L'emprise de cette fouille, réalisée sous la direction d'Hervé Morzadec, s'étend sur 100 m de long et 18 m de large. Néanmoins, les limites de cette nécropole ne sont pas clairement établies car elle s'étend probablement davantage notamment vers l'est. Cette nécropole comprend trente-huit tombes (3) dont vingt-cinq sont orientées nord-sud, huit sont orientées ouest-est et cinq sont orientées nord-est/sud-ouest. Aucun cas de recoupement entre les tombes n'a été mis en évidence. Les inhumations sont en mauvais état de conservation, les vestiges osseux sont même dans certains cas, absents. Vingt-trois inhumations, sur un total de trente-huit tombes, comportent du mobilier associé au défunt. Ce mobilier comprend de la céramique (4), du verre, des monnaies (5), des éléments de parure en bronze (6), en argent, en fer, en verre et en ambre ainsi que du petit mobilier en fer et en os. Quinze inhumations comportent du matériel en verre ; parmi elles treize possèdent un récipient en verre. Seulement trois tombes présentent des éléments de parure en verre (Sep. 10, 18 et 26) composés de près de 374 grains de perles. The main discovery of this preventive operation is a funerary enclosure surrounding a square central building, dating from the Roman Period. Four burials, two secondary cremation deposits and two inhumations of adult and immature individuals, Gallia, 76-1, 2019, p. 227-254 UN MONUMENT FUNÉRAIRE DU HAUT-EMPIRE AUX CONFINS DE LA CITÉ DES CARNUTES À BOINVILLE-EN-MANTOIS ancienne remonte au début du Mésolithique et consiste en une fosse abritant de nombreuses pièces d'industrie microlithique. La suivante peut être rattachée au Néolithique moyen II : il s'agit principalement d'un ensemble de fosses situées en marge d'une installation certainement plus importante, localisée plus haut dans la pente, vers le sud, dont le mobilier a été amplement dispersé par un phénomène de colluvionnement guidé par un vallon. Quelques structures datables de la transition entre le premier et le second âge du Fer ont été identifiées dans l'angle sud-ouest de l'emprise ; elles appartiennent probablement à un site se développant dans cette même direction. Enfin, pour la période la mieux représentée-l'époque romaine-, les découvertes se répartissent en deux secteurs : l'un au nord est plutôt centré sur des activités agricoles, voire artisanales et domestiques ; l'autre au sud, interprété comme un lieu de culte lors du diagnostic, s'est finalement révélé être à vocation funéraire. À la période romaine, le site de Boinville-en-Mantois se trouve aux confins de la cité des Carnutes, l'une des plus grandes de Gaule Lyonnaise, à la frontière avec celles des Parisii, des Véliocasses, et des Aulerques Éburovices. Il s'inscrit au sein du plateau du Mantois, qui dispose d'un fort potentiel agricole en raison de sa couverture limoneuse offrant une importante épaisseur de terres cultivables, dont l'exploitation remonte au moins à la Protohistoire (Reboul 2004). Au Haut-Empire, le secteur plus restreint compris entre la Seine au nord, la Mauldre à l'est et la Vaucouleurs à l'ouest est probablement le plus densément occupé du département des Yvelines, au vu du nombre d'agglomérations secondaires connues, qui ont ellesmêmes entraîné la création de nombreux sites périphériques. « Tout le plateau entre Épône et Septeuil est ainsi littéralement couvert de sites situés dans l'orbite de ces deux bourgades ainsi que dans celle d'Arnouville-lès-Mantes » (Barat 2007, p. 68). De très nombreux indices de sites ont été repérés depuis les années 1970 jusqu'au début des années 2010 grâce, entre autres, aux nombreuses prospections pédestres de Daniel Bricon, Jean-Michel Portier et Patrice Rabillé du Centre de recherches archéologiques de la région du Mantois (CRARM), et aux prospections aériennes de Yvan Barat, Gilles Billard, Pierre Kervella, Pascal Laforest, Marc Langlois, Guy Perrin pour le Service archéologique départemental des Yvelines (SADY). La parcelle explorée en 2016 est ainsi à moins de 2 km de deux villae repérées par ces prospections : la Butte d'Arnouville à Boinville-en-Mantois (Barat 2007, p. 116) (fig. 1, n o 1) et la Mare Robin à Arnouville-lès-Mantes (Barat 2007, p. 95-96) (fig. 1, n o 2). Elle est également à moins de 4 km de l'agglomération antique d'Arnouville-lès-Mantes, le Bois Rouvray (Barat 2007, p. 92-94). Enfin, des vestiges en lien direct avec ceux nous concernant pourraient avoir été repérés (Barat 2007, p. 117) (fig. 1, n o 3) : il s'agirait d'un petit établissement découvert en 1990 aux lieux-dits le Bois de la Planté/le Bois des Molières, au nord du poste EDF de Mézerolles. Cependant, le mobilier du Haut-Empire semble être minoritaire comparé à celui de l'Antiquité conduite par un groupement temporaire d'entreprises associant Paléotime et Éveha à l'hiver 2016, ont été prescrits par le Service régional de l'archéologie d'Île-de-France.
