Lex</a></li> </ul><div class="content"> <h1>How to search</h1> <ul> <li>If you want to search laws and regulations of a certain country, select the country from WIPO/WTO/UN Members box.<br/><br/></li> <li>If you want to search laws and regulations on a certain topic, select the topic from Subject Matter box.<br/><br/></li> <li>If you want to search laws and regulations on a certain topic of a certain country, select the appropriate choice in both boxes.<br/><br/></li> <li>If you want to search certain provisions or legal texts containing certain key words, click on a tab “Full Text Search” and type in the key words. Please be aware that the search is done on every word included in the search field individually, not as a phrase, unless quotation marks are used.<br/><br/></li> <li>Once the selection of documents is produced by the search engine, you can further refine your search by Countries, Languages, Subject Matters, and Types of Text.<br/><br/></li> <li>In a search box, a sign “+”or “-“ means an search operator and allows you to search texts as follows:</li> </ul> <p style="padding-left: 30px;">“patent + design” for documents having both the word “patent” and “design”<br/>“patent – design” for  documents having the word “patent” but not “design”</p> <ul> <li>If you key-in more than one word, it searches for documents having those words but not necessarily in that sequence. However, WIPO Lex does not accept long phrases for key word search so please limit the number of words to the maximum of four words.<br/><br/></li> <li>The following examples show certain tips of full text search.</li> </ul> <p style="padding-left: 30px;">Typing design law in the Full Text Search field without quotation marks would produce a list of some 2664 documents.<br/>Typing design law in the Full Text Search field with quotation marks would produce a list of some 88 documents.</p> <ul> <li>Either list can be filtered to show documents of a selected country, in a given language, or of a particular type.
