The pen has a 1/3 inch CMOS camera that captures AVI video in 360 x 280 resolution and stores it on the built-in 2Gb flash memory. While it can record for more than six hours, the built-in rechargeable Li-ion battery limits recording to three hours per session, which is still likely to be more than adequate in most Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) will be celebrating its 50th anniversary at a conference in Washington today where it will reflect on the accomplishments of the last 50 years and the challenges of the future. DARPA’s mission is to prevent technological surprise for the United States and to create technological surprise for adversaries. A brief recap of its achievements verifies a job well done – the technologies it has developed have changed the face of warfare, catalyzed the information revolution, and continue to have a massive influence on the evolution of technology in daily life. Now a collaboration between GRO design and Tim modelmakers has resulted in an overhaul of the design that aims to inject new life into the game and transform the football table from a bulky eye-sore into an attractive object d' art that complements modern interior spaces. Known as "11- the beautiful game", the strongly sculpted table incorporates minimalist design, a subtle use of light an dazzling white and chrome materials on the playing surface contrasting the dark exterior in an effort to bring the dynamics and drama of the game to the fore. ..

Tags: Design

Related Articles: They also use a lot of energy — representing almost 40 percent of a typical city’s electricity spending. Echelon Corporation announced at the 2008 Light+Building event in Frankfurt that Philips Lighting, one of the world’s leading providers of lighting systems, has built its new Starsense street light telemanagement system using Echelon’s LonWorks platform, which uses Echelon’s power line transceivers to communicate between lighting fixtures and Echelon’s i.LON SmartServer to provide Internet access and local monitoring and control. It is believed Starsense can deliver energy savings of over 40 percent, reducing cities’ energy bills and carbon footprint. ..

Tags: Emissions Control, Intelligent Energy, Lighting, Philips

Related Articles:

Oslo to cut streetlight energy costs by 30% while increasing safety

Unique facility created to showcase solid-state lighting for City beautification

Philips shows 100-inch Ambilight FlatTV prototype

Interactive ambient lighting in public seating: "mood seats" that change colour in response to people's actions

Control4's energy saving wireless light dimmer

Philips Unplugged

The DIY haircut made simple: Remington's ShortCut Clipper

April 9, 2008 What could be simpler than a buzz cut - it's low maintenance, low-cost and you even save on shampoo. But as anyone who has ever attempted to clip their own hair can attest, doing the job yourself ain't as simple as it looks, with elusive strands of longer hair almost always escaping the blades and leaving you with that less than attractive "not quite finished" look. Discovered in the Gobi desert (near Fukang) in China eight years ago, the extremely rare and beautiful Pallasite meteorite is thought to have originated at the mantle-core boundary of very large differentiated asteroids that were destroyed during the early formation of the solar system over 4.5 billion years ago, give or take a hundred millennia or so. Fukang’s unique crystalline structures formed as the metal matrix cooled, with no gravitational influence, at a rate of only a few degrees per million-year period. Now the “main mass” of the meteorite, a distinction considered highly desirable by meteorite collectors, is to be sold at auction by international fine art auctioneers Bonhams on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at its salerooms in New York...

Related Articles:

Glenfiddich Rare Collection 1937 – the World's Oldest Bottle of Whisky to go to auction

First Research Projects Underway at Diamond Light Source

Unique 1963 Ford Thunderbird “Italien” concept car goes under the hammer

Jim Redman’s Ex-Works Honda 250cc RC164 Grand Prix motorcycle for sale

1906 land speed record holder to go under the hammer

Bugatti Type 59 for sale

Electronic four-wheel steering from Renault

April 9, 2008 Renault is set to introduce its new electronically-controlled Active Drive chassis with four-wheel steering next month in new GT versions of the Laguna Hatch and Sport Tourer. Four-wheel steering systems of the 1980s were essentially mechanical, with the wheels linked at pre-determined angles to make up for a vehicle's tendency to understeer. Such systems were gradually superseded by the advent of ESP. In recent times some manufacturers have begun developing electrically- and even hydraulically-operated actuators, enabling handling to be fine-tuned even further. ..

Tags: Renault

Related Articles:

Citroen shows drive-by-wire C5

ZF’s Torque Vectoring rear axle drive

Segway's Centaur Concept

Mercedes F400 Carving

Renault Laguna Coupé Concept

Mercedes-Benz F 300 Life-Jet: the three-wheeled driving machine

Zeemote wireless controller for mobile phones

April 9, 2008 The US$38 billion video gaming market thrives due to innovative input devices and one of the most interesting new additions is the Zeemote JS1 - a wireless controller that enables what the developers claim is near-console game play on mobile phones. Created by the team that developed the first force feedback joystick for PC gaming, the Zeemote controller fell into the hands of Dave Weinstein at CTIA and Dave reports the new phone peripheral is responsive, ergonomic and functional and just might help us past trying to game comfortably on a phone using controls designed for some other purpose...

Related Articles:

Mobility, Multiplayer and Console-Quality Gaming

Nintendo reveals new controller for Revolution game platform

QWERTY keyboards deserve to die

Logitech ChillStream Controller with built-in fan

Women dominate mobile phone gaming

Mobile Gaming Habits changing rapidly and globally

World's first hybrid refuse truck launched in Sweden

April 8, 2008 Volvo has announced that Swedish refuse collection firms Renova and Ragn-Sells will begin regular daily testing of two of the company's hybrid refuse trucks ahead of a market launch in 2009. since the outset, but this offering from Tributaries not only looks like a powerstrip with attitude, it also comes with a host of features. Designed to easily accommodate wall-wart type power supplies, the T12 features 12 AC outlets, 8 of which can be rotated 90°. The remaining four fixed outlets have safety shutters and, for ease of use, the T12 has a resettable circuit breaker built in to the Power push-button. A red “PROTECTED” LED illuminates when the internal surge protection is functioning correctly while a 2nd blue “GROUNDED” LED illuminates when the outlet, into which the T12 is connected, is properly grounded...

Tags: Electric, Safety

Related Articles:

Belkin Conserve Energy-Saving Surge Protector

The PowerSquid: a better powerboard

Next generation mine-protected 6x6

The Home Ethernet Network you didn't know you already had

Functional redesign of the wall electrical outlet

AnalogicTech unveils energy saving 12V Step-down DC/DC Converter

Power Utility launches energy saving software

South Jersey Gas is now offering its customers the ability to manage their energy consumption, practice energy efficiency and reduce their energy costs using a free web-based service. The Dodge Zeo concept is an all-American muscle car with a heart of green. Sitting a tier below the all-out performance figures of the Tesla Roadster and Lightning GT, the Zeo makes around 268 horses for a 0-60mph time just under 6 seconds, and its lithium-based battery pack gets a range of up to 250 miles. It looks a million dollars, oozing sexiness and performance potential, and more importantly it's one of the first serious sports-focused battery-electric concepts we've seen from any of the major auto manufacturers. Are the big car makers catching on to battery cars as the way of the future?..

Tags: Battery Electric Vehicles, Chrysler, Dodge, Electric, Engine Technologies

Related Articles:

Viper-Powered 2004 Dodge Ram production-model on show

Chrysler Touring wagon concept joins 300C sedan

Chrysler reveals V8 powered 'Firepower' concept

Peugeot 207 EPURE fuel cell concept car tipped as future model

Porsche Plans Cayenne with Hybrid Engine

Chrysler Razor

The smallest black hole ever

April 7, 2008 Using measurements taken by the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer satellite, NASA scientists have identified the smallest known black hole in the universe.
