Examples include:</p><ul class='ak-ul'><li><p data-renderer-start-pos='1351'>Information related to purchases, which we’re required to keep for financial reporting.</p></li><li><p data-renderer-start-pos='1442'>Records that show we deleted someone’s account, which we may need to provide to regulators.</p></li><li><p data-renderer-start-pos='1537'>Data that’s part of an active lawsuit, which we’re required to keep by law.</p></li></ul><p data-renderer-start-pos='1618'>The user has the right to submit complaints to the supervisory authority in their country.</p><p data-renderer-start-pos='1710'>Additionally, we don’t delete the following data:</p><ul class='ak-ul'><li><p data-renderer-start-pos='1761'>Content the user has created in Atlassian account services, such as pages, issues, and comments.</p></li><li><p data-renderer-start-pos='1861'>Any personal data in content the user or someone else created, such as names or email addresses typed into a page or issue.</p></li><li><p data-renderer-start-pos='1988'>The user’s profile information that might have been stored in Marketplace and custom apps installed in products.</p></li></ul><p data-renderer-start-pos='2106'>Deleting an Atlassian account doesn’t delete their Jira Align, Halp, or Opsgenie accounts.</p><ul class='ak-ul'><li><p data-renderer-start-pos='2198'>To delete their Jira Align Atlassian data, email Jira Align Support at <span class='code'>jira-align-support@atlassian.com</span><em><strong>.</strong></em> To delete their Jira Align product account, contact your Jira Align admin.</p></li><li><p data-renderer-start-pos='2381'>To delete a Halp account, <a class='sc-eIHaNI fVLHZh' href='https://support.atlassian.com/' title='https://support.atlassian.com/'>contact Support</a>.</p></li><li><p data-renderer-start-pos='2427'>To delete an Opsgenie account, see <span><a href='https://support.atlassian.com/opsgenie/docs/delete-an-account/' data-testid='sac-link-extension' target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferrer'>Delete your Opsgenie account</a></span>.</p></li></ul><h2 id='Delete-an-account'>Delete an account</h2><div style='background:#DEEBFF' class='ak-editor-panel' data-panel-type='info'><span style='color:#0052CC' class='ak-editor-panel__icon'><span class='sc-bnXvFD jjYaPd' role='img' aria-label='Panel info'><svg width='24' height='24' viewBox='0 0 24 24' focusable='false' role='presentation'><path d='M12 20a8 8 0 1 1 0-16 8 8 0 0 1 0 16zm0-8.5a1 1 0 0 0-1 1V15a1 1 0 0 0 2 0v-2.5a1 1 0 0 0-1-1zm0-1.125a1.375 1.375 0 1 0 0-2.75 1.375 1.375 0 0 0 0 2.75z' fill='currentColor' fill-rule='evenodd'></path></svg></span></span><div class='ak-editor-panel__content'><p data-renderer-start-pos='2489'><strong>Customers using SAML SSO or Google Workspace</strong></p><p data-renderer-start-pos='2535'>If you’re using SAML SSO, remove the user from your identity provider before you delete their account. If you don’t remove the user from your identity provider, their Atlassian account will get created again and they'll still be able to log in.</p><p data-renderer-start-pos='2781'>If you manage users through <span><a href='https://support.atlassian.com/provisioning-users/docs/edit-g-suite-settings-and-users/' data-testid='sac-link-extension' target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferrer'>Google Workspace</a></span>, remove the user from Google Workspace. Select your organization if you have more than one.</span></span></span></p></li><li><p data-renderer-start-pos='2963'><span><span class='text-fragment' data-testid='inline-text-fragment'><span>Select <strong>Directory</strong> > <strong>Managed accounts</strong>.</span></span></span></p></li><li><p data-renderer-start-pos='2968'>Select the account you want to delete.</p></li><li><p data-renderer-start-pos='3010'>Select the More actions menu (•••).</p></li><li><p data-renderer-start-pos='3049'>Select <strong>Delete account</strong> and follow the prompts.</p></li></ol><p data-renderer-start-pos='3100'>Once you delete an account, we’ll <span><a href='https://support.atlassian.com/user-management/docs/deactivate-a-managed-account/' data-testid='sac-link-extension' target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferrer'>deactivate</a></span> the account for 14 days. During this period, you can cancel the deletion if you need to. After 14 days, the account will be permanently deleted and the account name will be replaced with “Former user” in products. The account will no longer appear in <strong>Users</strong> or <strong>Managed accounts</strong>.