He sent<MH7971> them against Judah<MH3063> to destroy<MH6> it, in accordance with the word<MH1697> of the LORD<MH3068> which<MH834> He had spoken<MH1696> through<MH3027> His servants<MH5650> the prophets<MH5030>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_kings/24-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>It indeed<MH389> came<MH1961> upon Judah<MH3063> at the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[a]</a></span>command<MH6310> of the LORD<MH3068>, to remove<MH5493> <i>them</i> from His sight<MH6440> due to the sins<MH2403b> of Manasseh<MH4519>, in accordance with everything<MH3605> that he had done<MH6213a>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_kings/24-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>and also<MH1571> for the innocent<MH5355a> blood<MH1818> which<MH834> he shed<MH8210>, for he filled<MH4390> Jerusalem<MH3389> with innocent<MH5355a> blood<MH1818>; and the LORD<MH3068> was unwilling<MH3808, 14> to forgive<MH5545>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_kings/24-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>Now the rest<MH3499a> of the acts<MH1697> of Jehoiakim<MH3079> and all<MH3605> that he did<MH6213a>, are they not written<MH3789> in the Book<MH5612> of the Chronicles<MH1697, 3117> of the Kings<MH4428> of Judah<MH3063>? <p class="hdg">Jehoiachin Reigns</p><span class="reftext"><a href="/2_kings/24-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>So Jehoiakim<MH3079> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>lay<MH7901> down<MH7901> with his fathers<MH1>, and his son<MH1121> Jehoiachin<MH3078> became<MH4427a> king<MH4427a> in<MH8478> his place<MH8478>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_kings/24-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>Now the king<MH4428> of Egypt<MH4714> did not come<MH3318> out<MH3318> of his land<MH776> again<MH5750, 3254>, because<MH3588> the king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894> had taken<MH3947> everything<MH3605> that belonged<MH1961> to the king<MH4428> of Egypt<MH4714> from the brook<MH5158a> of Egypt<MH4714> to the river<MH5104> Euphrates<MH6578>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/2_kings/24-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>Jehoiachin<MH3078> was eighteen<MH8083, 6240> years<MH8141> old<MH1121> when he became<MH4427a> king<MH4427a>, and he reigned<MH4427a> for three<MH7969> months<MH2320> in Jerusalem<MH3389>; and his mother’s<MH517> name<MH8034> <i>was</i> Nehushta<MH5179b> the daughter<MH1323> of Elnathan<MH494> of Jerusalem<MH3389>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_kings/24-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>He did<MH6213a> evil<MH7451a> in the sight<MH5869> of the LORD<MH3068>, in accordance with all<MH3605> that his father<MH1> had done<MH6213a>. <p class="hdg">Deportation to Babylon</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/2_kings/24-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>At that time<MH6256> the servants<MH5650> of Nebuchadnezzar<MH5019> the king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894> went<MH5927> up<MH5927> to Jerusalem<MH3389>, and the city<MH5892b> came<MH935> under siege<MH4692>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_kings/24-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>And Nebuchadnezzar<MH5019> the king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894> came<MH935> to the city<MH5892b>, while his servants<MH5650> were besieging<MH6696a, 5921> it. <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_kings/24-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>Then Jehoiachin<MH3078> the king<MH4428> of Judah<MH3063> went<MH3318> out<MH3318> to the king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894>, he, his mother<MH517>, his servants<MH5650>, his commanders<MH8269>, and his officials<MH5631>. And the king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894> took<MH3947> him <i>prisoner</i> in the eighth<MH8083> year<MH8141> of his reign<MH4427a>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_kings/24-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>He also brought<MH3318> out<MH3318> from there<MH8033> all<MH3605> the treasures<MH214> of the house<MH1004> of the LORD<MH3068>, and the treasures<MH214> of the king’s<MH4428> house<MH1004>, and he smashed<MH7112> all<MH3605> the articles<MH3627> of gold<MH2091> that<MH834> Solomon<MH8010> king<MH4428> of Israel<MH3478> had made<MH6213a> in the temple<MH1964> of the LORD<MH3068>, just<MH3512c> as<MH3512c> the LORD<MH3068> had said<MH1696>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_kings/24-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>Then he led<MH1540> into<MH1540> exile<MH1540> all<MH3605> <i>the people of</i> Jerusalem<MH3389> and all<MH3605> the commanders<MH8269> and all<MH3605> the valiant<MH2428> warriors<MH1368>, ten<MH6235> thousand<MH505> exiles<MH1540>, and all<MH3605> the craftsmen<MH2796> and the smiths<MH4525>. None<MH3808> were left<MH7604> except<MH2108> the poorest<MH1803b> people<MH5971a> of the land<MH776>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/2_kings/24-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>So he led<MH1540> Jehoiachin<MH3078> into<MH1540> exile<MH1540> to Babylon<MH894>; also the king’s<MH4428> mother<MH517>, the king’s<MH4428> wives<MH802>, and his officials<MH5631> and the leading<MH193b> men<MH193b> of the land<MH776>, he led<MH1980> into exile<MH1473> from Jerusalem<MH3389> to Babylon<MH894>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_kings/24-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>And all<MH3605> the valiant<MH2428> men<MH376>, seven<MH7651> thousand<MH505>, and the craftsmen<MH2796> and the smiths<MH4525>, a thousand<MH505>, all<MH3605> strong<MH1368> <i>and</i> fit<MH6213a> for war<MH4421>, these too the king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894> brought<MH935> into exile<MH1473> to Babylon<MH894>. <p class="hdg">Zedekiah Made King</p><span class="reftext"><a href="/2_kings/24-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>Then the king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894> made<MH4427a> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>his uncle<MH1730> Mattaniah<MH4983> king<MH4427a> in<MH8478> his place<MH8478>, and changed<MH5437> his name<MH8034> to Zedekiah<MH6667>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/2_kings/24-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>Zedekiah<MH6667> was twenty-one<MH6242, 259> years<MH8141> old<MH1121> when he became<MH4427a> king<MH4427a>, and he reigned<MH4427a> for eleven<MH259, 6240> years<MH8141> in Jerusalem<MH3389>; and his mother’s<MH517> name<MH8034> was Hamutal<MH2537> the daughter<MH1323> of Jeremiah<MH3414> of Libnah<MH3841>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_kings/24-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>He did<MH6213a> evil<MH7451a> in the sight<MH5869> of the LORD<MH3068>, in accordance with everything<MH3605> that Jehoiakim<MH3079> had done<MH6213a>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/2_kings/24-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>For <i>it was</i> due<MH5921> to the anger<MH639> of the LORD<MH3068> <i>that this</i> happened<MH1961> in Jerusalem<MH3389> and Judah<MH3063>, until<MH5704> He cast<MH7993> them out<MH7993> of His presence<MH6440>.
