individuals, which could produce diploid gametes, can be used for production of 100% triploid fish. Therefore, the aim of this study was to develop a tetraploidization protocol for A. altiparanae. We tested the effect of heat shock (40 °C; 2 min) at 16, 18, 20, 22, 24 and 26 minutes post fertilization (mpf). Untreated eggs were used as control. After hatching, ploidy status of the larvae was checked by flow cytometry. No difference were observed for the hatching rate between all treatments (P = 0.5974). However, we observed an increase in the larval abnormality in the heat shock treatments, in special at 22 (82.17 ± 6.66%) 24 (78.31 ±7.28%) and 26 mpf (79.01 ± 7.85%) in comparison with the control group (12.87 ± 4.46%). No tetraploid was observed at 16 and 18 mpf. The higher number of tetraploid individuals (52/55) was observed at 26 mpf. Our results showed that high percentages of tetraploids are obtained by heat shock (40°C; 2min) at 26 mpf, which could enable the mass production of triploid individuals in A. altiparanae. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=chromosome%20manipulation" title="chromosome manipulation">chromosome manipulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=polyploidy" title=" polyploidy"> polyploidy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=flow%20cytometry" title=" flow cytometry"> flow cytometry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tetraploidization" title=" tetraploidization"> tetraploidization</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/70446/tetraploid-induction-in-the-yellowtail-tetra-astyanax-altiparanae" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/70446.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">333</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">242</span> Volatility Transmission among European Bank CDS</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aida%20Alemany">Aida Alemany</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laura%20Ballester"> Laura Ballester</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ana%20Gonz%C3%A1lez-Urteaga"> Ana González-Urteaga</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> From 2007 subprime crisis to the recent Eurozone debt crisis the European banking industry has experienced a terrible financial instability situation with increasing levels of CDS spreads (used as a proxy of credit risk). This paper investigates whether volatility transmission channels in European banking markets have changed after three significant crises’ events during the period January 2006 to March 2013. The global financial crisis is characterized by a unidirectional volatility shocks spillovers effect in credit risk from inside to outside the Eurozone. By contrast, the Eurozone debt crisis is revealed to be local in nature with the euro as the key element suggesting a market fragmentation between distressed peripheral and non-distressed core Eurozone countries, whereas retaining the local currency have acted as a firewall. With these findings we are able to shed light on the impact of the different crises on the European banking credit risk dynamics. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CDS%20spreads" title="CDS spreads">CDS spreads</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=credit%20risk" title=" credit risk"> credit risk</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=volatility%20spillovers" title=" volatility spillovers"> volatility spillovers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=financial%20crisis" title=" financial crisis"> financial crisis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/21226/volatility-transmission-among-european-bank-cds" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/21226.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">468</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">241</span> A Randomised Controlled Trial and Process Evaluation of the Lifestart Parenting Programme</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sharon%20Millen">Sharon Millen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sarah%20Miller"> Sarah Miller</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laura%20Dunne"> Laura Dunne</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Clare%20McGeady"> Clare McGeady</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laura%20Neeson"> Laura Neeson</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper presents the findings from a randomised controlled trial (RCT) and process evaluation of the Lifestart parenting programme. Lifestart is a structured child-centred programme of information and practical activity for parents of children aged from birth to five years of age. It is delivered to parents in their own homes by trained, paid family visitors and it is offered to parents regardless of their social, economic or other circumstances. The RCT evaluated the effectiveness of the programme and the process evaluation documented programme delivery and included a qualitative exploration of parent and child outcomes. 424 parents and children participated in the RCT: 216 in the intervention group and 208 in the control group across the island of Ireland. Parent outcomes included: parental knowledge of child development, parental efficacy, stress, social support, parenting skills and embeddedness in the community. Child outcomes included cognitive, language and motor development and social-emotional and behavioural development. Both groups were tested at baseline (when children were less than 1 year old), mid-point (aged 3) and at post-test (aged 5). Data were collected during a home visit, which took two hours. The process evaluation consisted of interviews with parents (n=16 at baseline and end-point), and focus groups with Lifestart Coordinators (n=9) and Family Visitors (n=24). Quantitative findings from the RCT indicated that, compared to the control group, parents who received the Lifestart programme reported reduced parenting-related stress, increased knowledge of their child’s development, and improved confidence in their parenting role. These changes were statistically significant and consistent with the hypothesised pathway of change depicted in the logic model. There was no evidence of any change in parents’ embeddedness in the community. Although four of the five child outcomes showed small positive change for children who took part in the programme, these were not statistically significant and there is no evidence that the programme improves child cognitive and non-cognitive skills by immediate post-test. The qualitative process evaluation highlighted important challenges related to conducting trials of this magnitude and design in the general population. Parents reported that a key incentive to take part in study was receiving feedback from the developmental assessment, which formed part of the data collection. This highlights the potential importance of appropriate incentives in relation to recruitment and retention of participants. The interviews with intervention parents indicated that one of the first changes they experienced as a result of the Lifestart programme was increased knowledge and confidence in their parenting ability. The outcomes and pathways perceived by parents and described in the interviews are also consistent with the findings of the RCT and the theory of change underpinning the programme. This hypothesises that improvement in parental outcomes, arising as a consequence of the programme, mediate the change in child outcomes. Parents receiving the Lifestart programme reported great satisfaction with and commitment to the programme, with the role of the Family Visitor being identified as one of the key components of the programme. