<span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>and do not follow<MH1980, 310> other<MH312> gods<MH430> to <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>serve<MH5647> them and to <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>worship<MH2331c> them, and do not provoke<MH3707> Me to<MH3707> anger<MH3707> with the work<MH4639> of your hands<MH3027>, then I will do<MH7489a> you no<MH3808> harm<MH7489a>.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>Yet you have not listened<MH8085> to Me,” declares<MH5002> the LORD<MH3068>, “in<MH4616> order<MH4616> to<MH4616> provoke<MH3707> Me to<MH3707> anger<MH3707> with the work<MH4639> of your hands<MH3027> to your own harm<MH7451b>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>“Therefore<MH3651> this<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the LORD<MH3068> of armies<MH6635> says<MH559>: ‘Because<MH3282, 834> you have not obeyed<MH8085> My words<MH1697>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>behold<MH2009>, I will send<MH7971> and take<MH3947> all<MH3605> the families<MH4940> of the north<MH6828>,’ declares<MH5002> the LORD<MH3068>, ‘and <i>I will send</i> to Nebuchadnezzar<MH5019> king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894>, My servant<MH5650>, and will bring<MH935> them against<MH5921> this<MH2088> land<MH776> and against<MH5921> its inhabitants<MH3427> and against<MH5921> all<MH3605> these<MH428> surrounding<MH5439> nations<MH1471>; and I will <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>completely<MH2763a> destroy<MH2763a> them and make<MH7760> them an object<MH8047> of<MH8047> horror<MH8047> and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>hissing<MH8322>, and an everlasting<MH5769> place<MH2723> of<MH2723> ruins<MH2723>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>Moreover, I will eliminate<MH6> from them the voice<MH6963> of jubilation<MH8342> and the voice<MH6963> of joy<MH8057>, the voice<MH6963> of the groom<MH2860a> and the voice<MH6963> of the bride<MH3618>, the sound<MH6963> of the millstones<MH7347> and the light<MH216> of the lamp<MH5216>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>This<MH2088> entire<MH3605> land<MH776> will be a place<MH2723> of<MH2723> ruins<MH2723> and an object<MH8047> of<MH8047> horror<MH8047>, and these<MH428> nations<MH1471> will serve<MH5647> the king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894> for seventy<MH7657> years<MH8141>. <p class="hdg">Babylon Will Be Judged</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>‘Then it will be when seventy<MH7657> years<MH8141> are completed<MH4390> I will punish<MH6485> the king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894> and that nation<MH1471>,’ declares<MH5002> the LORD<MH3068>, ‘for their wrongdoing<MH5771>, and the land<MH776> of the Chaldeans<MH3778>; and I will make<MH7760> it an everlasting<MH5769> desolation<MH8077>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>I will bring<MH935> upon that land<MH776> all<MH3605> My words<MH1697> which<MH834> I have pronounced<MH1696> against<MH5921> it, all<MH3605> that is written<MH3789> in this<MH2088> book<MH5612> which<MH834> Jeremiah<MH3414> has prophesied<MH5012> against<MH5921> all<MH3605> the nations<MH1471>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>(<span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>For many<MH7227a> nations<MH1471> and great<MH1419> kings<MH4428> will make<MH5647> slaves<MH5647> of them, even<MH1571> them; and I will repay<MH7999a> them according to their deeds<MH6467> and according to the work<MH4639> of their hands<MH3027>.)’” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>For this<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the LORD<MH3068>, the God<MH430> of Israel<MH3478>, says<MH559> to me: “Take<MH3947> this<MH2088> cup<MH3563a> of the wine<MH3196> of wrath<MH2534> from My hand<MH3027> and give<MH8248> it to all<MH3605> the nations<MH1471> to whom<MH834> I send<MH7971> you, to<MH8248> drink<MH8248> <i>from it.</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>Then they will drink<MH8354> and loudly<MH1607> vomit<MH1607> and act<MH1984b> insanely<MH1984b> because<MH4480, 6440> of the sword<MH2719> that I am going to send<MH7971> among<MH996> them.” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>So I took<MH3947> the cup<MH3563a> from the LORD’S<MH3068> hand<MH3027> and gave<MH8248> it to all<MH3605> the nations<MH1471> to whom<MH834> the LORD<MH3068> sent<MH7971> me, to<MH8248> drink<MH8248> <i>from it:</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span><i>To</i> Jerusalem<MH3389> and the cities<MH5892b> of Judah<MH3063>, and its kings<MH4428> <i>and</i> its officials<MH8269>, to make<MH5414> them places<MH2723> of<MH2723> ruins<MH2723>, objects<MH8047> of<MH8047> horror<MH8047>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>hissing<MH8322>, and a curse<MH7045>, as it is this<MH2088> day<MH3117>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span><i>To</i> Pharaoh<MH6547> king<MH4428> of Egypt<MH4714>, his servants<MH5650>, his officials<MH8269>, and all<MH3605> his people<MH5971a>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>and <i>to</i> all<MH3605> the