In the context of the Song of Solomon, it symbolizes the deep love and desire between a bride and groom, often interpreted as an allegory for the relationship between Christ and the Church. The term "beloved" is frequently used throughout the book, emphasizing the personal and cherished nature of this relationship. In a broader biblical context, it echoes the call of Christ to His followers, inviting them into a deeper communion with Him.<p><b>let us go to the countryside</b><br>The countryside represents a place of peace, tranquility, and natural beauty, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. In ancient Israel, the countryside was often associated with fertility and abundance, reflecting God's provision and blessing. This invitation to the countryside can be seen as a call to retreat from worldly distractions and to seek spiritual renewal and intimacy with God. It also parallels the biblical theme of God leading His people to places of rest and refreshment, as seen in <a href="/psalms/23-2.htm">Psalm 23:2</a>, where He leads them beside still waters.<p><b>let us spend the night among the wildflowers</b><br>Spending the night among the wildflowers suggests a time of rest and enjoyment in the midst of God's creation. Wildflowers, with their beauty and variety, symbolize the richness and diversity of God's blessings. This imagery can be connected to the idea of abiding in Christ, as mentioned in <a href="/john/15-4.htm">John 15:4</a>, where believers are encouraged to remain in Him to bear fruit. The wildflowers also evoke the transient nature of life, reminding believers of the importance of cherishing moments of intimacy with God. Historically, the mention of wildflowers may reflect the agricultural setting of ancient Israel, where such scenes were common and appreciated for their natural beauty.<div class="vheading2">Persons / Places / Events</div>1. <b><a href="/topical/t/the_beloved.htm">The Beloved</a></b><br>In the Song of Solomon, the beloved is often interpreted as Solomon or a representation of Christ in allegorical readings. The same reminiscence of the sweet courtship in the happy "woodland places." It has been conjectured that this verse suggested to Milton the passage beginning, "To-morrow, ere fresh morning streak the East," &c. (P. <span class= "ital">L. </span>4:623, &c)<p><div class="vheading2"><a href="/commentaries/pulpit/songs/7.htm">Pulpit Commentary</a></div><span class="cmt_sub_title">Verses 11, 12.</span> - <span class="cmt_word">Come, my beloved, let us go forth into the field; let us lodge in the</span> <span class="cmt_word">villages</span>. <span class="cmt_word">Let us get up early to the vineyards; let us see whether the vine hath budded and its blossom be open, and the pomegranates be in flower: there will I give thee my love.</span> All true poets will sympathize with the exquisite sentiment of the bride in this passage. The solitude and glory and reality of external nature are dearer to her than the bustle and splendour of the city and of the court. By "the field" is meant the country generally. The village or little town surrounded with vineyards and gardens was the scene of Shulamith's early life, and would always be delightful to her. The word is the plural of an unused form. It is found in the form <span class="accented">copher</span> (<a href="/1_samuel/6-18.htm">1 Samuel 6:18</a>), meaning "a district of level country." Delitzsch renders, "let us get up early," rather differently - "in the morning we will start" - but the meaning is the same. The word <span class="accented">dodhai</span>, "my love," is "the evidences or expressions of my love" (cf. <a href="/songs/4-16.htm">Song of Solomon 4:16</a>; <a href="/songs/1-2.htm">Song of Solomon 1:2</a>). No doubt the bride is speaking in the springtime, the Wonnemond of May, when the pulses beat in sympathy with the rising life of nature. <span class="p"><br /><br /></span><span class="versiontext"><a href="/commentaries/songs/7-11.htm">Parallel Commentaries ...