Untie<MG3089> them and bring<MG71> them to Me. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/21-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>And if<MG1437> anyone<MG5100> says<MG3004> anything<MG5100> to you, you shall say<MG3004>, &#8216;The Lord<MG2962> needs<MG2192, 5532> them,&#8217; and he will send<MG649> them on<MG649> immediately<MG2117>.&#8221; <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/21-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>Now this<MG3778> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[a]</a></span>took<MG1096> place<MG1096> so<MG2443> that<MG2443> what<MG3588> was spoken<MG3004> through<MG1223> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>the prophet<MG4396> would be fulfilled<MG4137>: <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/21-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>&#8220;SAY<MG3004> TO THE DAUGHTER<MG2364> OF ZION<MG4622>, <t><p class="indent1">&#8216;BEHOLD<MG2400> YOUR KING<MG935> IS COMING<MG2064> TO YOU, <t><p class="indent1">HUMBLE<MG4239b>, AND MOUNTED<MG1910> ON A DONKEY<MG3688>, <t><p class="indent1">EVEN<MG2532> ON A COLT<MG4454>, THE FOAL<MG5207> OF A DONKEY<MG5268>.&#8217;&#8221; <A><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/21-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>The disciples<MG3101> went<MG4198> and did<MG4160> just<MG2531a> as<MG2531a> Jesus<MG2424> had instructed<MG4929> them, <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/21-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>and brought<MG71> the donkey<MG3688> and the colt<MG4454>, and laid<MG2007> their cloaks<MG2440> on them; and He sat<MG1940> on <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>the cloaks<MG2440>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/21-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>Most<MG4183> of the crowd<MG3793> spread<MG4766> their cloaks<MG2440> on the road<MG3598>, and others<MG243> were cutting<MG2875> branches<MG2798> from the trees<MG1186> and spreading<MG4766> them on the road<MG3598>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/21-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>Now<MG1161> the crowds<MG3793> going<MG4254> ahead<MG4254> of Him, and those<MG3588> who followed<MG190>, were shouting<MG2896>, <p class="indent1stline">&#8220;<span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>Hosanna<MG5614> to the Son<MG5207> of David<MG1160b>; <t><p class="indent1">BLESSED<MG2127> IS THE ONE WHO COMES<MG2064> IN THE NAME<MG3686> OF THE LORD<MG2962>; <t><p class="indent1"><span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>Hosanna<MG5614> in the highest<MG5310>!&#8221; <A><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/21-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>When He had entered<MG1525> Jerusalem<MG2414>, all<MG3956> the city<MG4172> was stirred<MG4579>, saying<MG3004>, &#8220;Who<MG5101> is this<MG3778>?&#8221; <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/21-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>And the crowds<MG3793> were saying<MG3004>, &#8220;This<MG3778> is Jesus<MG2424> the prophet<MG4396>, from Nazareth<MG3478> in Galilee<MG1056>.&#8221; <p class="hdg">Cleansing the Temple</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/21-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>And Jesus<MG2424> entered<MG1525> the temple<MG2413> <i>area</i> and drove<MG1544b> out<MG1544b> all<MG3956> those<MG3588> who were selling<MG4453> and buying<MG59> on the temple<MG2413> <i>grounds,</i> and He overturned<MG2690> the tables<MG5132> of the money<MG2855> changers<MG2855> and the seats<MG2515> of those<MG3588> who were selling<MG4453> doves<MG4058>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/21-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>And He *said<MG3004> to them, &#8220;It is written<MG1125>: &#8216;MY HOUSE<MG3624> WILL BE CALLED<MG2564> A HOUSE<MG3624> OF PRAYER<MG4335>&#8217;; but you are making<MG4160> it a DEN<MG4693> OF ROBBERS<MG3027>.&#8221; <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/21-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>And <i>those who were</i> blind<MG5185> and <i>those who</i> limped<MG5560> came<MG4334> to Him in the temple<MG2413> <i>area,</i> and He healed<MG2323> them. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/21-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>But when the chief<MG749> priests<MG749> and the scribes<MG1122> saw<MG3708> the wonderful<MG2297> things<MG2297> that He had done<MG4160>, and the children<MG3816> who were shouting<MG2896> in the temple<MG2413> <i>area,</i> &#8220;<span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>Hosanna<MG5614> to the Son<MG5207> of David<MG1160b>,&#8221; they became indignant<MG23>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/21-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>and they said<MG3004> to Him, &#8220;Do You hear<MG191> what<MG5101> these<MG3778> <i>children</i> are saying<MG3004>?