Gonzalo Rivera Talavera</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The importance of public spaces has been shown for many years, and in different disciplines, with one example being their ability for developing a sustainable social environment, especially in mega cities like Lima. The aim of this study was to explore the process of space appropriation that occurs in the Peripheral Library of the district El Agustino in Lima, Peru. Space appropriation is a process by which people develop a link with a place within a specific sociocultural context. This process has been related to positive outcomes, such as: participation and in the development of compassionate behaviors with these places. To achieve the purpose of the research, a qualitative design was selected because this will allowed exploring in deep the process in an specific context. The study interviewed six adults, all of whom were deliberately chosen to have the longest residence time in the district and also utilized the library the most. In a complementary manner, two children and one adolescent were interviewed. Likewise, two observations were made on a weekday and weekend, and public documentation information was collected. As a result, five categories linked to this process were identified. It was found that the process of space appropriation begins with the needs of the people who arrive at the library, which provides benefits to these people by fulfilling them. Next in the process, through the construction of meanings, the library is then valued as a pleasant, productive, safe and regulated place; as a result, people become identified with the library. The identification generated is subsequently reflected in the level of participation that the person has in the library, which may go in a continuum from no participating at all to a more direct involvement in the library activities, as well as voluntary and altruistic work. Finally, this process leads to the library becoming part of the neighborhood. This study allows having a better understanding of how sociospatial processes work in a Latinamerican context and in cities like Lima, where the third of the country’s population lives. Also, Lima has grown in the past 50 years in a excessively way and with lack of planification. Therefore, these results brings new research questions and highlights the importance of learning how to design public spaces in order to promote these processes to develop. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bond%20with%20the%20place" title="bond with the place">bond with the place</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=place%20identity" title=" place identity"> place identity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=public%20spaces" title=" public spaces"> public spaces</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=space%20appropriation" title=" space appropriation"> space appropriation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/86619/public-space-appropriation-of-a-public-peripheric-library-in-el-agustino-lima-metropolitana-a-qualitative-study" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/86619.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">242</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">170</span> The Effect of Fermentation and Germination on the Nutrient and Antinutrient Composition of Lima Bean (Phaseolus lunatus) Flour</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=P.%20N.%20Okeke">P. N. Okeke</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Fermentation and germination of legumes have been an ancient practice. In this study, the influence of fermentation and germination on the chemical properties of Lima bean (Phaseolus lunatus) flour were evaluated. The flours were analyzed for their proximate and mineral composition, using the standard assay methods. The result showed that fermentation and germination increased the moisture, protein and ash content of the flours while fiber, fat and carbohydrate were decreased. The protein level of fermented and germinated lima bean increased from 21.06–26.60%. The minerals: iron, copper, zinc, and phosphorous increased due to germination and fermentation. The phytate and tannin levels were drastically reduced in both the fermented and germinated flours. The result of this study revealed that fermentation and germination makes the nutrient in lima beans more accessible as it reduces the anti-nutrients. It is therefore recommended that lima bean be process accordingly for richer and more bio-availability of the nutrients. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nutrient" title="nutrient">nutrient</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=anti-nutrient" title=" anti-nutrient"> anti-nutrient</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fermented" title=" fermented"> fermented</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=germinated" title=" germinated"> germinated</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lima%20bean%20flour" title=" lima bean flour "> lima bean flour </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22168/the-effect-of-fermentation-and-germination-on-the-nutrient-and-antinutrient-composition-of-lima-bean-phaseolus-lunatus-flour" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22168.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">390</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">169</span> Identify the Renewable Energy Potential through Sustainability Indicators and Multicriteria Analysis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Camila%20Lima">Camila Lima</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Murilo%20Andrade%20Valle"> Murilo Andrade Valle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Patr%C3%ADcia%20Teixeira%20Leite%20Asano"> Patrícia Teixeira Leite Asano</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The growth in demand for electricity, caused by human development, depletion and environmental impacts caused by traditional sources of electricity generation have made new energy sources are increasingly encouraged and necessary for companies in the electricity sector. The use of PGPR has been proven to be an environmentally sound way of increasing crop yields by facilitating plant growth. In the present study, strain improvement of PGPR isolates were carried out by chemical mutagenesis for the improvement of growth and yield of lima bean. Induced mutagenesis is widely used for the selection of microorganisms producing biologically active substances and further improving their activities. Strain improvement is usually done by classical mutagenesis which involves exposing the microbes to chemical or physical mutagens. The strains of Pseudomonas putida 4/1, Azotobacter chroococcum Р-29 and Bacillus subtilis were subjected to mutation process for strain improvement by treatment with a chemical agent (sodium nitrite) to cause mutation and were observed for its consequent action on the seeds germination and plant growth of lima bean (Phaseolus lunatus). Bacterial mutant strains of Pseudomonas putida M-1, Azotobacter chroococcum M-1 and Bacillus subtilis M-1, treated with sodium nitrite in the concentration of 5 mg/ml for 120 min, were found effective to enhance the germination of lima bean seeds compared to parent strains. Moreover, treatment of the lima bean seeds with a mutant strain of Bacillus subtilis M-1 had a significant stimulation effect on plant growth. The length of the stems and roots of lima bean treated with Bacillus subtilis M-1 increased significantly in comparison with parent strain in 1.6 and 1.3 times, respectively. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=chemical%20mutagenesis" title="chemical mutagenesis">chemical mutagenesis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=germination" title=" germination"> germination</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=kidney%20bean" title=" kidney bean"> kidney bean</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=plant%20growth%20promoting%20rhizobacteria%20%28PGPR%29" title=" plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR)"> plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR)</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/100013/effect-of-chemical-mutagen-on-seeds-germination-of-lima-bean" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/100013.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">198</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">166</span> Safety and Maternal Anxiety in Mother&#039;s and Baby&#039;s Sleep: Cross-sectional Study</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rayanne%20Branco%20Dos%20Santos%20Lima">Rayanne Branco Dos Santos Lima</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lorena%20Pinheiro%20Barbosa"> Lorena Pinheiro Barbosa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kamila%20Ferreira%20Lima"> Kamila Ferreira Lima</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Victor%20Manuel%20Tegoma%20Ruiz"> Victor Manuel Tegoma Ruiz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Monyka%20Brito%20Lima%20Dos%20Santos"> Monyka Brito Lima Dos Santos</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maria%20Wendiane%20Gueiros%20Gaspar"> Maria Wendiane Gueiros Gaspar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Luzia%20Camila%20Coelho%20Ferreira"> Luzia Camila Coelho Ferreira</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Leandro%20Cardozo%20Dos%20Santos%20Brito"> Leandro Cardozo Dos Santos Brito</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Deyse%20Maria%20Alves%20Rocha"> Deyse Maria Alves Rocha</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Introduction: The lack of regulation of the baby's sleep-wake pattern in the first years of life affects the health of thousands of women. Maternal sleep deprivation can trigger or aggravate psychosomatic problems such as depression, anxiety and stress that can directly influence maternal safety, with consequences for the baby's and mother's sleep. Such conditions can affect the family's quality of life and child development. Objective: To correlate maternal security with maternal state anxiety scores and the mother's and baby's total sleep time. Method: Cross-sectional study carried out with 96 mothers of babies aged 10 to 24 months, accompanied by nursing professionals linked to a Federal University in Northeast Brazil. Study variables were maternal security, maternal state anxiety scores, infant latency and sleep time, and total nocturnal sleep time of mother and infant. Maternal safety was calculated using a four-point Likert scale (1=not at all safe, 2=somewhat safe, 3=very safe, 4=completely safe). Maternal anxiety was measured by State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, state-anxiety subscale whose scores vary from 20 to 80 points, and the higher the score, the higher the anxiety levels. Scores below 33 are considered mild; from 33 to 49, moderate and above 49, high. As for the total nocturnal sleep time, values between 7-9 hours of sleep were considered adequate for mothers, and values between 9-12 hours for the baby, according to the guidelines of the National Sleep Foundation. For the sleep latency time, a time equal to or less than 20 min was considered adequate. It is noteworthy that the latency time and the time of night sleep of the mother and the baby were obtained by the mother's subjective report. To correlate the data, Spearman's correlation was used in the statistical package R version 3.6.3. Results: 96 women and babies participated, aged 22 to 38 years (mean 30.8) and 10 to 24 months (mean 14.7), respectively. The average of maternal security was 2.89 (unsafe); Mean maternal state anxiety scores were 43.75 (moderate anxiety). The babies' average sleep latency time was 39.6 min (>20 min). The mean sleep times of the mother and baby were, respectively, 6h and 42min and 8h and 19min, both less than the recommended nocturnal sleep time. Maternal security was positively correlated with maternal state anxiety scores (rh=266, p=0.009) and negatively correlated with infant sleep latency (rh= -0.30. P=0.003). Baby sleep time was positively correlated with maternal sleep time. (rh 0.46, p<0.001). Conclusion: The more secure the mothers considered themselves, the higher the anxiety scores and the shorter the baby's sleep latency. Also, the longer the baby sleeps, the longer the mother sleeps. Thus, interventions are needed to promote the quality and efficiency of sleep for both mother and baby. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sleep" title="sleep">sleep</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=anxiety" title=" anxiety"> anxiety</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=infant" title=" infant"> infant</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mother-child%20relations" title=" mother-child relations"> mother-child relations</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/167836/safety-and-maternal-anxiety-in-mothers-and-babys-sleep-cross-sectional-study" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/167836.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">102</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">165</span> Multiannual Trends of Toxic and Potentially Toxic Microalgae (Ostreopsis cf. ovata, Prorocentrum lima, and Coolia monotis) in Sfax Coasts (North of Gabes Gulf, Tunisia)</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Moncer%20Malika">Moncer Malika</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ben%20Brahim%20Mounir"> Ben Brahim Mounir</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bel%20Hassen%20Malika"> Bel Hassen Malika</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hamza%20Asma"> Hamza Asma</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> During the last decades, microalgae communities have presented significant changes in their structure and taxa composition along the Mediterranean littoral shallow waters. The studied microalgae, especially Prorocentrum lima, seem to have significant relationships with many physicochemicaland meteorological parameters. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=long-term%20monitoring%20HABs" title="long-term monitoring HABs">long-term monitoring HABs</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=physico-chemical%20parameters" title=" physico-chemical parameters"> physico-chemical parameters</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=meteorological%20parameters" title=" meteorological parameters"> meteorological parameters</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Prorocentrum%20lima" title=" Prorocentrum lima"> Prorocentrum lima</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ostreopsis%20cf.%20ovata" title=" Ostreopsis cf. ovata"> Ostreopsis cf. ovata</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Coolia%20monotis" title=" Coolia monotis"> Coolia monotis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/163619/multiannual-trends-of-toxic-and-potentially-toxic-microalgae-ostreopsis-cf-ovata-prorocentrum-lima-and-coolia-monotis-in-sfax-coasts-north-of-gabes-gulf-tunisia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/163619.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">133</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">164</span> Evaluating Hourly Sulphur Dioxide and Ground Ozone Simulated with the Air Quality Model in Lima, Peru</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Od%C3%B3n%20R.%20S%C3%A1nchez-Ccoyllo">Odón R. The objective of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of the air-quality-WRF-Chem model with a horizontal resolution of 5 km x 5 km. For this purpose, the measurements of the hourly SO₂ and O₃ concentrations available in three air quality monitoring stations in Lima, Peru were used for the purpose of validating the simulations of the SO₂ and O₃ concentrations obtained with the WRF-Chem model in February 2018. For the quantitative evaluation of the simulations of these gases, statistical techniques were implemented, such as the average of the simulations; the average of the measurements; the Mean Bias (MeB); the Mean Error (MeE); and the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE). The results of these statistical metrics indicated that the simulated SO₂ and O₃ values over-predicted the SO₂ and O₃ measurements. For the SO₂ concentration, the MeB values varied from 0.58 to 26.35 µg/m³; the MeE values varied from 8.75 to 26.5 µg/m³; the RMSE values varied from 13.3 to 31.79 µg/m³; while for O₃ concentrations the statistical values of the MeB varied from 37.52 to 56.29 µg/m³; the MeE values varied from 37.54 to 56.70 µg/m³; the RMSE values varied from 43.05 to 69.56 µg/m³. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ground-ozone" title="ground-ozone">ground-ozone</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lima" title=" lima"> lima</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sulphur%20dioxide" title=" sulphur dioxide"> sulphur dioxide</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=WRF-chem" title=" WRF-chem"> WRF-chem</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/154756/evaluating-hourly-sulphur-dioxide-and-ground-ozone-simulated-with-the-air-quality-model-in-lima-peru" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/154756.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">137</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">163</span> Mapping of Traffic Noise in Riyadh City-Saudi Arabia </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Khaled%20A.%20Alsaif">Khaled A. The South American Emissions Megacities, and Climate project (SAEMC) has focused on the study of emissions and its influence on climate in the South American largest cities and it also included Lima (Peru) and Medellin (Colombia), sites where few studies of the genre were done. Lima is a coastal city with more than 8 million inhabitants and the second largest city in South America. Medellin is a 2.5 million inhabitants city and second largest city in Colombia; it is situated in a valley. The samples were collected in quartz fiber filters in high volume samplers (Hi-Vol), in 24 hours of sampling. The samples were collected in intensive campaigns in both sites, in July, 2010. Several species were determined in the aerosol samples of Lima and Medellin. Organic and elemental carbon (OC and EC) in thermal-optical analysis; biomass burning tracers (levoglucosan - Lev, mannosan - Man and galactosan - Gal) in high-performance anion exchange ion chromatography with mass spectrometer detection; water soluble ions in ion chromatography. The average particulate matter was similar for both campaigns, the PM10 concentrations were above the recommended by World Health Organization (50 µg m⁻³ – daily limit) in 40% of the samples in Medellin, while in Lima it was above that value in 15% of the samples. The average total ions concentration was higher in Lima (17450 ng m⁻³ in Lima and 3816 ng m⁻³ in Medellin) and the average concentrations of sodium and chloride were higher in this site, these species also had better correlations (Pearson’s coefficient = 0,63); suggesting a higher influence of marine aerosol in the site due its location in the coast. Sulphate concentrations were also much higher at Lima site; which may be explained by a higher influence of marine originated sulphate. However, the OC, EC and monosaccharides average concentrations were higher at Medellin site; this may be due to the lower dispersion of pollutants due to the site’s location and a larger influence of biomass burning sources. The levoglucosan average concentration was 95 ng m⁻³ for Medellin and 16 ng m⁻³ and OC was well correlated with levoglucosan (Pearson’s coefficient = 0,86) in Medellin; suggesting a higher influence of biomass burning over the organic aerosol in this site. The Lev/Man ratio is often related to the type of biomass burned and was close to 18, similar to the observed in previous studies done at biomass burning impacted sites in the Amazon region; backward trajectories also suggested the transport of aerosol from that region. Biomass burning appears to have a larger influence on the air quality in Medellin, in addition the vehicular emissions; while Lima showed a larger influence of marine aerosol during the study period. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aerosol%20transport" title="aerosol transport">aerosol transport</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=atmospheric%20particulate%20matter" title=" atmospheric particulate matter"> atmospheric particulate matter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biomass%20burning" title=" biomass burning"> biomass burning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SAEMC%20project" title=" SAEMC project"> SAEMC project</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/52007/aerosol-chemical-composition-in-urban-sites-a-comparative-study-of-lima-and-medellin" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/52007.