This included Executive Order 192, which provided many COVID-19 worker rights and protections.</p><p>However, certain federal COVID-19 worker rights and protections are in place for specific occupations and industries, such as healthcare workers and medical facilities. It's also against<a href="https://www.nj.gov/labor/wagehour/lawregs/wage_and_hour_laws.html"> New Jersey Wage and Hour law</a> for an employer to deduct the cost of protective equipment from an employee's pay.</p></div><a href="#" class="button-nj w-condition-invisible w-dyn-bind-empty w-button"></a></div><div id="section-5" class="subpage-content-div"><h2 class="accordion-title">Understand Requirements for When an Employee Tests Positive for COVID-19</h2><div class="page-rich-txt w-richtext"><p>New Jersey does not have any COVID-19-specific policies regarding sick leave or job security for private employers. Businesses must abide by existing sick leave and job protection laws.</p><p><strong>Employer Requirements when Employees Contract COVID-19</strong></p><p>Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, employers are responsible for providing a safe and healthy workplace free from recognized hazards likely to cause death or serious physical harm.</p><p>The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) strongly suggests that employers instruct any workers who are known to be infected with COVID-19, unvaccinated workers who have had close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19, and all workers with COVID-19 symptoms to stay home from work.</p></div><a href="#" class="button-nj w-condition-invisible w-dyn-bind-empty w-button"></a></div><div id="section-6" class="subpage-content-div"><h2 class="accordion-title">Find State COVID-19 Financial Assistance Programs</h2><div class="page-rich-txt w-richtext"><h3><strong>Small Business Improvement Grant</strong></h3><p>The Small Business Improvement Grant reimburses eligible small businesses and nonprofits for up to 50% of eligible project costs associated with building improvements or the purchase and/or installation of new furniture, fixtures, and equipment made on or after March 9th, 2020.
