, this study is also expected to contribute to forthcoming research on benchmarking of freight villages in different regions. The methodology used in this research is a systematic review on several articles as per their modelling approaches, sustainability, entities and decisions made together with the uncertainties and features of their models taken into consideration. The major findings of the study that are the categories for assessing the projects attributes on their environmental, socio-economical, accessibility and location aspects. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=logistics%20centers" title="logistics centers">logistics centers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=freight%20village" title=" freight village"> freight village</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=operational%20management" title=" operational management"> operational management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=taxonomy" title=" taxonomy"> taxonomy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/84930/a-taxonomy-proposal-on-criterion-structure-for-evaluating-freight-village-concepts-in-early-stage-design-projects" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/84930.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">181</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">108</span> Low SPOP Expression and High MDM2 expression Are Associated with Tumor Progression and Predict Poor Prognosis in Hepatocellular Carcinoma</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chang%20Liang">Chang Liang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Weizhi%20Gong"> Weizhi Gong</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yan%20Zhang"> Yan Zhang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Purpose: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a malignant tumor with a high mortality rate and poor prognosis worldwide. Murine double minute 2 (MDM2) regulates the tumor suppressor p53, increasing cancer risk and accelerating tumor progression. Speckle-type POX virus and zinc finger protein (SPOP), a key of subunit of Cullin-Ring E3 ligase, inhibits tumor genesis and progression by the ubiquitination of its downstream substrates. This study aimed to clarify whether SPOP and MDM2 are mutually regulated in HCC and the correlation between SPOP and MDM2 and the prognosis of HCC patients. Methods: First, the expression of SPOP and MDM2 in HCC tissues were detected by TCGA database. Then, 53 paired samples of HCC tumor and adjacent tissues were collected to evaluate the expression of SPOP and MDM2 using immunohistochemistry. Chi-square test or Fisher’s exact test were used to analyze the relationship between clinicopathological features and the expression levels of SPOP and MDM2. In addition, Kaplan‒Meier curve analysis and log-rank test were used to investigate the effects of SPOP and MDM2 on the survival of HCC patients. Last, the Multivariate Cox proportional risk regression model analyzed whether the different expression levels of SPOP and MDM2 were independent risk factors for the prognosis of HCC patients. Results: Bioinformatics analysis revealed the low expression of SPOP and high expression of MDM2 were related to worse prognosis of HCC patients. The relationship between the expression of SPOP and MDM2 and tumor stem-like features showed an opposite trend. The immunohistochemistry showed the expression of SPOP protein was significantly downregulated while MDM2 protein significantly upregulated in HCC tissue compared to that in para-cancerous tissue. Tumors with low SPOP expression were related to worse T stage and Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) stage, but tumors with high MDM2 expression were related to worse T stage, M stage, and BCLC stage. Kaplan–Meier curves showed HCC patients with high SPOP expression and low MDM2 expression had better survival than those with low SPOP expression and high MDM2 expression (P < 0.05). A multivariate Cox proportional risk regression model confirmed that a high MDM2 expression level was an independent risk factor for poor prognosis in HCC patients (P <0.05). Conclusion: The expression of SPOP protein was significantly downregulated, while the expression of MDM2 significantly upregulated in HCC. The low expression of SPOP and high expression. of MDM2 were associated with malignant progression and poor prognosis of HCC patients, indicating a potential therapeutic target for HCC patients. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hepatocellular%20carcinoma" title="hepatocellular carcinoma">hepatocellular carcinoma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=murine%20double%20minute%202" title=" murine double minute 2"> murine double minute 2</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=speckle-type%20POX%20virus%20and%20zinc%20finger%20protein" title=" speckle-type POX virus and zinc finger protein"> speckle-type POX virus and zinc finger protein</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ubiquitination" title=" ubiquitination"> ubiquitination</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/148798/low-spop-expression-and-high-mdm2-expression-are-associated-with-tumor-progression-and-predict-poor-prognosis-in-hepatocellular-carcinoma" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/148798.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">144</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">107</span> Determination of the Some IGF and IGFBP2 Polymorphisms and Their Association with Growth and Egg Traits in Atak-S Chickens</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Huseyi%CC%87n%20Das">Huseyi̇n Das</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=B%C3%BClent%20Tarim"> Bülent Tarim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sunay%20Demi%CC%87r"> Sunay Demi̇r</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nur%C3%A7i%CC%87n%20K%C3%BC%C3%A7%C3%BCkkent"> Nurçi̇n Küçükkent</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sevi%CC%87l%20Cengi%CC%87z"> Sevi̇l Cengi̇z</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Engi%CC%87n%20T%C3%BClek"> Engi̇n Tülek</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Veci%CC%87hi%CC%87%20Aksakal"> Veci̇hi̇ Aksakal</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Atak-S laying hens are a high-performance strain obtained by crossing of the Rhode Island Red (RIR) X the Barred Plymouth Rock (BR) and are being produced in the Ankara Poultry Research Institute since 1997. Phenotypic and genetic improving studies are continued for this strain. In this study, 2 from IGF and 1 from IGFBP2, totally 3 different SNP polymorphisms were examined in 200 Atak-S chickens. Genotypes of SNPs were compared using ANOVA to body weight and egg number thorough 32 weeks of age, body weight at sexual maturity, age at sexual maturity and also egg quality traits such as egg shell breaking strength, shell thickness, Haugh unit, albumen index, yolk index, shape index. Only IGF(a) locus was in agreement with Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, while, the other loci were not. As a result of the performance comparisons to the 3 SNP loci, it was determined that there has a significant association (P<0.05) between only TC genotypes of the IGF(b) locus and body weight at 32 weeks of age, but there was not any association to the other traits. