To his own<MG2398> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>master<MG2962> he stands<MG4739> or<MG2228> falls<MG4098>; and he will stand<MG2476>, for the Lord<MG2962> is able<MG1414> to make<MG2476> him stand<MG2476>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/14-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>One<MG3739, 3303a> <i>person</i> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>values<MG2919> one day<MG2250> over<MG3844> another<MG2250>, another<MG3739, 1161> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>values<MG2919> every<MG3956> day<MG2250> <i>the same.</i> Each<MG1538> person<MG1538> must be fully<MG4135> convinced<MG4135> in his own<MG2398> mind<MG3563>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/14-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>The one who observes<MG5426> the day<MG2250>, observes<MG5426> it for the Lord<MG2962>, and the one who eats<MG2068>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>does<MG2068> so<MG2068> with regard to the Lord<MG2962>, for he gives<MG2168> thanks<MG2168> to God<MG2316>; and the one who does not eat<MG2068>, <i>it is</i> for the Lord<MG2962> <i>that</i> he does not eat<MG2068>, and he gives<MG2168> thanks<MG2168> to God<MG2316>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/14-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>For not one<MG3762> of us lives<MG2198> for himself<MG1438>, and not one<MG3762> dies<MG599> for himself<MG1438>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/14-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>for if<MG1437> we live<MG2198>, we live<MG2198> for the Lord<MG2962>, or<MG5037> if<MG1437> we die<MG599>, we die<MG599> for the Lord<MG2962>; therefore<MG3767> whether<MG1437, 5037> we live<MG2198> or<MG1437, 5037> die<MG599>, we are the Lord’s<MG2962>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/14-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>For to this<MG3778> <i>end</i> Christ<MG5547> died<MG599> and lived<MG2198> <i>again,</i> that He might be<MG2961> Lord<MG2961> both<MG2532> of the dead<MG3498> and of the living<MG2198>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/14-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>But <i>as for</i> you, why<MG5101> do you judge<MG2919> your brother<MG80> <i>or sister?</i> Or<MG2228> you as<MG2532> well<MG2532>, why<MG5101> do you regard<MG1848> your brother<MG80> <i>or sister</i> with<MG1848> contempt<MG1848>? For we will all<MG3956> appear<MG3936> before<MG3936> the judgment<MG968> seat<MG968> of God<MG2316>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/14-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>For it is written<MG1125>: <p class="indent1stline">“AS I LIVE<MG2198>, SAYS<MG3004> THE LORD<MG2962>, TO ME EVERY<MG3956> KNEE<MG1119> WILL BOW<MG2578>, <t><p class="indent1">AND EVERY<MG3956> TONGUE<MG1100> WILL <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>GIVE<MG1843> PRAISE<MG1843> TO GOD<MG2316>.” <A><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/14-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>So<MG686> then<MG686> each<MG1538> one<MG1538> of us will give<MG1325> an account<MG3056> of himself<MG1438> to God<MG2316>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/14-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>Therefore<MG3767> let’s not judge<MG2919> one<MG240> another<MG240> anymore<MG3371>, but rather<MG3123> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>determine<MG2919> this<MG3778>: not to put<MG5087> an obstacle<MG4348> or<MG2228> a stumbling<MG4625> block<MG4625> in a brother’s<MG80> <i>or sister’s</i> way. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/14-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>I know<MG3609a> and am convinced<MG3982> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>in the Lord<MG2962> Jesus<MG2424> that nothing<MG3762> is <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>unclean<MG2839> in itself<MG1438>; but to the one who thinks<MG3049> something<MG5100> is <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>unclean<MG2839>, to that <i>person it is</i> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>unclean<MG2839>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/14-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>For if<MG1487> because<MG1223> of food<MG1033> your brother<MG80> <i>or sister</i> is hurt<MG3076>, you are no<MG3765> longer<MG3765> walking<MG4043> in<MG2596> accordance<MG2596> with<MG2596> love<MG26>. Do not destroy<MG622> with your <i>choice</i> of food<MG1033> that <i>person</i> for whom<MG3739> Christ<MG5547> died<MG599>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/14-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>Therefore<MG3767> do not let what<MG18> is<MG18> for you a good<MG18> thing<MG18> be <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>spoken<MG987> of<MG987> as<MG987> evil<MG987>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/14-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>for the kingdom<MG932> of God<MG2316> is not eating<MG1035> and drinking<MG4213>, but righteousness<MG1343> and peace<MG1515> and joy<MG5479> in the Holy<MG40> Spirit<MG4151>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/14-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>For the one who serves<MG1398> Christ<MG5547> in this<MG3778> <i>way</i> is acceptable<MG2101> to God<MG2316> and approved<MG1384> by <i>other</i> people<MG444>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/14-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>So<MG686> then<MG3767> we pursue<MG1377> the things <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>which make for peace<MG1515> and the building<MG3619> up<MG3619> of one<MG240> another<MG240>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/14-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>Do not tear<MG2647> down<MG2647> the work<MG2041> of God<MG2316> for the sake<MG1752a> of food<MG1033>. All<MG3956> things<MG3956> indeed<MG3303a> are clean<MG2513>, but they are evil<MG2556> for the person<MG444> who eats<MG2068> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>and causes<MG1223> offense<MG4348>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/14-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>It is good<MG2570> not to eat<MG2068> meat<MG2907> or<MG3366> to drink<MG4095> wine<MG3631>, or<MG3366> <i>to do anything</i> by which<MG3739> your brother<MG80> <i>or sister</i> stumbles<MG4350>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/romans/14-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>The faith<MG4102> which<MG3739> you have<MG2192>, have<MG2192> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[q]</a></span>as your own<MG4572> conviction<MG4572> before<MG1799> God<MG2316>.
