<p>Through my travels with Joe, I have been introduced to a plethora of cultures. 聽These range from the lavish lifestyles of major cities, to downtrodden slums found all over the world. 聽Recently, I was given a dramatic view of life on the outskirts of Cape Town, South Africa.</p> <p>During our visit, we stumbled upon a beautiful family in Langa.. an extremely poor district outside of Cape Town. 聽Our guide decided to give us a tour down the road less traveled, and brought us into the home of a local family. 聽As soon as we walked in, Joe and I both saw this young girl.. wrapped in a red blanket, leaning against a blue wall. 聽With nothing but the window lighting the room, I decided to shoot off 2 pictures on my Rollei. 聽Handholding at around 1/15th of a second.. Camel Farm</a> </h2> </div> </div> <div class="entry-content self-clear"> <p>It’s not very often that you find yourself at a camel farm in the middle of the desert. 聽During our recent adventure over to Dubai.. <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20141004024837/http://www.drewgurian.com/" onclick="javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackEvent','outbound-article','https://web.archive.org/web/20141004024837/http://www.drewgurian.com']);">Drew Gurian</a>, <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20141004024837/http://www.keatleyphoto.com/" onclick="javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackEvent','outbound-article','https://web.archive.org/web/20141004024837/http://www.keatleyphoto.com']);">John Keatley</a>, and I decided to trek out and location scout at one of these farms.</p> <p>After an hour drive toward the middle of nowhere, parking our car on the side of the highway, and hopping in the bed of a random pickup truck, we finally made it to our destination. 聽To say that a beautiful picture could be shot any way you turned would be a complete understatement. 聽I absolutely regret having only brought 3 rolls of film, but I had to make due with what I had.</p> <p>A special thank you goes out the wonderful farmer that offered to take part in my pictures! from a fiction novel found during a trip out of town. 聽It’s important to keep those creative juices flowing, even if there’s no end product in sight. 聽One idea leads to the next, and so on and so forth. 聽Before you know it, you’re portfolio will have been graced by a completely new set of work.. all thanks to that unforced concept originating from something so inconsequential.</p> <p>Allow
