but I will go<MG2064> on to visions<MG3701> and revelations<MG602> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[a]</a></span>of the Lord<MG2962>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_corinthians/12-2.htm"><b>2</b></a></span>I know<MG3609a> a man<MG444> in Christ<MG5547>, who fourteen<MG1180> years<MG2094> ago<MG4253>—whether<MG1535a> in the body<MG4983> I do not know<MG3609a>, or<MG1535a> out of the body<MG4983> I do not know<MG3609a>, God<MG2316> knows<MG3609a>—such<MG5108> a<MG5108> man<MG5108> was caught<MG726> up to the third<MG5154> heaven<MG3772>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_corinthians/12-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>And I know<MG3609a> how<MG3609a> such<MG5108> a<MG5108> man<MG444>—whether<MG1535a> in the body<MG4983> or<MG1535a> apart<MG5565> from the body<MG4983> I do not know<MG3609a>, God<MG2316> knows<MG3609a>— <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_corinthians/12-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>was caught<MG726> up into Paradise<MG3857> and heard<MG191> inexpressible<MG731> words<MG4487>, which<MG3739> a man<MG444> is not permitted<MG1832> to speak<MG2980>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_corinthians/12-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>In<MG5228> behalf<MG5228> of such<MG5108> a<MG5108> man<MG5108> I will boast<MG2744>; but in<MG5228> my own<MG1683> behalf<MG5228> I will not boast<MG2744>, except<MG1508> regarding<MG1722> <i>my</i> weaknesses<MG769>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_corinthians/12-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>For if<MG1437> I do wish<MG2309> to boast<MG2744> I will not be foolish<MG878>, for I will be speaking<MG3004> the truth<MG225>; but I refrain<MG5339> <i>from this,</i> so<MG3361> that<MG3361> no<MG3361> one<MG5100> will credit<MG3049> me with more<MG5228> than<MG5228> he sees<MG991> <i>in</i> me or<MG2228> hears<MG191> from me. <p class="hdg">A Thorn in the Flesh</p><span class="reftext"><a href="/2_corinthians/12-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>Because of the extraordinary<MG5236> <i>greatness</i> of the revelations<MG602>, for this<MG1352> reason<MG1352>, to keep<MG3361> me from exalting<MG5229> myself, there was given<MG1325> to me a thorn<MG4647> in the flesh<MG4561>, a messenger<MG32a> of Satan<MG4567> to <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>torment<MG2852> me—to keep<MG3361> me from exalting<MG5229> myself! <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_corinthians/12-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>Concerning<MG5228> this<MG3778> I pleaded<MG3870> with the Lord<MG2962> three<MG5151> times<MG5151> that it might leave<MG868> me. <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_corinthians/12-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>And He has said<MG3004> to me, “My grace<MG5485> is sufficient<MG714> for you, for power<MG1411> is perfected<MG5055> in weakness<MG769>.” Most<MG2234> gladly<MG2234>, therefore<MG3767>, I will rather<MG3123> boast<MG2744> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>about<MG1722> my weaknesses<MG769>, so<MG2443> that<MG2443> the power<MG1411> of Christ<MG5547> may dwell<MG1981> in me. <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_corinthians/12-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>Therefore<MG1352> I delight<MG2106> in weaknesses<MG769>, in <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>insults<MG5196>, in distresses<MG318>, in persecutions<MG1375>, in difficulties<MG4730>, in<MG5228> behalf<MG5228> of Christ<MG5547>;