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=parent-child%20relationship" title="parent-child relationship">parent-child relationship</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=parental%20self-efficacy" title=" parental self-efficacy"> parental self-efficacy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=parental%20stress" title=" parental stress"> parental stress</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=school%20readiness" title=" school readiness"> school readiness</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/35062/a-randomised-controlled-trial-and-process-evaluation-of-the-lifestart-parenting-programme" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/35062.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">444</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">240</span> Causes of Financial Instability and Banking Crises: A Comparative Study of Analytical Approaches</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laura%20Josabeth%20Oros-Avil%C3%A9s">Laura Josabeth Oros-Avilés</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Josefina%20Le%C3%B3n-Le%C3%B3n"> Josefina León-León</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In recent decades, the concern of the monetary authorities has increased because of the instability of the financial sector caused by the crash of speculative bubbles. In fact, the crash of "housing bubble" in U.S. (2007-2008) led the latest global crisis. The aim of paper is to analyze the features and causes of the financial and banking crisis from an historical view. In particular, in this research, a comparative study of some analytical approaches about economic and financial history is discussed. In addition, the role of monetary policy of central banks in managing financial crises, from its origins to today, is analyzed. According to the studied approaches, two types of factors that cause the financial instability were identified: subjective and objectives. In the research, these factors are deeply discussed, in order to noting the agreements and disagreement between the authors. Specially, it is worth noting that all of them recognized that the credit boom and the financial deregulation are the main causes of financial crises. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=asset%20prices" title="asset prices">asset prices</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=banking%20crises" title=" banking crises"> banking crises</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=financial%20bubble" title=" financial bubble"> financial bubble</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=financial%20instability" title=" financial instability"> financial instability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=monetary%20policy" title=" monetary policy"> monetary policy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/56611/causes-of-financial-instability-and-banking-crises-a-comparative-study-of-analytical-approaches" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/56611.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">329</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">239</span> Software Verification of Systematic Resampling for Optimization of Particle Filters</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Osiris%20Terry">Osiris Terry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kenneth%20Hopkinson"> Kenneth Hopkinson</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laura%20Humphrey"> Laura Humphrey</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Systematic resampling is the most popularly used resampling method in particle filters. This paper seeks to further the understanding of systematic resampling by defining a formula made up of variables from the sampling equation and the particle weights. The formula is then verified via SPARK, a software verification language. The verified systematic resampling formula states that the minimum/maximum number of possible samples taken of a particle is equal to the floor/ceiling value of particle weight divided by the sampling interval, respectively. This allows for the creation of a randomness spectrum that each resampling method can fall within. Methods on the lower end, e.g., systematic resampling, have less randomness and, thus, are quicker to reach an estimate. Although lower randomness allows for error by having a larger bias towards the size of the weight, having this bias creates vulnerabilities to the noise in the environment, e.g., jamming. Conclusively, this is the first step in characterizing each resampling method. This will allow target-tracking engineers to pick the best resampling method for their environment instead of choosing the most popularly used one. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SPARK" title="SPARK">SPARK</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=software%20verification" title=" software verification"> software verification</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=resampling" title=" resampling"> resampling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=systematic%20resampling" title=" systematic resampling"> systematic resampling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=particle%20filter" title=" particle filter"> particle filter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tracking" title=" tracking"> tracking</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/175173/software-verification-of-systematic-resampling-for-optimization-of-particle-filters" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/175173.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">84</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">238</span> Performance Improvement of Piston Engine in Aeronautics by Means of Additive Manufacturing Technologies</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=G.%20Andreutti">G. The amount of CO₂ released by an aircraft is associated with the amount of fuel burned, so the improvement of engine thermo-mechanical efficiency and specific fuel consumption is a significant technological driver for aviation. Moreover, with the prospect that avgas will be phased out, an engine able to use more available and cheaper fuels is an evident advantage. An advanced aeronautical Diesel engine, because of its high efficiency and ability to use widely available and low-cost jet and diesel fuels, is a promising solution to achieve a more fuel-efficient aircraft. On the other hand, a Diesel engine has generally a higher overall weight, if compared with a gasoline one of same power performances. Fixing the MTOW, Max Take-Off Weight, and the operational payload, this extra-weight reduces the aircraft fuel fraction, partially vinifying the associated benefits. Therefore, an effort in weight saving manufacturing technologies is likely desirable. In this work, in order to achieve the mentioned goals, innovative Electron Beam Melting – EBM, Additive Manufacturing – AM technologies were applied to a two-stroke, common rail, GF56 Diesel engine, developed by the CMD Company for aeronautic applications. For this purpose, a consortium of academic, research and industrial partners, including CMD Company, Italian Aerospace Research Centre – CIRA, University of Naples Federico II and the University of Salerno carried out a technological project, funded by the Italian Minister of Education and Research – MIUR. The project aimed to optimize the baseline engine in order to improve its performance and increase its airworthiness features. This project was focused on the definition, design, development, and application of enabling technologies for performance improvement of GF56. Weight saving of this engine was pursued through the application of EBM-AM technologies and in particular using Arcam AB A2X machine, available at CIRA. The 3D printer processes titanium alloy micro-powders and it was employed to realize new connecting rods of the GF56 engine with an additive-oriented design approach. After a preliminary investigation of EBM process parameters and a thermo-mechanical characterization of titanium alloy samples, additive manufactured, innovative connecting rods were fabricated. These engine elements were structurally verified, topologically optimized, 3D printed and suitably post-processed. Finally, the overall performance improvement, on a typical General Aviation aircraft, was estimated, substituting the conventional engine with the optimized GF56 propulsion system. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aeronautic%20propulsion" title="aeronautic propulsion">aeronautic propulsion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=additive%20manufacturing" title=" additive manufacturing"> additive manufacturing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=performance%20improvement" title=" performance improvement"> performance improvement</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=weight%20saving" title=" weight saving"> weight saving</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=piston%20engine" title=" piston engine"> piston engine</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95436/performance-improvement-of-piston-engine-in-aeronautics-by-means-of-additive-manufacturing-technologies" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95436.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">143</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">237</span> Magnetic Properties and Cytotoxicity of Ga-Mn Magnetic Ferrites Synthesized by the Citrate Sol-Gel Method</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Javier%20S%C3%A1nchez">Javier Sánchez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laura%20Elena%20De%20Le%C3%B3n%20Prado"> Laura Elena De León Prado</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dora%20Alicia%20Cort%C3%A9s%20Hern%C3%A1ndez"> Dora Alicia Cortés Hernández</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Magnetic spinel ferrites are materials that possess size, magnetic properties and heating ability adequate for their potential use in biomedical applications. According to the results obtained, these synthesized nanoparticles can be potentially used as thermoseeds for hyperthermia therapy. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=manganese-gallium%20ferrite" title="manganese-gallium ferrite">manganese-gallium ferrite</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=magnetic%20hyperthermia" title=" magnetic hyperthermia"> magnetic hyperthermia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heating%20ability" title=" heating ability"> heating ability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cytotoxicity" title=" cytotoxicity"> cytotoxicity</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/65209/magnetic-properties-and-cytotoxicity-of-ga-mn-magnetic-ferrites-synthesized-by-the-citrate-sol-gel-method" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/65209.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">393</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">236</span> Role of GM1 in the Interaction between Amyloid Prefibrillar Oligomers of Salmon Calcitonin and Model Membranes</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cristiano%20Giordani">Cristiano Giordani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marco%20Diociaiuti"> Marco Diociaiuti</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cecilia%20Bombelli"> Cecilia Bombelli</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laura%20Zanetti-Polzi"> Laura Zanetti-Polzi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marcello%20Belfiore"> Marcello Belfiore</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Raoul%20Fioravanti"> Raoul Fioravanti</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gianfranco%20Macchia"> Gianfranco Macchia</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> We investigated induced functional effects by evaluating Ca2+-influx in liposomes and cell viability in HT22-DIFF neurons. Only solutions rich in unstructured Prefibrillar-Oligomers (PFOs) were able, in the presence of Monosialoganglioside-GM1 (GM1), to induce Ca2+-influx and were also neurotoxic, suggesting a correlation between the two phenomena. Thus, in the presence of GM1, we investigated the protein conformation and liposome modification due to the interaction. Circular Dichroism showed that GM1 fostered the formation of β-structures and Energy Filtered-Transmission Electron Microscopy that PFOs formed “amyloid-channels” as reported for Aβ. We speculate that electrostatic forces occurring between the positive PFOs and negative GM1 drive the initial binding, while the hydrophobic profile of the flexible PFO is responsible for the subsequent pore formation. Conversely, the rigid β-structured mature/fibers (MFs) and proto-fibers (PFs) were unable to induce membrane damage and Ca2+- influx. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=amyloid%20proteins" title="amyloid proteins">amyloid proteins</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=neurotoxicity" title=" neurotoxicity"> neurotoxicity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lipid-rafts" title=" lipid-rafts"> lipid-rafts</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=GM1" title=" GM1"> GM1</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/118119/role-of-gm1-in-the-interaction-between-amyloid-prefibrillar-oligomers-of-salmon-calcitonin-and-model-membranes" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/118119.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">189</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">235</span> Biomedical Countermeasures to Category a Biological Agents</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laura%20Cochrane">Laura Cochrane</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has established three categories of biological agents based on their ease of spread and the severity of the disease they cause. Category A biological agents are the highest priority because of their high degree of morbidity and mortality, ease of dissemination, the potential to cause social disruption and panic, special requirements for public health preparedness, and past use as a biological weapon. Despite the threat of Category A biological agents, opportunities for medical intervention exist. This work summarizes public information, consolidated and reviewed across the situational usefulness and disease awareness to offer discussion to three specific Category A agents: anthrax (Bacillus anthracis), botulism (Clostridium botulinum toxin), and smallpox (variola major), and provides an overview on the management of medical countermeasures available to treat these three (3) different types of pathogens. Scammers often use persuasion techniques to influence email users to interact with malicious content. This study will use eye-tracking equipment to analyze how participants respond to and process Cialdini’s persuasion principles when utilized within phishing emails. Eye tracking provides insights into what is happening on the subconscious level of the brain that the participant may not be aware of. An experiment is conducted to track participant eye movements, whilst interacting with and then filing a series of persuasive emails delivered at random. Eye tracking metrics will be analyzed in relation to whether a malicious email has been identified as phishing (filed as ‘suspicious’) or not phishing (filed in any other folder). This will help determine the most influential persuasion techniques and those 'areas of interest' within an email that require intervention. The results will aid further research on how to reduce the effects of persuasion on human decision-making when interacting with phishing emails. