Nederland</h1> <div class="entry-content"> <p>Expat komt uit het Engels en is een afkorting van expatriate, iemand die voor een internationale organisatie langere tijd in het buitenland woont en werkt.聽Het aantal expats blijft steeds groeien. Daarnaast is het profiel van expats aan het veranderen. Tegenwoordig is bijna een kwart van de expats vrouw. In 1994 was dat maar 10 procent. Exacte cijfers over het aantal expats ontbreken, maar volgens de schattingen werken er tot 200.000 expats in Nederland.</p> <p>E茅n van de redenen dat Nederland een aantrekkelijke vestigingsland is zijn de gunstige financi毛le regelingen die zijn getroffen voor expats. Ze kunnen rekenen op een directe belastingvrijstelling van 30% van hun salaris. Daarnaast betalen expats geen belasting over hun netto vermogen en komen zij wel in aanmerking voor hypotheekrenteaftrek. Naast de verschillende fiscale voordelen staat Nederland werelwijd er goed op als vestigingsland voor een buitenlandse werkervaring. Ook genieten veel expats vergoedingen via werkgevers voor verblijf, studie en training. Door deze maatregelen van de overheid en het bedrijfsleven is Nederland aantrekkelijk voor expats vergeleken met een aantal andere grote landen.</p> <p>Regio Amsterdam, met al haar hoofdkantoren, herbergt de meeste expats; tussen de 50.000 en 100.000 expats. In Den Haag wonen ongeveer 50.000 expats, inclusief partners en kinderen. In deze stad blijft het aantal expats steeds groeien. Den Haag is namelijk rijk aan internationale organisaties zoals het Internationale Gerechtshof, Europol, de VN en het Joegoslavi毛 Tribunaal. Ook multinationals als Shell, Aegon en Siemens halen veel expats naar Den Haag.</p> <p>Andere steden trekken ook steeds meer expats aan. Met name diegenen die met hun gehele gezin hier tijdelijk naartoe verhuizen vinden huisvesting buiten de grote steden. In Amstelveen zou ongeveer tien procent van de bevolking uit expats bestaan.</p> <p>Expats zijn voor veel verhuurders een interessante doelgroep.
