Maximum likelihood (ML) detection has optimal error performance but it has very high complexity. Thus, this paper proposes reduced complexity of ML detection combined with decision feedback equalizer (DFE). The error performance of the proposed detection scheme is higher than the conventional DFE. The research work is concentrating on pin assignment for 2 or 3 droplets routing in the arbitrary biochemical protocol, scheduling and routing in m × n biochip. The volumetric error arises due to droplet split in the biochip. The volumetric error detection is also addressed using biochip AND logic gate which is known as microfluidic AND or mAND gate. The algorithm for pin assignment for m × n biochip required m+n-1 numbers of pins. The basic principle of this algorithm is that no same pin will be allowed to be placed in the same column, same row and diagonal and adjacent cells. The same pin should be placed a distance apart such that interference becomes less. A case study also reported in this paper. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=digital%20microfludic%20biochip" title="digital microfludic biochip">digital microfludic biochip</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cross-contamination" title=" cross-contamination"> cross-contamination</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pin%20assignment" title=" pin assignment"> pin assignment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=microfluidic%20AND%20gate" title=" microfluidic AND gate"> microfluidic AND gate</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/91627/pin-count-aware-volumetric-error-detection-in-arbitrary-microfluidic-bio-chip" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/91627.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">274</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5209</span> Error Probability of Multi-User Detection Techniques</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Komal%20Babbar">Komal Babbar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Multiuser Detection is the intelligent estimation/demodulation of transmitted bits in the presence of Multiple Access Interference. The authors have presented the Bit-error rate (BER) achieved by linear multi-user detectors: Matched filter (which treats the MAI as AWGN), Decorrelating and MMSE. In this work, authors investigate the bit error probability analysis for Matched filter, decorrelating, and MMSE. This problem arises in several practical CDMA applications where the receiver may not have full knowledge of the number of active users and their signature sequences. In particular, the behavior of MAI at the output of the Multi-user detectors (MUD) is examined under various asymptotic conditions including large signal to noise ratio; large near-far ratios; and a large number of users. In the last section Authors also shows Matlab Simulation results for Multiuser detection techniques i.e., Matched filter, Decorrelating, MMSE for 2 users and 10 users. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=code%20division%20multiple%20access" title="code division multiple access">code division multiple access</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=decorrelating" title=" decorrelating"> decorrelating</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=matched%20filter" title=" matched filter"> matched filter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=minimum%20mean%20square%20detection%20%28MMSE%29%20detection" title=" minimum mean square detection (MMSE) detection"> minimum mean square detection (MMSE) detection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multiple%20access%20interference%20%28MAI%29" title=" multiple access interference (MAI)"> multiple access interference (MAI)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multiuser%20detection%20%28MUD%29" title=" multiuser detection (MUD)"> multiuser detection (MUD)</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26329/error-probability-of-multi-user-detection-techniques" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26329.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">528</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5208</span> Sensor Registration in Multi-Static Sonar Fusion Detection</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Longxiang%20Guo">Longxiang Guo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Haoyan%20Hao"> Haoyan Hao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xueli%20Sheng"> Xueli Sheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hanjun%20Yu"> Hanjun Yu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jingwei%20Yin"> Jingwei Yin</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In order to prevent target splitting and ensure the accuracy of fusion, system error registration is an important step in multi-static sonar fusion detection system. To eliminate the inherent system errors including distance error and angle error of each sonar in detection, this paper uses offline estimation method for error registration. Suppose several sonars from different platforms work together to detect a target. The target position detected by each sonar is based on each sonar’s own reference coordinate system. Based on the two-dimensional stereo projection method, this paper uses real-time quality control (RTQC) method and least squares (LS) method to estimate sensor biases. The RTQC method takes the average value of each sonar’s data as the observation value and the LS method makes the least square processing of each sonar’s data to get the observation value. In the underwater acoustic environment, matlab simulation is carried out and the simulation results show that both algorithms can estimate the distance and angle error of sonar system. The performance of the two algorithms is also compared through the root mean square error and the influence of measurement noise on registration accuracy is explored by simulation. The system error convergence of RTQC method is rapid, but the distribution of targets has a serious impact on its performance. LS method can not be affected by target distribution, but the increase of random noise will slow down the convergence rate. LS method is an improvement of RTQC method, which is widely used in two-dimensional registration. The improved method can be used for underwater multi-target detection registration. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=data%20fusion" title="data fusion">data fusion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multi-static%20sonar%20detection" title=" multi-static sonar detection"> multi-static sonar detection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=offline%20estimation" title=" offline estimation"> offline estimation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sensor%20registration%20problem" title=" sensor registration problem"> sensor registration problem</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/103631/sensor-registration-in-multi-static-sonar-fusion-detection" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/103631.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">169</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5207</span> Grating Scale Thermal Expansion Error Compensation for Large Machine Tools Based on Multiple Temperature Detection</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wenlong%20Feng">Wenlong Feng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhenchun%20Du"> Zhenchun Du</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jianguo%20Yang"> Jianguo Yang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> To decrease the grating scale thermal expansion error, a novel method which based on multiple temperature detections is proposed. Several temperature sensors are installed on the grating scale and the temperatures of these sensors are recorded. The temperatures of every point on the grating scale are calculated by interpolating between adjacent sensors. According to the thermal expansion principle, the grating scale thermal expansion error model can be established by doing the integral for the variations of position and temperature. A novel compensation method is proposed in this paper. By applying the established error model, the grating scale thermal expansion error is decreased by 90% compared with no compensation. The residual positioning error of the grating scale is less than 15um/10m and the accuracy of the machine tool is significant improved. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20expansion%20error%20of%20grating%20scale" title="thermal expansion error of grating scale">thermal expansion error of grating scale</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=error%20compensation" title=" error compensation"> error compensation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=machine%20tools" title=" machine tools"> machine tools</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=integral%20method" title=" integral method"> integral method</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/34355/grating-scale-thermal-expansion-error-compensation-for-large-machine-tools-based-on-multiple-temperature-detection" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/34355.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">366</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5206</span> Designing a Cyclic Redundancy Checker-8 for 32 Bit Input Using VHDL</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ankit%20Shai">Ankit Shai</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> CRC or Cyclic Redundancy Check is one of the most common, and one of the most powerful error-detecting codes implemented on modern computers. Most of the modern communication protocols use some error detection algorithms in digital networks and storage devices to detect accidental changes to raw data between transmission and reception. Cyclic Redundancy Check, or CRC, is the most popular one among these error detection codes. CRC properties are defined by the generator polynomial length and coefficients. The aim of this project is to implement an efficient FPGA based CRC-8 that accepts a 32 bit input, taking into consideration optimal chip area and high performance, using VHDL. The proposed architecture is implemented on Xilinx ISE Simulator. The mouse is necessary to zoom in on the images, but this can be tiring and distracting when many images are read in a single day. Therefore, an image magnification system combining an eye-detector and a simple electroencephalograph (EEG) scanner was devised, and its operability was evaluated. Two experiments were conducted in this study: the measurement of eye-detection error using an eye-detector and the measurement of the time required for image magnification using a simple EEG scanner. Eye-detector validation showed that the mean distance of eye-detection error ranged from 0.64 cm to 2.17 cm, with an overall mean of 1.24 ± 0.81 cm for the observers. The results showed that the eye detection error was small enough for the magnified area of the mammographic image. The average time required for point magnification in the verification of the simple EEG scanner ranged from 5.85 to 16.73 seconds, and individual differences were observed. The reason for this may be that the size of the simple EEG scanner used was not adjustable, so it did not fit well for some subjects. The use of a simple EEG scanner with size adjustment would solve this problem. Therefore, the image magnification system using the eye-detector and the simple EEG scanner is useful. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=EEG%20scanner" title="EEG scanner">EEG scanner</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=eye-detector" title=" eye-detector"> eye-detector</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mammography" title=" mammography"> mammography</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=observers" title=" observers"> observers</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/155822/basic-study-of-mammographic-image-magnification-system-with-eye-detector-and-simple-eeg-scanner" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/155822.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">215</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5204</span> A Novel Approach to Design of EDDR Architecture for High Speed Motion Estimation Testing Applications</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=T.%20Gangadhararao">T. The proposed EDDR design for ME testing can detect errors and recover data with an acceptable area overhead and timing penalty. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=area%20overhead" title="area overhead">area overhead</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=data%20recovery" title=" data recovery"> data recovery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=error%20detection" title=" error detection"> error detection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=motion%20estimation" title=" motion estimation"> motion estimation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reliability" title=" reliability"> reliability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=residue-and-quotient%20%28RQ%29%20code" title=" residue-and-quotient (RQ) code "> residue-and-quotient (RQ) code </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/16800/a-novel-approach-to-design-of-eddr-architecture-for-high-speed-motion-estimation-testing-applications" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/16800.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">432</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5203</span> A Study of Effective Stereo Matching Method for Long-Wave Infrared Camera Module</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hyun-Koo%20Kim">Hyun-Koo Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yonghun%20Kim"> Yonghun Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yong-Hoon%20Kim"> Yong-Hoon Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ju%20Hee%20Lee"> Ju Hee Lee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Myungho%20Song"> Myungho Song</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, we have described an efficient stereo matching method and pedestrian detection method using stereo types LWIR camera. The damage detection methods mainly focused on the determination of the location and severity of the damage. Model updating is a well known method to locate and quantify the damage. In this method, an error function is defined in terms of difference between the signal measured from ‘experiment’ and signal obtained from undamaged finite element model. This error function is minimised with a proper algorithm, and the finite element model is updated accordingly to match the measured response. Thus, the damage location and severity can be identified from the updated model. In this paper, an error function is defined in terms of modal data viz. frequencies and modal assurance criteria (MAC). MAC is derived from Eigen vectors. This error function is minimized by teaching-learning-based optimization (TLBO) algorithm, and the finite element model is updated accordingly to locate and quantify the damage. Damage is introduced in the model by reduction of stiffness of the structural member. The ‘experimental’ data is simulated by the finite element modelling. The error due to experimental measurement is introduced in the synthetic ‘experimental’ data by adding random noise, which follows Gaussian distribution. The efficiency and robustness of this method are explained through three examples e.g., one truss, one beam and one frame problem. The result shows that TLBO algorithm is efficient to detect the damage location as well as the severity of damage using modal data. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=damage%20detection" title="damage detection">damage detection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=finite%20element%20model%20updating" title=" finite element model updating"> finite element model updating</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modal%20assurance%20criteria" title=" modal assurance criteria"> modal assurance criteria</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=structural%20health%20monitoring" title=" structural health monitoring"> structural health monitoring</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=teaching%20learning%20based%20optimization" title=" teaching learning based optimization"> teaching learning based optimization</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/77962/structural-damage-detection-using-modal-data-employing-teaching-learning-based-optimization" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/77962.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">215</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5201</span> Comparison of Various Classification Techniques Using WEKA for Colon Cancer Detection</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Beema%20Akbar">Beema Akbar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Varun%20P.%20Gopi"> Varun P. This way, the new designs are presented for signed parity-preserving serial multipliers based on the Booth's algorithm by exploiting the new arrangements of existing gates. The experimental results show that the proposed 4×4 multipliers in this paper reach up to 20%, 35%, and 41% enhancements in the number of constant inputs, quantum cost, and gate count, respectively, as the reversible logic criteria, compared to previous designs. The effects of the center distance error, the perpendicular error between input and output axes and the rotational angle error of the globoidal cam on the output error are systematically analyzed. A globoidal cam mechanism which is widely used in automatic tool changer of CNC machines is applied for illustration. In addition, improving error correction and detection methods remains an open issue in the realm of Natural Language Processing (NLP). This research investigates whether the bidirectional encoder representations from the transformers model (BERT) have the potential to correct preposition errors accurately enough to be useful in error correction software. This research finds that BERT performs strongly when the scope of its error correction is limited to preposition choice. The researchers used an open-source BERT model and over three hundred thousand edited sentences from Wikipedia, tagged for part of speech, where only a preposition edit had occurred. To test BERT’s ability to detect errors, a technique known as multi-level masking was used to generate suggestions based on sentence context for every prepositional environment in the test data. These suggestions were compared with the original errors in the data and their known corrections to evaluate BERT’s performance. The suggestions were further analyzed to determine if BERT more often agreed with the judgements of the Wikipedia editors. Both the untrained and fined-tuned models were compared. Finetuning led to a greater rate of error-detection which significantly improved recall, but lowered precision due to an increase in false positives or falsely flagged errors. However, in most cases, these false positives were not errors in preposition usage but merely cases where more than one preposition was possible. Furthermore, when BERT correctly identified an error, the model largely agreed with the Wikipedia editors, suggesting that BERT’s ability to detect misused prepositions is better than previously believed. To evaluate to what extent BERT’s false positives were grammatical suggestions, we plan to do a further crowd-sourcing study to test the grammaticality of BERT’s suggested sentence corrections against native speakers’ judgments. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=BERT" title="BERT">BERT</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=grammatical%20error%20correction" title=" grammatical error correction"> grammatical error correction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=preposition%20error%20detection" title=" preposition error detection"> preposition error detection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=prepositions" title=" prepositions"> prepositions</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/152314/exploring-bidirectional-encoder-representations-from-the-transformers-capabilities-to-detect-english-preposition-errors" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/152314.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">147</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5195</span> Adaptive Decision Feedback Equalizer Utilizing Fixed-Step Error Signal for Multi-Gbps Serial Links</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alaa%20Abdullah%20Altaee">Alaa Abdullah Altaee</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper presents an adaptive decision feedback equalizer (ADFE) for multi-Gbps serial links utilizing a fix-step error signal extracted from cross-points of received data symbols. Experiments are conducted using Scikit-image & OpenCV tools of Python, and performance is evaluated and compared over various existing image segmentation techniques for several matrices, i.e., Mean Square Error (MSE) and Peak Signal Noise Ratio (PSNR). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=satellite%20image" title="satellite image">satellite image</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=image%20segmentation" title=" image segmentation"> image segmentation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=edge%20detection" title=" edge detection"> edge detection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=error%20rate" title=" error rate"> error rate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MSE" title=" MSE"> MSE</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PSNR" title=" PSNR"> PSNR</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=HIST-SI" title=" HIST-SI"> HIST-SI</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=linking" title=" linking"> linking</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=filtering" title=" filtering"> filtering</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=imp_HIST-SI" title=" imp_HIST-SI"> imp_HIST-SI</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/149905/imp-hist-si-improved-hybrid-image-segmentation-technique-for-satellite-imagery-to-decrease-the-segmentation-error-rate" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/149905.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">141</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5193</span> Intrusion Detection Using Dual Artificial Techniques</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rana%20I.%20Abdulghani">Rana I. Thus, there is an increasing demand for better error detection and correction (EDAC) schemes, which are capable of protecting the data onboard the satellites. The paper is aimed towards detecting and correcting such errors using a special algorithm called the Hamming Code, which uses the concept of parity and parity bits to prevent single-bit errors onboard a satellite in Low Earth Orbit. This paper focuses on the study of Low Earth Orbit satellites and the process of generating the Hamming Code matrix to be used for EDAC using computer programs. The most effective version of Hamming Code generated was the Hamming (16, 11, 4) version using MATLAB, and the paper compares this particular scheme with other EDAC mechanisms, including other versions of Hamming Codes and Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC), and the limitations of this scheme. This particular version of the Hamming Code guarantees single-bit error corrections as well as double-bit error detections. Furthermore, this version of Hamming Code has proved to be fast with a checking time of 5.669 nanoseconds, that has a relatively higher code rate and lower bit overhead compared to the other versions and can detect a greater percentage of errors per length of code than other EDAC schemes with similar capabilities. In conclusion, with the proper implementation of the system, it is quite possible to ensure a relatively uncorrupted satellite storage system. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bit-flips" title="bit-flips">bit-flips</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hamming%20code" title=" Hamming code"> Hamming code</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=low%20earth%20orbit" title=" low earth orbit"> low earth orbit</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=parity%20bits" title=" parity bits"> parity bits</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=satellite" title=" satellite"> satellite</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=single%20error%20upset" title=" single error upset"> single error upset</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/122077/error-detection-and-correction-for-onboard-satellite-computers-using-hamming-code" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/122077.