foreign<MH6154a> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>people<MH6154a>, all<MH3605> the kings<MH4428> of the land<MH776> of Uz<MH5780>, all<MH3605> the kings<MH4428> of the land<MH776> of the Philistines<MH6430> (that is, Ashkelon<MH831>, Gaza<MH5804a>, Ekron<MH6138>, and the remnant<MH7611> of Ashdod<MH795>); <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span><i>To</i> Edom<MH112b>, Moab<MH4124>, and the sons<MH1121> of Ammon<MH5983>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>and <i>to</i> all<MH3605> the kings<MH4428> of Tyre<MH6865>, all<MH3605> the kings<MH4428> of Sidon<MH6721>, and the kings<MH4428> of the coastlands<MH339> which<MH834> are beyond<MH5676> the sea<MH3220>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>and <i>to</i> Dedan<MH1719>, Tema<MH8485>, Buz<MH938>, and all<MH3605> who trim<MH7112> the corners<MH6285> <i>of their hair;</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>and <i>to</i> all<MH3605> the kings<MH4428> of Arabia<MH6152a> and all<MH3605> the kings<MH4428> of the foreign<MH6154a> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>people<MH6154a> who live<MH7931> in the desert<MH4057b>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>and <i>to</i> all<MH3605> the kings<MH4428> of Zimri<MH2174b>, all<MH3605> the kings<MH4428> of Elam<MH5867a>, and all<MH3605> the kings<MH4428> of Media<MH4074>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>and <i>to</i> all<MH3605> the kings<MH4428> of the north<MH6828>, near<MH7138> and far<MH7350>, one<MH376> with another<MH251>; and all<MH3605> the kingdoms<MH4467> of the earth<MH776> which<MH834> are on the face<MH6440> of the ground<MH127>; and the king<MH4428> of <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>Sheshach<MH8347> shall drink<MH8354> <i>it</i> after<MH310> them. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>“And you shall say<MH559> to them, ‘This<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the LORD<MH3068> of armies<MH6635>, the God<MH430> of Israel<MH3478> says<MH559>: “Drink<MH8354>, be<MH7937> drunk<MH7937>, vomit<MH7006c>, fall<MH5307> down, and do not get<MH6965> up<MH6965>, because<MH4480, 6440> of the sword<MH2719> which<MH834> I am sending<MH7971> among<MH996> you.”’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>And if<MH3588> they refuse<MH3985> to take<MH3947> the cup<MH3563a> from your hand<MH3027> to drink<MH8354>, then you shall say<MH559> to them, ‘This<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the LORD<MH3068> of armies<MH6635> says<MH559>: “You shall certainly<MH8354> drink<MH8354>! <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>For behold<MH2009>, I am beginning<MH2490c> to inflict<MH7489a> disaster<MH7489a> on <i>this</i> city<MH5892b> which<MH834> is called<MH7121> by My name<MH8034>, so should you be<MH5352> completely<MH5352> free<MH5352> from<MH5352> punishment<MH5352>? You will not be<MH5352> free<MH5352> from<MH5352> punishment<MH5352>, for I am summoning<MH7121> a sword<MH2719> against<MH5921> all<MH3605> the inhabitants<MH3427> of the earth<MH776>,” declares<MH5002> the LORD<MH3068> of armies<MH6635>.’ <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span>“Therefore you shall prophesy<MH5012> against<MH413> them all<MH3605> these<MH428> words<MH1697>, and you shall say<MH559> to them, <t><p class="indent1">‘The LORD<MH3068> will roar<MH7580> from on high<MH4791> <t><p class="indent1">And raise<MH5414> His voice<MH6963> from His holy<MH6944> dwelling<MH4583>; <t><p class="indent1">He will roar<MH7580> forcefully<MH7580> against<MH5921> His <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>fold<MH5116a>. <t><p class="indent1">He will shout<MH1959> like those who tread<MH1869> <i>the grapes,</i> <t><p class="indent1">Against<MH413> all<MH3605> the inhabitants<MH3427> of the earth<MH776>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-31.htm"><b>31</b></a></span>‘A clamor<MH7588> has come<MH935> to the end<MH7097a> of the earth<MH776>, <t><p class="indent1">Because<MH3588> the LORD<MH3068> has a controversy<MH7379> with the nations<MH1471>. <t><p class="indent1">He is entering<MH8199> into<MH8199> judgment<MH8199> with <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>humanity<MH1320>; <t><p class="indent1">As for the wicked<MH7563>, He has turned<MH5414> them over<MH5414> to the sword<MH2719>,’ declares<MH5002> the LORD<MH3068>.” <poetry><p class="paragraph"><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-32.htm"><b>32</b></a></span>This<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the LORD<MH3068> of armies<MH6635> says<MH559>: <p class="indent1stline">“Behold<MH2009>, evil<MH7463a> is going<MH3318> out<MH3318> <t><p class="indent1">From nation<MH1471> to nation<MH1471>, <t><p class="indent1">And a great<MH1419> storm<MH5591a> is being stirred<MH5782> up<MH5782> <t><p class="indent1">From the remotest<MH3411> parts<MH3411> of the earth<MH776>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/25-33.htm"><b>33</b></a></span>“Those put<MH2491a> to<MH2491a> death<MH2491a> by the LORD<MH3068> on that day<MH3117> will be from one end<MH7097a> of the earth<MH776> to the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>other<MH7097a, 776>.
