He also had the opportunity to serve as an Assistant Principal for Carroll High School during his time with the district. After nine years with Carroll ISD, he became the Principal of Timberview High School, a large high school located in South Arlington and encompassed within the Mansfield ISD. John has served as the Superintendent of Schools for the Hamilton Independent School District prior to becoming the Deputy Superintendent for the Killeen Independent School District and then Superintendent of Schools where he led the fast-growth district of 45,000 students and 6,300 employees for 9 years.</p> <p>Entering his 14th year as Superintendent, he was hired in 2023 as the Superintendent of Northside Independent School District, the 4th largest in the State encompassing 102,000 students, 14,000 employees across 131 campuses.</p> <p>Born in Temple, Texas, Dr. Craft spent the majority of his childhood growing up outside of Fort Worth and graduating from W.E. Boswell High School. Dr. Craft received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of North Texas before completing his Doctorate in Educational Administration at Tarleton State University.</p> <p>A life-long learner, Dr. Craft serves on numerous Local, State and National committees to include the Texas School Alliance, The Texas Association of School Administrators State Advocacy Committee and the State Advisory Committee on Educational Opportunities for Military Children to name a few.