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">263</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">161</span> Long Term Follow-Up, Clinical Outcomes and Quality of Life after Total Arterial Revascularisation versus Conventional Coronary Surgery: A Retrospective Study</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jitendra%20Jain">Jitendra Jain</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cassandra%20Hidajat"> Cassandra Hidajat</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hansraj%20Riteesh%20Bookun"> Hansraj Riteesh Bookun</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Graft patency underpins long-term prognosis after coronary artery bypass grafting surgery (CABG). The benefits of the combined use of only the left internal mammary artery and radial artery, referred to as total arterial revascularisation (TAR), on long-term clinical outcomes and quality of life are relatively unknown. The aim of this study was to identify whether there were differences in long term clinical outcomes between recipients of TAR compared to a cohort of mostly arterial revascularization involving the left internal mammary, at least one radial artery and at least one saphenous vein graft. A retrospective analysis was performed on all patients who underwent TAR or were re-vascularized with supplementary saphenous vein graft from February 1996 to December 2004. Telephone surveys were conducted to obtain clinical outcome parameters including major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) and Short Form (SF-36v2) Health Survey responses. A total of 176 patients were successfully contacted to obtain postop follow up results. The mean follow-up length from time of surgery in our study was TAR 12.4&plusmn;1.8 years and conventional 12.6&plusmn;2.1. PCS score was TAR 45.9&plusmn;8.8 vs LIMA/Rad/ SVG 44.9&plusmn;9.2 (p=0.468) and MCS score was TAR 52.0&plusmn;8.9 vs LIMA/Rad/SVG 52.5&plusmn;9.3 (p=0.723). After two decades of implementation, very little is known about the effects this policy has on the quality of the neighborhoods it produces and on the development of cities in general. Using the capital of Peru -where the solution originated- as a case study, this paper illustrates the negative outcomes this policy has on urban development arguing that land titling encourages 1) expansion of the city often to areas of high physical risk, 2) production of precarious housing on unserviced land, and 3) practices of illegal land trafficking. The evidence is based on interviews with community leaders and officials working at the Cooperation for Formalization of Informal Property (COFOPRI), comparison of satellite images documenting the expansion of Lima in the past twenty years, and a technical evaluation of dozens of houses that have been or are in the process of being granted a land title. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=COFOPRI" title="COFOPRI">COFOPRI</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=De%20Soto" title=" De Soto"> De Soto</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=housing%20policies" title=" housing policies"> housing policies</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=land%20titling" title=" land titling"> land titling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=land%20trafficking" title=" land trafficking"> land trafficking</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lima" title=" Lima"> Lima</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Peru" title=" Peru"> Peru</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=precarious%20housing" title=" precarious housing"> precarious housing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20expansion" title=" urban expansion"> urban expansion</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88211/from-de-sotos-solution-to-urban-disaster-the-effects-of-land-titling-policies-on-the-development-of-cities-of-the-global-south-in-the-case-of-lima-peru" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88211.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">187</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">159</span> Digital Transformation: The Effect of Artificial Intelligence on the Efficiency of Financial Administrative Workers in Peru in 2024</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Thiago%20Fabrizio%20Gavilano%20Farje">Thiago Fabrizio Gavilano Farje</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marcelo%20Patricio%20Herrera%20Malpartida"> Marcelo Patricio Herrera Malpartida</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study examines the influence of artificial intelligence (AI) on the work efficiency of administrative employees in the financial sector of Metropolitan Lima, Peru, during the year 2024. Focusing on the relationship between AI implementation and work efficiency, it addresses specific variables such as decision-making, motivation, and employee productivity. To accomplish the analysis between AI and work efficiency within the financial sector of Metropolitan Lima, it is necessary to evaluate how AI optimizes time in administrative tasks, examine how AI impacts the agility of the process of making decisions, and investigate the influence of AI on the satisfaction and motivation of employees. The research adopts a correlational and explanatory approach, designed to establish and understand the connections between AI and work efficiency. A survey design adapted from an OECD study is used, applying questionnaires to a representative sample of administrative workers in the financial sector who incorporate AI into their functions. The target population includes administrative workers in the financial sector of Metropolitan Lima, estimated at 73,097 employees based on data from the Censo Nacional de Empresas y Establecimientos and studies by the BCRP. The sample, selected through simple random sampling, comprises 246 workers. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=business%20management" title="business management">business management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=artificial%20intelligence" title=" artificial intelligence"> artificial intelligence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=decision%20making" title=" decision making"> decision making</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=labor%20efficiency" title=" labor efficiency"> labor efficiency</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=financial%20sector" title=" financial sector"> financial sector</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/188226/digital-transformation-the-effect-of-artificial-intelligence-on-the-efficiency-of-financial-administrative-workers-in-peru-in-2024" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/188226.