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cybersecurity" title="cybersecurity">cybersecurity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=human-centric" title=" human-centric"> human-centric</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=phishing" title=" phishing"> phishing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=psychology" title=" psychology"> psychology</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/178193/sing-eye-tracking-to-measure-the-impact-of-persuasion-principles-in-phishing-emails" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/178193.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">83</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">231</span> Processes of Identities Formation and Transformation among Professional Skilled Mexican Migrants in the United States</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20Laura%20Vazquez%20Maggio">M. Following the idea that identities are never singular, multifaceted and have a necessarily processual character, the authors specifically analyze three dimensions of the identity of qualified Mexican migrants in the US and the interplay between them. Drawing on semi-structured interviews with skilled Mexican middle-class migrants in the US, the paper explores how skilled Mexican migrants preserve their ethno-national identity (their ‘Mexicanness’) in reaction to a hostile socio-political reception context in the US. It further shows how these migrants recreate their class identity and show tendencies to distance themselves from what they perceive as lower-class Mexican migrants and the dominant popular Mexican and Latin-American cultural expressions. In a final step, it examines how the lived experience of migration itself impacts the migrants’ identities, their concept of self and feelings/modes of being and belonging. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ethno-national%20identity" title="ethno-national identity">ethno-national identity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=middle%20class%20identity" title=" middle class identity"> middle class identity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=middle-class%20migration" title=" middle-class migration"> middle-class migration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=migrants%E2%80%99%20identity" title=" migrants’ identity"> migrants’ identity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=skilled%20migration" title=" skilled migration"> skilled migration</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/123405/processes-of-identities-formation-and-transformation-among-professional-skilled-mexican-migrants-in-the-united-states" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/123405.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">143</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">230</span> The Role of ChatGPT in Enhancing ENT Surgical Training</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laura%20Brennan">Laura Brennan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ram%20Balakumar"> Ram Balakumar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> ChatGPT has been developed by Open AI (Nov 2022) as a powerful artificial intelligence (AI) language model which has been designed to produce human-like text from user written prompts. To gain the most from the system, user written prompts must give context specific information. This article aims to give guidance on how to optimise the ChatGPT system in the context of education for otolaryngology. Otolaryngology is a specialist field which sees little time dedicated to providing education to both medical students and doctors. Additionally, otolaryngology trainees have seen a reduction in learning opportunities since the COVID-19 pandemic. In this article we look at these various barriers to medical education in Otolaryngology training and suggest ways that ChatGPT can overcome them and assist in simulation-based training. Examples provide how this can be achieved using the Authors’ experience to further highlight the practicalities. What this article has found is that while ChatGPT cannot replace traditional mentorship and practical surgical experience, it can serve as an invaluable supplementary resource to simulation based medical education in Otolaryngology. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=artificial%20intelligence" title="artificial intelligence">artificial intelligence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=otolaryngology" title=" otolaryngology"> otolaryngology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=surgical%20training" title=" surgical training"> surgical training</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=medical%20education" title=" medical education"> medical education</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/166069/the-role-of-chatgpt-in-enhancing-ent-surgical-training" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/166069.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">159</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">229</span> Indirect Relationship between Perfectionism and Depression through Self-Silencing and Guilt: A Cross-Cultural Study</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Elham%20Davoodi">Elham Davoodi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kylie%20King"> Kylie King</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laura%20Jobson"> Laura Jobson</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Depression is one of the most common mental health disorders. Self-silencing theory adopts a socio-cultural lens to examine the development and maintenance of depression. Self-silencing can be a vulnerability factor in depression, and personality vulnerabilities (e.g., perfectionism) and moral emotions (e.g., guilt) are strongly related to self-silencing and depression. Yet, the relationships between all four variables among different cultural groups are not clear. We aimed to address this gap by examining whether perfectionism and depression are related indirectly through self-silencing and guilt and whether cultural group moderates these associations. Participants (N=288) from either European Australian or Iranian Australian cultural backgrounds completed an online survey assessing self-silencing, guilt, perfectionism, and depression. First, we found an indirect relationship between perfectionism and depression through self-silencing. Second, using a serial mediation model, we found an indirect association between perfectionism and depression through self-silencing and guilt. There was no evidence that cultural groups moderated these indirect relationships. Our findings leave an important question for future longitudinal studies to answer; that is, whether the association between self-silencing and depression is oversimplified and whether moral emotions in this relationship have been overlooked. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=perfectionism" title="perfectionism">perfectionism</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=depression" title=" depression"> depression</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=self-silencing" title=" self-silencing"> self-silencing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=culture" title=" culture"> culture</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=guilt" title=" guilt"> guilt</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/193034/indirect-relationship-between-perfectionism-and-depression-through-self-silencing-and-guilt-a-cross-cultural-study" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/193034.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">8</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">228</span> Revisiting the Donning and Doffing Procedure: Ensuring a Coordinated Practice</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Deanna%20Ruano-Meas">Deanna Ruano-Meas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laura%20Shenkman"> Laura Shenkman</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Variances are seen in the way healthcare personnel (HCP) don and doff PPE risking contamination to self and others. Method: The statistical population was comprised of students at Shiraz University of Medical Science during the academic years 2013 to 2014. Using random sampling, 133 married students (50 males and 83 females) were selected. The commitment condition of this studied group was assessed using Adam and Jones' (1999) Marital Commitment Dimensions Scale (DCI), and self-expansion was measured using Aron and Lewandowski's (2002) Self-Expansion Questionnaire. Simple regression analyses investigated commitment precedence via self-expansion. Results: The data revealed a positive correlation between total commitment (r=0.35, p < 0.01), the subscales of commitment to the spouse (r=0.43, p < 0.01), and commitment to marriage (r=0.31, p < 0.01). Regression analyses indicated that perceived self-expansion positively correlated with commitment to marital relationships in married students. The findings suggest that an increased possibility of self-expansion in a marital relationship corresponds with heightened commitment. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=commitment%20to%20marital%20relationship" title="commitment to marital relationship">commitment to marital relationship</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=married%20students" title=" married students"> married students</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=relationship%20dynamics" title=" relationship dynamics"> relationship dynamics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=self-expansion" title=" self-expansion"> self-expansion</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/177957/an-investigation-of-commitment-to-marital-relationship-precedents-through-self-expansion-in-students-from-the-medical-science-university-of-iran" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/177957.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">67</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">226</span> PTSD in Peacekeepers: A Systematic Review</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laura%20Rodrigues%20Carmona">Laura Rodrigues Carmona</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maria%20Jos%C3%A9%20Chambel"> Maria José Chambel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=V%C3%A2nia%20Sofia%20Carvalho"> Vânia Sofia Carvalho</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: In peacekeeping operations, military personnel are often exposed to the same traumatic stress factors found during conventional war and may also be subject to the physical risks and psychological stressors associated with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Objectives: To discuss the prevalence of PTSD among peacekeepers as well as the risks of and protective factors against this disorder and its comorbidities and/or consequences. Methods: A systematic literature search was performed with relevant keywords, and 53 articles were identified for this review. Results and conclusions: Military personnel deployed in peacekeeping operations have a higher prevalence of PTSD than nonmilitary personnel, a prevalence similar to that of military personnel deployed in war situations. Concerning the salient risk factors, the contextual factors are highlighted, and in regard to the protective factors, the individual factors are highlighted. This study thus demonstrates that there are factors in which the role of the military is essential, via both its selection and monitoring of peacekeepers during and after their deployment, to protect deployed personnel’s mental health. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=peacekeepers" title="peacekeepers">peacekeepers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=peacekeeping" title=" peacekeeping"> peacekeeping</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=military" title=" military"> military</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PTSD" title=" PTSD"> PTSD</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=post-traumatic%20stress%20disorder" title=" post-traumatic stress disorder"> post-traumatic stress disorder</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=posttraumatic%20stress%20disorder" title=" posttraumatic stress disorder"> posttraumatic stress disorder</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/171904/ptsd-in-peacekeepers-a-systematic-review" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/171904.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">86</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">225</span> Biomarkers for Rectal Adenocarcinoma Identified by Lipidomic and Bioinformatic</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Patricia%20O.%20Carvalho">Patricia O. This study set out to evaluate lipoperoxidation biomarkers, and lipidomic signature by gas chromatography (GC) and electrospray ionization-qToF-mass spectrometry (ESI-qToF-MS) combined with multivariate data analysis in plasma from 23 RAC patients (early- or advanced-stages cancer) and 18 healthy controls. The most abundant ions identified in the RAC patients were those of phosphatidylcholine (PC) and phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) while those of lisophosphatidylcholine (LPC), identified as LPC (16:1), LPC (18:1) and LPC (18:2), were down-regulated. LPC plasmalogen containing palmitoleic acid (LPC (P-16:1)), with highest VIP score, showed a low tendency in the cancer patients. Malondialdehyde plasma levels were higher in patients with advanced cancer (III/IV stages) than in the early stages groups and the healthy group (p<0.05). No differences in F2-isoprostane levels were observed between these groups. This study shows that the reduction in plasma levels of LPC plasmalogens associated to an increase in MDA levels may indicate increased oxidative stress in these patients and identify the metabolite LPC (P-16:1) as new biomarkers for RAC. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biomarkers" title="biomarkers">biomarkers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lipidomic" title=" lipidomic"> lipidomic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=plasmalogen" title=" plasmalogen"> plasmalogen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rectal%20adenocarcinoma" title=" rectal adenocarcinoma"> rectal adenocarcinoma</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/78907/biomarkers-for-rectal-adenocarcinoma-identified-by-lipidomic-and-bioinformatic" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/78907.