The book also provides a cognitive pragmatics description of how addressees obtain humorous effects. Although the inferences at work in the processing of normal, non-humorous discourses are the same as those employed in the interpretation of humour, in the latter case these strategies (and also the accessibility of contextual information) are predicted and manipulated by the speaker (or writer) for the sake of generating humorous effects. The book covers aspects of research on humour such as the incongruity-resolution pattern, jokes and stand-up comedy performances. It also offers an explanation of why ironies are sometimes labelled as humorous, and proposes a model for the translation of humorous discourses, an analysis of humour in multimodal discourses such as cartoons and advertisements, and a brief exploration of possible tendencies in relevance-theoretic research on conversational humour."/>

Search Images Maps Play YouTube News Gmail Drive More »

<a href="https://books.google.com.sg/books?id=g4WyCwAAQBAJ&pg=PA357&dq=Yus&hl=en&sa=X&output=html_text" title="Screen reader users: click this link for accessible mode. relevance-theoretic, analysis of different types of humorous discourse, together with the inferential strategies that are at work in the processing of such discourses. It also offers an explanation of why ironies are sometimes labelled as humorous, and proposes a model for the translation of humorous discourses, an analysis of humour in multimodal discourses such as cartoons and advertisements, and a brief exploration of possible tendencies in relevance-theoretic research on conversational humour.
https://www.google.com/accounts/Login?service=print&continue=https://books.google.com.sg/books%3Fop%3Dlibrary&hl=en
https://www.google.com/accounts/Login?service=print&continue=https://books.google.com.sg/books%3Fid%3Dg4WyCwAAQBAJ%26pg%3DPA357%26dq%3DYus%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DX&hl=en
https://books.google.com.sg/books/publisher/content?id=g4WyCwAAQBAJ&pg=PA357&img=1&zoom=3&hl=en&sig=ACfU3U1Y0VgrQPnWyXjGLoETt_IkcDF8Pw
https://books.google.com.sg/books_feedback?id=g4WyCwAAQBAJ&spid=AFLRE72GBHymoU2joeA7yCCS9To-A3LwmW2N_u6rdMiMszEDG0L4g-UdxfUw-znkPqHjMOr6dqSO&ftype=0
Yus
PA361
https://books.google.com.sg/books/publisher/content?id=g4WyCwAAQBAJ&pg=PA361&img=1&zoom=3&hl=en&sig=ACfU3U32zYhlQwdMRzvyll8tjIIoPNmYEQ
PA362
https://books.google.com.sg/books/publisher/content?id=g4WyCwAAQBAJ&pg=PA362&img=1&zoom=3&hl=en&sig=ACfU3U3JRvcmBXB-PWL0t9QrwMVkKoqFUQ"}]},null
Francisco Yus. 4.4 4.5 4.6 4.7 4.8 4.9 Cultural frames 120 Mind reading and predicted humorous effects 121 Make-sense frames and cultural frames in joke interpretation Towards a new typology of jokes: The Intersecting Circles Model 125 ...
Francisco Yus. during interpretation , mostly dominated by inference , i.e. by turning the schematic coded discourse into meaningful and relevant interpretations .