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">48</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">158</span> Health Literacy and Knowledge Related to Tuberculosis among Outpatients at a Referral Hospital in Lima, Peru</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rosalina%20Penaloza">Rosalina Penaloza</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Joanna%20Navarro"> Joanna Navarro</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pauline%20Jolly"> Pauline Jolly</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Anna%20Junkins"> Anna Junkins</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Carlos%20Seas"> Carlos Seas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Larissa%20Otero"> Larissa Otero</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: Tuberculosis (TB) case detection in Peru relies on passive case finding. This strategy relies on the assumption that the community is aware that a persistent cough is a possible symptom of TB and that formal health care needs to be sought. Despite its importance, health knowledge specific to TB is underexplored in Peru. This study aimed to assess health literacy and level of TB knowledge among outpatients attending a referral hospital in Lima, Peru. The goal was to ascertain knowledge gaps in key areas relating to TB, to identify and prioritize subgroups for intervention, and to provide insight for policy and community interventions considering health literacy. Methods: An observational cross-sectional study was conducted using a survey to measure sociodemographic factors, tuberculosis knowledge, and health literacy. Bivariate and Multivariate logistic regression was performed to study the associations between variables and to account for potential confounders. The study was conducted at Hospital Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru from June – August 2017. Results: 272 participants were included in the analysis. 57.7% knew someone who had had TB before, 9% had had TB in the past. Two weeks a cough was correctly identified as a symptom that could be TB by 69.1%. High TB knowledge was found among 149 (54.8%) participants. High health literacy was found among 193 (71.0%) participants. Health literacy and TB knowledge were not significantly associated (OR 0.9 (95%CI 0.5-1.5)). After controlling for sex, age, district, education, health insurance, frequency of hospital visits and previous TB diagnosis: High TB knowledge was associated with knowing someone with TB (aOR 2.7 (95%CI 1.6-4.7)) and being a public transport driver, (aOR 0.2 (95%CI 0.05-0.9)). Not being poor was the single factor associated with high health literacy (aOR 3.8 (95%CI 1.6-8.9)). Conclusions: TB knowledge was fair, though 30% did not know the most important symptom of TB. Tailoring educational strategies to risk groups may enhance passive case detection especially amongst transport workers in Lima, Peru. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=health%20literacy" title="health literacy">health literacy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Peru" title=" Peru"> Peru</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tuberculosis" title=" tuberculosis"> tuberculosis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tuberculosis%20knowledge" title=" tuberculosis knowledge"> tuberculosis knowledge</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89351/health-literacy-and-knowledge-related-to-tuberculosis-among-outpatients-at-a-referral-hospital-in-lima-peru" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89351.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">505</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">157</span> Nutritional Impact in Patients Who Underwent Sleeve-Type Bariatric Surgery</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Melissa%20Mattos">Melissa Mattos</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Camila%20Lima"> Camila Lima</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ibraim%20Castro"> Ibraim Castro</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Augusto%20Carioca"> Augusto Carioca</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Saulo%20Magalh%C3%A3es"> Saulo Magalhães</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Paula%20Freitas"> Paula Freitas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Keciany%20Oliveira"> Keciany Oliveira</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Obesity is a chronic, multifactorial, relapsing disease that has increased dramatically over the years. Its control is considered a public health issue, and more and more treatments and interventions are being studied to reduce its prevalence. When interventions in lifestyle and the use of drugs do not generate lasting results, bariatric procedures emerge as a resource for obesity control. The main guidelines for the treatment of obesity emphasize the need for pre-procedure and post-procedure nutritional monitoring to avoid nutritional deficiencies that may occur. The individual who undergoes bariatric surgery needs to understand the changes that will be necessary for life in view of the intense anatomical and metabolic changes that result from surgical techniques. To assess the nutritional profile of patients who undergo bariatric surgery, we analyzed data from the medical records of all people who underwent sleeve-type bariatric surgery from January to June 2022 at a clinic in the City of Fortaleza. 38 patients were analyzed, 32 women and 6 men in the pre-surgical period, 6 and 12 months after surgery. The data showed an average weight loss of 24.45% at 6 months and 30.85% at 12 months, with a reduction of 21.32% and 30.41%, respectively, in the fat percentage, also indicating that 13.15% used drugs for weight loss during this period, leading to reflection on the isolated long-term efficacy of bariatric surgery, requiring multidisciplinary follow-up for a change in lifestyle. Only 12 individuals, corresponding to 31.57%, reached eutrophic BMI 12 months after surgery, 20 individuals remained overweight, corresponding to 52.63% of the sample, and 6 individuals (15.78%) remained in the BMI obese class I. As for body composition, there was a 52.39% reduction in fat mass and a 12.82% reduction in muscle mass, and 21% of individuals underwent cholecystectomy. Sleeve-type bariatric surgery promoted significant weight loss after 1 year of the procedure, with a reduction in body fat percentage and fat mass. Most patients were still overweight and had a significant reduction in muscle mass. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bariatric%20surgery" title="bariatric surgery">bariatric surgery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sleeve%20gastrectomy" title=" sleeve gastrectomy"> sleeve gastrectomy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=obesity" title=" obesity"> obesity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sleeve" title=" sleeve"> sleeve</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/172261/nutritional-impact-in-patients-who-underwent-sleeve-type-bariatric-surgery" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/172261.