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">230</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">224</span> HPLC-UV Screening of Legal (Caffeine and Yohimbine) and Illegal (Ephedrine and Sibutramine) Substances from Weight Loss Dietary Supplements for Athletes</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amelia%20Tero-Vescan">Amelia Tero-Vescan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Camil-Eugen%20Vari"> Camil-Eugen Vari</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laura%20Ciulea"> Laura Ciulea</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cristina%20Filip"> Cristina Filip</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Silvia%20Imre"> Silvia Imre</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> A HPLC –UV method for the identification of ephedrine (EPH), sibutramine (SB), yohimbine (Y) and caffeine (CF) was developed. Separation was performed on a Kromasil 100-RP8, 150 mm x 4.6 mm, 5 mm column equipped with a precolumn Kromasil RP 8. Mobile phase was a gradient of 80-35 % sodium dihydrogen phosphate pH=5 with NH4OH and acetonitrile over 15 minutes time of analysis. Based on the responses of 113 athletes about dietary supplements (DS) consumed for "fat burning" and weight loss which have a legal status in Romania, 28 supplements have been selected and investigated for their content in CF, Y, legal substances, and SB, EPH (prohibited substances in DS). The method allows quantitative determination of the four substances in a short analysis time and with minimum cost. The presence of SB and EPH in the analyzed DS was not detected while the content in CF and Y considering the dosage recommended by the manufacturer does not affect the health of the consumers. DS labeling (plant extracts with CF and Y content) allows manufacturers to avoid declaring correct and exact amounts per pharmaceutical form (pure CF or equivalent and Y, respectively). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dietary%20supplements" title="dietary supplements">dietary supplements</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sibutramine" title=" sibutramine"> sibutramine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ephedrine" title=" ephedrine"> ephedrine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=yohimbine" title=" yohimbine"> yohimbine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=caffeine" title=" caffeine"> caffeine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=HPLC" title=" HPLC"> HPLC</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/2518/hplc-uv-screening-of-legal-caffeine-and-yohimbine-and-illegal-ephedrine-and-sibutramine-substances-from-weight-loss-dietary-supplements-for-athletes" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/2518.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">442</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">223</span> Potential of Mineral Composition Reconstruction for Monitoring the Performance of an Iron Ore Concentration Plant</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maryam%20Sadeghi">Maryam Sadeghi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Claude%20Bazin"> Claude Bazin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Daniel%20Hodouin"> Daniel Hodouin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laura%20Perez%20Barnuevo"> Laura Perez Barnuevo</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The performance of a separation process is usually evaluated using performance indices calculated from elemental assays readily available from the chemical analysis laboratory. However, the separation process performance is essentially related to the properties of the minerals that carry the elements and not those of the elements. Since elements or metals can be carried by valuable and gangue minerals in the ore and that each mineral responds differently to a mineral processing method, the use of only elemental assays could lead to erroneous or uncertain conclusions on the process performance. This paper discusses the advantages of using performance indices calculated from minerals content, such as minerals recovery, for process performance assessments. A method is presented that uses elemental assays to estimate the minerals content of the solids in various process streams. The method combines the stoichiometric composition of the minerals and constraints of mass conservation for the minerals through the concentration process to estimate the minerals content from elemental assays. The advantage of assessing a concentration process using mineral based performance indices is illustrated for an iron ore concentration circuit. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=data%20reconciliation" title="data reconciliation">data reconciliation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=iron%20ore%20concentration" title=" iron ore concentration"> iron ore concentration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mineral%20composition" title=" mineral composition"> mineral composition</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=process%20performance%20assessment" title=" process performance assessment"> process performance assessment</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/93580/potential-of-mineral-composition-reconstruction-for-monitoring-the-performance-of-an-iron-ore-concentration-plant" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/93580.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">219</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">222</span> The Links between Cardiovascular Risk and Psychological Wellbeing in Elderly</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laura%20Sapranaviciute-Zabazlajeva">Laura Sapranaviciute-Zabazlajeva</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdonas%20Tamosiunas"> Abdonas Tamosiunas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dalia%20Luksiene"> Dalia Luksiene</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dalia%20Virviciute"> Dalia Virviciute</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The cardiovascular diseases (CVD) is the leading cause of death in the EU, especially in the middle aged and elderly population. Psychological wellbeing (PWB) has been linked with better cardiovascular health and survival in the elderly. The aim of the study is to evaluate associations between CVD risk and PWB in middle-aged and elderly population. 10,940 middle aged and older Lithuanians of age 45-74 years, were invited to participate in the study. A study sample was a random and stratified by gender and age. In 2006-2008 7,087 responders participated in the survey, so the response rate was 64.8%. A follow-up study was conducted from 2006 till 2015. New CVD cases and deaths from CVD were evaluated using the Kaunas population-based CVD register and death register of Kaunas. Study results revealed that good PWB predicts longer life in female participants (Log Rank = 13.7, p &lt; 0.001). In the fully adjusted model for socio-demographic, social and CVD risk factors, hazard ratio for CVD mortality risk was lower amongst women with good PWB (HR = 0.28, 95% CI 0.11-0.72), but not significantly for men. Our study concludes, that lower CVD mortality rates is being associated with better PWB in female aged 45-74 years. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=psychological%20well-being" title="psychological well-being">psychological well-being</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cardiovascular%20disease" title=" cardiovascular disease"> cardiovascular disease</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=elderly" title=" elderly"> elderly</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=survival" title=" survival"> survival</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/52070/the-links-between-cardiovascular-risk-and-psychological-wellbeing-in-elderly" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/52070.