</a></span><span class="p"><br /><br /><br /></span><a name="lexicon" id="lexicon"></a><div class="vheading">Hebrew</div><span class="word">Come,</span><br /><span class="heb">לְכָ֤ה</span> <span class="translit">(lə·ḵāh)</span><br /><span class="parse">Verb - Qal - Imperative - masculine singular | third person feminine singular<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_1980.htm">Strong's 1980: </a> </span><span class="str2">To go, come, walk</span><br /><br /><span class="word">my beloved,</span><br /><span class="heb">דוֹדִי֙</span> <span class="translit">(ḏō·w·ḏî)</span><br /><span class="parse">Noun - masculine singular construct | first person common singular<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_1730.htm">Strong's 1730: </a> </span><span class="str2">To love, a love-token, lover, friend, an uncle</span><br /><br /><span class="word">let us go</span><br /><span class="heb">נֵצֵ֣א</span> <span class="translit">(nê·ṣê)</span><br /><span class="parse">Verb - Qal - Imperfect Cohortative if contextual - first person common plural<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_3318.htm">Strong's 3318: </a> </span><span class="str2">To go, bring, out, direct and proxim</span><br /><br /><span class="word">to the countryside;</span><br /><span class="heb">הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה</span> <span class="translit">(haś·śā·ḏeh)</span><br /><span class="parse">Article | Noun - masculine singular<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_7704.htm">Strong's 7704: </a> </span><span class="str2">Field, land</span><br /><br /><span class="word">let us spend the night</span><br /><span class="heb">נָלִ֖ינָה</span> <span class="translit">(nā·lî·nāh)</span><br /><span class="parse">Verb - Qal - Imperfect Cohortative - first person common plural<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_3885.htm">Strong's 3885: </a> </span><span class="str2">To stop, to stay permanently, to be obstinate</span><br /><br /><span class="word">in the villages.</span><br /><span class="heb">בַּכְּפָרִֽים׃</span> <span class="translit">(bak·kə·p̄ā·rîm)</span><br /><span class="parse">Preposition-b, Article | Noun - masculine plural<br /></span><span class="str"><a href="/hebrew/strongs_3723.htm">Strong's 3723: </a> </span><span class="str2">A village</span><br /><span class="p"><br /><br /></span><div class="vheading">Links</div><a href="/niv/songs/7-11.htm">Song of Solomon 7:11 NIV</a><br /><a href="/nlt/songs/7-11.htm">Song of Solomon 7:11 NLT</a><br /><a href="/esv/songs/7-11.htm">Song of Solomon 7:11 ESV</a><br /><a href="/nasb/songs/7-11.htm">Song of Solomon 7:11 NASB</a><br /><a href="/kjv/songs/7-11.htm">Song of Solomon 7:11 KJV</a><span class="p"><br /><br /></span><a href="//bibleapps.com/songs/7-11.htm">Song of Solomon 7:11 BibleApps.com</a><br /><a href="//bibliaparalela.com/songs/7-11.htm">Song of Solomon 7:11 Biblia Paralela</a><br /><a href="//holybible.com.cn/songs/7-11.htm">Song of Solomon 7:11 Chinese Bible</a><br /><a href="//saintebible.com/songs/7-11.htm">Song of Solomon 7:11 French Bible</a><br /><a href="/catholic/songs/7-11.htm">Song of Solomon 7:11 Catholic Bible</a><span class="p"><br /><br /></span><a href="/songs/7-11.htm">OT Poetry: Song of Solomon 7:11 Come my beloved let us go forth (Song Songs SS So Can)</a></div></div></td></tr></table></div><div id="left"><a href="/songs/7-10.htm" onmouseover='lft.src="/leftgif.png"' onmouseout='lft.src="/left.png"' title="Song of Solomon 7:10"><img src="/left.png" name="lft" border="0" alt="Song of Solomon 7:10" /></a></div><div id="right"><a href="/songs/7-12.htm" onmouseover='rght.src="/rightgif.png"' onmouseout='rght.src="/right.png"' title="Song of Solomon 7:12"><img src="/right.png" name="rght" border="0" alt="Song of Solomon 7:12" /></a></div><div id="botleft"><a href="#" onmouseover='botleft.src="/botleftgif.png"' onmouseout='botleft.src="/botleft.png"' title="Top of Page"><img src="/botleft.png" name="botleft" border="0" alt="Top of Page" /></a></div><div id="botright"><a href="#" onmouseover='botright.src="/botrightgif.png"' onmouseout='botright.src="/botright.png"' title="Top of Page"><img src="/botright.png" name="botright" border="0" alt="Top of Page" /></a></div><div id="bot"><iframe width="100%" height="1500" scrolling="no" src="/botmenubhnew2.htm" frameborder="0"></iframe></div></td></tr></table></div></body></html>
