In October 2023, the Address Supporting Organization Address Council (ASO AC) was asked by the NRO Executive Council to update the ICP-2.

This proposed principles document is the first major step in the ASO AC’s work of revising ICP-2. It sets forth the core principles that the ASO AC believes should be reflected in the next version of ICP-2. In addition to principles on RIR governance, ecosystem, lifecycle, recognition and operation, the document also provides principles for the potential ‘derecognition’ of an RIR if it fails to adhere to the criteria established.

You may view the proposed principles here: https://www.nro.net/policy/internet-coordination-policy-2/proposed-icp-2-version-2-principles/

At this stage, comments are solicited on the principles themselves, rather than specific amendments to the text of the document. The ASO AC will incorporate the comments received to draft a revised version of the ICP-2 document to present to stakeholders for further feedback.

The questionnaire is located at https://ripe-ncc.typeform.com/icp-2 and will take approximately 7 – 10 minutes to complete. Responses can be submitted in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese, the official working languages of the RIRs. Respondents will see the option to choose one of these languages if their browser is not set to English. In line with the extension announced today, the questionnaire will remain open for input until Wednesday, 6 December 2024. For more information, please visit https://www.nro.net/policy/internet-coordination-policy-2/

Public Holiday on 31 October 2024

Please note that Thursday 31 October 2024 is a public holiday in Mauritius.

AFRINIC offices shall be closed on that day.

All membership-related issues can be addressed to:

• new-member@afrinic.net for queries or clarifications regarding how to become an AFRINIC member.
• hostmaster@afrinic.net for additional resources and general queries relating to resource management.

We will be able to attend to your request once we resume our operation.

We further recommend the use of the FAQ section at: https://afrinic.net/support/

For any other contacts click here.

Court Update

The Supreme Court of Mauritius made the following ruling on 15 October 2024.

The ruling sets aside the appeal initiated by AFRINIC on 28 September 2023 and restores the judgement made by the learned Judge of the Commercial Division of the Supreme Court delivered on 12 September 2023.

This ruling also restores the previous order appointing the Official Receiver and providing the Official Receiver with a two-month timeframe to organise the elections in accordance with AFRINIC’s constitution and complete the entire process from the date of this judgement.

On Behalf of the Official Receiver

The NRO Invites Internet Community to Participate in ICP-2 Questionnaire

The Number Resource Organization (NRO), the coordinating body for the global Regional Internet Registries (RIRs), is calling on individuals in the global Internet community to participate in a questionnaire focused on a proposed principles document that will be used to update the Internet Coordination Policy-2 (ICP-2).