&#8221; And Jesus<MG2424> *said<MG3004> to them, &#8220;Yes<MG3483a>. Have you never<MG3763> read<MG314>, &#8216;FROM THE MOUTHS<MG4750> OF INFANTS<MG3516> AND NURSING<MG2337> BABIES<MG2337> YOU HAVE PREPARED<MG2675> PRAISE<MG136> FOR YOURSELF&#8217;?&#8221; <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/21-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>And He left<MG2641> them and went<MG1831> out<MG1831> of the city<MG4172> to Bethany<MG963>, and spent<MG835> the<MG835> night<MG835> there<MG1563>. <p class="hdg">The Barren Fig Tree</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/21-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>Now<MG1161> in the early<MG4404> morning<MG4404>, when He was returning<MG1877> to the city<MG4172>, He became hungry<MG3983>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/21-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>And seeing<MG3708> a lone<MG1520> fig<MG4808> tree<MG4808> by the road<MG3598>, He came<MG2064> to it and found<MG2147> nothing<MG3762> on it except<MG1508> leaves<MG5444> alone<MG3440>; and He *said<MG3004> to it, &#8220;No<MG3756> longer<MG3371> shall there ever<MG1519, 165> be <i>any</i> fruit<MG2590> from you.&#8221; And at once<MG3916> the fig<MG4808> tree<MG4808> withered<MG3583>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/21-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>Seeing<MG3708> <i>this,</i> the disciples<MG3101> were<MG2296> amazed<MG2296> and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>asked<MG3004>, &#8220;How<MG4459> did the fig<MG4808> tree<MG4808> wither<MG3583> <i>all</i> at once<MG3916>?&#8221; <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/21-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>And Jesus<MG2424> answered<MG611> and said<MG3004> to them, &#8220;Truly<MG281> I say<MG3004> to you, if<MG1437> you have<MG2192> faith<MG4102> and do not doubt<MG1252>, you will not only<MG3440> do<MG4160> what<MG3588> <i>was done</i> to the fig<MG4808> tree<MG4808>, but even<MG2579> if<MG2579> you say<MG3004> to this<MG3778> mountain<MG3735>, &#8216;Be taken<MG142> up<MG142> and cast<MG906> into the sea<MG2281>,&#8217; it will happen<MG1096>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/21-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>And whatever<MG3745, 302> you ask<MG154> in prayer<MG4335>, believing<MG4100>, you will receive<MG2983> it all<MG3956>.&#8221; <p class="hdg">Authority Challenged</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/21-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>When He entered<MG2064> the temple<MG2413> <i>area,</i> the chief<MG749> priests<MG749> and the elders<MG4245> of the people<MG2992> came<MG4334> to Him while He was teaching<MG1321>, and said<MG3004>, &#8220;By what<MG4169> authority<MG1849> are You doing<MG4160> these<MG3778> things<MG3778>, and who<MG5101> gave<MG1325> You this<MG3778> authority<MG1849>?&#8221; <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/21-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>But Jesus<MG2424> responded<MG611> and said<MG3004> to them, &#8220;I will also<MG2532> ask<MG2065> you one<MG1520> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>question<MG3056>, which<MG3739>, if<MG1437> you tell<MG3004> Me, I will also<MG2532> tell<MG3004> you by what<MG4169> authority<MG1849> I do<MG4160> these<MG3778> things<MG3778>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/21-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>The baptism<MG908> of John<MG2491> was from what<MG4159> <i>source:</i> from heaven<MG3772> or<MG2228> from men<MG444>?&#8221; And they <i>began</i> considering<MG1260> <i>the implications</i> among<MG1722> themselves<MG1438>, saying<MG3004>, &#8220;If<MG1437> we say<MG3004>, &#8216;From heaven<MG3772>,&#8217; He will say<MG3004> to us, &#8216;Then<MG3767> why<MG1223, 5101> did you not believe<MG4100> him?&#8217; <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/21-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>But if<MG1437> we say<MG3004>, &#8216;From men<MG444>,&#8217; we fear<MG5399> the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>people<MG3793>; for they all<MG3956> regard<MG2192> John<MG2491> as a prophet<MG4396>.&#8221; <span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/21-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>And answering<MG611> Jesus<MG2424>, they said<MG3004>, &#8220;We do not know<MG3609a>.&#8221; He also<MG2532> said<MG5346> to them, &#8220;Neither<MG3761> am I telling<MG3004> you by what<MG4169> authority<MG1849> I do<MG4160> these<MG3778> things<MG3778>. <p class="hdg">Parable of Two Sons</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/21-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>&#8220;But what<MG5101> do you think<MG1380>?
