His principal achievement was the conquest of <a href="/wiki/Jaffna_Kingdom" class="mw-redirect" title="Jaffna Kingdom">Jaffna Kingdom</a>, a historical kingdom of what today is northern <a href="/wiki/Sri_Lanka" title="Sri Lanka">Sri Lanka</a>, in 1447 or 1450.<sup id="cite_ref-Gnanaprakasar,_S_p.103_2-0" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-Gnanaprakasar,_S_p.103-2"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>2<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> Bhuvanaikabahu was apparently summoned south after the demise of his adopted father.