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">361</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">221</span> SLAMF5 Regulates Myeloid Cells Activation in the Eae Model</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laura%20Bellassen">Laura Bellassen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Idit%20Shachar"> Idit Shachar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic neurological disorder characterized by demyelination of the central nervous system (CNS), leading to a wide range of physical and cognitive impairments. Myeloid cells in the CNS, such microglia and border associated macrophage cells, participate in the neuroinflammation in MS. Activation of those cells in MS contributes to the inflammatory response in the CNS and recruitment of immune cells in the this compartment. SLAMF5 is a cell surface receptor that functions as a homophilic adhesion molecule, whose signaling can activate or inhibit leukocyte function. In the current study we followed the expression and function of SLAMF5 in myeloid cells in the CNS and in the periphery in the murine model for MS, the experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis model (EAE). Our results show that SLAMF5 deficiency or blocking decreases the expression of activation molecules and costimulatory molecules such as MHCII and CD80, resulting in delayed onset and reduced progression of the disease. Moreover, blocking SLAMF5 in peripheral monocytes derived from MS patients and iPSC-derived microglia cells, controls the expression of HLA-DR and CD80. Thus, SLAMF5 is a regulator of myeloid cells function and can serve as a therapeutic target in autoimmune disorders as Multiple Sclerosis. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multiple%20sclerosis" title="multiple sclerosis">multiple sclerosis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=EAE%20model" title=" EAE model"> EAE model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=myeloid%20cells" title=" myeloid cells"> myeloid cells</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=new%20antibody" title=" new antibody"> new antibody</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=neuroimmunology" title=" neuroimmunology"> neuroimmunology</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/182133/slamf5-regulates-myeloid-cells-activation-in-the-eae-model" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/182133.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">54</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">220</span> An Eco-Translatology Approach to the Translation of Spanish Tourism Advertising in Digital Communication in Chinese</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mingshu%20Liu">Mingshu Liu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laura%20Santamaria"> Laura Santamaria</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xavier%20Carmaniu%20Mainad%C3%A9"> Xavier Carmaniu Mainadé</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> As one of the sectors most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, tourism is facing challenges in revitalizing the industry. But at the same time, it would be a good opportunity to take advantage of digital communication as an effective tool for tourism promotion. Our proposal aims to verify the linguistic operations on online platforms in China. The research is carried out based on the theory of Eco-traductology put forward by Gengshen Hu, whose contribution focuses on the translator's adaptation to the ecosystem environment and the three elaborated parameters (linguistic, cultural and communicative). We also relate it to Even-Zohar's and Toury's theoretical postulates on the Polysystem to elaborate on interdisciplinary methodology. Such a methodology allows us to analyze personal treatments and phraseology in the target text. As for the corpus, we adopt the official Spanish-language website of Turismo de España as the source text and the postings on the two major social networks in China, Weibo and Wechat, in 2019. Through qualitative analysis, we conclude that, in the tourism advertising campaign on Chinese social networks, chengyu (Chinese phraseology) and honorific titles are used very frequently. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=digital%20communication" title="digital communication">digital communication</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=eco-traductology" title=" eco-traductology"> eco-traductology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=polysystem%20theory" title=" polysystem theory"> polysystem theory</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tourism%20advertising" title=" tourism advertising"> tourism advertising</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/138490/an-eco-translatology-approach-to-the-translation-of-spanish-tourism-advertising-in-digital-communication-in-chinese" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/138490.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">227</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">219</span> Modification and Surface Characterization of the Co20Cr15W10Ni Alloy for Application as Biomaterial</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fernanda%20A.%20Vechietti">Fernanda A. Their biocompatibility and lack of corrosion are also prominent features of this alloy. One of the most effective and simple ways to protect metal’s surfaces are treatments, such as electrochemical oxidation by passivation, which is used as a protect release of metallic ions. Another useful treatment is the electropolishing, which is used to reduce the carbide concentration and protrusion at the implanted surface. Electropolishing is a cheap and effective method for treatment of implants, which generally has complex geometries. The purpose of this study is surface modification of the alloy CoCr(ASTM F90-09) by different methods: polishing, electro polishing, passivation and heat treatment for application as biomaterials. The modification of the surface was studied and characterized by SEM, profilometry, wettability and compared to the surface of the samples untreated. The results let us to probe how the proposed motion estimation scheme based on the local appearance correlation computation can simply and intuitively measure the motion parameters for some of the most relevant facial regions and how these parameters can be used to recognize facial expressions automatically. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=facial%20expression%20recognition%20system" title="facial expression recognition system">facial expression recognition system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=feature%20extraction" title=" feature extraction"> feature extraction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=local-appearance%20method" title=" local-appearance method"> local-appearance method</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=motion-based%20approach" title=" motion-based approach"> motion-based approach</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/27632/classifying-facial-expressions-based-on-a-motion-local-appearance-approach" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/27632.