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">130</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5191</span> Attention-Based Spatio-Temporal Approach for Fire and Smoke Detection</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alireza%20Mirrashid">Alireza Mirrashid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Khoshbin"> Mohammad Khoshbin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ali%20Atghaei"> Ali Atghaei</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hassan%20Shahbazi"> Hassan Shahbazi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In various industries, smoke and fire are two of the most important threats in the workplace. One of the common methods for detecting smoke and fire is the use of infrared thermal and smoke sensors, which cannot be used in outdoor applications. Therefore, the use of vision-based methods seems necessary. The problem of smoke and fire detection is spatiotemporal and requires spatiotemporal solutions. This paper presents a method that uses spatial features along with temporal-based features to detect smoke and fire in the scene. It consists of three main parts; the task of each part is to reduce the error of the previous part so that the final model has a robust performance. This method also uses transformer modules to increase the accuracy of the model. Active research is being carried to adopt this theoretical concept for using in practical applications such as 5th generation wireless communication systems. Cyclic redundancy check (CRC) error detection code is broadly used in conjunction with successive cancellation list (SCL) decoding algorithm to improve finite-length polar code performance. However, there are two issues: increase of code block payload overhead by CRC bits and decrease of CRC error-detection capability. This paper proposes a method to control CRC overhead and false alarm rate of polar decoding. As shown in the computer simulations results, the proposed method provides the ability to use any set of CRC polynomials with any list size while maintaining the desired level of false alarm rate. This level of flexibility allows using polar codes in 5G New Radio standard. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=5G%20New%20Radio" title="5G New Radio">5G New Radio</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=channel%20coding" title=" channel coding"> channel coding</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cyclic%20redundancy%20check" title=" cyclic redundancy check"> cyclic redundancy check</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=list%20decoding" title=" list decoding"> list decoding</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=polar%20codes" title=" polar codes"> polar codes</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/85145/method-of-false-alarm-rate-control-for-cyclic-redundancy-check-aided-list-decoding-of-polar-codes" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/85145.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">238</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5189</span> Relevancy Measures of Errors in Displacements of Finite Elements Analysis Results</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=A.%20B.%20Bolkhir">A. For digital watermarking, both accurate retrieval of the embedded watermark and the integrity of the cover image are important. Medical image security in Teleradiology is one of the applications where the embedded patient record needs to be extracted with accuracy as well as the medical image integrity verified. In this research paper, the Constant Correlation Spread Spectrum digital watermarking for medical image tamper detection and accurate embedded watermark retrieval is introduced. In the proposed method, a watermark bit from a patient record is spread in a medical image sub-block such that the correlation of all watermarked sub-blocks with a spreading code, W, would have a constant value, <em>p.</em> The constant correlation <em>p</em>, spreading code, W and the size of the sub-blocks constitute the secret key. Tamper detection is achieved by flagging any sub-block whose correlation value deviates by more than a small value, ℇ, from <em>p</em>. The major features of our new scheme include: (1) Improving watermark detection accuracy for high-pixel depth medical images by reducing the Bit Error Rate (BER) to Zero and (2) block-level tamper detection in a single computational process with simultaneous watermark detection, thereby increasing utility with the same computational cost. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Constant%20Correlation" title="Constant Correlation">Constant Correlation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Medical%20Image" title=" Medical Image"> Medical Image</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Spread%20Spectrum" title=" Spread Spectrum"> Spread Spectrum</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tamper%20Detection" title=" Tamper Detection"> Tamper Detection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Watermarking" title=" Watermarking"> Watermarking</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/84629/medical-image-watermark-and-tamper-detection-using-constant-correlation-spread-spectrum-watermarking" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/84629.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">194</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5187</span> Calibration of the Radical Installation Limit Error of the Accelerometer in the Gravity Gradient Instrument</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Danni%20Cong">Danni Cong</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Meiping%20Wu"> Meiping Wu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xiaofeng%20He"> Xiaofeng He</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Junxiang%20Lian"> Junxiang Lian</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Juliang%20Cao"> Juliang Cao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shaokuncai"> Shaokuncai</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hao%20Qin"> Hao Qin</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Gravity gradient instrument (GGI) is the core of the gravity gradiometer, so the structural error of the sensor has a great impact on the measurement results. The detection process becomes difficult if the signal occupying the band of interest has faded amplitude due to multipath effects. These effects make it hard for an occupying user to be detected. This work mitigates the missed-detection problem in the context of cognitive radio in frequency-selective fading channel by proposing blind channel estimation method that is based on scattering transform. By initially applying conventional energy detection, the missed-detection probability is evaluated, and if it is greater than or equal to 50%, channel estimation is applied on the received signal followed by channel equalization to reduce the channel effects. In the proposed channel estimator, we modify the Morlet wavelet by using its first derivative for better frequency resolution. A mathematical description of the modified function and its frequency resolution is formulated in this work. The improved frequency resolution is required to follow the spectral variation of the channel. The channel estimation error is evaluated in the mean-square sense for different channel settings, and energy detection is applied to the equalized received signal. The simulation results show improvement in reducing the missed-detection probability as compared to the detection based on principal component analysis. This improvement is achieved at the expense of increased estimator complexity, which depends on the number of wavelet filters as related to the channel taps. Also, the detection performance shows an improvement in detection probability for low signal-to-noise scenarios over principal component analysis- based energy detection. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=channel%20estimation" title="channel estimation">channel estimation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cognitive%20radio" title=" cognitive radio"> cognitive radio</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=scattering%20transform" title=" scattering transform"> scattering transform</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spectrum%20sensing" title=" spectrum sensing"> spectrum sensing</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/79688/enhancement-of-primary-user-detection-in-cognitive-radio-by-scattering-transform" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/79688.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">196</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5185</span> A High Performance Piano Note Recognition Scheme via Precise Onset Detection and Segmented Short-Time Fourier Transform</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sonali%20Banrjee">Sonali Banrjee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Swarup%20Kumar%20Mitra"> Swarup Kumar Mitra</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aritra%20Acharyya"> Aritra Acharyya</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> A piano note recognition method has been proposed by the authors in this paper. To show the performance of the method, the proposed algorithm is compared with other methods using various test images. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reversible%20watermarking" title="reversible watermarking">reversible watermarking</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=high%20capacity" title=" high capacity"> high capacity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=high%20quality" title=" high quality"> high quality</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=interpolated%20error%20shifting" title=" interpolated error shifting"> interpolated error shifting</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=error%20precompensation" title=" error precompensation"> error precompensation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/7023/high-capacity-reversible-watermarking-through-interpolated-error-shifting" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/7023.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">322</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5183</span> Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory-Based Signal Detection for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing With All Index Modulation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mahmut%20Yildirim">Mahmut Yildirim</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper proposed the bidirectional long short-term memory (Bi-LSTM) network-aided deep learning (DL)-based signal detection for Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing with all index modulation (OFDM-AIM), namely Bi-DeepAIM. OFDM-AIM is developed to increase the spectral efficiency of OFDM with index modulation (OFDM-IM), a promising multi-carrier technique for communication systems beyond 5G. In this paper, due to its strong classification ability, Bi-LSTM is considered an alternative to the maximum likelihood (ML) algorithm, which is used for signal detection in the classical OFDM-AIM scheme. The performance of the Bi-DeepAIM is compared with LSTM network-aided DL-based OFDM-AIM (DeepAIM) and classic OFDM-AIM that uses (ML)-based signal detection via BER performance and computational time criteria. Simulation results show that Bi-DeepAIM obtains better bit error rate (BER) performance than DeepAIM and lower computation time in signal detection than ML-AIM. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bidirectional%20long%20short-term%20memory" title="bidirectional long short-term memory">bidirectional long short-term memory</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=deep%20learning" title=" deep learning"> deep learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=maximum%20likelihood" title=" maximum likelihood"> maximum likelihood</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=OFDM%20with%20all%20index%20modulation" title=" OFDM with all index modulation"> OFDM with all index modulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=signal%20detection" title=" signal detection"> signal detection</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/183512/bidirectional-long-short-term-memory-based-signal-detection-for-orthogonal-frequency-division-multiplexing-with-all-index-modulation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/183512.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">72</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5182</span> Efficient Signal Detection Using QRD-M Based on Channel Condition in MIMO-OFDM System</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jae-Jeong%20Kim">Jae-Jeong Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ki-Ro%20Kim"> Ki-Ro Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hyoung-Kyu%20Song"> Hyoung-Kyu Song</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, we propose an efficient signal detector that switches M parameter of QRD-M detection scheme is proposed for MIMO-OFDM system. The proposed detection scheme calculates the threshold by 1-norm condition number and then switches M parameter of QRD-M detection scheme according to channel information. If channel condition is bad, the parameter M is set to high value to increase the accuracy of detection. If channel condition is good, the parameter M is set to low value to reduce complexity of detection. Therefore, the proposed detection scheme has better trade off between BER performance and complexity than the conventional detection scheme. The simulation result shows that the complexity of proposed detection scheme is lower than QRD-M detection scheme with similar BER performance. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
