To remain competitive, it is crucial for these companies to continuously update and create cuttingedge processes that differentiate them from textile companies in other countries. This study examines the impact of innovation on the strategic management of the Ecuadorian textile industry. Data was collected through a survey based on a structured questionnaire, which was administered to textile company managers in the Sierra region. The questionnaire underwent validation by eight industry experts, and its high reliability was confirmed using Cronbach&#39;s Alpha method. The results indicate a positive relationship between innovation and strategic management. Furthermore, the study identifies two key areas that offer significant opportunities for improvement in the short term: the selection and training of talented personnel and the integration of industry in Sri Lanka that depends upon labour intensive manufacturing. The Sri Lankan apparel industry is transitioning from Cut, Make, Trims (CMT) assembly and Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) to Original Design Manufacturing (ODM) and Original Brand Manufacturing (OBM), experiencing the economic benefits of apparel product export. The transition relies on having expert professionals who can provide creative, commercial, technical, and leadership skills in the process. In order to identify the creative roles and responsibilities that can contribute to the industrial upgrading process in Sri Lanka, this paper first provides an analysis of the global apparel value chain and the journeys of the countries with newly industrialized economies (NIEs) in the region. Second, a comparison of Hong Kong and Sri Lankan apparel industries contextualises the development of fashion design within each nation&#39;s industry as a competitive advantage. In each country we examine three factors that demonstrate growth in fashion design: development of fashion design education; development of exportable own brands; and the establishment of local showcases to a global audience. The examples of both Hong Kong and Sri Lanka demonstrate the ways in which creative roles may act as a bridge between production and marketing networks, buyers and producers in maintaining and building industry value-adding for highly sophisticated and competitive fashion production systems. This study explored the influence of noneconomic factors on productivity, competitive and comparative advantages as the influencing factors on the development of the sector. A thematic assessment of nine leading apparel exporters was conducted. The findings reveal that the productivity, competitive and comparative advantages were effectively synergized by focusing on external (non-economic) factors, such as: physical and psychological wellbeing of employees, buyer loyalty, quality of ancillary and supporting services, industry attitude, social responses, ethical supply sourcing, and organizational culture. Further, the success story of the apparel industry began when the journey was turned around from the brink of disintegration and collapse owing to the ingenuity of a few industry leaders who showed courage, innovativeness, and developed strategy to fight back as a collective body. However, there has not been an adequate support from policy establishments. This study aimed to identify the innovations in the flat knitting industry that occurred between 2008 and 2011. This applied nature study considers both qualitative and quantitative approaches with exploratory and descriptive purposes as its research method. A survey addressed to managers of 23 flat knitting industries was conducted. Data analysis was carried out in two stages: in the qualitative stage, content analysis of the interview was performed, while in the quantitative stage, a descriptive quantitative analysis through correlation statistics was used, in order to identify the level of relationship between the variables of the theoretical construct. The results of the qualitative stage showed that the flat knitting industry invests in innovation compatible with the market demands and fashion trends. The quantitative results identified relationships among the variables named annual turnover, number of employees and amount invested in marketing innovation. In addition, correlations were also observed among the variables skilled workforce and amount invested both in product and organizational innovation, and a relationship was identified between amount