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Atak-S" title="Atak-S">Atak-S</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Igf" title=" Igf"> Igf</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Igfbp2" title=" Igfbp2"> Igfbp2</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=single%20nucleotide%20polymorphism" title=" single nucleotide polymorphism"> single nucleotide polymorphism</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/48416/determination-of-the-some-igf-and-igfbp2-polymorphisms-and-their-association-with-growth-and-egg-traits-in-atak-s-chickens" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/48416.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">367</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">106</span> Effect of Sewing Speed on the Physical Properties of Firefighter Sewing Threads</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Adnan%20Mazari">Adnan Mazari</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Engin%20Akcagun"> Engin Akcagun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Antonin%20Havelka"> Antonin Havelka</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Funda%20Buyuk%20Mazari"> Funda Buyuk Mazari</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pavel%20Kejzlar"> Pavel Kejzlar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This article experimentally investigates various physical properties of special fire retardant sewing threads under different sewing speeds. The aramid threads are common for sewing the fire-fighter clothing due to high strength and high melting temperature. 3 types of aramid threads with different linear densities are used for sewing at different speed of 2000 to 4000 r/min. The needle temperature is measured at different speeds of sewing and tensile properties of threads are measured before and after the sewing process respectively. The results shows that the friction and abrasion during the sewing process causes a significant loss to the tensile properties of the threads and needle temperature rises to nearly 300oC at 4000 r/min of machine speed. The Scanning electron microscope images are taken before and after the sewing process and shows no melting spots but significant damage to the yarn. It is also found that machine speed of 2000r/min is ideal for sewing firefighter clothing for higher tensile properties and production. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kevlar" title="Kevlar">Kevlar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=needle%20temperautre" title=" needle temperautre"> needle temperautre</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nomex" title=" nomex"> nomex</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sewing" title=" sewing"> sewing</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/43164/effect-of-sewing-speed-on-the-physical-properties-of-firefighter-sewing-threads" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/43164.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">532</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">105</span> Pre-Service Teachers’ Opinions on Disabled People</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sinem%20Toraman">Sinem Toraman</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aysun%20%C3%96ztuna%20Kaplan"> Aysun Öztuna Kaplan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hatice%20Merto%C4%9Flu"> Hatice Mertoğlu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Esra%20Macaro%C4%9Flu%20Akg%C3%BCl"> Esra Macaroğlu Akgül</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study aims to examine pre-service teachers’ opinions on disabled people taking into consideration various variables. These can be achieved through science-based planning, ecosystem-based management, strict observations and controls. The ideal water temperature for rainbow trout, which are intensively farmed in the Black Sea Region of Turkey, should be below 20 oC. In summer, the water temperature exceeds this value in some dams where production is carried out. For this reason, it has become obligatory to transfer to dams where the water temperature is low in order to provide suitable temperature conditions. There are many factors that may cause stress to trout during transportation. Some of these stress factors are starvation of the fish for a while to avoid contamination of the water, mobility and noise during transportation and loading, dissolved oxygen content and composition of the water in the transportation tanks, etc. The starvation stress caused by starvation/lack of food during transportation causes a certain amount of loss of macronutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins and fats in the tissues. This situation causes changes in metabolic activities and the energy balance of fish species. In this study, oxidant-antioxidant values and stress markers of rainbow trout starved before transplantation will be evaluated. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=oncorhynchus%20mykiss" title="oncorhynchus mykiss">oncorhynchus mykiss</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=starvation%20stress" title=" starvation stress"> starvation stress</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=TAS" title=" TAS"> TAS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=TOS" title=" TOS"> TOS</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/176689/effects-of-starvation-stress-on-antioxidant-defense-system-in-rainbow-trout-oncorhynchus-mykiss" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/176689.