The nine hours of Severin-curated bonus materials shine a spotlight on each film’s historic critical and commercial success, nationwide censorship battles and notoriety as landmark American independent films. Two of his films were made on our properties in Northern CA (Up! was one of them) and one where we kept our boat he filmed Lorna. My Dad invested in Black Snake (went with Russ to Barbados to film it, and has bit parts in several of Russ’ films – shows in credits as Wilfred Kues) and after my Father passed, Russ continued to send Royalty checks to my Son Michael for several years as a return on Dad’s investment. Quite a character, and the world will forever miss the antics of Mr. Meyer. He actually drove his George Patton panel truck to visit my family one Christmas and we bar hopped for an evening when he gifted my original (still sealed) video tapes of all of hit movies (original recordings) and his three volume anthology (in which, of course, my Dad and some comments appear early on). One of the characters in my life, and one of the few with two ceremonies at death. One in Hollywood, and the other in Stockton where he is buried and that my wife and I attended. “I was glad to do it” it says on the tombstone.
