The band have previously charted with their third album “Hungry Ghost” (HP-6, 16-Sept, 2013, re-enters this week at No.73 for its 49th week within the Top 100).</p> <p>This is the first time that the word ‘Waco’ has appeared in a No.1 album title here and this new No.1 album becomes the seventh chart-topping set for an Australian act in 2016 (including the ‘Molly’ TV soundtrack) and the third in a row after Matt Corby and The Cat Empire. It’s also the 196th No.1 album by an Australian Act, and the 356th for a Group (local or international), plus the 101st for an Aussie act and Violent Soho are the 57th Australian Group to make it to No.1 since The Seekers first did it in July 1968.</p> <p>Last weeks No.1 debut of “Telluric” for Matt Corby only drops a single place to No.2 this week (the past two No.1 albums dropped hard in their second week), and on hold this week are the “Molly” mini-series TV Soundtrack and “25” for Adele at No.3 and No.4 respectively, whilst back up one place to No.5 are The Hilltop Hoods and “Drinking from the Sun, Walking Under Stars: Restrung”, meaning that the top five this week is made up of current and older No.1 albums.</p> <p>The third studio album for former No Doubt lead singer Gwen Stefani debus at No.6 this week entitled “This is What the Truth Feels Like”, and it also becomes her third album to debut within the Top 10, as her two previous entries were “Love.Angel.Music.Baby. (HP-1×2, debuted Nov 2004 and peaked Feb 2005), followed by “The Sweet Escape” (HP-2×2, debuted Dec 2006 and peaked April 2007). The third and final Top 10 debut this week is the 24th studio album for Iggy Pop entitled “Post Pop Depression” which enters at No.7, and in doing so it becomes his first ever Top 10 album in Australia, plus his first entry here since his 15th album “Naughty Little Doggie” (HP-83, 24th March 1996) just over twenty years ago, with his previously highest charting album being his fourteenth set “American Caesar” (HP-29, Nov 1993), whilst his two further Top 50 albums in the past were “New Values” (HP-36, peaked late July 1979) and “Blah BlahBlah” (HP-34, peaked April 1987).</p> <p>Justin Bieber’s new Top 50 single “Company” helps his album “Purpose” to climb back up a couple of places this week to No.8, whilst down two to No.9 is Macklemore & Ryan Lewis with “This Unruly Mess I’ve Made” with last weeks No.2 debut of “You and I” for Jeff Buckley dropping eight places this week to land at No.10.</p> <p>UP: Elle King jumped into the Top 20 last week with her debut album “Love Stuff”, and this week it rises six places to a new peak of No.14, whilst back up thirteen places to No.15 and spending its one year anniversary on the charts is Kendrick Lamar with “To Pimp a Butterfly”. “Immortalized” for Disturbed is back up six to No.19 thanks to their hit Top 30 single this week and “x” for Ed Sheeran climbs seven to land at No.22, after which the recently screened doco “From Motown to Off the Wall” on TV last week helps the re-packed bonus DVD edition of “Off the Wall” for Michael Jackson to return at No.27 this week and his “Essential” collection is up thirty-seven spots to No.38. Phil Collins’ “Hits” set flies up thirty-eight spots to land at No.30 and The Weeknd rises three to No.37 with the only new certified album this week “Beauty Behind the Madness” (now ▲Platinum). Troye Sivan leaps back up thirty-two spots to No.39 with “Blue Neighbourhood” and also back into the Top 50 is Cold Chisel with “The Best of–All for You” (74 to 45) and back within the Top 100 at No.48 is “White Heat: 30 Hits” for Icehouse.</p> <p>DOWN: The three albums leaving the Top 10 this week are “Rising with the Sun” for The Cat Empire (HP-1, WI10-2) down nine to No.18, and two of last weeks Top 10 debuts both plummet this week in “Incarnate” by Killswitch Engage (5 to 28) and “Have it All (Live)” by Bethel Music (8 to 32). “Six Ribbons” for Jon English is down four to No.21 and down eleven places each are Coldplay and “A Head Full of Dreams” and twenty one pilots with “Blurryface” to No.24 and No.29 respectively. Madonna’s “Rebel Heart” drops eleven to No.33 this week, whilst her “Immaculate Collection” is up six to No.31 and “Celebration” falls from 46 to 70. “Youth Revival” for Hillsong Young & Free tumbles twenty-four spots to No.35 and the debut set for Alessia Cara in “Know-it-All” is down twenty-four to No.40, and finally The 1975 set “I Like it When You Sleep…” dives seventeen spots to No.44. Falling down into the lower fifty are Urthboy (32 to 59), Eminem (44 to 62), Sara Storer (30 to 66), Melissa Etheridge (48 to 68), Chase Rice (23 to 86) and Kip Moore (31 to 88), whilst leaving the Top 100 from last weeks fifty are Kelsea Ballerini (#33), 3 Doors Down (#34), Jason Aldean (#35), Brian Fallon (#36), Flatbush Zombies (#39) and Florida Georgia Line (#45).</p> <p>Perth band The Drones see their seventh studio album “Feelin’ Kinda Free” debut at No.12 this week, becoming their second Top 20 entry and now highest charting set, beating the No.18 peak that their March 2013 set “I See Seaweed” achieved in its first week, and this is their fourth album to chart within the Top 100. And another Perth act to debut with their first album is the self-titled set for Koi Child at No.25, made up of members from two different bands in Child’s Play and Kashikoi who have combined to become this new outfit.</p> <p>The sixth Batman and third Superman soundtrack album to chart in Australia debuts at No.34 this week for the just released film (24th March) “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice”, and this is the second Zac Snyder/Hans Zimmer (with extra music by Junkie XL) super-hero soundtrack after “Man of Steel” made it to No.85 in July 2013. The final Top 50 entry this week comes in at No.36 and is the ninth studio album for Underworld entitled “Barbara Barbara, We Face a Shining Future” and is their first new material in five-and-a-half years, as they last charted in Sept 2010 with “Barking” (HP-46), with this becoming their seventh charted album in Australia (6 studio and 1 live set) and their sixth to land within the Top 50.</p> <p>Lower 50: “Adam Brand & the Outlaws” blast back in at No.51 and back up thirty-seven places to No.53 is the Elton John best of “Rocket Man: The Definitive Hits”, with Bryan Adams’ “Get Up” leaping thirty-seven this week to land at No.58.