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">81</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">103</span> Poly (Acrylonitrile-Co-Methylacrylate)/Poly N-Methyl Pyrrole and Pyrrole Nanocomposites</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fatma%20Zehra%20Engin%20Sagirli">Fatma Zehra Engin Sagirli</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Eyup%20Sabri%20Kayali"> Eyup Sabri Kayali</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=A.%20Sezai%20Sarac"> A. The spectroscopic characterizations during the formation of nanocomposites were studied using Attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared (FTIR-ATR) spectroscopy, ultraviolet–visible spectrophotometer (Uv-Vis). Electrical conductivity of the emulsion solution was measured by Conductivity Meter from aqueous sample solution. Also, yield of the powder nanocomposites was measured. SDBS and SDS used for investigation of surfactant effect on yield, electrical conductivity and polymerization process. Determination of polymerization yield, (FTIR-ATR) and (Uv-Vis) prove that the SDBS surfactant become more incorporated into the conducting polymers and there is strong interaction between the [P(AN-co-MA)]-PPy derivatives which prepared by these surfactants. The similar inclusion of SDS into conducting polymers was not observed, there is a remarkable difference at nanocomposites which prepared with SDS. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nanocomposites" title="nanocomposites">nanocomposites</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=core-shell" title=" core-shell"> core-shell</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pyrole" title=" pyrole"> pyrole</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=surfactant" title=" surfactant"> surfactant</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/56074/poly-acrylonitrile-co-methylacrylatepoly-n-methyl-pyrrole-and-pyrrole-nanocomposites" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/56074.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">403</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">102</span> Application of Costing System in the Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SME) in Turkey</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hamide%20%C3%96zy%C3%BCrek">Hamide Özyürek</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Metin%20Y%C4%B1lmaz"> Metin Yılmaz </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Standard processes, similar and limited production lines, the production of high direct costs will be more accurate than the use of parts of the traditional cost systems in the literature. However, direct costs, overhead expenses, in turn, decreases the burden of increasingly sophisticated production facilities, a situation that led the researchers to look for the cost of traditional systems of alternative techniques. Variety cost management approaches for example Total quality management (TQM), just-in-time (JIT), benchmarking, kaizen costing, targeting cost, life cycle costs (LLC), activity-based costing (ABC) value engineering have been introduced. Management and cost applications have changed over the past decade and will continue to change. Modern cost systems can provide relevant and accurate cost information. These methods provide the decisions about customer, product and process improvement. The aim of study is to describe and explain the adoption and application of costing systems in SME. In this research, we examined processing of Al–Si–Fe (Al–11.7wt.%Si–1wt.%Fe) eutectic by directional solidification. The alloy was prepared by vacuum furnace and directionally solidified in Bridgman-type equipment. During the directional solidification process, the growth rates utilized varied from 8.25 m/s to 164.80 m/s. The Al–Si–Fe system showed an eutectic transformation, which resulted in the matrix Al, Si and Al5SiFe plate phases. The eutectic spacing between (λ_Si-λ_Si, λ_(Al_5 SiFe)-λ_(Al_5 SiFe)) was measured. Additionally, the microhardness, tensile strength, and electrical resistivity of the alloy were determined using directionally solidified samples. The effects of growth rates on microhardness, tensile strength, and electrical resistivity for directionally solidified Al–Si–Fe eutectic alloy were investigated, and the relationships between them were experimentally obtained. It was found that the microhardness, tensile strength, and electrical resistivity were affected by both eutectic spacing and the solidification parameter. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=directional%20solidification" title="directional solidification">directional solidification</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aluminum%20alloy" title=" aluminum alloy"> aluminum alloy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=microstructure" title=" microstructure"> microstructure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electrical%20properties" title=" electrical properties"> electrical properties</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tensile%20test" title=" tensile test"> tensile test</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hardness%20test" title=" hardness test"> hardness test</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/45109/the-effects-of-microstructure-of-directionally-solidified-al-si-fe-alloys-on-micro-hardness-tensile-strength-and-electrical-resistivity" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/45109.