Then he wrote the dream and he spoke the sum of its words <A name="3"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-2.htm#aramaic"><b>2</b></a></span>Daniel answered and said: “I was seeing in a vision of the night, and, behold, the four Spirits of Heaven stirred up the Great Sea <A name="4"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-3.htm#aramaic"><b>3</b></a></span>And four great beasts arose from the sea, and were different, each from the other <A name="5"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-4.htm#aramaic"><b>4</b></a></span>The Kingdom of the Babylonians: The first was like a lion, and had the wings of an eagle. I was seeing that its wings were pulled off, and it was lifted up from the Earth, and it stood upon its feet as a man, and the heart of a man was given to it <A name="6"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-5.htm#aramaic"><b>5</b></a></span>The Kingdom of the Medes: And the second beast was like a wolf , and it stood on one side and three ribs were in its mouth between its teeth, and thus they said to it: ‘Arise, eat much flesh!’ <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-6.htm#aramaic"><b>6</b></a></span>The Kingdom of the Persians: After these I was seeing another beast like a leopard, and it had four wings of a bird on its sides, and this beast had four heads, and authority was given to it <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-7.htm#aramaic"><b>7</b></a></span>The Kingdom of the Greeks: After these things I was seeing in a vision of the night the fourth beast, fearsome and powerful, and extremely mighty, and it had great teeth of iron. It consumed and smashed and it trampled anything profitable with its feet, and this was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten horns <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-8.htm#aramaic"><b>8</b></a></span>And I was considering its horns (Antiochus Epiphanes) and one small horn came up from between them, and three of the former horns were pulled out from before it, [Antiochus] and there were eyes in this horn like the eyes of a son of man, and a mouth speaking great things<p> <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-9.htm#aramaic"><b>9</b></a></span>I was seeing thrones being set, and the Ancient of Days sat down. His clothing was white like snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool. His throne was flames of fire, and its wheels, burning flame of fire<p> <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>A river of fire flowed and went out from before him. Millions were serving him and innumerable multitudes of innumerable multitudes were standing in front of him. The Judge was seated and scrolls were opened<p> <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>I was seeing that this beast was killed and its body was destroyed, and it was given to the burning of fire <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>And the rest of the beasts were taken away from their authority, and length of life was given to them until a time and a season<p> <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>I was seeing on the clouds of Heaven as The Son of the People came and reached the Ancient of Days, and they brought him close before him<p> <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>And to him he gave the authority and the kingdom and the honor of all the nations and the peoples and the languages. him they shall serve. His authority is the authority of eternity, and it does not pass away, and his kingdom is incorruptible<p> <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>My spirit was grieved. I, Daniel, was in my bed, and the visions of my head troubled me <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>And I came near to one of the Ministers, and I inquired of him concerning the truth, concerning all of these things, and he spoke to me in the truth, and he revealed the interpretation of my words to me <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>And he said to me: “These four great beasts that you have seen are four Kings who shall arise from the Earth <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-18.htm#aramaic"><b>18</b></a></span>And the Holy Ones of the Highest shall receive the Kingdom and they shall inherit the Kingdom to eternity, and to the eternity of eternities”<p> <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>Then I wanted to ask about the fourth beast that was different from all the beasts, and very fearsome, its teeth of iron and its claws of brass; it consumed and smashed, and anything that remained it trampled with its feet <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-20.htm#aramaic"><b>20</b></a></span>And about the ten horns that were on its head, and about another that came up from between them, and three fell from before it; and this horn had eyes, and its mouth was speaking great things and its appearance was greater than its companions <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-21.htm#aramaic"><b>21</b></a></span>Antiochus I was seeing this horn made war with the Holy Ones, and it overcame their power <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-22.htm#aramaic"><b>22</b></a></span>Until the Ancient of Days came and he gave judgment to the Holy Ones of the Highest, and the time arrived and the Holy Ones inherited the kingdom”<p> <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-23.htm#aramaic"><b>23</b></a></span>And thus he said to me: “The fourth beast will be the fourth kingdom in the Earth, and it will be greater than all of the kingdoms and will devour all the Earth, and it will tread upon it and it will break it to pieces <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-24.htm#aramaic"><b>24</b></a></span>And the ten horns of the kingdom: ten Kings will arise and another shall arise after them, and he will be greater than the first, and he shall put down three Kings <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-25.htm#aramaic"><b>25</b></a></span>And he shall speak words against the Most High and treachery against the Holy Ones of The Highest, and he will think to change times and laws, and they shall be given into his hand for a season, seasons, and half of a season <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-26.htm#aramaic"><b>26</b></a></span>And the Judge sat and they took his authority away from him that they would ruin him and would destroy him until the end <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-27.htm#aramaic"><b>27</b></a></span>Because the kingdom and authority and the greatness and the kingdom under Heaven is given to the holy people of The Highest. His kingdom is the kingdom of eternity, and all dominions shall fall down and shall be obedient to him<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/daniel/7-28.htm#aramaic"><b>28</b></a></span>Unto here is the end of the word.