</p><h3 id='User-notification'>User notification</h3><p data-renderer-start-pos='3434'>When you schedule an account for deletion, we email the user to inform them that their account has been scheduled for deletion. We tell them that they can no longer access Atlassian account services. We explain what happens to their personal data and provide a list of any Marketplace and custom apps that may have stored their profile information. We also tell them that their account deletion can only be canceled by an admin.</p><h3 id='Admin-notification'>Admin notification</h3><p data-renderer-start-pos='3884'>When you schedule an account for deletion, we email you to confirm that the account has been scheduled for deletion. This confirmation email will include a list of any Marketplace and custom apps that may have stored the user’s profile information.</p><ul class='ak-ul'><li><p data-renderer-start-pos='4134'>To find out whether a Marketplace app stored a user’s profile information, visit the app’s Marketplace listing and refer to their privacy policy. During this period, you can cancel the deletion if you need to. After 14 days, the account will be permanently deleted and the account name will be replaced with “Former user” in products. The account will no longer appear in <strong>Users</strong> or <strong>Managed accounts</strong>.</p><h3 id=\"User-notification\">User notification</h3><p data-renderer-start-pos=\"3434\">When you schedule an account for deletion, we email the user to inform them that their account has been scheduled for deletion. We tell them that they can no longer access Atlassian account services. We explain what happens to their personal data and provide a list of any Marketplace and custom apps that may have stored their profile information. We also tell them that their account deletion can only be canceled by an admin.</p><h3 id=\"Admin-notification\">Admin notification</h3><p data-renderer-start-pos=\"3884\">When you schedule an account for deletion, we email you to confirm that the account has been scheduled for deletion. This confirmation email will include a list of any Marketplace and custom apps that may have stored the user’s profile information.</p><ul class=\"ak-ul\"><li><p data-renderer-start-pos=\"4134\">To find out whether a Marketplace app stored a user’s profile information, visit the app’s Marketplace listing and refer to their privacy policy. Select your organization if you have more than one.</span></span></span></p></li><li><p data-renderer-start-pos='2963'><span><span class='text-fragment' data-testid='inline-text-fragment'><span>Select <strong>Directory</strong> > <strong>Managed accounts</strong>.</span></span></span></p></li><li><p data-renderer-start-pos='2968'>Select the account you want to delete.</p></li><li><p data-renderer-start-pos='3010'>Select the More actions menu (•••).</p></li><li><p data-renderer-start-pos='3049'>Select <strong>Delete account</strong> and follow the prompts.</p></li></ol><p data-renderer-start-pos='3100'>Once you delete an account, we’ll <span><a href='https://support.atlassian.com/user-management/docs/deactivate-a-managed-account/' data-testid='sac-link-extension' target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferrer'>deactivate</a></span> the account for 14 days. During this period, you can cancel the deletion if you need to. After 14 days, the account will be permanently deleted and the account name will be replaced with “Former user” in products. The account will no longer appear in <strong>Users</strong> or <strong>Managed accounts</strong>.</p><h3 id='User-notification'>User notification</h3><p data-renderer-start-pos='3434'>When you schedule an account for deletion, we email the user to inform them that their account has been scheduled for deletion. We tell them that they can no longer access Atlassian account services. We explain what happens to their personal data and provide a list of any Marketplace and custom apps that may have stored their profile information. We also tell them that their account deletion can only be canceled by an admin.</p><h3 id='Admin-notification'>Admin notification</h3><p data-renderer-start-pos='3884'>When you schedule an account for deletion, we email you to confirm that the account has been scheduled for deletion. This confirmation email will include a list of any Marketplace and custom apps that may have stored the user’s profile information.</p><ul class='ak-ul'><li><p data-renderer-start-pos='4134'>To find out whether a Marketplace app stored a user’s profile information, visit the app’s Marketplace listing and refer to their privacy policy.