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">295</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">100</span> Development of High Temperature Mo-Si-B Based In-situ Composites</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Erhan%20Ayas">Erhan Ayas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Buse%20Katipo%C4%9Flu"> Buse Katipoğlu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Eda%20Metin"> Eda Metin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rifat%20Y%C4%B1lmaz"> Rifat Yılmaz</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The search for new materials has begun to be used even higher than the service temperature (~1150ᵒC) where nickel-based superalloys are currently used. This search should also meet the increasing demands for energy efficiency improvements. The materials studied for aerospace applications are expected to have good oxidation resistance. Mo-Si-B alloys, which have higher operating temperatures than nickel-based superalloys, are candidates for ultra-high temperature materials used in gas turbine and jet engines. Because the Moss and Mo₅SiB₂ (T2) phases exhibit high melting temperature, excellent high-temperature creep strength and oxidation resistance properties, however, low fracture toughness value at room temperature is a disadvantage for these materials, but this feature can be improved with optimum Moss phase and microstructure control. High-density value is also a problem for structural parts. For example, in turbine rotors, the higher the weight, the higher the centrifugal force, which reduces the creep life of the material. The density value of the nickel-based superalloys and the T2 phase, which is the Mo-Si-B alloy phase, is in the range of 8.6 - 9.2 g/cm³. But under these conditions, T2 phase Moss (density value 10.2 g/cm³), this value is above the density value of nickel-based superalloys. So, with some ceramic-based contributions, this value is enhanced by optimum values. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=molybdenum" title="molybdenum">molybdenum</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=composites" title=" composites"> composites</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=in-situ" title=" in-situ"> in-situ</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mmc" title=" mmc"> mmc</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/164861/development-of-high-temperature-mo-si-b-based-in-situ-composites" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/164861.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">66</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">99</span> Bipolar Reduction and Lithic Miniaturization: Experimental Results and Archaeological Implications</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Justin%20Pargeter">Justin Pargeter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Metin%20Eren"> Metin Eren</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Lithic miniaturization, the systematic production and use of small tools from small cores, was a consequential development in Pleistocene lithic technology. The bipolar reduction is an important, but often overlooked and misidentified, strategy for lithic miniaturization. This experiment addresses the role of axial bipolar reduction in processes of lithic miniaturization. The experiments answer two questions: what benefits does axial bipolar reduction provide, and can we distinguish axial bipolar reduction from freehand reduction? Our experiments demonstrate the numerous advantages of bipolar reduction in contexts of lithic miniaturization. Bipolar reduction produces more cutting edge per gram and is more economical than freehand reduction. Our cutting edge to mass values exceeds even those obtained with pressure blade production on high-quality obsidian. The experimental results show that bipolar reduction produces cutting edge quicker and is more efficient than freehand reduction. We show that bipolar reduction can be distinguished from freehand reduction with a high degree of confidence using the quantitative criteria in these experiments. These observations overturn long-held perceptions about bipolar reduction. We conclude by discussing the role of bipolar reduction in lithic miniaturization and Stone Age economics more broadly. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lithic%20miniaturization" title="lithic miniaturization">lithic miniaturization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bipolar%20reduction" title=" bipolar reduction"> bipolar reduction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=late%20Pleistocene" title=" late Pleistocene"> late Pleistocene</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Southern%20Africa" title=" Southern Africa"> Southern Africa</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/61442/bipolar-reduction-and-lithic-miniaturization-experimental-results-and-archaeological-implications" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/61442.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">719</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">98</span> Real-Time Mine Safety System with the Internet of Things</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=%C5%9Eakir%20Bing%C3%B6l">Şakir Bingöl</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bayram%20%C4%B0slamo%C4%9Flu"> Bayram İslamoğlu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ebubekir%20Furkan%20Tepeli"> Ebubekir Furkan Tepeli</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fatih%20Mehmet%20Karakule"> Fatih Mehmet Karakule</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fatih%20K%C3%BC%C3%A7%C3%BCk"> Fatih Küçük</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Merve%20Sena%20Arpac%C4%B1k"> Merve Sena Arpacık</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mustafa%20Taha%20Kabar"> Mustafa Taha Kabar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammet%20Metin%20Molak"> Muhammet Metin Molak</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Osman%20Emre%20Turan"> Osman Emre Turan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=%C3%96mer%20Faruk%20Yesir"> Ömer Faruk Yesir</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=S%C4%B1la%20%C4%B0nan%C4%B1r"> Sıla İnanır</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study introduces an IoT-based real-time safety system for mining, addressing global safety challenges. The basic problem in genome rearrangements is to compute the edit distance, i.e., the minimum number of operations needed to transform one genome into another. Unfortunately, unsigned genome rearrangement problem is NP-hard. In this study an improved ant colony optimization algorithm to approximate the edit distance is proposed. The main idea is to convert the unsigned permutation to signed permutation and evaluate the ants by using Kaplan algorithm. Two new operations are added to the standard ant colony algorithm: Replacing the worst ants by re-sampling the ants from a new probability distribution and applying the crossover operations on the best ants. The proposed algorithm is tested and compared with the improved breakpoint reversal sort algorithm by using three datasets. The results indicate that the proposed algorithm achieves better accuracy ratio than the previous methods. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
