volume of traffic in and around on campus<strong> </strong>from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. We appreciate your patience and ask for your help in the following ways: </p><h3>Designated Drop-Off Locations</h3><p>To streamline the drop-off process and minimize congestion, we have established designated drop-off areas on campus. Please use these designated areas, and adhere to the posted signs on the university property, and instructions from Campus Safety.</p><ul><li><strong>Main Entrance Drop-Off Loop</strong>: Please follow the center lane and continue around the curve for drop-off or pick-up. Do not stop on the curve itself as this create a back-up of vehicles and a safety hazard to pedestrians.</li><li><strong>Parking Lot A: </strong>This area can be utilized by parking in a designated spot and waiting for your party to arrive. Parking along the curbside of the parking lot while waiting is not permitted.</li></ul><h3>Easing overall traffic</h3><p>To help alleviate traffic congestion, we encourage the following:</p><ul><li><strong>Consider Public Transit</strong>: Using public transportation can significantly reduce the number of vehicles on campus. Refer to your local transit schedules and routes for convenient options.</li><li><strong>Carpool</strong>: If possible, coordinate with classmates, colleagues, or neighbors to carpool. This can help reduce the number of cars arriving on campus.</li><li><strong>Alternative Arrival Times</strong>: If your schedule allows, try adjusting your arrival or departure times to avoid peak traffic periods. Arriving a bit earlier or later can help you avoid the busiest times.</li><li><strong>Bike or Walk</strong>: For those living nearby, biking or walking to campus is a great option and can help reduce traffic and parking demand.</li></ul><p>We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work to improve the campus experience for everyone.</p><p><em>Starting February, 2024</em>: To prepare for the development of the new SAMIH building and the Retail and Parking Commons, several changes will be taking place on the UTSC North campus, which may impact the day-to-day activities, operations and facility use for staff, faculty, students, and librarians.</p><h2>FAQ for north campus developments:</h2><p><strong>What are the major developments taking place on campus?</strong></p><ul><li><strong>TPASC PARKING LOT:</strong><br>As of October 10, 2023 the TPASC south parking closed down with a new interim parking (the East Lot) located across from the East Entrance to the Centre. The interim East Lot contains the same number of parking spots and will still offer two hours complimentary parking. TPASC parking rates can be found here.</li><li><strong>PAN AM DRIVE ROAD CLOSURE:</strong><br>Part of Pan Am Drive will be closed as of February 23, 2024. The Pan Am Drive road closure will begin at the southeast corner of the TPASC building and end at parking lot G. Note: the TPASC interim parking lot (the East Lot) and parking lots G and H will remain accessible. For individuals who use Pan Am Drive to access the campus, please include additional time for your commute by utilizing re-routes. Please contact Campus Safety if you need assistance with an immediate safety concern 416-287-7398.</p><p><em>Aug 7, 2024 7:44 a.m. : </em>Our Campus Safety team found a suspicious device Tuesday afternoon and immediately alerted Toronto Police Services (TPS). TPS attended the scene and detonated the device. It was found to be a hoax, non-explosive device. They are investigating the incident and we are fully cooperating with them. The Environmental Science & Chemistry Building and the Instructional Centre have now fully re-opened and TPS has stated that there is no risk to public safety. Campus activities will continue as planned. Campus Safety is fully trained to deal with these situations and always has safety as their top priority.  They acted quickly and decisively. It鈥檚 a good reminder that we all need to be vigilant, and we ask that if you do see an unattended item to report it immediately to Campus Safety.
