Occupational exposure to mammalian cells elicit a variety of stress-related signals that lead to the altered expression of multiple genes involved in cell-cycle control, programmed cell death, and in some case DNA repair. Interestingly, key growth-control genes, such as the tumor suppressors p53 and RB and transcription factors such as Egr-1, Nf-kB, play central roles in some of these signaling pathways, and perturbations in their function in many human tumor cells have important implications in carcinogenesis. More interestingly, micro RNAs are also suggested to be involved in the regulating these genes that may act as oncogenic or tumor suppressor gene. Therefore, we aim to understand their function upon stress and ultimately use such genes and gene products as molecular genetic tools to employ novel &quot;gene therapy&quot; for the treatment of malignancies notably lung cancer. &bull;Genetic and epigenetic changes in lung cancer upon genotoxic stress &ndash; microRNA regulation, cell cycle check points, histone methylation &bull;Chemo-preventive mechanism of dietary agents &bull;Free Radical Biology - Role of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species in cancer &bull;Drug Delivery- functionalized nanoparticles and liposomes drug carriers for siRNA and miRNAs" data-original-title=""> Research Interest </a> </nav> </div> </div> </li> <li class="list-group-item px-0"> <div class="row"> <div class="col col-sm-2"> <img src="https://www.longdom.org/admin/editor-photos/journal-of-developing-drugs--john-l-zhou-8811.jpg" alt="John L Zhou" title="John L Zhou" class="img-thumbnail img-fluid" width="100" height="100"> </div> <div class="col col-sm-10"> <p class="card-text font-size-3"> <a href="https://www.longdom.org/editor/john-l-zhou-4586" title="Click here"><strong>John L Zhou</strong></a> <br>Professor, Department of Applied Sciences <br>London South Bank University, UK </p> <nav class="nav a-mx-2"> <a tabindex="0" class="nav-link btn btn-sm btn-outline-info" role="button" data-html="true" data-container="body" data-toggle="popover" title="" data-placement="auto" data-content="John L. This, in turn, provides the basis for beginning to understand drug delivery systems at a more fundamental level. Compounds identified from the library as an active will be further optimized for better activity and toxicity profiles. The optimization will be done through the library synthesis approach, rather than the industry standard approach of solving SAR (structure-activity relationship) problems one molecule at a time. The one-by-one approach may work well in the beginning of the sequence of the drug discovery value chain, but you may run the risk of encountering the initial problems when trying to solve the next problem. One-cycle library iteration will produce a wide range of SAR information including toxicity for the next library design and production. Three to five cycle iterations of libraries will generate advanced compounds with properties to produce the desired in vivo efficacy with acceptable toxicity profile. During my graduate pursue and industrial exposure, I have developed a keen interest in the preformulation and formulation aspect of the drug development. Presently, my research interests involve working on following areas but I am open to learn and collaborate on new ideas and concepts in the field of pharmaceutical sciences. 1. To improve the solubility of different poorly soluble drugs (having different physic-chemical properties) by using approaches such as Solid dispersion, Self emulsifying drug delivery system (SEDDS), Nano-crystal systems and Supersaturated system. The idea is to develop a robust solubilizing technique that can effectively be used during prefomulation and formulation studies for New Chemical Entity (NCE). 2. To explore and characterize Ternary Solid dispersion as an approach to increase solubility and stability. The focus is to explore the combination of potential, used available, safe, FDA approved, well studied polymers. 3. To focus on understanding the precipitation mechanism of poorly soluble drugs in absence and presence of polymers (primarily by drug polymer interaction). The idea is to establish a correlation of drug polymer interaction in solution and its effect on the stabilization of amorphous solid state along with In-Silico prediction of drug polymer interaction by using softwares like Gaussian and Jaguar. Overall, the goal of the study is to help in rationally screening the polymers for improving drug solubility and stability. 4. In the future, I would like to study the effect of important factors like physicochemical properties, crystal form, morphology, seeding, and level of supersaturation etc. of various poorly soluble drugs in presence and absence of different excipients. The idea is to understand the crystallization/precipitation process in detail and apply in above mentioned solubilization techniques. It can help in understanding drug delivery and dosage form design aspects as a lot of excipients are added in formulation during various stages of drug development. 5. Another area of research I wish to pursue is the liposome based delivery systems. These nanocarriers have been well studied across multiple scientific disciplines (medicine, immunology, diagnostics, cosmetics etc.) over the last several decades and are considered one of the most advanced drug delivery systems in terms of development as reflected in the commercialization of liposome delivery systems in the area of oncology. Along with anti-cancer agents, I want to extend the use of liposome in other therapeutic areas such as anti-infectives and anti-inflammatory. Also, pharmaceutical science is one of the interdisciplinary fields where thoughtful collaboration among researchers in academics as well as industry is very important. Through these collaborations a rapid advancement can be made to solve a problem, so I would love to collaborate and make progress in my chosen field." data-original-title=""> Research Interest </a> </nav> </div> </div> </li> <li class="list-group-item px-0"> <div class="row"> <div class="col col-sm-2"> <img src="https://www.longdom.org/admin/editor-photos/journal-of-developing-drugs-dr.-sisir-nandi--26739.jpg" alt="Dr. Sisir Nandi" title="Dr. Sisir Nandi" class="img-thumbnail img-fluid" width="100" height="100"> </div> <div class="col col-sm-10"> <p class="card-text font-size-3"> <a href="https://www.longdom.org/editor/dr-sisir-nandi-4664" title="Click here"><strong>Dr. Sisir Nandi</strong></a> <br>Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Global Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research <br>India </p> <nav class="nav a-mx-2"> <a tabindex="0" class="nav-link btn btn-sm btn-outline-info" role="button" data-html="true" data-container="body" data-toggle="popover" title="" data-placement="auto" data-content="Dr. Sisir Nandi completed Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (CSIR), Kolkata as a CSIR -GATE fellow and had been awarded Ph.