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">68</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">156</span> Microthermometry of Carbonated Rocks of the Hondita-Lomagorda Formations, the Tiger Cave Sector, Municipality of Yaguara, Colombia</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Camila%20Lozano-Vivas">Camila Lozano-Vivas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Camila%20Quevedo-Villamil"> Camila Quevedo-Villamil</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ingrid%20Munoz-Quijano"> Ingrid Munoz-Quijano</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Diego%20Loaiza"> Diego Loaiza</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Colombia's limited oil reserves make the finding of new fields of extraction or the potentiate of the existing ones a more important task to do every day; the exploration projects that allow to have a better knowledge of the oil basins are essential. The upper Magdalena Valley basin - VSM, whose reserves are limited, has been one of the first basins for the exploration and production of hydrocarbons in Colombia. The Hondita and Lomagorda formations were deposited in the Late Cretaceous Middle Albian to the Coniacian and are characterized by being the hydrocarbon-generating rocks in the VSM basin oil system along with the Shale de Bambucá; therefore multiple studies have been made. In the oil industry, geochemical properties are used to understand the origin, migration, accumulation, and alteration of hydrocarbons and, in general, the evolution of the basin containing them. One of the most important parameters to understand this evolution is the formation temperature of the oil system. For this reason, a microthermometric study of fluid inclusions was carried out to recognize formation temperatures and to determine certain basic physicochemical variables, homogenization temperature, pressure, density and salinity of the fluid at the time of entrapment, providing evidence on the history of different events in different geological environments in the evolution of a sedimentary basin. Prior to this study, macroscopic and microscopic petrographic analyses of the samples collected in the field were performed. The results of the mentioned properties of the fluid inclusions in the different samples analyzed have salinities ranging from 20.22% to 26.37% eq. by weight NaCl, similar densities found in the ranges of 1.05 to 1.16 g/cc and an average homogenization temperature at 142.92°C, indicating that, at the time of their entanglement, the rock was in the window of generation of medium hydrocarbons –light with fragile characteristics of the rock that would make it useful to treat them as naturally fractured reservoirs. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=homogenization%20temperature" title="homogenization temperature">homogenization temperature</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fluid%20inclusions" title=" fluid inclusions"> fluid inclusions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=microthermometry" title=" microthermometry"> microthermometry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=salinity" title=" salinity"> salinity</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/122651/microthermometry-of-carbonated-rocks-of-the-hondita-lomagorda-formations-the-tiger-cave-sector-municipality-of-yaguara-colombia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/122651.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">148</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">155</span> Use of Residues from Water Treatment and Porcelain Coatings Industry for Producing Eco-Bricks</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Flavio%20Araujo">Flavio Araujo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fabiolla%20Lima"> Fabiolla Lima</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Julio%20Lima"> Julio Lima</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Paulo%20Scalize"> Paulo Scalize</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Antonio%20Albuquerque"> Antonio Albuquerque</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Heitor%20Reis"> Heitor Reis</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> One of the great environmental problems in the management of water treatment (WTP) is on the disposal of waste generated during the treatment process. Operation was done on 11.03.14. The The Left Internal Mammary Artery (LIMA) and the Right Internal Mammary Artery (RIMA) were harvested in skeletonized manner. The free RIMA was then anastomosed with LIMA to make LIMA-RIMA Y. Cardio Pulmonary Bypass was then established and coronary artery bypass grafts performed. LIMA was anastomosed to the Left Anterior Descending artery. RIMA was anastomosed to Posterior Descending Artery, 1st and 2nd Obtuse Marginal arteries in a sequential manner. Abdomen was opened by midline incision. The infrarenal aorta exposed and was found to be severely diseased. A Vascular Clamp was applied infrarenally, aortotomy done and limited endarterectomy performed. An end-to-side anastomosis was done with upper end of PTFE synthetic Y-graft (14/7 mm) to the infarenal Aorta and the Clamp released. Good flow noted in both limbs of the graft. Patient was then slowly weaned off from Cardio Pulmonary Bypass without difficulty. The distal two limbs of the Y graft were passed to the groin through retroperitoneal tunnels and anastomosed end-to-side with the common femoral arteries. Saphenous vein was interposed between common femoral and popliteal arteries bilaterally through subfascial tunnels in both thigh. On 12th postoperative day he was discharged from hospital in good general condition. Therefore, this work is focused on showing and evaluating a system that integrates all these technologies considering the context of a smart house. To achieve this, we define an architecture capable of supporting the amount of data generated and consumed at a residence and, mainly, the variety of this data presents. We organize it in a particular cloud containing information about robots, recreational vehicles, weather, in addition to data from the house, such as lighting, energy, security, among others. The proposed architecture can be extrapolated to various scenarios and applications. Traditional parametric methods require the formulation of an explicit risk-neutral model and are operational only for a few probability distributions for the returns of the underlying. In our proposal, we make only mild assumptions on the pricing kernel and there is no need for the formulation of the risk-neutral model for the returns. First, we simulate sample paths for the returns under the physical distribution. Then, based on the empirical Esscher transform, the sample is reweighted, giving rise to a risk-neutralized sample from which derivative prices can be obtained by a weighted sum of the options pay-offs in each path. We compare our proposal with some traditional parametric pricing methods in four experiments with artificial and real data. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=esscher%20transform" title="esscher transform">esscher transform</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=generalized%20autoregressive%20Conditional%20Heteroscedastic%20%28GARCH%29" title=" generalized autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedastic (GARCH)"> generalized autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedastic (GARCH)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nonparametric%20option%20pricing" title=" nonparametric option pricing"> nonparametric option pricing</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/20964/nonparametric-estimation-of-risk-neutral-densities-via-empirical-esscher-transform" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/20964.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">489</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">149</span> Cultural Identity in Environmental Protection Areas of Nova Friburgo: Heritage, Tourism, and Traditions</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Camila%20Dazzi">Camila Dazzi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Crisitiane%20Passos%20de%20Mattos"> Crisitiane Passos de Mattos</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Thiago%20Leite"> Thiago Leite</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The paper discusses the cultural identity of the communities located in Environmental Protection Area (APAs), in the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro, constituted almost entirely by descendants of Swiss immigrants who arrived in Brazil in the nineteenth century. There are clarity graduations of the statutory text that might induce different specialization levels of the judges. A major problem stemming from that tension is a greater discretion without a proportional specialization. The normative clarity, although its absence can be overcome through specialization, avoids problems related to disproportionate discretion and judicial dissonance. When judicial interpretation deals with the lack of legal clarity, a significant juridical insecurity frame is verified. Decisional uniformity mechanisms are created in order to surpass these problems. Brazil brings great examples, such as the súmulas, the enunciados, and the súmulas vinculantes. Despite of the resistance presented to the latter, mainly based on judges’ independence, even countries of the Common Law tradition develop such mechanisms. The British Guidelines face the lack of legal clarity problem and promote a decisional consonance system. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=generalist%20judges" title="generalist judges">generalist judges</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=institutional%20capacities" title=" institutional capacities"> institutional capacities</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=normative%20clarity" title=" normative clarity"> normative clarity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=normative%20discretion" title=" normative discretion"> normative discretion</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22886/the-relevance-of-the-generalist-judges-discretionary-limits-in-the-institutional-debate" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22886.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">480</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">147</span> Intensification of Ethyl Esters Synthesis Using a Packed-Bed Tubular Reactor at Supercritical Conditions</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Camila%20da%20Silva">Camila da Silva</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Simone%20Belorte%20de%20Andrade"> Simone Belorte de Andrade</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Vitor%20Augusto%20dos%20Santos%20Garcia"> Vitor Augusto dos Santos Garcia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Vladimir%20Ferreira%20Cabral"> Vladimir Ferreira Cabral</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=J.%20Vladimir%20Oliveira%20L%C3%BAcio%20Cardozo-Filho"> J. Results showed that ethyl esters yields obtained in the PBTR were higher (&gt; 20 wt%) than those verified in a tubular reactor (TR), due to improved mass transfer conditions attained in the PBTR. Results demonstrated that temperature, pressure, oil to ethanol molar ratio and water concentration had a positive effect on fatty acid ethyl esters (FAEE) production in the experimental range investigated, with appreciable reaction yields (90 wt%) achieved at 598 K, 20 MPa, oil to ethanol molar ratio of 1:40 and 10 wt% of water concentration. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=packed%20bed%20reactor" title="packed bed reactor">packed bed reactor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ethyl%20esters" title=" ethyl esters"> ethyl esters</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=continuous%20process" title=" continuous process"> continuous process</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=catalyst-free%20process" title=" catalyst-free process"> catalyst-free process</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/20326/intensification-of-ethyl-esters-synthesis-using-a-packed-bed-tubular-reactor-at-supercritical-conditions" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/20326.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">525</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">146</span> The Use of Artificial Intelligence to Curb Corruption in Brazil</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Camila%20Penido%20Gomes">Camila Penido Gomes</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Over the past decade, an emerging body of research has been pointing to artificial intelligence´s great potential to improve the use of open data, increase transparency and curb corruption in the public sector. Nonetheless, studies on this subject are scant and usually lack evidence to validate AI-based technologies´ effectiveness in addressing corruption, especially in developing countries. Aiming to fill this void in the literature, this paper sets out to examine how AI has been deployed by civil society to improve the use of open data and prevent congresspeople from misusing public resources in Brazil. Building on the current debates and carrying out a systematic literature review and extensive document analyses, this research reveals that AI should not be deployed as one silver bullet to fight corruption. Instead, this technology is more powerful when adopted by a multidisciplinary team as a civic tool in conjunction with other strategies. This study makes considerable contributions, bringing to the forefront discussion a more accurate understanding of the factors that play a decisive role in the successful implementation of AI-based technologies in anti-corruption efforts. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=artificial%20intelligence" title="artificial intelligence">artificial intelligence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=civil%20society%20organization" title=" civil society organization"> civil society organization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=corruption" title=" corruption"> corruption</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=open%20data" title=" open data"> open data</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transparency" title=" transparency"> transparency</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/146059/the-use-of-artificial-intelligence-to-curb-corruption-in-brazil" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/146059.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">205</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">145</span> Socioterritorial Inequalities in a Region of Chile. We looked over a wide-ranging set of secondary data from public sources regarding economic activities, poverty, employment, income, years of education, post-secondary education access, green areas, access to potable water, and others. We found sharp socioterritorial inequalities especially based on the economic performance in each territory. Analysis show, on the one hand, the existence of a dual and unorganized development model in some territories with a strong economic activity -especially in the areas of finance, real estate, mining, and vineyards- but, at the same time, with poor social indicators. On the other hand, most of the territories show a dispersed model with very little dynamic economic activities and very poor social development. Finally, we discuss how socioterritorial inequalities in the region of Valparaiso reflect the level of globalization of the economic activities carried on in every territory. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=socioterritorial%20inequalities" title="socioterritorial inequalities">socioterritorial inequalities</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=development%20model" title=" development model"> development model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chile" title=" Chile"> Chile</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=secondary%20data" title=" secondary data"> secondary data</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Region%20of%20Valparaiso" title=" Region of Valparaiso"> Region of Valparaiso</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/145588/socioterritorial-inequalities-in-a-region-of-chile-beyond-the-geography" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/145588.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">100</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">144</span> Oral Biofilm and Stomatitis Denture: Local Implications and Cardiovascular Risks</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Adriana%20B.%20Ribeiro">Adriana B. This study evaluated salivary parameters, blood pressure (BP) and heart rate variability (HRV), before and after DRS treatment in edentulous patients (n=14). Collection of unstimulated and stimulated saliva, as well as blood pressure (BP) measurements and electrocardiogram recordings were performed before and after 10 days of DRS treatment. The salivary flow (mL/min) was found similar at both times while pH was smaller (more neutral) after treatment (7.3 ± 2.2 vs. 7.1 ± 0.24). Systolic BP (mmHg) showed a trend, but not a significant reduction after DRS treatment (158 ± 25.68 vs. 148 ± 16,72, p=0,062) while diastolic BP was found similar in both times (86 ± 13.93 and 84 ± 9.38). Overall HRV, measured by standard deviation of RR intervals was not affected by DRS treatment (24 ± 4 vs 18 ± 2 ms), but differences of successive RR intervals (an index of parasympathetic cardiac modulation) increased after the treatment (26 ± 4 vs 19 ± 2 ms). Moreover, another index of vagal modulation of the heart, the power of RR interval spectra at high-frequency, was also markedly higher after DRS treatment (236 ± 63 vs 135 ± 32 ms²). Such findings strongly suggest that DRS is linked to an autonomic imbalance with sympathetic overactivity, which is markedly deleterious, increasing cardiovascular risk and the incidence of diseases such as hypertension. By means of analytical thought, the objective is to approach topics such as the rediscovery of the body, the reinvention of sexuality and link them to the liability that health personnel have to inform people about the options they have to decide over their health and body. The medicalization of sexed bodies in both psychosocial and anatomo-morpho-physiological dimensions from a legal standpoint were analyzed. Its also explored the gender stereotypes established by society and the role of laws in guaranteeing the right of autonomy that takes on greater relevance in DSD. Through this analysis, it was concluded that despite intersexuality having been analyzed by Colombia’s Constitutional Court, that it is stated as a fair entity, the stigmatization by society has not allowed these individuals to belong to an egalitarian context in which everyone has the same opportunities of access to the goods and services that they need. This leads individuals to hide their identity and expression of genre in order to be accepted in a set of contexts. Thus creating a vulnerability that the health system must be able to identify and in which it is necessary to intervene at a biopsychosocial level, in order to guarantee the protection of the individual within an unquestionable frame of equality and solidarity. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=disorders%20of%20sex%20development" title="disorders of sex development">disorders of sex development</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gender%20identity" title=" gender identity"> gender identity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sexuality" title=" sexuality"> sexuality</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transgender%20persons" title=" transgender persons"> transgender persons</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/106312/body-sex-and-culture-gender-dissidences-through-cinema" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/106312.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">192</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">142</span> Non–Geometric Sensitivities Using the Adjoint Method</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marcelo%20Hayashi">Marcelo Hayashi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jo%C3%A3o%20Lima"> João Lima</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bruno%20Chieregatti"> Bruno Chieregatti</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ernani%20Volpe"> Ernani Volpe</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The adjoint method has been used as a successful tool to obtain sensitivity gradients in aerodynamic design and optimisation for many years.