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">413</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">217</span> Fuzzy Inference System for Risk Assessment Evaluation of Wheat Flour Product Manufacturing Systems</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Atrin%20Barzegar">Atrin Barzegar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yas%20Barzegar"> Yas Barzegar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Stefano%20Marrone"> Stefano Marrone</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Francesco%20Bellini"> Francesco Bellini</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laura%20Verde"> Laura Verde</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The aim of this research is to develop an intelligent system to analyze the risk level of wheat flour product manufacturing system. The model consists of five Fuzzy Inference Systems in two different layers to analyse the risk of a wheat flour product manufacturing system. The first layer of the model consists of four Fuzzy Inference Systems with three criteria. The output of each one of the Physical, Chemical, Biological and Environmental Failures will be the input of the final manufacturing systems. The proposed model based on Mamdani Fuzzy Inference Systems gives a performance ranking of wheat flour products manufacturing systems. The first step is obtaining data to identify the failure modes from expert’s opinions. The second step is the fuzzification process to convert crisp input to a fuzzy set., then the IF-then fuzzy rule applied through inference engine, and in the final step, the defuzzification process is applied to convert the fuzzy output into real numbers. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=failure%20modes" title="failure modes">failure modes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fuzzy%20rules" title=" fuzzy rules"> fuzzy rules</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fuzzy%20inference%20system" title=" fuzzy inference system"> fuzzy inference system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=risk%20assessment" title=" risk assessment"> risk assessment</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/170997/fuzzy-inference-system-for-risk-assessment-evaluation-of-wheat-flour-product-manufacturing-systems" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/170997.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">75</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">216</span> Mechanical Properties of Fibre Reinforced High Performance Concrete</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laura%20Dembovska">Laura Dembovska</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Diana%20Bajare"> Diana Bajare</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Vitalijs%20Lusis"> Vitalijs Lusis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Genadijs%20Sahmenko"> Genadijs Sahmenko</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aleksandrs%20Korjakins"> Aleksandrs Korjakins</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study focused on the mechanical properties of the fibre reinforced High Performance Concrete. The most important benefits of addition of fibres to the concrete mix are the hindrance of the development of microcracks, the delay of the propagation of microcracks to macroscopic cracks and the better ductility after microcracks have been occurred. This work presents an extensive comparative experimental study on six different types of fibres (alkali resistant glass, polyvinyl alcohol fibres, polypropylene fibres and carbon fibres) with the same binding High Performance Concrete matrix. The purpose was to assess the influence of the type of fibre on the mechanical properties of Fibre Reinforced High Performance Concrete. Therefore, in this study three main objectives have been chosen: 1) analyze the structure of the bulk cementitious matrix, 2) determine the influence of fibres and distribution in the matrix on the mechanical properties of fibre reinforced High Performance Concrete and 3) characterize the microstructure of the fibre-matrix interface. The perspective of energy efficiency is emphasised in the project, but also it addresses what improving the energy efficiency of suburban apartment buildings means from the standpoint of architecturally valuable buildings representing different periods. The project will also test the impacts of stricter energy efficiency requirements on renovation projects. The primary goal of the project is to develop a user-oriented, industrial, economic renovation concept for suburban apartment building renovation, extension and construction of additional storeys. The concept will make it possible to change from performance- and cost-based operation to novel service- and user-oriented, site-specifically tailored renovation methods utilizing integrated order and delivery chains. The present project is collaborating with Ministry of the Environment and participating cities in developing a new type of lighter town planning model for suburban renovations and in-fill construction. To support this, the project will simultaneously develop practices for environmental impact assessment tools in renovation and suburban supplementary and in-fill construction. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=energy%20efficiency" title="energy efficiency">energy efficiency</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=prefabrication" title=" prefabrication"> prefabrication</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=renovation%20concept" title=" renovation concept"> renovation concept</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=suburbs" title=" suburbs"> suburbs</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sustainability" title=" sustainability"> sustainability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=user-orientated" title=" user-orientated "> user-orientated </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/5906/a-new-suburb-renovation-concept" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/5906.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">334</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">214</span> Improving Decision Support for Organ Transplant</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ian%20McCulloh">Ian McCulloh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Andrew%20Placona"> Andrew Placona</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Darren%20Stewart"> Darren Stewart</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Daniel%20Gause"> Daniel Gause</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kevin%20Kiernan"> Kevin Kiernan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Morgan%20Stuart"> Morgan Stuart</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Christopher%20Zinner"> Christopher Zinner</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laura%20Cartwright"> Laura Cartwright</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> An estimated 22-25% of viable deceased donor kidneys are discarded every year in the US, while waitlisted candidates are dying every day. As many as 85% of transplanted organs are refused at least once for a patient that scored higher on the match list. There are hundreds of clinical variables involved in making a clinical transplant decision and there is rarely an ideal match. Decision makers exhibit an optimism bias where they may refuse an organ offer assuming a better match is imminent. We propose a semi-parametric Cox proportional hazard model, augmented by an accelerated failure time model based on patient specific suitable organ supply and demand to estimate a time-to-next-offer. Performance is assessed with Cox-Snell residuals and decision curve analysis, demonstrating improved decision support for up to a 5-year outlook. Providing clinical decision makers with quantitative evidence of likely patient outcomes (e.g., time to next offer and the mortality associated with waiting) may improve decisions and reduce optimism bias, thus reducing discarded organs and matching more patients on the waitlist. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
