It works with LaTeX, plain TeX, and other TeX variants. It was written by Oren Patashnik as part of the original Stanford TeX project, and is still maintained by him. <h3>Sources</h3> <ul> <li>BibTeX is currently distributed through <a href="/texlive/">TeX Live</a> and other software collections. BibTeX is not distributed as a standalone program. <li>The <a href="/svn/texlive/trunk/Build/extra/bibtex/">Subversion source repository</a> for original BibTeX is contained within <a href="/texlive/">TeX Live</a>, for the developers' convenience. <li>BibTeX is compiled as part of <a href="/svn/texlive/trunk/Build/source/texk/web2c/">Web2C in TeX Live</a> (<a href="/texlive/svn/">retrieve full TL sources</a>). </ul> <h3>Documentation and related</h3> <ul> <li>The <a href="/texmf-docs/bibtex/">original BibTeX documentation</a> is available in TeX Live and elsewhere. <li>Numerous other <a href="https://ctan.org/topic/:B">packages, programs and documents</a> (check the <tt>bib*</tt> entries) relating to BibTeX and bibliographies in TeX have been released; another <a href="/interest.html#bibtex">shorter list</a>. <li>Many bibliography-related <a href="/TUGboat/Contents/listkeyword.html#CatTAGBibliographies">articles have been published in TUGboat</a>, including <a href="/TUGboat/Contents/listauthor.html#Patashnik,Oren">several by Oren</a>. </ul> <h3>Mailing list, bug tracker</h3> <ul> <li>Mailing list for bugs and discussion: <a href="http://lists.tug.org/biblio">biblio@tug.org</a> (<a href="/pipermail/biblio/">archive</a>). When reporting bugs, please include input file(s) and all specified command line options, so the problem can be reproduced.
